Check in and out was all communication through text message, you have a code provided to lock and unlock the door. During our 2 day jaunt over to the Buckeye state, we needed a home base for our adventures and found one in the quirky Yellow Springs, Ohio. Opting for the loft suite next to the main Jailhouse, we got settled in after re-reading the easy-to-follow instructions from our hosts. The loft features high ceilings and my wife compared it to staying in a treehouse. The room was immaculate and had several amenities, like a coffee pot and a microwave, so one could enjoy breakfast in-house if that was in your plans. There's also an adorable breakfast nook under a window looking out over the trees. Yellow Springs, Ohio is certainly my kind of quirky and lived up to expectations. From Jailhouse, it's a short walk, say five minutes, down to the heart of the town, and the famed Little Miami trail. This is a perfect location for those hoping to enjoy what the town has to offer. My husband and I wanted to spend a quiet evening in Yellow Springs. He heard about this place and read great reviews. Plus it is very historical. When we pulled up, we were amazed how beautiful this building is. The landscape was gorgeous(they have a garden area) and love the color of the building. The owner was great with communication, paid credit card over the phone and did not have to check in through a lobby/front desk, put in a code on the front door. That easy. We got the suite which was on the top floor. We walked in and loved it. It was newly renovated and really clean. Awesome decor. It did not feel like a hotel. There was a kitchen, (pots pans, utensils refrigerator, filtered water) and a keurig coffee maker (which is a bonus), widescreen tv (in living room and bedroom), dining area, extra toiletries if needed, extra towels, and building is solar energy My only con was the bed was not comfortable and the hot water did not stay long if you wanted to take a bath. I would highly recommend this place if you would like to stay in Yellow Springs. Only minutes away from downtown. read more

I loved staying here! We had a girl's trip and my friend and I stayed in the Loft and the rest of our group were around the corner in the suite and the master suite. Everything worked great and was clean. The reservation process was a breeze and I loved having a code instead of a key. Just off the beaten path and a short walk into town, it is a perfect getaway! We stayed here on a Thursday & Friday night and were absolutely thrilled with the Loft Suite. It was small but sufficient for just my husband and I; super clean and cozy! The bed was comfortable and the shower was great! We were really only there between hikes anyway. Loved the electric fireplace; it really put out the heat! I've determined everytime we go to Yellow Spring for a weekend getaway, we will reserve the Jailhouse Loft. This loft honestly fulfilled all our expectations. But before I talk about the actual room, I want to mention the owner, Robert. Once I reserved the room, Robert corresponded with me via email about the room, what I need to do to check in, what to expect, etc. After we dropped our luggage off in the room, I asked him recommendations on where to get lunch. Now Yellow Spring is small and easy to walk (Jailhouse Suites is really only a couple blocks from the center of town), so we could have found something on our own. He offered to take us in his golf cart and give us a brief tour of the town. It was a really nice gesture and just showed how welcoming the people are. Now onto the room. Since it's a loft, it occupies the upper level/attic area of a barn like structure. We walk up the stairs and there is a nice patio set for 2 next to the front door. To enter there is a keypad. Robert provides the code ahead of time. The loft has sloped ceilings, hardwood floors, 4 windows and is perfect for 2. The space has a queen size bed, tv with cable, small kitchen (sink, toaster, fridge), dining nook, office desk and full bath. The room also has wifi and air conditioning. This space is absolutely perfect, all the amenities you are looking for, private, quiet and modern. My only issue really is that the water pressure from the shower head could have been stronger. So to sum up Jailhouse Suites, it is clean, quiet, full of amenities, close to town, modern and affordable. I HIGHLY recommend it. read more

Booking was a breeze, and I couldn't be more complimentary about my experience with Jailhouse Suites. My next trip to Yellow Springs (there will be a longer stay, as this past trip was only one night) will include a stay with Jailhouse Suites and I will be quick to recommend it to others. We stayed in the Jailhouse Loft, which was an adorable, tiny, functional room with all necessary accommodations -- queen bed, full bathroom with plenty of towels, kitchenette (with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and filtered water), wifi, television -- just a short walk into town. The location was wonderful, and the entire booking process was seamless. From making the initial reservation to receiving text messages and emails prior to arrival; to arriving to a clean, comfortable space, and "checking out" via text message, it was a wonderful experience. It's worth mentioning how great the keycode entry was, how much we loved having a small patio to enjoy morning coffee, and how reasonably priced it all was. Not a traditional bed and breakfast, Jailhouse Suites instead provided a $5 coupon towards breakfast at Williams Eatery, which was a short walk into town (about 2-3 blocks). I was afraid that, because we had a coupon, the place would be on the pricier side. I couldn't have been more wrong. We had a full breakfast and, after using the coupon, paid about $10 (before tip) for our meal. Just wonderful. Cannot say enough good things about Jailhouse Suites! I can't wait to come back and spend more time in town. read more

If you're inclined toward introversion and shy away from such places for fear of having to visit with the host, FEAR NOT! The reservation process was online and simple. Great guest house/bed and breakfast! Rooms were very stylish, comfortable, clean, and everything worked well. For a bed and breakfast, they are very advanced technologically. Everything is done via email and you get a door code to enter and exit. No Breakfast but you get a 5 doller coupon for an awesome local spot that is so cheap 5 bucks will basically pay for one persons breakfast. They also give you a coupon for a free beer at the local brewery. Very impressed! And $100 a night on a weekday is a steal! read more

Jailhouse Suites Loft is one of the best rooms my husband and I have ever stayed in. It is very clean. The owner is just a text away with any need. You enter a predetermined code to get in the room. They have the 'tiny house' room designed perfectly with anything you might need. The little deck is great. Walk to the eclectic village of Yellow Springs. A few gift certificates are one of the perks. We used the 'First pint is on us' certificate at the Yellow Springs brewery. Hiking at Clifton Gorge, Young's Dairy Farm, Pfeiffer's Orchard, etc. are all minutes away. You will not be disappointed! read more

My mom and I stayed at the Jailhouse for two night and it was wonderful. We stayed in the loft studio and loved every minute. Very clean and well put together. The garden area is beautiful and a great side porch for morning coffee. The jailhouse is close to the the down town area - within walking distance - which is a huge bonus. My fiancé and I love YS and this is our new favorite place to stay. The Jailhouse Tower is perfect. From the moment you book, the owner is in contact with you via email. There is code to get in which is great because you don't have to have a specific check in time. The owner texts you when the room is ready and you can text them with any issues. There are many perks with the room -- like the 5.00 gift card at a great local restaurant. The room is an apartment with a living room, dining area, small kitchen, bed, and bathroom. It's clean and well-maintained. It has everything you could want for a night or an extended stay. It also has great light and large windows. The building is lovely and the gardens are incredible. My husband and I love Yellow Springs, and we try to make it up often. We live about an hour away. In planning our mini-vacation for our birthday and anniversary celebrations, we decided to stay at the Jailhouse Suites in the Tower Suite and it was perfect! With the high airy ceilings, it was like staying in a large studio apartment. And we had all the amenities of home within walking distance of the Village. The suite was very clean and well stocked with coffee, towels, extra pillows, etc... Just like a 5-star hotel, but more reasonably priced! I would definitely recommend the Jailhouse Suites to anyone, and we would definitely stay again. read more

We were in the Master Suite at 309 Union St. in Yellow Springs, Ohio for two nights (May,2017). Very impressed. Like a small apartment with everything provided. As nice as a good hotel and better in terms of efficiency and privacy. Spotlessly clean. Host very considerate and communicated with us by text to see if we needed anything. We were so happy with everything. So surprised by all the cottage had to offer. From the coffee and tea to the bath soaps and shampoos. I was not expecting all of that, great to know for future visits. Loved to sit on the porch right outside of our door. So peaceful but yet a very short walk to all the quaint shops and restaurants. Loved checking in by email such an easy process. We will definitely be back to try out the jailhouse next time. Everyone in town knew who Bob was and all had great things to say about all of his properties.
