Do not prescribe me what you prescribe every single patient with the same monologue. Do the work to find natural products that work along side medicine. It's unfair already that hair loss is not covered by insurance. My hair fell out for 4 months like a chemo patient using feenasteride, spinorolactone, and minoxidil. It NEVER stopped shedding. Humans are not a one size fits all. I hope to find someone who actually knows my specific issues. I was also told that I have a rare condition where I'm allergic to water but...my reactions aren't THAT severe where a dermatologist should have even uttered that condition. I get a bit of a heat rash when working out or under hot water but that doesn't mean I'm "allergic." read more

I have been using this dermatologist for over 10 years. I had an appointment for a screening scheduled at 8 this morning. Late last week I was inundated with emails/texts requiring me to pre-register and the option to prepay my copay. However, when I checked in this morning, I was informed that my referral was expired and that I would have to reschedule. Why wasn't that a part of the pre-registration process? Now I have wasted the morning and have to try to reschedule for another stab at this. No concern from the office girl. Had I not shown for my scheduled appointment, I am sure that they would have charged me a "no show" fee. However, when they don't honor their scheduled appointment, I am simply told that I have to reschedule and no compensation for my wasted time. Unfortunately, it seems like this office has lost its customer service that had kept me coming back. read more

Very Unprofessional I had originally scheduled an appointment over the phone because I needed a refill on a prescription I have been taking for over 12 years. When I went to the office, I was told they could not prescribe that particular dosage because it could only be prescribed by a MD and the person I was scheduled with was a NP. The NP said the MD will need blood work (which I have never been asked to do for this) but in the hopes to get this quickly resolved, I did the blood work before my rescheduled appointment with the MD. The MD had me in the room a total of maybe two minutes, but I did clarify the exact dosage that I take and require, and Dr Gutierrez preferred to take the time to stress that he is not legally liable for any future birth defects that may be caused by medication. After feeling uncomfortable with this news and wanting more information, MD just reiterated we live in an adult world with adult decisions. At this point just wanted to be done and get my medication. I find out shortly after that they prescribed the lower dosage version of this medication, which was the ORIGINAL REASON I WENT AND DREW BLOOD. It's been over a week of no communication and leaving messages and voicemails. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere where they listen and care for their patients. read more

My 94 year old mother became scared about a large growth on her nose that was bleeding. Mid Florida scheduled her in on the next business day. The office was efficient, and my mother could not say enough praise for Kanisha, who completely explained everything, removed the entire growth, had it biopsied and personally called her to say it was benign. Mom had been going to another practice for years who did none of these things for her. My sister, her husband and I all go to Mid Florida for years, and are extremely pleased. read more

First I have been a patient for about 9 years and have been very happy with the practice. That has now completely changed. I am a snowbird and also see a Dr. here. I had a biopsy just before I headed north. It turned out to be an early melanoma. I requested my records sent to my Dr. here so he could do the surgery. That took a month of a lot of back and forth.. I finally get the records and the surgeon said the measurements didn't match up with what he saw. He then took 2 more biopsies and they were negative so we still can't find the melanoma. Now I can't reach anyone to get more information. I have made 20 calls and left numerous messages. I also left messages on the patient portal. No response. This has been going on for 2 months and I still have a melanoma. read more

She was rushing my appointment and I really felt that this woman thought she was better than me because that's how she made me feel. FIND ANOTHER DR!!! After waiting 3 weeks my first appointment was with a very friendly PA who decided that I had to see an MD. I took the first available appointment which was 5 weeks out. Several days before the appointment I received a text requesting me to confirm my appointment. The day before I received a phone call requiring me to confirm the appointment. I arrived 15 minutes ahead only to find their lights off and the door locked. As I walked away they opened the door and told me my appointment was canceled! I told them that I confirmed yesterday when I received a phone call. She said that it was an automated call. I asked why they didn't call me and she just shrugged her shoulders. I tried to get another appointment but was told to wait another month. Not worth my time read more

I have been going to Dr. G for over 15 years. Originally he was very helpful. I am a red head with freckles and he took time to give me a full exam. He actually looked in my scalp and examined me from head to toe. He spent time and asked questions as well as listening to me. I felt like I was keeping up with my skin needs by seeing him on a regular basis. Over the past 5 years or so he has become a physician who no longer cares. He no longer cares about his patients nor his practice. Evidence by his actions. He calls your name and spends 2-4 minutes in the room. He may even keep one hand on the door so he can easily exit. I have started to go to a different location. His main concern is getting people in and out the door. I would not advise anyone to go to him. read more

Incompetent People And Place.. I went in person today to request a payment plan due to fact that I ended up with Ambulance Bill $639.85 Hospital Bill $122.81 and Emergency Physician $64.95. Due to incompetency staff. On top of that with their bill for $124.64. The billing department will not returned the calls. Doctor I saw was great. Office staff is absolutely terrible. This staff hounded me about a $37.00 balance due even though it was less than 30 days from the original date of service and they already had all my insurance info. I received 4 texts, 4 emails,1 letter, and 2 requests from staff to pay this bill. When questioned, they insisted it was MY job to correct this with their billing dept rather than simply pick up the phone and do it themselves. I finally called the billing dept only to be told that the bill had already been paid by my insurer 4 days earlier! Worse yet, I needed some stitches taken out today and waited 65 minutes beyond the time of my appointment. When I finally asked what the delay was, I was told they were running a little behind and suggested that I reschedule. At that moment there were no less than 3 medical employees standing around a desk out back looking at their phones. When I mentioned this, they told me that they work for different doctors even though it is all ONE medical practice! Be forewarned...this practice is second rate and treats patients with callous disregard. My suggestion for anyone considering this practice is to go elsewhere! read more

Terrible experience at this doctor's office. The blonde receptionist at the front desk was rude and unprofessional. She asked that my referral include insurance codes, which regular patients to do not have access to. She further told me to drive myself to their billing office for a referral form. I was puzzled by her request and asked if we could call the billing office. She proceeded to raise her voice, telling me this is my insurance and I should have been prepared with the proper forms before the appointment, but this is impossible since coded referrals are not available to me. This was done in front of other patients in the waiting area, other staff, and with my primary doctor's office on the line; it was shameful. She was giving me disingenuous and misleading information throughout the interaction, and nothing was resolved. I spent the entire duration of my appointment by the front desk, doing as she asked to no avail. I left and immediately called their Mid Florida Dermatology corporate office to get clarification and put in a formal complaint. It was in speaking to the ladies at the corporate office that I learned I was not required to have insurance codes in the referral and that their billing office was not open to the public, so it was a good thing I did not drive there. Most terrible and surprising, was the fact the receptionist marked my appointment as if I saw the specialist/doctor. At that point, it went from a formal complaint to investigation. I was afraid of getting an unexpected bill. Thankfully I was not alone during the incident; my primary care office stayed on the phone with me and overheard the entire exchange. They were also in disbelief, and I felt reassured being that their phone calls are recorded. I ended up missing my appointment and spent 2 hours making reports to both the head office and my health insurance company. The ladies at the corporate office were kind and helpful, and my insurance noted the complaint and helped me find a better rated dermatologist. I will be calling back to make sure I am not billed for a medical service that was never provided. I am disgusted by the lack of professionalism displayed at this doctor's office. Without having met the doctors, I cannot speak to the quality of service they provide, yet I cannot in good conscience recommend this place. It was a terrible experience. read more

Unsatisfactory experience unfortunately. I saw a nurse who didn't even look at the skin issue with sufficient lighting. Then they charged me a $120 co-pay (after the appointment was over) and then filed a claim with Cigna for another $134. They lied to Cigna and said I hadn't paid a co-pay. Insane. read more

Where to begin. It's a windmill so be prepared to wait for over an hour for your appointment. They circled a "mole" on my wife's back and said they had to biopsy it. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. David Plank was so unprofessional and rude towards me. He was in the room all of five minutes and he said he was sending me to get an ultrasound, which was very misleading because when I scheduled this appointment, I was told I was having surgery on my leg. I did not have surgery, instead I was met with attitude and unprofessionalism. I have NEVER cried after a doctors appointment, I had a panic attack after this appointment. I did get the ultrasound and now the office refuses to see me. If you love yourself or family members, take them elsewhere. You will be made to feel like you're crazy. Dr Plank literally said, "I'm not doing surgery on you until we figure out what is wrong with you." Who says that to a patient? I am seen by Nurse Practitioner Sara Nartatez who is amazing. Sara takes the time to explain what she's doing, points out things that she thinks we should take a look at and monitor and explains each step of the exam. I can barely put one star on this. This is why I don't like going to these group doctors but felt like I didn't have a choice. I needed to see a dermatologist because of skin damage done by Shingles a few years earlier. I made the appointment over the phone and was told I needed to go online and download all the forms to fill out before I got there. I did and made my appointment with a few minutes to spare. I was shocked when they called me in just a few minutes. The nurse took me to a room with the exam table up-right like in the pictures show. but the paper was just thrown over the table, not neatly tucked in or under the strap. The doctor came in a few minutes later barely got out his hello when he said I had something that I couldn't pronounce. I informed him that I had shingles a few years before but no one said anything about anything else. He spent another minute questioning me as to whether I was sure I had shingles. told him I went to 3 doctors during that time and not one mentioned anything other than shingles. then he started to walk out. I told him I was also there for other things such as a mole on my back. I showed him a mole and 2 warts to which he referred as "age spots" grabbed a can a Freon and proceeded to freeze each. and gave me a Rx for an antibiotic and told me to come back in a month. He gave no instructions on how to treat the "age spots" since he had now frozen them and proceed to instruct his assistant to take a biopsy, told me the name of a plastic surgeon who could laser my scars then he left and I never saw him again. His assistant took the biopsy, and asked what pharmacy she could sent my Rx to. Perhaps it is a result of the way I was raised that leads me to believe that people are to be treated like more than a commodity, especially in the medical field. However, that is exactly the way I felt. I need to find a private practice dermatologist, Once the results of the biopsy are returned, I'm going to find another dermatologist to follow up with. read more

My husband had a procedure setup for today at 12:30 with Dr. David Plank, the clinic sent a message yesterday to confirm and also called, we got there 10 minutes before the appointment time, the front desk lady said to us to sit and wait to be called, 15 minutes later I asked her how long it will take to see the doctor, she told us the doctor wasn't there and he will be there in 40 minutes, and we will probably have to wait for more time for him to setup everything. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE!!! Why nobody gave any explanation to us? What is the purpose to do that with people? Why she didn't explained what was going on instead of just leaving us there like a trash? My husband takes a thinning blood medication daily and had to stop it for 3 days to have the surgery. We had to cancel the appointment because my husband had to go back to work. The doctors need to stop to act like gods, they need to learn that they are not better than us, they need to respect the patient. read more

This place is a disgrace, just so typical of the cynical, money-hungry, unprofessional conveyor belt form of medicine that's become so prevalent in Florida these days, with patients as the meat in the sandwich between greedy medical practices and health insurers doing their utmost to minimize their exposure. First, they have a piece of paper stuck to the door asking people to wait outside until someone comes to the door - but no one in reception to notice - I ended up having to go in to get someone's attention, only to be given a hard time for 'ignoring' the sign. Then I'm given a pile of paperwork to fill out, only to go through half the questions again when I'm led into one of the rooms for the consultation. Of course, part of the paperwork involves signing off on the fact that you'll only get to see a nurse, not a doctor, because obviously when a practice is trying to make as much money as it can it keeps the doctor above the fray and churns and burns patients through nurses instead, unless it's serious - in which case, given they don't actually have a doctor at all on the premises, they'll reschedule you or send you elsewhere. But here's the kicker. When I finally got around to showing them the problem I came in with - a growth in my underarm that's like a skin tag gone wild - the nurse turns around and tells me they don't have any nitrogen on hand to freeze it off - "but we will have some next week if you'd care to come back then!" A dermatologist without nitrogen is like a surgeon without a scalpel - it's such a stock in trade item for much of the work they do that it beggars belief that they wouldn't have any on hand. Why waste the time of patients by getting them to come in when in all likelihood they won't be able to receive treatment? Oh, maybe because this place is too cynical and greedy to turn business away, particularly if they did the right thing and notified patients, with the risk that they would then lose them to another practice. Of course if I hadn't shown up for the appointment they'd have billed me for the consultation anyway, but wasting over an hour of my time is perfectly fine - any way I can bill them $200 for it? Twenty one years of living in this country, and I could count on one hand the times I've dealt with a medical practitioner or specialist who actually came across as a professional carer, rather than the majority who come across as cold-blooded cynics who've fallen into the profession for no other reason than to see how much they can work the system for. No prizes for guessing which category this practice falls into. read more

Stay away from Dr. Plank. I have a pretty face or perhaps I should say I had. A bit over a year ago, Dr. Plank did some minor fillers on my cheekbones (Voluma,1 syringe) and under my eyes (Volbella,1 syringe), and I liked it very much. Little that I knew, with him it was just pure luck. This time, now a year later, I flew in from a different state where I live now, to see him for the same treatment again, and he made me look like a monster. Everyone who knows me and sees my face now wants to know 'what happened' to me. I look sick, my naturally heart shaped face is now square like a box, my eye sockets now appear deep, I now have black discoloration under them that does not go away even 4.5 months later. I tried to send him pictures of his 'creation' but he was not interested in seeing them. Note that his website does not contain an email address. I then tried to dispute this visit with my credit card, and he sent them a statement that allegedly, I wanted to look like that, like a monster. Now, 4.5 months later, I still cry, when I see what he did to my face in the mirror every morning. I have been hiding from my friends and everyone else bc I am ashamed to show what I look like after my glorious $1700 (+$400 plane ticket) visit to Dr. Plank's office in August 2020. I finally had enough. Dr Gutierrez treats patients like cattle get them in get them out get the insurance company billed. I have had melanoma. I get a complete check every six months or so. Never has this doctor spent more than 2 minutes with me. I never feel like I get a full exam. I just get the amount of biopsies insurance will cover and it's done by assistant. On one occasion he totally misdiagnosed me about red blotches on my face and chest. I got second opinion and was bed bug bites from a high end hotel in Miami. Now I go to a doctor that gives time and checks scalp and feet in addition to rest of body. I will say the other staff members were always nice. read more

I feel like I have to hassle any and everyone just to make process with anything. They say they will give a call by the end of day, a week later and yet again, I HAVE TO CALL because no one reached out. I was told things were submitted to my insurance. I called and of course nothing submitted. Everything they say never happens which means I have to call and be rude. I was excited to finally be making progress with having a procedure done yet most days I want to cry because I feel like it's become a hassle. My initial appointment was December. It's May and I am still in the same predicament. There's so much more I can say. Bianca has been the only helpful person there. I'm not sure if I can even name the doctor I saw because he examined me for less than 30 seconds, left, but not before calling me "hun." The PA who did my biopsies was indeed kind, but when she did the one on my nose, it was terrible. The front staff is highly incompetent and rude. I had to ask if they wanted me to pay. I asked several times for some printed instructions and was told I did not need the printout because I was verbally told, unless I did not understand basic 'wound care.' They will answer the phone, put you on hold, and then, hang up on you and then take the phone off the hook so they don't have to deal with incoming calls. I watched this happen on my first visit, and today I experienced this. If you have a serious skin disease, please find someone else...it's your life! read more

Finally got to see doctor who asked us why we were there even after initial visit was for biopsy. So after they found labs which indicicated a basal cell carcinoma they sent us to Dr Plank in Altamonte Springs office. After surgery there my husband was released with much bleeding even though everyone knew he was on plavix. Once home we called the main number and were told to go to Hospital Er where the doctor redressed the wound with proper surgical packing. Finally several days after surgery we got a call from nurse telling us we should have come back to New Smyrna office! We live in Orlando. These people are clueless and should be avoided. read more

She was extremely helpful in getting my appointment squared away after trying to work with the appointment staff for WEEKS and getting the runaround. I had made it clear on my first phone call that my procedure needed pre-authorization and NO ONE listened. It literally took three weeks of phone tag and back and forth to get anywhere. 20 minutes before my appointment it was still not resolved. It's impossible to get anyone on the phone when you need them. After the initial frustrations, I thought my second time coming back would go a bit more smooth because my pre-authorization had been granted thru the end of the year. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Whomever hired their appointment setter, must be completely unaware of her attitude issue. This girl is rude, unhelpful and should NOT be representing this practice over the phone. It's like pulling teeth talking with her - she makes you feel like you've interrupted her life by calling for one. I found myself asking ALL of the questions and had to ask her if she needed to know what the appointment was for. I mean, is she still in high school? It's completely bizarre to me that a practice this large wouldn't care about the way their staff is representing them in first impressions; poorly. I thought about moving my family's care to this practice to consolidate - but I don't think that will be the case. read more

Dr. Gutierrez was recommended to me by a number of co-workers as well as my chiropractor so I thought I was going to get a really great doctor. I was very disappointed by this office and Dr. Gutierrez. I made my first visit to get a full body check up and ask him about some scaring on my arms. Since I was a new patient, I had to wait a number of weeks to get into his office and then they only see new patients mon and tues between the hours of 8 and 9 am. Thats it... if you cant come at those times, then you can't be a new patient. I took time off from work to come see him. For the total of 30 min I was in the office, I saw him for about 2 min. I was questioned by his nurse and then examined by his two Physician Assistants. When he finally came into the room, he said hello but never examined me...he just asked his assistants what my condition was, he concurred with them... asked me if I had any questions and then left the room. That was it? I waited all this time to see him and he rushed in and then rushed out? Now the only reason i came to him was because my regular dermatologist does not take my medical insurance so I had to find someone who did. My regular guy would come in, do a complete exam himself, consult with me his findings and then have his nurses do biopsies but I would get to spend 15 min or so with him and he was truly concerned about my health. Dr. Gutierrez never gave me this feeling. It was like he was seeing as many patients as he could in the amount of time he is there. I left the office feeling confused why people had recommend him. I also realized that I had asked them about the scaring on my arms and never got an answer. I decided that maybe he was just having a bad morning and it would be better the next time... it was not. About 4 weeks later I had something flare up unexpectedly and got concerned about it. I called to make an appointment and the earliest I could see him was about a week later. This time I was given an afternoon appointment but again, I took time off of work to see him. A nurse came in, took my information and then left. A few min later, Dr. Gutierrez, the nurse and one of his PAs came into the room. He talked to the nurse who told him what I had told her and from across the room (never coming near me to actually look at my challenge) he looked at me, and told me what his diagnosis was. He told the nurse what he wanted to do... then turned to me and asked if I wanted a full body check up... I said no, I had just been to his office a few weeks earlier for that but I did have a question that was never answered on the first visit about my arms. I explained to him my challenge and again, from across the room, he told me what it was. I had never heard of it so I asked him what it was. It was at this point he sighed and repeated the answer. So I asked again if he could tell me what it was and what caused it... he gave me a look like "why are you questioning me" and a feeling like I was bothering him by asking him about my condition... he then started to quickly explain to me like I was a 5 year old what the condition was and how it happens. It was at this point I was done with this Dr. It was like I was bothering him and taking up all his time and that he had many other more important people to see. I am not even sure what he was telling me because I tuned him out. He then told his nurse to prescribe a cream for my arms and I asked him one more question about what I could do for my arms. It was then he said... "stay out of the sun... forever" What? We live in Florida... how do you stay out of the sun all the time? I was done. I got up and went over to the check out area to pay my bill. I was visibly upset by his horrible bedside manner and everyone was aware of it. I asked for me bill so I could leave and it was then he came over to me and waved me back into the office so he could speak to me. No thanks... I have had enough of his condescending attitude. While waiting to pay my bill, another patient checking out at the other window was complaining to the receptionist about the same treatment. She had come to the Dr. with her daughter to ask about something and she felt the same way I did... it was rushed, he was talking down to her, and her questions never got answered. It was not just me... he was treating other patients this way. The receptionist came back and said there would be no charge for todays visit and she apologized for the office. The other woman and I rode down in the elevator together and talked about our visits. She too had heard great things about him but was disappointed to the point she was going to write to someone about his behavior. We both felt he was rude and arrogant to both of us. I truly wish I could have given him a great review but after my two visits, I can't. I am sure he will continue to have a busy and fruitful practice but I can't recommend him. read more

I have to admit, I did not see Yelp until far too late in regards to Dr. Gutierrez. As far as I am concerned, I have told everyone I know that this man is rude and has no sense of any Doctor-Patient hospitality. I visited for cysts that run in my family associated with rash on my inner thighs. I had been told prior that this was no big deal, but for my peace of mind and due to it being incredibly PAINFUL, I needed to visit someone. Unfortunately it was him. To start off, his nurse was incredibly rude. I told this to both the front desk staff at the end of the appointment which lasted a total of 15 minutes. When I told the woman at the front desk that the nurse needed her morning coffee, because she clearly had a bad attitude this morning, she sighed and asked who my nurse was... she then got up to go find out, and came back sighing some more. Seemed to me this wasn't the first time she heard this. Now moving onto Dr. Gutierrez: he did nothing for me. All he told me was that I was a "big boy and my thighs rub together". After saying, "uhm... okay..." he then started to leave the room. I proceeded to tell him I had other concerns (such as a rash on my back), he told me my underwear was too tight. He continuously shrugged his shoulders dismissing me, and speaking to me as if I was 5 years old. When I told him I was also looking for a dermatologist to keep as a regular and get into the practice, he said: "why?" You're perfectly right sir. Why? Why would I choose you? Dr. Michael M. Gutierrez Be careful. This guy INSISTED that I needed 8 MOLES removed. (Remember, someone makes money for every mole removed.) I knew this was WAY too many moles to remove since I have a yearly checkup and only occasionally do I need something removed. He actually made me feel horrible when I said I was going to get a second opinion. "I am warning you that you could have skin cancer." He actually asked me to sign a document that I had refused his surgery. After two second opinions, I had one mole removed. I told another Orlando doctor about my experience.
