This place has SHARK sales people. They will follow you everywhere, and they don't know crap about PC's, they just push whatever costs most it seems. Walked in here on Sunday 11/30 and although the place seems pretty huge all of the apple stuff is over to a little side corner which was good because it was easy to find. However, I was unimpressed with the cost somehow I was under the impression that the prices would be better here. I came here to get a new battery for my laptop and the staff helped me find the right kind. It was a little difficult to find my way around the store, but once I found the isle for the batteries, I saw that there were so many kinds (who knew there were so many battery types?) and I wasn't sure which battery would work with my laptop. I spent a while trying to google battery types on my smart phone before the staff noticed that I needed help and they helped me find the exact kind of battery my laptop needed. They even sold me a warranty in case the battery breaks. All in all, a good shopping experience. read more

Questionable Pricing - I've always rooted for Microcenter and have purchased stuff there over Amazon as long as it was reasonably close in price, even paying a little extra because it's a local store. Couple weeks ago I purchased a hard drive for $95 which was close to the price at Amazon. Just received a $10 coupon from Microcenter in the mail and decided to use it to purchase another of the same hard drive,. When I got there, found the drive was now $105. So they sent out the coupons and raised the prices by $10. I ended up buying the drive from Amazon. I am no longer going to give Microcenter the same courtesy as in the past. Unless pricing is less than Amazon, I won't buy there any more. read more

This is a decent store for computer accessories and parts that other stores typically don't carry how're you must know exactly what you are looking for and/or need. Customer service is terrible. I have been shopping at this location for 10+years and I have found one employee helpful (purchasing a tablet for my mother years prior). Today I came in looking to spend $400-$500 on a ultra portable laptop. Had the one in mind, took 20 minutes to even be acknowledged. When I finally got someone to get the laptop, he proceeded to tell me it was not a good one and was trying to sell me one that was way over my budget. Too bad for his commission. I needed some replacement capacitors for my TV and Radio Shack didn't have them. So they recommended that I check out Micro Center. I walked all around the store trying to find where the capacitors were. I finally found someone who could direct me to where they were. But he didn't work in that area, so then I had to wait around for someone who did know that area so that I could get some help. The capacitors were HORRIBLY disorganized. All mixed together. It made it really hard to find the specific capacitors that I needed. I did leave with some though - not exactly what I needed, but close enough I hoped. My recommendation to Micro Center is more staff and more frequent organization! read more

This place has everything you could possibly need for your computer or audio/visual equipment. I'm compelled to give this review after buying my new computer this weekend. It was tax-free weekend and Micro Center was slammed but they didn't see frantic or rushed. Everyone was smiling and polite and incredibly willing to help. I had to return my first laptop after realizing it lacked some features I needed and they had me in and out in no time. I've bought my past 3 computers here and also bought my TV here. Typical Bait & Switch advertising. After much research I waited for the computer I selected to go on sale. The day I received the circular I went in to buy it and was told they had sold out, but they had their own private label computer available that met, or exceeded the specs on the computer I went in to purchase. Wow. Apple authorized dealer? This place is like a big radio shack with 1970's looks and service. Called in advance and was told to bring it in and they said they could fix it as long as it was the hard drive. Came in, was a mess where no one knew who was Next in line, had to sign on with a hand written form (in a technology store in 2016), had to fend off customers who tried to get ahead because of the confusion, only for the clerk to come out and tell me 15 minutes later my computer is obsolete and can't do anything for me. Interested in a company that will treat you right when your laptop is on the fritz? Then avoid this company. First, it is almost impossible to reach someone on the phone when you call in; "sale representatives are helping other customers" is what you will hear for 10 to 30 minutes. If you need to leave a voice mail, the company doesn't have it! Don't purchase the company's warranty service; it isn't worth paper it is written on. My laptop died 4 weeks ago and I have received the runaround; it took a week to get a box to mail the laptop back (and then they sent the box to the wrong address). It took another week for the company to look at my laptop. They told me they can't fix it but won't tell me what they did to determine what was wrong. For the past 2 weeks, I've left messages for someone is MIcroCenter's so called "customer service" to return my call about next steps. read more

I am so done with their nerdy sales people. They know absolute squat about squat. My suggestion is DO YOUR RESEARCH before going into this store. Ask where a certain product is then tell him you are done with them and need no more assistance, because they will feed you a line of BS and try to sell you on something for your solution and by the time you get home you find out it is the wrong product. Disregard these commissioned sales people and deny them their stickers. You ain't gonna make a commission off you wrong advice. This is not a one time occurrence. I have been a long time customer and I am getting closed permanently boycotting this store. The sales people do not qualify as techs. If you find yourself uncertain about what to get, just leave the store and go home and do your homework on their website about an exact product. If they don't have it then go online somewhere else because their sales force are worthless. They do not deserve the gratification of servicing me anymore. I have to go up and exchange once again. Plus I beat their prices online most the time. Scan their products with your phone and ignore them if the price is lower get them to match it. Pick a product off the shelf that significantly higher than online retailers and ask,"Why is your price so high?" And watch the expressions their face. Priceless just priceless. Absolutely DETEST this store and the business itself which touts itself as THE SOURCE for all computer related anything. No one ever available to help find anything. Had a guy actually roll his eyes at me when I asked for help. Today went in and purchased a refurbished keyboard only to find I could not locate the drivers (turns out in was INSIDE THE MOUSE). When I called CS to point out I couldn't find the drivers he "suggested" I download them from the internet to which I asked if he understood how a wireless keyboard worked. My question was met with a snarky "Well thank you for your question. GOOD-BYE." and the mofo hung up on me. Called back and LeAnn was kind enough to point out that the driver was inside the Mouse. I have bought a couple of laptops from here in the past. I'm leaving the review here and now because I just went through a video card crisis. I purchased an Nvidia card here and suffered through troubleshooting it (not Micro Center's fault). I'm very good with computers, but the Nvidia card is absolute trash (not defective... just a bad product). I was thankful that Micro Center provides a technical support line for purchases so that I could bounce some troubleshooting ideas off of them. Nvidia support was next to useless. Anyway, I could not get the Nvidia card to function properly without crashing every 5 minutes, so I gave up and took it back. They helped me exchange it, and I found the new video card that I wanted to exchange for. The new video card apparently did not come with a low profile bracket since my computer is a slimline tower, but Micro Center staff went above and beyond and took out a bracket from another card and even assembled the bracket for me at the front counter for free. I was very impressed. They didn't give me the second bracket I needed for the VGA adapter, but I went over to Fry's and bought a $5 bracket kit. Now, my video card is running A-okay, and I love it (I despise Nvidia now.). I got a $30 discount on the new card because the box was open, and it's great. It was exactly the one I wanted (It's pretty, too... if I might add). Mind you, I got this level of customer service without spending $100's there. It's a $60 video card. I would give Micro Center 5 stars, but I feel like the original sales associate should have talked with me more about the Nvidia card that sucked and found out what I needed better and could have been more informed on the problems Nvidia video card drivers have (Nvidia = absolute garbage... Was really impressed with Microcenter. I bought an LG OLED TV 35 months ago and I purchased the Microcenter extended warranty. The TV died a couple days ago, so I called it in and was told I still had 2 weeks left on the warranty. I was told that they won't fix that model so bring it in for a full refund. I thought there would be more of a fight since I only had 2 weeks left in the warranty period, but they honored it with no questions asked. read more

I've used this Microcenter location multiple times since 2003 when buying my first Macintosh and they gave a round of applause when someone bought a new computer. Macs have gotten worse but the store stays the same. They don't give applause anymore, but that's fine as I don't need the attention. And the appearance is more than satisfactory for me. It's a large store and I don't need them spending money on aesthetics that I may notice and not like, when they can save me money on product. Can't stand the over organized chaotic restraint of Apple stores nor the pretentious sales people. Yeah, they have some issues with not enough and or less than eager to help staff, but any store I've been to in my life has those issues. Plus, the economy is not the best, so they probably cut back on staff at times. They've had a bad problem with answering phones as long as I can remember. The best staff are the cashiers, repair desks personnel, Ruth and Scott in the Apple area and Carl, the best Apple technician I've used and he's repaired almost every Mac I've owned. Ready to bring another to him before the warranty runs out. Simply Mac, in Macon, has tried twice to fix it. Apple engineers are looking into it's problems. I'm sure Carl can fix it or tell me it's best to have Apple send me a replacement. Never had anyone try to up sell me. I know what I want and what I need (most of the time). Just need to know where it is sometimes. I've been to the Duluth location twice (10+ yrs ago), but the Apple dept. was barely there, same for knowledgeable Apple sales persons. So I'll still drive a couple hundred miles to Carl for repairs and Ruth and Scott for sales When I'm up that way. read more

This store sold my 70 year old father a $2,400 laptop that can't even copy/paste. The manager offered to "look at it", but why would we want someone to troubleshoot something that works on 99.99% of pcs with no issue, much less a high end one. As far as I'm concerned this is bordering on fraud towards the elderly. Fortunately they baited my father into an overpriced warranty as well, so they will likely take it back, but without one we'd likely be screwed with a $2,400 brick. Useful if you need a part quickly; the items are typically well priced, which is about all I can say for this location. Every time I've been, it is just about impossible to get help from a salesperson there.. and all I usually need is help figuring out where in the chaos it is! I've almost always ended up having to use their computer terminal to just look up its location myself. That being said, the prices are OK, its close, and has those parts that you just won't be able to find at a BestBuy / Target. I would really prefer to go to a Fry's, but the nearest one just isn't worth the drive; this place will fit the bill in a pinch. read more
