The company foreman, Dennis Sadecki, installed a kitchen backsplash for us. I made a major mistake in trusting they knew what they were doing and did not do a proper inspection before writing a check. The tile was chewed up, broken, and uneven (see photos attached). There was no space between the mosaic tile sheets; they were stacked directly on top of each other. There were other issues more minor; we requested the job be redone. I asked the owner Robert Gilbert to come to our home twice, both times he refuse and threatened to take us to court if we did not accept taking a couple hundred off the bill. Robert also stated "it's not like their not going to let us get paid." The job was horrible and needed to be redone and has already been tore out. When we went to court both the magistrate and judge commented on how bad the job was but awarded them payment because I did not do an inspection before writing a check. If you see a contractor doing something that does not look right to you stop them, do not let them finish or you will be stuck with paying for terrible work. Request the names of the people doing work on your home and do an internet search of their names to make sure they are reputable and do not have a criminal history you may be uncomfortable with. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! The owners go to response to unhappy customers is "I'm sorry you feel you and a bad experience..." He does not! This is the companies response, inadvertently deleted by myself: We offered advise on how to install the tile so it would look good. You refused our advise and then wanted it fixed even though we told you so. Ok no big deal so we offered to fix it the way we suggested in the first place and came out to do so but instead your wife decided she wanted the whole job replaced. We refused of course because the work was satisfactory with the inception of the top edge you refused to let 20 years of experience lay out for you in the first place. Neither Judge said it was bad work except for the part you did to yourself. You were happy with the work until THE BOSS got home and inspected your poor choices with regard to the top edge of tile. I never refused to come to your home I suggested you let us come fix something that was your fault in the first place. I regret my foreman did not make you initial the contract saying it would look like crap if you didn't except our advice. You cancelled the check 2-3 days later. You did do a walk though with our foreman and signed a check and a contract. Yes in 20 years we have never been to court and yes of course both judges sided with us. Your claims were ridiculous to say the least. Not to mention very time wasting to all parties. I never threatened to take you to court I simply stated if you were unwilling to let us repair something that is your fault in the first place the only way to resolve it was to go to court. I thought I was being more then reasonable by repairing your mistake or offering you a couple hundred dollars off your bill. In the end everything we said about the tile happened. Everything we said about court happened. Also as the judge stated "No your wife may not present your case for you, If your wife made the decisions regarding the tile work we probably wouldn't be here" read more

P. Davis This was the first time I used Michigan Handyman for a work project. I called them because I noticed my gutter seemed to have water flowing from them with a good rain. I assumed that there was damage to the gutter because I recently had a roof installed. Brian L. from Michigan Handyman discovered that my gutters were clogged with debris from the roofing job. Hired Michigan's Handyman for several jobs, Highly recommend him. Listed below is the work I had him do for us. Did a home inspection for a house for my son, found no other problems later on. Had to have wiring redone in several areas in the house. Almost all the gutters had to be replaced. The porch steps needed to be replace. Roofing for the back porch. Exterior & Interior doors needed replacement. Plumbing in bathroom and kitchen. Plumbing also in the crawl space of the home. Windows replaced and repaired. As I am not a handy person, I hired this company to come in my home to do some much needed repairs; the bathroom needed new caulking and the toilet needed to be reinstalled as it had been many years and it was a bit wobbly. They did a great job in the bathroom I'll have them back next year for a little updating to the bathroom. They also installed new water pipes under both the bathroom and kitchen sinks. I talked to the handyman Rob, concerning my gutters and painting the trim on the house. He gave me a great quote and came back 2 weeks later to do it. I had a difficult dishwasher install due to my home being older. I called many different services, but I'm glad I decided to go with Michigan's. I was able to text pictures of the job to get a very accurate quote before they came out to do the work. Patrick came out to do the install. He was on time, courteous, knowledgeable, and communicated with me VERY well. He got right down to business and had the job done in no time. I had an major issues with my front porch and blue stone patio in my backyard and they were in need of repair. I had 4 different company's out and they couldn't remedy the situation. They suggested I replaced my front porch which would have costed thousands and gave me no real solutions for my blue stone patio. I called Michigans handyman and I wish I would have from the start. I had previously had horrible experiences with painters and so I had Michigan Handyman come out and give me an estimate for painting our lower level (as well as installing our new garage door opener and flashing around our chimney). Needed twenty electrical outlet/switches replaced. Robert responded by phone very quickly after I requested him to contact me. I was in a hurry to get this work done prior to my painter doing his job in a few days. Robert did me a huge favor by scheduling the work to be done that week. He arrived when scheduled and completed the job that day even though a few of the switches were more complicated than anticipated due to the wiring being quite old and learning that some of the tyoes of switches we had were no longer made. Michigan Handyman came out to clean my gutters for the second time. I have also used them in the past season. Both times the workers were helpful and did a great job including cleanup. It was easy to set up the appointment, and the workers called and were available a little earlier than scheduled. After I paid my bill, they realized the job was overestimated, and gave me a refund. I called 5 contractors to replace my front porch steps (trip hazard), do some tuckpointing above the steps, and install a new handrail. I included photos of my damaged steps with my request to make it easy.
