This was a great idea. Then he proceeded to draw diagrams and take notes right on his phone, finishing within an amazingly short time. I thought that his bid was very reasonable. He assembled beautiful new redwood boxes at home, with no mistakes in the measurements, and started to install them a week after he first visited my home, finishing the job 2 days after that. I was extremely pleased with the fact that he managed to transfer all of my plants from the old boxes to the new ones without damaging the plants. Some of these plants with their root balls were extremely heavy, so that the two men working really had to strain to lift them using straps. I also liked the fact that he took away all of the considerable debris, including the old rotten planter boxes, and cleaned up thoroughly. Jose is extremely smart, careful and efficient. He works from early in the morning into the evening. He has a lot of impressive machinery that he brings to the job. He listens to his customers and makes every effort to satisfy them. It took several visits and multiple parts and the problem would go away for a few days and then come back. Finally on the morning of November 6, 2024 Mario asked for, and got, another $240 for parts. Later that day I asked him to forget about it, tear up the check. We decided to buy a new refrigerator. I've been trying to get my $240 back ever since with no success. I do not have exact records of the many times I called Mario asking for my $240 refund. For the last few months, they have gone to voicemail because he no longer takes my calls. I do know when I texted him: December 30, January 1 and 28, February 4, 12, 14, 18, 19 and 28, March 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 26, 28, 29 and 30. On March 20, I phoned and texted Mario that I wanted my refund by the end of the month. There was no response to most of the texts but here are the times that Mario did respond and what he said. * November 10, 2024 - The parts were ordered and paid for, and would be delivered this week; I'd have to wait until they arrived and could be returned for a refund before I could my $240 back. (The check cleared my bank on November 12.) * January 1, 2025 - I am out of town and I'll be back January 15. * February 4, 2025 - I was in LA, let me check tomorrow. * February 28, 2025 - I'll need to arrive first to send your check. * March 5, 2025 - I am driving from LA to East Bay. * March 8, 2025 -- I'll send check this Monday. * March 21, 2025 - I will be back tomorrow. On March 7, 2025, I texted Mario about a scam I saw on TV which was being run by Box Appliance in San Mateo County. They were taking money for repairs that never happened. The next day Mario got upset, thought I was trying to intimidate him, and promised to send the check on Monday. Obviously, Mario did not send me a $240 check as he claimed on March 8. As of April 1, 2025, I have not gotten my $240 back. nor heard from Mario.
