This museum has the largest collection of model Ts on display. Fun fact: there were actually two model As, and no model P for, well, I think obvious reasons. Not only is every model Ford built at the plant on display, but also competitor's vehicles of the time, including an electric car that Mrs. Ford is reported to have loved driving. There are many surprises I will not spoil. If you love cars, history, old architecture, and friendly knowledgeable tour guides, this is a must see place on a visit to Detroit. Or for folks who live in Detroit who want to know more about its rich history.

The Model-T Automotive Heritage Complex, Inc., aka the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, was organized in 2000 as a nonprofit to preserve the Plant & keep it from being demolished. It's a museum & education center offering special programs & events. There are weddings here on weekends. In 1996 it was dedicated & was placed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. We spent about 2 hrs here & looked out the window at how part of this factory was converted to apartments. Over 1,600 men worked here over 100 years ago manufacturing Fords. There are over 65 rare automobiles including Henry Ford's "Letter Cars," unique Model T conversion vehicles, and other antique cars manufactured in Milwaukee Junction. We visited Henry Ford's office and Secret Experimental Room where the Model T was created in 1908. We experienced one of the world's oldest surviving automotive plants through a guided tour led by museum docents.

It is geared towards women and nonbinary individuals and created a safe and supportive environment for them to grow their dreams and aspirations in, but it is open to any and all who want to check it out! Anyone can have access to the main floor of BasBlue, where there is an INCREDIBLE cafe to get delicious drinks and food from. There is also a ton of seating for you to enjoy your food and drink and to cowork from as well. If you want to become a member, the upper floors are open to you with more collaborative and private spaces for you to enjoy! It is a non-profit organization and just a gloriously safe and intentionally-curated space to foster creativity and amazing vibes. I always feel so at peace and centered when I'm at BasBlue and love to take meetings from here as often as I can! It's located very close to the DIA, but only open during the weekdays. This is a very nicely renovated mansion turned into a woman's club. Like a late 1800's gentleman's club, only for women. There is a locker room/workout room/nursing area, but I did not see them because I am not a woman. They have lectures and groups within the club. They have a full kitchen, and the usual food on offer seemed like you would expect at a starbucks or better. They have drinks, coffee, and wine. The wine was higher end. And they use an ordering app so members at different rooms of the club can order easily. Lots of rooms. Dining and lecture rooms, lounge and club type rooms, conference rooms. A large event room. All really nice. There are smaller serving bars on the second and third floors. Depending on age, annual membership is 600 or 1200 dollars. It looked great. Maybe it could have used more restrooms, but that is sort of reaching for something negative to say.

We were in Detroit for the weekend, and looking for something to do. Someone recommended that we…read morevisit the station so we decided to give it a shot. The GPS took us to a large parking garage. This garage is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the station. The walk itself was very beautifully landscaped, with lots of flowers and overhead lights. The building itself from the outside is very impressive. Once you enter, there is a room that shows how the renovation was done over time. There is a section of wall that they left in its original state, covered in graffiti, so you knew what they were starting with. There are only two or three little stores to look at on the ground floor - a bookshop with some souvenirs, a coffee and donut shop, and a little gift shop. Otherwise, you just walk around and look at the beautiful architecture. The day we were there several areas were blocked off as they were preparing for what looked like a large wedding. It is a beautifully restored building, but from an entertainment standpoint, there wasn't much to do.

The Hannan Center is a great place for seniors to check out. My friend told me about the art…read moregallery. Once I check the center out, I found out about the art classes they offer. For a small fee of $9, I got 15 weeks of lessons. For that price I signed up for 2 classes. The people that work there are kind and the people in the classes are nice and supportive also. I have learned a lot about collages and have been in 2 of the art exhibitions. A great place for seniors to get involved in different activities. Thanks to the staff at the Hannan Center from the janitor to the top administrators.

I went as part of a new Meetup group for those of us who want to go to cultural actives with others…read moreand not alone. Wonderful choice for the first event. The art house worked with Maybury State Park to have a group of local artists go for 3 days and produce paintings that shows the beauty and places in the park. Most did 3 or 4 paintings in different type of mediums depending on the artists strengths. The group went to the Live @ 5 Reception that opened the exhibit. Tickets were $35 for non members. Appetizers, 2 drink tickets, and live music from a harpist and a flute player from the Michigan Philharmonic. You also got to look at the art, shop the gift shop, meet some of artists and see the awards given out for the top pieces. A pleasant way to spend part of an evening talking to other art lovers and enjoying a cool summer evening while helping out a local organization that supports the arts. Looking forward to the event in September.

Viewing the exhibit is free of charge but donations are welcomed. The current exhibit is "Art That Pushes Boundaries" featuring the work of local artists. In addition to the exhibit, I noticed that a painting canvas kit was available for donation. The art house offers in-person classes including visual art training. Wouldn't it be nice if every town had an art house with exhibits and art education programs like this one? This is a wonderful community resource and I will be stopping by whenever there is a new exhibition.

I guess it's called that because they showcase different Artist from e everywhere. The Artist that I really fell in love with was Catherine Washington, a new Artist. She is an amazing local talent. View her crochet work in my pictures - see the beautiful face she crocheted! I can't believe what she can do with yarn. Incredible! The Artist Market has many beautiful and unique pieces of other artwork, like jewelry, crafts, ceramics and more. I Will definitely be back...they had wine and cheese too!

Very hit or miss, with the hits not being that amazing or frequent. I've been here to look around…read morehoping to get inspired for projects, but there's usually too much not-good stuff to dig through before getting inspired. There's doors and fixtures and all other kinds of things you would expect. There may be something that's just what you needed, but I wouldn't expect a good price. The last time I came though I was looking to find some old hardwood for my floors. My floors are incredibly old, so I wanted some older wood to match both the quality and color change of my floors to patch up some bad spots. The guy who helped me didn't know the difference between the different types of woods and what to look for. We spend a long time looking and standing around before someone else freed up to help. They also didn't have anything more than ten or so years old, which is not their fault, just the inventory at the time, though most stuff seems to be only twenty years old or newer. So I wasn't able to get anything that actually did match but it was better than nothing. The price also isn't great. I had to make two trips for two different types, and for my second batch, the price got higher because it was a different kind of wood. Okay fine, that makes sense, but it's not documented anywhere so I just have to believe them, and I didn't get why it cost just as much as new wood. I know there's something about retrieving and processing when it comes to actually "reclaimed" wood, but I just couldn't see it with this. I probably won't be back unless I get desperate for something old again.
