Beautiful hotel!! Still had that "new hotel smell." Breakfast included eggs, bacon, croissants, oatmeal with toppings, and incredible orange juice. The apple juice was watered down. Super sweet breakfast waitress! Nice little pool. Sparkling clean bathrooms. Convenient office area with 2 computers right by the coffee. Very very good morning coffee. The only reason I am giving 4 stars rather than 5 was the receptionist was less than accommodating at check in. I prepaid and called to tell the receptionist to go ahead and check in my parents. Ti said she couldn't without a credit card. I said "I'll give you my card in 20 minutes. Go ahead and check them in." She refused. I arrived to find my parents enjoying coffee in the lounge. They were out of regular coffee at 3:30pm, and my parents settled for decaf. Ti said there would be a $20 fee if I lost my 2 little plastic room keys. I stay in hotels all the time, and this is the first time I've been told this. I requested 2 beds but was told I could only have 1. I offered to pay an upcharge and they said no. I left my parents in the hotel and went to stay with my fiance. I had hoped to stay with my parents. The next time my parents visit Dayton, I will put them in a holiday inn because they don't threaten to charge me if I lose the room keys, and I can always get 2 beds if I ask. read more

Nice room appearance. Except.... You can't adjust the temp. Hot as hell. Slept like crap. My son was in another room and said the same thing. Low water pressure and soap doesn't rinse off since it's soft water. I feel slick. Went to the front desk for towels. They are out of towels. What??? And had to knock on the wall to have the desk person get off her private call to help me. Sooooo. read more

While the room itself was nice, the bathroom was in desperate need of repair. Wallpaper torn, caulking missing. I should have asked for a different room when we we saw the bathroom but infortunately did not. We came back one evening and found the bathroom tub infested with dozens of ants. We talked to the front desk and their response was " no one's around." Finally, my husband went downstairs to talk to the desk clerk who eventually came up to remove ants. Obviously, the ants were coming from some where and getting rid of them needed attention. The hotel was filled so we couldn't change rooms. Perfectly nice low/mid priced hotel a little south of Dayton. SpringHill suites offer rooms larger than the typical Marriott -- so there's a little seating area and desk to go along with the bed and bathroom. Clean and comfortable. We made a request for foam pillows (allergies) which the front desk team accommodated without issue. Virtually everyone we encountered from the hotel was super friendly. Breakfast included -- it was pretty well picked over by the time we made it, but was a standard breakfast-inclusive hotel buffet of eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, a variety of breads, fruit, juice, and coffee. Won't win any Michelin stars, but again, just fine. I'll add that the team working the dining room were absolutely wonderful -- super polite and super service oriented. There's also a little convenience store with some snacks and essentials next to the front desk, but no bar or restaurant. It's near a strip of local and chain/franchise outlets of every type imaginable, so there are ample options nearby. "Fitness center" is pretty sparse -- two treadmills, an elliptical, and a set of free weights with no bench on which to use them. Never saw anyone in it -- and since I'm a biker, went elsewhere to work out. Pool was a family recreation pool, so not appropriate for swimming laps (nor was it represented as a lap pool...) Only real criticism has to do with housekeeping knocking on doors at 7:30 on Saturday morning (!) -- imagine the hotel was full as it appears to host sports teams on the weekends, so the housekeeping folks had a long list of rooms to service...but that was pretty early in the am... Second time we've stayed here in as many years of visiting (for college sports). Again, not going to win any awards for best hotels in the world, but a perfectly nice place to stay at the price point. read more

My husband and I checked in on Sunday 3/23. We're from the area and are in the process of moving back. I'm pregnant and we had our dog with us. At first, all was well. The location is great (and the only reason they aren't getting one star), but beware of the entrance if your car sits low. Once in the room, we noticed it was stuffy and warm. That's not super uncommon when first getting to a hotel, so we adjusted the thermostat and tried to relax. The next day, we found out our air wasn't working after I received an email stating our dog was barking all day. Turns out, she was overheated. We ended up having to take our dog with us apartment hunting all week because it was getting so hot in there and it was safer to keep her in the car. The thermostat was reading 77+ most of the time we were there. It was set on 59 and the fan on auto per the front desk's direction. An employee was sent up to our room to check the settings and left a note assuring us it should work. The image I attached is from after the employee was in our room. My husband has several other images of it ranging from other temps. We had the shades closed and everything, the high temperature outside barely reached 70. Our thermostat consistently remained above 75. We slept without blankets because we were sweating. I couldn't dry my hair after a shower because it was so hot. Additionally, we were without hot water for 5 hours on Wednesday. We couldn't shower or wash our hands unless we wanted ice cold water. No communication either! My mom came to visit for a few days and ended up calling the front desk to let them know we didn't have hot water. If she never called, we wouldn't have known anything! All they said was "well nobody has hot water right now" ?????? Yeah, because that makes it okay! The employees were also less than satisfactory - The employee on nightshift the beginning of the week was visibly bothered anytime we went downstairs, and even when we checked in. It seemed he was annoyed that he couldn't sit and watch tv! Given all of this, upon checkout, all I got was a "so sorry about that". $750 for the WORST hotel experience. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else. read more

This is the worst Marriott hotel I have ever stayed at. I'm a gold awards member and stayed at hundreds of Marriott properties. First the hotel is scheduled for renovations but it should still be taken care of. Front desk made you feel like you were bothering them when you asked them for anything even just checking in. The key lock on the door was broke had to get a new key 5 different times. No extra bedding for the rollouts. No extra towels. Remote did not work for the tv. The radio charger was broke. The worst thing is the rooms were dirty. This is no way a Marriott should be ran!! read more

We've stayed at this hotel twice now. The first time in Dec 2020 was reasonable based off price so we booked it again in Feb 2021. Never again! We checked in and the staff failed to tell us the AC wasn't working. They checked us in, let us go to the room, and hour after I cranked down the AC to 60 and called about it being hot, they told us to give it another 20 minutes. It was midnight so we slept hot not wanting to wait any longer. The next morning when we mentioned it not working, the clerk said it had been out in the building due to recent storms and they hoped to get it fixed that day. Over all our stay here was wonderful. It just had two little quirks 1. Casual staff - yes, they were friendly. But their casual attitude led to slow service (particularly when it came to towels - both on the room and at the pool. 2. The breakfast buffet had vegetarian sausage, but no meat offered. I thought that was bizarre... But otherwise it was great! Our room was clean and comfortable. We splurged and got a King with a jacuzzi. The first part of the room is the living space with a couch, desk and kitchenette (microwave, mini fridge, sink and coffee maker). Then there's a partial wall to separate from the bedroom (which has the jacuzzi and the full bathroom as well as a small closet). The indoor pool was actually warm enough, which was awesome! Based on the layout and change in flooring we could tell that there used to be a hot tub in here. I peaked into the gym - definitely one of the smaller I've seen. No weights, weight machines or place for floor work. It simply had a treadmill or two and an elliptical. read more

I just concluded my first trip to Ohio and spent 4 nights at this SpringHill Suites. The location itself is close to many places you may want to go to - there is a parking lot next door with a Home Depot and a movie theater, and a little further down there are some fast-food restaurants (KFC, Taco Bell, Dunkin Donuts etc.) an ALDI, a beauty supply and a Fricker's. The Dayton Mall is nearby, also. Just a 15 minute drive away in Miamisburg next to the river, I found a couple of small breweries and the adorable Historic Plaza Theater to catch a movie. My first impression of my room upon arrival was that it didn't seem entirely clean, with finger smudges on just about every surface. The small tables, door handles, mirror, headboards and lamps all looked a little grimy, but it was truly nothing to ring housekeeping about. The carpet was also pretty bad. There was a particular spot on the carpet that I found out the hard way (in bare feet) was sticky. It was pretty gross. The bathroom area thankfully looked pretty clean aside from a couple of stray dark hairs on the shower curtain. Towels were well-stocked, and I appreciated the Paul Mitchell bath products because they are a dedicated cruelty-free brand. A body lotion in this dry, wintery weather would have been appreciated. The breakfast offerings were great in theory although not entirely well executed. The scrambled eggs were the star of the show in my opinion, and I skipped the meat options as I am a vegetarian but they looked decent, with a different option each day of bacon, turkey sausage and a sausage skillet with potatoes, onions and peppers. Two of the three mornings I pulled a bread item that was stale - one morning it was the bagel, the next it was an English muffin (hard as a rock!). The oatmeal bar features a sign boasting Nutella to top your cereal, but it wasn't even available. They did put out chocolate chips, though, as well as raisins, cranberries, walnuts, almonds, brown sugar, honey and agave syrup. Other options were apples or bananas, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, meat and cheese slices and an assortment of cut fruit. At the drink bar they had infused water, hot water for tea and hot chocolate, and their coffee was surprisingly decent! The staff were all quite friendly. When I lost one of my key cards and somehow deactivated another, they were happy to help. If you needed a recommendation of somewhere to go or something to do, someone at the desk would surely be able to point you in the right direction. Overall, I had a decent stay and wouldn't be opposed to staying here again, but next time I would definitely bring some disinfecting wipes to swipe over all of the surfaces and make everything feel a little cleaner. Hopefully I won't have to go back to Dayton anytime soon, though! read more

Stayed here in Spring 2007 when the hotel had just opened. Although we had a little trouble finding it from the interstate (most likely because it was too new to be found on mapquest), it is a great place to stay...convenient to shopping and restaurants. It's beautifully furnished with modern, brightly colored upholstered furniture. I like having a separate seating area, along with the fridge, sink and bar type area. The hotel also provides free breakfast and parking; and there's a heated indoor pool and exercise facility. Definitely recommend this hotel! read more

Stopped for the night while traveling and although the room was comfortable, it was a bit dated and in need of maintenance. The bathroom had peeling paint, the grout on the tile floor was dirty and there was a picture on the wall that had two dead centipedes under the glass. Not a very welcoming impression. Also, we were told at check in that to-go breakfast would be available but that was not the case. There was a coffee pot but it was empty. This hotel is at the low end of the Marriott scale and would have fewer stars if it were not for the price point. read more

we stayed here on a big trip with many stops along the way. this was our first stop and it was the best! the beds were great! the room was spacious and the bathroom was clean. The front desk staff were very, very nice! I did however, lose 2 rings that I called about the next day. surprisingly the maid "didn't come across them." I called again about it and a double charge and the guy on the phone was very, very nice and helpful and apologetic. we would definitely stay here again! good breakfast too! eggs and bacon plus the other standard offerings. highly recommend!! read more

This is my 2nd Thanksgiving weekend at this hotel, and this year we have three rooms instead of two because one of my siblings was jealous that he didn't get to stay here last year. Staying with the family is great, but having your own TV, thermostat and peace and quiet is even better (not to mention your own bathroom). The rooms are impeccable, the staff is super friendly and helpful, free breakfast, free wi-fi, free parking, living area and bedroom area. Not is ritzy, but the place is tastefully decorated and much above average in finishings and decor. Breakfast had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, an assortment of cereals, breads, bagels, coffee, tea and homemade Belgian waffles. There also is a small sundry store where you can buy beer, wine,soft drinks, snacks, novelties and such. I'm normally a business traveler, but this is vacation. I would stay here for either occasion. For you biz travelers, the wi-fi never drops and I've only logged in one time, instead of every six hours or every time I shut off. I saw a small exercise room as well as hot tub and jacuzzi. I'll be back next year, and I have a feeling a few more siblings will follow my lead. Staying at mom and dad's place is fun... But keeping your own room temperature below 88 degrees is priceless!! I'm sure mom and dad are enjoying their breathing space as well, even if it is at 88 degrees. read more

Tried this hotel several years later, as price point was very favorable. Experience was radically different in positive way. The front desk offered a warm welcome, my room was ready and keys held at front desk, preferences were honored. Stayed on the fourth floor, which eliminated noises from above. Main reason I didn't give this place the 5th star, I had a hard time sleeping. Room was too warm, I couldn't figure out how to cool down room. It's 3 degrees outside, so I guess I should appreciate the warmth of the room. When staying in the area, I will begin utilizing this option regularly again. read more

There are lots of hotels in this upper midrange category (ie Holiday Inn Express). I would put this hotel, based mostly on our room, just below average. The sink looked gross. The decor were old and dingy. The only redeeming quality is the bed. TV is pretty good. Water pressure and temperature is good as well. This had the feel of a new Springhill Suites and I was extremely happy with the size of the rooms and cleanliness. The staff was very nice and even mentioned to me how much pride they have in their hotel. You don't hear that often and was a nice thing to hear. It showed. The breakfast was below par but it's free so don't complain. The gym is also small and consists of only three cardio machines. No one was using the pool but the pics make it look bigger than it really is. I paid $109 for a night there and I feel like that was worth the value. read more

The hotel was very nice and was clean. I liked the decor and the room was a decent size. The issue that I had was THE POOL!!! It was NOTHING like what the picture showed on the website! I took my kids there for something fun to do for Spring Break because they just love to swim... there was a group of extra large people playing full contact football and took up the entire pool and trampled my daughters a few times. There was some serious inappropriate groping and grinding going on between a couple of girls, and to be quite honest, I am pretty sure they were related. So we left! No thanks! Enjoyable stay on our drive south. Breakfast was well put together with bacon as a meat option which I don't typically see from the SpringHill brand. Check-in there were some issues with explaining the award upgrade availability and rate options with the associate working at that time. He also asked me twice how old I was when I had to give him an ID to check-in (I'm 24 in case anyone cares). But Alexis and Mike both went out of their way to follow-up with management and make things right as fast as they could (albeit after check-out which did make me a little uncomfortable). If I'm ever in the need to go to Dayton again I'd go out of my way to stay here due to the prompt attention to my concerns. Thanks team! read more

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and service at this place. Booked last minute here for my friend's graduation and even though I arrived really early before check in time, they were able to get me in. The room is spacious with a separate lounge area and a sofa bed. Liked their workout room and its open 24hrs! Happy camper here! read more

BEWARE!! BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but this Hotel and it's management deserves it. I booked and paid for a 1 Bedroom King Bed Suite 6 weeks ago as we are traveling with a 6 month old and need the extra space in the room to put a pack in play up for him to sleep in. After traveling for 9 hours we arrive at the hotel and start to unload our luggage. We paid to stay there for 3 nights and when we went to check in, the gentleman behind the counter told us they "over sold" the hotel and gave our room to someone else! What? I already booked and paid for the room 6 weeks ago? I even received an email saying that reservation was guaranteed! His excuse was a softball team was staying there and needed the room. His only solution was to put us in a room with two double beds. This doesn't work for us, that's why we booked a king bed! There is not enough room to put up a pack in play in a double bed room. The guy behind counter really didn't care about giving our room away and did NOTHING to help us. We spent the next 30-60 minutes looking for a last minute hotel close by and dealing with hotels.com trying to get a refund and finding a new hotel. Needless to say, we will never stay at a SpringHill Suites by Marriott again! STAY AWAY OR THEY WILL GIVE YOUR ROOM AWAY TOO! read more
