One difference I noticed about Smart vs. other companies is that instead of having a huge dumpster placed in your driveway, they used an open trailer on wheels allowing for easy removal of the debris each day. I also liked the fact that this left no marks on the asphalt driveway like some heavy dumpster can do. The crews put in extremely long days and did an amazing clean up. When you tear down a roof, shingles, nails, etc. go everywhere. The job site remained neat and the daily and final clean up was superb. Smart was extremely easy to do business with. I contacted someone that works for them out of their Battle Creek HQ offices, and he directed me to the Grand Rapids team. Will from the GR office contacted me very quickly and was able to come by our house the next day with his coworker, Luke. Both Will and Luke were easy to talk to and understanding. They showed me pictures of the damage to my roof and assured me it was minimal and quoted me an estimate well below what I thought it might be. We had no need to even file a claim with insurance. The next day, Will reached out and told me that because the damage was so minor, he and his boss (I believe his name is Mark) would be able to come over the next day to make the necessary repairs. I'm extremely grateful for the way they prioritized our home, especially with more rain and storms approaching next week. One of my favorite parts of our backyard is the crimson king maple tree. When we first moved in, we noticed that the tree looked like it had been sealed with some black tar and we worried about its health. We called West Michigan Tree Services to come take a look at it, and they gave us some advice and a care plan. They treated the tree and injected some fertilizer into the roots. They did some other work to it as well in order to give it the best possible outcome. I'd hate to lose this tree, so I'm willing to invest some money into its care. Each spring I receive a tree care contract via email that includes the cost of service for that year and what will be done. If you pre-pay before a certain date, you get a 10% discount, and the work is done that spring. We've been doing this for the past few years, and our tree is looking great! I'm so thankful for the certified arborists and staff for helping us care for our tree. They also provide tree removal and stump grinding, pruning, and land and lot clearing services.

After spending a few minutes talking with him, it was obvious he was very knowledgeable and had a very honest/ trustworthy demeanor. Due to a busy schedule, they were booked out over a month. When the install date came around, they were nothing but professional and courteous. At one point they let me know that our front porch was sinking and they could not FIX the existing cracks, they could stop it from getting worse. I assumed this would add to our total due to the fact that he had to add rebar and it was out of the scope of the original quote. I was beyond surprised to see that they did not charge us any extra! No only did their work meet, but exceeded our expectations. They took care in what they did, and it shows. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure that the surrounding yard/ landscaping was as unscathed as possible. I know it is only cement, but the amount of compliments we have had on our new walkway and stairs is amazing! I have recommended them to a bunch of people looking for cement work- and i woudl absolutely tell anyone to give them a call!
