I came prepared with photos and a clear idea of what I wanted, and my husband and I had already set a $100-150 budget for the prom flowers. Unfortunately, the floral designer was dismissive from the start. When I explained that I wanted a corsage to complement a bright pink dress , something white with light pink. She immediately wrote down "white rose corsage w/ silver" without letting me finish or discuss options. She rushed ahead to the bouquet before I could clarify anything. Hoping to circle back to the corsage once she seen the bouquet inspiration photos I had so both would coordinate. When I showed her the reference photo, she responded, "That has lilies. I am NOT ordering them for this." Each time I tried to speak, she cut me off or talked over me. When I reiterated that I wanted something similar to the photo, she put her pen down, looked at me, and said, "You don't want that. You know that bouquet is over $50 alone," in a tone that felt unnecessarily condescending. Instead of asking out budget she just talked down to us and insulted us. Within just a few minutes, she refused to consider the flowers I requested, dismissed my preferences, and made comments that came across as rude and judgmental. I ultimately walked out mid‑conversation because it was clear she had no interest in working with me. Instead of insulting someone about the cost of a bouquet, perhaps ask their budget next time. As I walked out she told my husband "most people don't want to pay that" justifying what she assumed was expensive for us. We then left and went a few blocks down the street and easily ordered the corsage, bouquet, fifteen centerpieces, and two display arrangements for the graduation party with no issues at all. Westland Florist lost out on several hundred dollars in business due to this designer's unprofessional and condescending behavior. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location for anyone looking to order custom floral arrangements. If you want basic grocery store looking pre made arrangements you'll be fine, but I think there may be limitations from what this designer can actually do When you want customized items.

If you've ever been to Eastern Market, Sochocki's is set up in the main shed. Steve, the owner, has the most stunning flowers you'll ever see! He is there on Saturdays & Sundays. Steve is a miracle worker...he arranged for a special delivery of blue hydrangeas & white roses for my centerpieces. He literally saved me hundreds of dollars and even offered to make them for me, If needed. He showed me a few tricks of the trade arranging the centerpieces. The men were gone already for pictures at a park, so there were no boutineers in the photos. We had to quickly put them on the guys when they arrived for the ceremony. The bouquets were very round and not like the photo given to the florist. When I called the owner, she just said she was sorry we were not happy, and that her driver said he arrived at 1:45 which was not true. We waiting until 1:50 and the flowers still were not there. We entered and no one was around. I said "You-Hoo?" and no one answered. My niece opened the first available door and saw a woman in a black skirt suit with her blouse untucked and in bare feet standing over an open casket. This woman came out, still disheveled and in bare feet and greeted us. (We should have left then but they had already picked up the body of my sister. She led us to an elevator, which had a huge bag of garbage on it, and took us to a downstairs meeting room. Among other things, she was not prepared for our appointment. She kept leaving to get things she needed. I wanted just a plain cremation because we were planning to inter her elsewhere in the summer. Many times, she said that "they" could help with that. She seemed to be interested in making more business. The funeral home wrote what I believe was an AI generated obituary after I had given her a detailed statement that I wrote. The saleswoman told us that the home would call when they received the death certificates. They did not. I called and had to pick them up at another inconvenient location. Finally, they did deliver my sister's remains, re-emphasizing that they would like to help us with her internment. Deli8vering my sister was the wrong time to ask for more business. I had to write the real obituaries and submitted them to the Monroe News and the Toledo Blade. A couple of weeks later they delivered an "advertising mug" and a corrected obituary. This certainly was too late, and the mug was in poor taste. Just because Merkle Funeral Home has several locations does not mean they are good at what they do. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!
