This is my first time stopping by this library and it has instantly become a new favorite study…read morespot for sure. As soon as you step into the library, there is a cute little coffee shop called Post Coffee. It is modern, has lots of seating, and is playing soothing music in the background. The library is also super modern, with LOTS of seating options. There are so many different chairs and tables to pick from so each person can find their perfect fit. There are also charging outlets everywhere which is something I look for when i'm studying. There is a small "cubical" space where there are little dividers between each area so you can focus on your own work without getting distracted from the person next to you. There is also a computer area, study rooms, and an open area. Lastly, there is lots of parking so you don't have to park on street or far away!

The Midwest Genealogy Center is a gem for those interested in their family histories. I can spend…read morehours at a time and not know where the time went. The library has an outstanding collection of genealogical resources and through a partnership with the Family History Library in Salt Lake, the resources available are nearly endless. You also have access to electronic resources through Ancestry Library Edition while you are on-site. What I like best is the layout of the library. It has a very open feel, complimented by high windows that allow a lot of sunlight to come in. There are many different working configurations...desks, tables, chairs and sofas. I find that this library is much more comfortable than most and I'll drive the 30 minutes to do my research here rather than working from a closer library. Not sure where to start? The Midwest Genealogy Center offers several classes for all levels of amateur genealogists. You can also arrange a consultation with a volunteer genealogist to help you overcome any research barriers. People might be hesitant to venture into this area, but this library is very nice, well maintained, and I wouldn't hesitate coming back for a lecture or to grab a book. The KC public library system as a whole is a great library system. Branches are all over the area and they are also part of the metro network. The large network allows a larger selection of books and helps keep costs low due to being able to borrow from different locations instead of trying to stock a larger selection. They also have many partners for audio books that are free to members. I love seeing a location here. An area that might be overlooked, but needs services like this. Get on the mailing list! The various branches have a great speaking series with many events KC centered.

Ah, my alma mater, and a treasure in Kansas City…read more Just like the school I got my Masters from, SLU, Rockhurst is quite definitely "in the hood." And, just like SLU, Rockhurst had the opportunity years ago to take part in the flight from the inner city and build a sprawling campus out in the burbs. Rockhurst, like SLU, did not give up on the city it was part of. You're going to find at Rockhurst a Jesuit education, which apart from a distinguishing element of service, focuses on building a whole person. We take philosophy and theology courses as part of the core not because we are trying to indoctrinate someone in religion, but to point out that life is more than marketing or biology. Rockhurst is the second-smallest Jesuit school in the country and certainly one of the more affordable. One of the drawbacks we have is that we do not have a good study-abroad program, but I came in as a junior transfer so I had already had that benefit at another school. I'm deeply grateful for my time spent at the Rock.

Rockhurst is an amazing university with many amazing qualities and individuals working there. The…read morecampus is beautiful and homey, it's very difficult to get lost and easy to find your classes. The professors are extremely passionate about their fields and very flexible to your own personal needs. There are many ways to get involved and an increasingly accepting environment for marginalized groups. This is the kind of place where people hold doors for others and everyone is very excited to be here and to get an education. Additionally, you do not have to be a Catholic to come here and there are a lot of individuals who are not. I would highly recommend attending this college and have had an amazing experience here!

It was full of unruly children spewing a stream of cuss words continously for the entire hour we were there before we had enough and had to leave. Although the lifeguard could fully hear every F***, b****, and other word, no one stopped to intervene to create a nice environment for others at the pool. Do not go to this pool unless you like not having a good time.
