My children gifted me a 6-month subscription for my birthday, through which I receive 3 small plants each month for 6 months. I know this wasn't cheap, but they know how much I love plants -- I have over 100 indoor plants -- so it was such a thoughtful and meaningful gift. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this company due to its replacement policy and customer service. Even with a green thumb and years of experience caring for plants, almost half of the plants I received did not survive for more than a month. What is disappointing is that the company only offers a replacement or refund within 3 days of receiving the plants. Plants are living things, and sometimes issues do not become apparent immediately. A better policy would allow customers enough time to see whether the plants are truly healthy. For comparison, companies like Costa Farms have a much more customer-friendly return policy, which shows they stand behind the quality of their plants. The person who emailed my daughter today after she reached out for help was also unfriendly and unhelpful, which made the experience even more disappointing. I truly appreciate the thoughtful gift from my children -- the idea was perfect because they know me so well -- but unfortunately, this company did not live up to the expectations that came with such a special gift. read more

Absolutely, positively, the very WORST nursery I have ever been to in my entire life. I truly regret going here. I wish my client never told me about it. First time I came here, I had purchased some used terracotta pots hand made in Mexico. The pots were expensive, but I ended up buying them anyway, since I liked them so much. Julie had mentioned that these were very rare. Not realising at a much later time that these exact same pots are available at Home Depot brand new for half of the price. My second bad experience was a purchase of multiple Zebra plants. Julie had sent me pix of them, and it all looked fine until I brought them home. I had then realised that they actually look cheap and tacky compared to the ones, which I always buy at the Armstrong Garden Nursery. When I had tried to return or exchange them, Julie had refused to cooperate, and basically told me to go fly a kite. Not only are the crappy Zebras cheap and tacky looking, but she also charged me an arm and leg for them. My biggest mistake was to trust her. She genuinely doesn't care to help if you have a problem. Armstrong Garden Nursery is the best nursery for me. They also have much better quality everything. In the 20 plus years of shopping there, I never had experienced anything so bad as I have with The Staghorn Garden. I highly DO NOT recommend this place! read more

Wow I loveeeeeed it here! I'm actually from OC and was dropping my bf off at LAX. I looked up a nearby plant nursery and this one looked promising. Boy did it live up to my expectations! All the plants are so well taken care of and there is such a variety to choose from. I don't ever see some of these types of plants in other nurseries or garden stores. They have a great selection of indoor plants. I purchased two very expensive plants but immediately had difficulty with one of them. At the suggestion of the nursery I tried various solutions, none of which worked. The plant/tree has two large stems. One stem is doing fine and the other is virtually dead. If it was something I was doing wrong I would expect the whole plant to die, not 50%. I discussed returning, exchanging or refunding the purchase for which I was told by Julie (appears to be the owner) "this is not Home Depot." For a store that prides themselves on quality their customer service is abysmal. read more

The Price Quoted to me for an unremarkable jade plant seemed to me exorbitant. Perhaps I was supposed to counter, since neither this item nor almost any of the others I saw had a price marked. In any event, I suspect that their well established volume customers, such as landscapers, design firms, corporate and the like, would get a very large discount off the price I was quoted. Julie the owner was there at 6 pm on a Sunday and she incredibly helpful. You can tell that her employees are happy-- they are all friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of things you won't find elsewhere. And she has her own little parking lot where you can drive right in and you're just pointing what you want and they'll load it in your car for you. Today was my first visit to the new location. What a perfect place to stroll around after brunch. The selection here is monstrous. I had a lot of fun talking with Julie who owns the store. She was wonderful, encouraging me to look around and enjoy myself. There is a huge selection of colorful planters and prices are very reasonable. Big and bossy fiddle leafs, tons of monstera, lots of lovely hanging plants, and large selection of succulents. This nursery opened up recently and I had a pleasure of visiting. The business was originated in Santa Monica, by the promenade on 4th street, but, as the owners were ready to retire, their daughter took over and opened this amazing plant shop at a new location. The place looks absolutely gorgeous and offers many different kinds of plans. It is a great store for people looking to buy small plans as well as big ones. She has an amazing collection of original pots and all of her plans are very healthy and beautiful. If you are in the area, definitely stop by! Julie -- the owner -- is great! She is an expert on everything in the garden. After realizing that I had been a customer at her family's Santa Monica nursery, Julie put my name into her phone and helped me to find the best plant and planter for our living room. I purchased a large gold ceramic planter. I thought it was pricey until I looked at other ceramic planters at other places. Her planters are carefully made and beautiful. I also purchased a 12-foot-high ficus tree for our living room. She helped me to maintain the health of the ficus tree through the transition from her garden to my living room by talking me through the loss of leaves (too much water) and replanting (putting bark on the bottom and the side of the pot; then soil in the rest of the pot.) The plants/trees are the best on the West Side. Julie is an expert in trees; has a keen eye for how a tree will fit in your space, and provides supportive service. I strongly recommend you visit The Staghorn and enjoy it for yourself. read more

Do not use this florist. I received a plant from Staghorn as a gift. The plant that I received was totally different from how it was explained to the person who purchased it - much smaller, not the gift packaging explained, and it was infested with bugs. I tried to remedy the problem by putting it outside, treating it with Neem, etc. It was so big ridden though that this was ineffective. I called the florist to find out what to do. I spoke with the owner Julie, who was unhelpful, defensive and rude. She told me to the plant outside and there was nothing she could do. She then hung up on me. There are so many reputable and helpful florists in Santa Monica. Don't make the mistake of using Staghorn Gardens. read more
