This morning my car had 3 flat tires, so not particularly happy today after being sent off yesterday thinking all was well. I called and spoke to Jeff and first he asked me if I could bring the car down. I said yes after I pumped up the tires. Then he said they couldn't do it today or tomorrow as they were fully booked. I understand this is a busy time, but then to be further told by him to go elsewhere when I trusted them to make sure they were leak free and good to drive on is extremely annoying. Why is it so hard to find a good tire shop in Nanaimo? Just heard from the new shop (not the one I am complaining about) that none of the tires were on the bead (I think that's the correct terminology) so had to be removed from the rims, the rims cleaned, and had to be reseated. I was prepared to pay for that yesterday but not today. I had told Jeff I had just purchased the rims and tires on Marketplace. He looked at the tires on my car and the ones on the "new to me" rims and advised me to keep the tires that came with the rims, which according to the shop I went to to fix the bad bead issue were from 2012. I can only assume this was to spare the time to remount them on the new to me rims. Did he not know that yesterday? And how, in good conscience, could you send me off with those tires which the new shop showed me were cracked and old? At least now I will have new tires too. You lost a sale on that too, Kal Tire. Thanks for doing a horrible job and possibly putting my life at risk. If I'd gone on the highway like this, I shudder to think what might have happened.

Ron got me in for my brakes that needed hours within me calling about it , I normally would have to arrange a ride home and wait a full day if not multiple days for basic things like coolant flush and oil changes at laird Wheaton , at Mid island automotive I was in and out so quickly I just sat in the lobby and chatted with Cammy the lovely woman that works at the front desk and was treated to coffee and a Christmas chocolate while the men worked their magic , I was shocked at how quickly the service was . The price was very reasonable and I left there happy and not feeling ripped off like every other place I've been in Nanaimo , they topped off my fluids as well . Ron and his team were extremely accommodating, kind , informative and knowledgeable. Mar 9, 2026 I have…read morejust purchased and had installed a set of Nokian One 100H tires (215/70/R16) for my Honda CR-V (FWD only). I had asked for a recommendation for tires that would provide a softer more comfortable ride than my existing Nokian all weather set and be very good in the rain. I found the existing ride to be very harsh, especially going over depressed manhole covers and typical Nanaimo road patches. I had some slim hope better tires might produce enough improvement to at least notice so as to justify my somewhat earlier than needed purchase. I would like to say how pleased I am at the resulting improvement. The new Nokians were even smoother on smooth pavement and over my "favourite" set of 3 sequential road patches on Jinglepot the car produced just a muted bump instead of the harsh bone shaking bang from the old all weathers. I haven't had the opportunity to test the new ones in the rain yet (soon will I think) but I can say even on dry pavement I've noticed improved traction. Thanks to all the staff who helped with the recommendation, scheduled the appointment, and did all the install work. Once again Kal Tire 682 (6590 Island Hwy N) has come through for me. Recently we took a road trip from our home in eastern Washington to Tofino . We had no idea our…read moreFord Fusion would leave us hanging on the side of the road. We asked the tow truck driver to take us to the nearest Ford dealer which turned out to be a big mistake. After improperly diagnosing our issue, we were asked to pay almost double what was quoted. We felt that we were taken advantage of as we were obviously tourists (or they didn't like us being US citizens.) While we were waiting for our repair, we came across a deli inside the service department. We noticed the lady behind the counter appeared to have no culinary skills as she was using the same knife and cutting board for raw meat and vegetable garnish. Surely Canada has food preparation guidelines? The lunch lady (her name turned out to be Nora) became very rude and abrasive and tried to ensure us that she is properly trained and uses proper sanitary technique. Her food preparation area was filthy and definitely told us otherwise. Instead of risking our health, we took a cab to a cute little mall down the street where they had a food court. We are so thankful that Wendle Ford in Spokane doesn't take advantage of us. BTW, Tofino was amazing! Despite our setback in Nanaimo, Canada has a beautiful coastline that made our trip worth it.
