My son and I are staying here right now, and I can honestly say this is one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. The place is run down from top to bottom -- stained carpets, peeling paint, and a musty odor that never goes away. The room didn't feel clean when we walked in, and nothing about this property feels safe or well-maintained. We are on the second floor and all night all you heard was people screaming in the hallway, slamming doors and pounding on the doors for others to let them in. The entire hotel smells like weed. You get a contact high as soon as you walk onto the floor. The us no elevator. The stairs are not cleaned. Half drunk pop/beer bottles under the stairs and some on the stairs. You can tell people live here, not just stay here. (I understand this - we're living in tough times right now.) The "free breakfast" is barely edible, the Wi-Fi barely works, and the whole place feels neglected. For the price they charge, it's ridiculous that they can't provide even basic cleanliness or guest comfort. If you value your money, your time, or your peace of mind, avoid this hotel. There are plenty of other options in Dayton that actually care about their guests. read more

I travel all over the country for work, and this was the worst hotel that I have ever seen. There were stains all over the room, the furniture was falling apart. The smoke alarm was hanging by a wire from the ceiling. The room smelled as if there was something rotten there. They offered to give me another room, but based on the condition of this one, I chose to stay elsewhere. If I could give negative stars I would,but app won't let you. read more

Better than camping, but not much. Dirty, smelly room (smelled of stale smoke). Everything was horribly worn, I brought my own pillow and blankets in this trip and I'm so glad I had them! It's a terrible place to stay. It smells of cigarette smoke in the rooms, even though there is a no smoking policy. There seems to be little to no pride of ownership in this place, given the upkeep. Our door would hardly open into the bathroom because the tiles were cracked and offset on the floor, hole in the door that was "patched" by laminent of a different color, vent fan was exposed and the shower head was hanging pretty poorly on the wall. Looks decent from the outside. First impression was the dampness and musty smell in the room. The sheets even felt damp. Has the potential to be a nice place but small details ruin it. Trim pieces falling off the wall. The hideous yellow paint. The drains in the bathroom were loose. The covers where the shower curtain attaches to the wall was just there. A piece of wood under the window seat that wasn't trimmed short enough to fit and therefore stuck out, being a trip hazard. Overall the dampness was the major concern. read more

Our bed is uncomfortable and sinks! Room smelled like cigarettes the moment we walked in. It is SUPPOSED to be non-smoking. The toilet ia really close to the counter in the bathroom too. Never again! I think it's unprofessional how this company doesn't respond to anyone's reviews. read more

Found bed bugs in my room. Showed the clerk the pictures when I left the room. Called Priceline to get room cancelled as I was planning on there there for work the next week. They called manager. Manger tell them no bud bugs in their hotel. A pic is worth a thousand words. read more

Read the reviews before you book a room here and take your money elsewhere. This hotel was filthy and disgusting. I slept with the lights on and the entire hotel and our room smelled very strong of old stale cigarette smoke. I would have paid good money to sleep in a tent over this Microtel Inn and I would not have stayed here if I hadn't prepaid for my room online. It was not a nice place - and I am not a picky person, not at all. I will never stay with Wyndham again - I can't believe their name is even associated with a hotel that is this bad. read more

This motel was undergoing a much needed renovation when I stayed here. Maintenance that has been done over the years was done without care the impact on the appearance of the room. Examples, closet door removed but hardware and framing remains; TV relocated but the old mount is still in place; sink was replaced and needed additional support which was done with wood strips nailed to the wall. Everything in the bathroom has been re-caulked over top of previous re-caulking. Furniture needs to be pulled away from the wall and cleaned behind. Filth clearly visible from the bed. Staff was polite and attentive. Breakfast offered waffles. read more

I stayed here August 5-7 and had a mildly unpleasant experience. Pros: Wi-Fi Cons: Poor security/safety/health conditions (broken security latch, broken and unrepaired mercury CFL, probably bed bugs) The rooms were adequate and had built-in air conditioning/heating. There was apparently no thermostat, it was just on/off. Weirdly, there was a dark mirror over the bed, which had the look of one-way glass -- it kind of felt like I was being spied on, although I doubt that was the case. Window slid open maybe half a foot to allow air in. Curtain did not block parking lot lights very well at night. Bathroom was adequate, although the water was disgustingly soft, and it was quite hard to get just the right temperature in the shower, either freezing or burning if you were the slightest bit off. Our door had a broken door bar (a slide-type equivalent of the door chain), as though someone had broken into the room by force and the staff had never replaced the latch. Not reassuring. The free WiFi was nice (although it disappeared randomly for about an hour at one point) and did not have a click-through page. It was not encrypted, so I had to use an SSH tunnel. Not a biggie. When housekeeping knocked the second day, we told them they weren't needed. Later on we discovered a broken compact fluorescent light above the window, which was unsettling -- it would have released mercury vapor when broken, and the room is closed-circulation. We told the front desk, and they seemed concerned but said it would be fixed. It wasn't, but housekeeping came through anyway. When we were getting ready for bed the second night, we discovered we had bed bug bites all over our feet and legs. Horrible! It could conceivably have been from the Greyhound bus we took the previous day, but I doubt it, based on the 16-hours-later timing. Since I can't be entirely sure, I won't give the place the 1-star rating. It's close, though. "Breakfast" was some plain white bagels, some small muffins, nearly empty plastic containers of cereal, milk, alleged fruit juice (didn't taste it), and butter, half'n'half, & jelly packets. The jelly and cereal contained HFCS. Basically, don't expect food. Conclusion: If you want a cruddy place to crash, I suppose you could technically do worse. Make sure to keep your luggage off the carpet and away from the bed, and put all your contaminated clothes through the dryer to kill any bugs or eggs when you get home. read more

We stayed here on New Year's Eve overnight, while visiting friends in Dayton. The building looked all right from the outside, but the surrounding area was very run-down overall, and upon closer inspection, you could see that there were little exterior maintenance issues (our room window had a giant crack in it) that could use attention. Microtel is a franchise, which basically means that the owner gets to do as he/she pleases with the property - and this owner didn't seem to do much, except provide low prices, which is fine. Other Microtels might be wildly different than this one. I wouldn't rule out the brand name forever. Upon first entry, we were bombarded with secondhand smoke smell, despite lots of signs forbidding smoking in common areas posted around. We stayed in a "non-smoking" room, but, it was still filled with smoke from the other rooms, and even with the fan on, we could not avoid the clouds of smoke rolling in under the door all night long, and we smelled the next day like we spent the evening in a seedy casino somewhere - it had seeped into our luggage and perfumed the fresh clothes that we packed! I even had dreams about smoking! The bed was low to the ground, and of pretty poor quality, you could feel each spring grinding and popping inside as you sat on the mattress, and it was overall really bouncy, so that if my boyfriend rolled over, it was pretty turbulent. Linens and pillows were low-quality, but presumably clean. I was really worried about bedbugs and checked for signs... maybe that's why everything was of minimal quality, perhaps they just had to replace everything... can't say for sure. The furniture was also really... basic...? The closet and drawers and things were like the kid's room kits you can get at a discount store, which I'm sure are functional enough - but they're not very nice-looking or durable-feeling, which is kind of a bummer when you spend money for an overnight stay somewhere. I mean, really, half the greatness of being in a hotel is having something you don't have at home, and I just found myself wishing I were home, here! I didn't use the following, so, I can't comment on quality - but the room did also come with a microwave, fridge, and a flat-screen TV. I had to use the powerstrip that the TV was plugged into to charge my phone overnight, the wall sockets were strangely loose, and the prongs on my charger kept falling out of them. It said there was wifi, but I couldn't get much of a signal on the 2nd floor, and didn't really bother to keep trying. Even for the low price, it was really not worth it. We won't stay there again, but if you smoke - and are looking for a bare-bones place to crash - this motel might be right up your alley! read more

Stayed here last week while visiting my niece and her new service dog, who were training at 4 Paws for Ability. The room wasn't bad at all. The big mirror behind the bed is very creepy and odd. I assume it's to make the room look bigger. They should just take it down because it almost looks like a one way mirror o.O We went downstairs in the morning and grabbed some breakfast around 7:30. The guy behind the counter was passed out sleeping until I made a waffle and the timer going off woke him up. The free breakfast consisted of waffles, cereal, muffins, bagels, toast, juice, coffee, and milk. The waffles were amazing. The muffins were two packs that I'm guessing they use for vending machines and the guy behind the counter just takes them out of the package and puts them in the case. Overall a good hotel to stay in if you are passing through. It's location is ideal and it's a great value. read more

Smelly. The bed was soft to the point that you sink into it and feel like your feet are higher than your head...not easy for me to sleep like that. No hair dryer in the room! Had to call the front desk and was told to wait half an hour and then go to the front desk to get one...then was told I had to bring it right back when done. Agree with Tim M's assessment from 2011. It's 2014 and the place has gotten worse. We were offered the same room with the creepy one way glass looking mirror on the wall above the bed. Behind that wall is a storage room, so I wouldn't be surprised if it really was one way glass. The latch on the door was missing, though there were dozens of screw holes where it had been repeatedly installed. Very sketchy. Pretty sure there was an adult business operating out of the room next to ours, based on conversation easily overheard through the very thin walls. We declined to stay the night and drove another several hours after midnight so we wouldn't have to stay there. No refund either, of course. Listed online as three stars- 1 seems generous. read more

JUST. DON'T. We thought because it was a Windham it would be okay. We were so wrong. The room was so dirty and smelled awful. It was very clear the "non-smoking" room had been smoked in and then heavily air freshened. The smell was bloody awful. I cannot make you understand how bad that room smelled. We tried to find another hotel but it was college weekend. There was pee on the toilet. The drains and shelves have never been cleaned. They have never used fabric softener on the towels, they hurt. Dirt and dust everywhere. The carpet had that slimy feel. We were booked for 4 people but they gave us two towels and two pillows. And we had to keep asking for what we needed. The pull out was wrapped in ripped plastic and they had to "track down" a sheet to cover it. Not even a fitted sheet. The tv would not connect and we had to keep going to get the remote to change HDMI channels. There was an ironing board but no iron. We asked for a cot and the springs were poking through it. It was unbelievable. We returned it and had our youngest sleep on the cushions. Breakfast cannot be called breakfast. Coffee and a waffle machine. A bowl with 3 apples and a case with old muffins. People rang the door bell to the place all night long waking us up. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everyone else's tv. Including the owners at 3 am. The AC won't stay on more than 5 minutes at a time. Seriously do not easy here. Windham should shut this place down. read more

The staff is friendly and helpful, but both nights I stayed there, there was no "complimentary breakfast" available as advertised. The only reason I am giving this hotel a 2 is because the staff seemed friendly. The room however was horrible. When we walked into the room it smelled of mildew and was musty. When we laid down in the bed it felt wet, I think it was from the moisture in the air. The toilet set was filthy, my husband had to clean it off for me. When I went to take a bath the tub had mildew spots on it, that came right off when I used the wash cloth. I got out of the tub very quickly. we wanted to go to another hotel since I am pregnant, we were worried about the air quality in the room. we decided to stay and get the hell out of there as early as possible. You know how you smell after a day/night at the casino and you smell your hair and your clothes? Multiply that by 10 and thats what this hotel smells like. As other reviewers have stated, I have never seen so many "Do not smoke or you will be charged" signs, but it smelled so bad you might have thought they were handing out free cigarettes at the hotel desk. And I would be remiss to not mention that this is by far the filthiest hotel I have ever seen. My wife and I arrived very late and tired and the room (Which had lime green and lemon yellow painted walls with full wall mirrors on all remaining walls, a broken shower rod that allowed the shower head to empty on the bathroom floor, filthy carpet) did not seem to smell as bad as the lobby, stairs and hallways, so we just crashed for the night. I really did not notice the bed quality, mostly because as the night progressed, all I could think of was the smell which got worse as the night went on. And did I mention there is no elevator?? Its only 2 floors but be prepared to lug your stuff up the stairs... Needless to say, we checked out pronto at 6am and found a much better hotel a bit further from our family we were here to see. The only reason I booked here was location and the brand name recognition Wyndham, how bad can it be? Well, it can be pretty darn bad... The old saying "You get what you pay for" is so true, no hidden gem here, pay $40 more per night and travel a few miles further and get a hotel worth sleeping in. read more

No the best hotel I've ever been to but you get what you pay for. There were burn holes in the sheets (in a non smoking room) and a few holes in the shower curtain and bathroom door, but the holes were more comedic than discomforting if anything. All in all this hotel was not bad given the price. read more
