I've been passing by frequently for nearly two months on my way to work usually before they're open or after they're closed on as I make my way home and finally got to stop in and explore. I have heard about this place from others but never checked it out until recently. I love plants and collect as a hobby. This was a 30 minute drive for me but that's nothing when it comes to enjoying a walk through some awesome plants. There isn't much parking and you have to find a spot on the street. Upon entering the property you are consumed with lush and rare greenery. I found many sought after plants and they were priced accordingly. There are many areas in their outdoor area as well as inside the greenhouse. Most plants have a price on the pot of on a tray if there are multiples. There is also a pottery shop although I didn't go in there. I could have easily left with a car full of plants but was able to exercise restraint and only left with a sweet Hoya Polyneura. The twin and I stopped in on my last trip to Cali on the hunt for a very particular indoor plant. We took some time to wander around and take in the beauty of each lush plant that popped out at us. I think I found my new plant store! I love the variety of plants they have here plus they have everything to pots, fertilizers, and all plant related tools you need. The staff is also very helpful for any questions I had! I recently moved to a new apartment so I was in search of new plants for my new home and I did not leave disappointed. Really awesome plant shop with all kinds of different plants in different sizes. The plants here look very healthy and happy. They're just waiting to be purchased and loved in a new home. There's a calmness here as you walk around the property and soak everything in. This shop has been here for many years and you can see the love they put into their business. The staff is friendly and helpful with all of your questions. I like that the shop is very clean and organized. It's a bit pricey, but quality is not cheap, nor should it be. I walked over here from the Tesla Diner charger which was a really quick and easy walk and super convenient for passing time. The nursery has a great variety of plants at very reasonable prices, and most of them looked healthy and well cared for. Inside they had all the pots and substrates. The staff was okay. They were not the friendliest or most approachable, but they did answer questions when asked. Unfortunately, when I got home, I discovered that my Hoya Krohniana Super Silver had severe root rot. The entire plant was basically a loss, which was really disappointing after how nice it looked in-store. Overall, it's a decent place with good selection and pricing, but I'd recommend checking plants carefully before buying. read more

Basically little plant heaven. It's a little crowded (aisles are narrow) but it's part of the charm. They have a wide variety of plants in all sizes. Every plant i saw was healthy/well taken care of and affordable! I came to buy a gift for my professor's retirement (the bonsai pictured) and ended up picking up another plant for a friend. The bonsai was 18 and the succulent was 8 dollars which is super affordable. They have a cute shop cat (possibly more than 1) who was lounging in the sun. I will be going back to buy plants for myself. They have a sign saying tips are appreciated. I assumed there might be a screen at the end of paying but there was not. My sister Cheryl Hoffman bought three Croton plants a while back and placed them in the front of her home on the way up to the Hollywood sign. One of the plants didn't make it through the rainy season so we just got a brand new one from Mickey's place. It is so beautiful. We also took one of the pots back to have them drill some holes in the bottom so the water wouldn't stand and the new one is in the center of the pictures. Look how beautiful everything is! The plants are high quality and fairly affordable for what you're getting. Francisco was SO incredibly helpful during my first visit at the beginning of September, he made me hooked on plants! Seriously! I went to Mickey Hargitay in search of some cat-friendly houseplants and came out with a half dozen plants that bring me joy as I walk around my apartment. I went back a couple of weeks ago and Jocelyn provided the same five star service. Both were so attentive and patient with me, like I said - I am a newer plant mom. This plant store looks small from the outside but if you have the opportunity to wander inside, you'll be teleported to a beautiful space with plants on plants on plants. Plus, there are a handful of cats wandering around (my favorite!) There are so many different types of plants - including those of the indoor and outdoor variety. My plants were adopted from Mickey Hargitay healthy and they continue to thrive even in their new home. OH, duh, let's not forget about the price point - the plants are so reasonably priced!!! The selection of pots is also extensive and reasonably priced. It's no wonder Mickey Hargitay has an incredible amount of reviews on Yelp - they are truly worthy of the five star rating. I've been going to Mickey's for about a year now and it's ruined all other nurseries for me. Found it by accident when I was driving around Hollywood and saw this old house completely covered in plants. What I love most is that the staff actually want you to succeed. Luke talked me through exactly what would work in my apartment (not much light) and even told me NOT to buy the expensive stuff I was eyeing because it would definitely die. Got a fiddle leaf and some pothos instead, plus a couple of succulents. Everything's still thriving, which is honestly shocking given my track record. The prices are so reasonable compared to the trendy spots. I paid $25 for a snake plant that was easily $60 at that place on Melrose. The selection is massive - they have everything from tiny succulents to huge tropical plants. It's family-owned and been around since 1980, which you can feel in how much everyone there actually cares. Fair warning: weekends get really busy, so I usually go weekday mornings. They're open every day until 5:30. My apartment has basically turned into a greenhouse at this point, but I regret nothing. read more

Got a bougainvillea that looked ok, some new leaves and they swore it was right in between blooms and expecting many more soon but when I got home to repot it had extreme root rot! Hopefully can salvage but overall disappointed they tried to sell an unhealthy plant. Called and they said they would take the plant back which is nice and that it may just be delicate bougainvillea roots, although the mushiness seems more like rot but appreciate the business being willing to take the plant back. read more

Number one is Dallas, who is a lovely young woman who works with you to give you a great ideas , and not only that she and others will bring plants to your house and help you decide where they should go. She will let you know how much water and how often. It's so easy to work with her. You sent her pictures of what your space looks like and older plants perhaps and she will make recommendations . I've done this with her a few times now and it's so much fun and easy to do. The plans that I chose are not over the top expensive and delivery I think is a fair $65. The second thing I love about this place is they have some really beautiful plans and quite a selection. I've used them several times now and would only use them. read more
