A new issue arose for me in which a root canal over fifty years ago created slightly odd sensation that my regular dentist - Dr Barry Morse of the Ridge Dental in Montvale, NJ suggested might best be reviewed, imaged, diagnosed and treated by the eminently talented, equipped and capable Dr. Mi Sun Chun of Mid County Endodontic Group. With my previous experience, I was not averse to returning to her care. With a detailed scan rendering a three dimensional image, we saw my problem was a pea sized void in my jaw above the old root canal. Dr Chun advised it was an infection which seemed to be gaining the upper hand thus causing the change in sensation that I noticed. Dr Chun explained the procedure by which she would resolve my problem. This involved cutting my gum and peeling it away so she could drill directly into my jaw to clean out the infected and necrotic area, drop in something to boost restorative bone regrowth, stitch my gum back in place and send me home for a week after which she would remove the stitches while checking my overall recovery. This technique is more direct and prevents damage to an old dental repair that served well for half a century by not drilling back through the root canal risking the integrity of the crown. I demanded pain medication because this sounded deep and horrendous, to be frank. I was extremely disappointed that I walked out of the office after the procedure with nothing but some high strength Motrin & Tylenol and a prescription for a whopping four Tramadol which I viewed as woefully insufficient for what I faced recovering from this deep wound and bone drilling/grinding/scrubbing/cleaning. As it turned out, Dr Chun was correct. The biggest pain I had after the surgery was a slight discomfort where my lip had been folded out of the way during the procedure. I never even bothered taking the supplied Motrin or Tylenol. Finally, let me explain that I switched employers and so my dental insurance no longer covered Mid County Endodontic as IN NETWORK. The office put through the paperwork that same day so reimbursements were speedy if not for the overwhelming majority of the charges. There was never any question in my mind whom I would allow to perform this work on me. Choosing an In Network endodontist would have saved me a lot of money. I decided I am entitled to the best. Naturally, this means I stick with Dr Chun and Mid County Endodontic Group regardless of what insurance will or will not cover. I suggest you do the same. read more

Dr. Chen is a lifesaver! He is amazingly kind and skilled and had a gentle touch. If ever there was something as a pleasant root canal, this was it! In top of it all, this was an emergency where the tooth started bothering me over the weekend and the staff was extremely accommodating and got me in first thing Monday. It is my first visit at 12 noon 5/7/18 appointment to see Dr. Chen. Waited after 45 minutes, Dr. Hahn comes in, they change my appointed Dr. Chen instead. It is OK I think. I do not know any of them, it will make no difference, I think. Besides I have pain on my tooth, I need it fixed. After couple X-ray and a 360 degree circular machine (do not know the name and brand), I was let go around 1:15PM with a payment of $225.00. Without diagnostic information to tell me, Dr.Hahn said she will contact my previous Dr. S.Vulakh DDS (who did the bridge works on me) and will call me 2 weeks later. I got 2 weeks supply of anti-biotic pills to stop the pain. What a service. I will not wait for 2 weeks. That is the end. Albert Chao . read more

Not only was Dr Hahn a painless and efficient surgeon during the many root canals I have gone through with her, her kindness and caring was overwhelming. She was available for all my questions. I had my first root canal at this location more than 30 years ago. I was very apprehensive at first but there was no pain during the procedure at all. I recovered quickly and the outcome was a success. Ten years ago, I needed another root canal so naturally I called this practice. My doctor had since retired so Dr. Jin Hahn became my new favorite endodontist. This time, the procedure was an emergency and she fit me into her busy schedule. The results were equally impressive. As luck would have it, I needed another root canal last week. There was no way I was going anywhere else. I'm feeling so much better after the procedure and so thankful once again to Dr. Hahn. I am doctor in my early 30's who went for a routine visit to the dentist and found that I had a large asymptomatic abscess in my front upper tooth requiring me to get a root canal. Also by choosing Mid county Endodonics you have access to better equipment used to clean your tooth during the root canal and also get a dentist who is experienced in root canals thus having a lower failure rate.
