Michie Sushi does take away and deliveries only, so you can't eat in. They have lovely freshly made sushi, sashimi, tempura - which I would definitely recommend, as it's way nicer than Yo! Sushi. Michie means "filled with smiles and laughter" - nice!

not bad for dublin! i'm actually pretty impressed. you see, we're from california where there's a great sushi restaurant in every neighborhood, and i've been to japan so i'm a bit picky. for some reason i'd been craving sushi like my life depended on it so when i came across the good reviews of Michie i just had to give it a shot. we ordered a smathering of things off the delivery menu which was severely limited - basically all tuna and salmon and only available in combos; if you looked really hard, you could find a few odd nigiri (eel - yay, beef??? - not so sure what to make of that one). i'd really like to try the actual restaurant sometime so i can try more of a variety of things. so the sushi... we ordered the tuna combo (4pcs tuna nigiri, 6pcs tuna maki, 2pcs tuna ura maki which is an inside-out roll), the ura maki combo (2pcs each of salmon, tuna and california roll), and the temaki (hand roll) combo (1 spicy tuna, 1 "crispy salmon" which wasn't crispy, and 1 california). the raw tuna was spot-on. not fishy, the right shade of red, the right tenderness, even the cut and size was good. the tuna roll, however, was a bit of a mystery - one bite and i was like "i think this is cooked" and "i'm fairly sure it has onions in it" (what is up with the irish needing to put onions on and in everything???!!!). it was more of a tuna salad sort of mush and had a slightly gritty texture. it tasted good, it was just very strange; like something that belonged on toast, not in a roll. the spicy tuna hand roll was not especially spicy - it was strips of tuna with a sort of seasoning powder sprinkled on it. i ended up making some of my own more traditional spicy sauce (japanese "kewpie" mayo + sriracha) and using that with it. i'm not a huge fan of salmon sushi so i only tasted the one salmon ura maki which was also a similar cooked & mushy mess to the tuna ura maki. not a fan. the hand roll i didn't end up eating because i was full and it didn't appeal. but i tasted a bit of the fish and it was definitely cooked, bland, and definitely not crispy as stated on the menu. i probably wouldn't have ordered it if it wasn't a part of the combo. oh, almost forgot - the california rolls featured those fake crab sticks (which are fine) and avocado, but no cucumber. i'm fairly sure they should have cucumber in them, but whatever. they were good. my only major complaint besides the lack of choices on the takeaway menu was that there was just WAY TOO MUCH RICE in the rolls - like they were twice the size they needed to be and i ended up picking off over a cup of rice and tossing it. overall it definitely hit the spot and i'll be eating from them again. i may even grow to love the strange tuna salad sandwich mush with onions :)

Recommended by self-proclaimed "sushi-snobs", Michie Sushi in Ranelagh is the real deal. The sushi is fresh and uses the best quality ingredients, though the prices aren't cheap - for two people you'll need to spend at least €25 to get your fill. The Nigiri sets are really good, with a selection of different fish - two salmon, two tuna and two prawn for €9.50. They also have a house red, white and champagne, and a range of Japanese alcohol - sake and plum wine. There's only one small table in the outlet, so its really just a takeaway. They offer free cups of green tea while you wait for your order which is a nice touch. They deliver to anywhere in Dublin 2, 4 and 6 for €2.50.

The best sushi I've had in Dublin. If you're in Ranelagh it's worth a visit for first timers and sushi veterans alike. No frills little place, but the food certainly has plenty of character.

Really enjoyed my brief lunch, I had salmon maki and takuan maki (pictured). The maki was really delicious, and you could tell that good quality ingredients were used, from the salmon right down to the nori, the wasabi here has a much deeper flavour and kick than those found in other sushi places in Dublin. The staff were friendly, service was prompt and I was given complimentary green tea while waiting for my order. Looking forward to coming back for dinner soon!

But, there is something very cool about arriving at Chelmsford Lane, and seeing the Michie sign lit up down the street.

You know the age old saying, don't you? "When in Dublin, eat ramen." Oh, sorry. I'm scatterbrained…read morefrom the separation from Kokoro, a ramen bar emporium in, you guessed it, Ireland. It might not be a prophetic catch phrase, but I never expected a ramen joint like this during my travels to Dublin. The dense menu of ramens galore nearly suffocated my appetite because they all sounded magnificent. The cons in service were entirely made up for when these deluxe bowls of ramen landed on our table. The size gargantuan, the aroma intoxicating, and satisfaction guaranteed. Garlic Lovers Ramen - It starts with Tonkotsu AND Miso broth, which was redonkulous. Then the fried onion, grated garlic and black garlic oil elevated the bowl into one of the most intense ramen flavors I've had. The grilled chicken was odd, as expected, it just dried out too quickly. The Seasoned Egg (phenomenal!) tied the entire dish together. The Garlic Lovers Ramen from Kokoro officially landed a certified place in my ramen hall of fame. #BeastFromTheEast may have hindered our Dublin trip, but Kokoro warmed our souls during our final night. Avoid the tourist spots, and check out an industry favorite!

I can run in and grab a tray to have at my desk. They have great value trays and lots of little individually wrapped sushi pieces if you're feeling extra hungry. They also have wasabi mayo that I have a minor addiction to. Now that they have opened near to my work I've had a chance to try the hot food and I'm seriously impressed. I had chicken katsu curry which was delish and great value at €9 for the curry, two pieces of sushi and a can. The staff are absolutely adorable - super friendly and enthusiastic and the restaurant itself is really bright and fresh - I will be a regular here without question

I got a good chuckle out of that; it definitely goes to show you sushi's pretty new here in Ireland and people aren't totally prepared to eat loads of raw fish. Luckily, Sushi King offers chicken sushi. That probably makes a lot of people feel safe and secure, but I think it sounds gross and stupid. If you're going to eat chicken, eat chicken! Don't fork over too much money to eat "sushi" that... isn't. I've been stuffing myself silly with sushi for 10 years and have been dying for some but have been turned off by the high prices here in Dublin. So I was excited for the 30% off they offered on the flyer under the shark. I got the Fish Fetish platter, which consisted of 6 nigiri, and 4 maki. I thought the nigiri was excellent. The fish was very fresh and delicious. I thought the rolls were a little less exciting; the rice to filling ratio was off, and I felt a little gypped. They were still tasty though. The whole platter was 9.20 before the discount, but I wasn't full afterwards. It just wasn't enough food, simple as that. For that kind of money I could have stuffed myself silly twice over.

Overall the food was enjoyable! I absolutely loved the oysters. The mignonette was to die for and was a unique spin I hadn't had before. It felt like an oyster shooter, which made the value seem all the better. For our main course we split the sushi for two platter. It had sashimi, a few different roll options, and nigiri as well. The classics were great, and the rolls were interesting! The only thing I didn't love was the mayo on the tuna roll. Aside from the food, the service was a bit mixed. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic, but service was a bit slow and there had been items added on our bill that we didn't order. Easily fixed, but that took a bit more time. If you want a solid sushi dinner though, I definitely recommend eating here!

So it should come at no surprise that after 2 days of eating nothing but traditional Irish cuisine, my Asian food cravings started to set in. Walking down the streets of Dublin on a Wednesday night, we saw like 15 people enter the Ukiyo Bar at the same time and wondered what al the fuss was about, so we went in. I am so so glad that we did! The menu was priced perfectly for the quality and quantity of food you're served. The food was also super fresh! We ordered the Gyoza, the ramen and the kimchi fried rice. Every dish was jam-packed with fresh veggies and the perfect amount of spice. I was in heaven! Ordered a table sake and a Sapporo that were also really enjoyable. I would recommend Ukiyo Bar to locals and tourists in the Dublin area. Loved it!
