My RC addiction brought me here... well when I realized one of my trucks was busted. My brother-in-law also ended up needing parts, so off we went. They have a pretty good selection of rc cars, parts, and planes. Looks like they service cars, so if you don't like working on your own they'll do it. They had a few used cars for sale, and I thought that was pretty cool. They have a massive train selection. More stuff than any other hobby store I've been to. If you're in Memphis, and you need model train stuff, this is your spot. This place also had Funko products, models, comic book, paint, and a variety of many other different items. Prices seemed pretty good, and definitely the selection to look through. Interesting place that caters to the inner nerd. read more

This definitely IS THE BEST hobby shop for many, many miles around. Others come and go. This one stays. I much like their staff's product knowledge and technical expertise. What one doesn't know, another can fill in. Nice, helpful people, in my experience. The product selection is extensive. But...(There's always got to be a "but," doesn't there?)...the shelves are scruffy, spottily stocked, and not as clean or tidy as one might wish. They seems not to discriminate between new and used, recent or old stock. Result: There's some real junk amid the good stuff, takling u,p space that could be used for better purposes. My advice: Have a giant parking lot sale, shed the fifth-rate material, and sharply upgrade your stock. I'd much rather buy model railroad building kits and supplies from you than from eBay, but I'm not likely to do that till you get some better items in. I do wish you'd consider adding philatelic (stamp collecting) supplies to your inventory. No one else in town carries any meaningful kind or quantity in this field. (Hobby Lobby doesn't cut it. Ditto Michael's.) That said, I think Mid-South Hobbies is a GREAT store, and I do love to shop there. read more

If it was possible to give negative stars, I would! I ordered a metal sign online over a month ago. Never received the sign. I followed up with multiple emails and voicemails, only to receive no response and no sign! Unfortunately, going to have to file a claim with the BBB. Save your time and money! Great prices and variety of items but holy hell is this place a filthy wreck otherwise. There appears to be at least five people working on the weekend but the bathroom is straight out of a third world country, and the rest of the store is constantly trashed with paths through things on the floor. I mentioned to the man at the register that they needed to address their bathroom and he turned to the only woman working in the store and told me to tell her because apparently a sanitary environment is only a woman's concern and a woman's problem to fix...and of course no apology for having a bathroom that all adults should know damn well is a health hazard. I'll update my review if I don't think a hazmat suit is necessary the next time I visit. read more

This hobby shop definitely has a large selection for RC, scale model, and railroad. Prices are very reasonable, only drawback is customer service isn't the greatest, then again most retail stores have that problem. I would definitely recommend this place read more

I was visiting the area not long ago and went there just to take a look. I thought the old-school "one of everything" type of hobby shop was extinct. This place had a little of everything. I found a lot of long-sold-out items and shelves packed with a little of everything. Plenty of new stuff, too. I didn't get ignored like many other hobby shops do when you walk in and have a question. Good staff, really good selection. As an avid fan of board gaming, it is nice to see an active board game shop in the area. They have a fairly strong collection of board games, miniatures, cards, models, comics, and other collectibles. The price point is fair for what they are selling, but the layout is a bit sloppy. The main draw for me though is that they host multiple events on a weekly basis to accommodate to a variety of gamers. This provides an environment whey gamers can come together to try new games, bring games that you may not have an opportunity to play otherwise, develop strategies, and simply have an awesome time. For the purpose i come here, it's pretty solid. Overall, if you are a board gamer or are into gaming or collectables, I'd recommend this place. read more

The store supports a large variety of hobbies, a diversification that should ensure their longevity in a market where being too specialized can result in a short life span. While this place is a bit jumbled and not overly organized, the massive stock makes up for that ten fold. Our 11 year old train aficionado spent hours poring over the shelves upon shelves of train cars, tracks, and landscaping items before choosing a starter kit recommended by the owner after a long conversation discussing size and engine merits. He also ended up with his favorite oil tanker car, two extra sets of tracks and many many stories of elaborate model train worlds. read more

By this place being the only hobby shop in the area you would expect great customer service right? ...wrong..very disappointed in this place..really wish Nitro RC was still around..This past weekend I stopped by this shop to pick up some 6s batteries for my trucks.. Went into the store walked to the rc sales counter no one came to assist us. There were two people working in the department one guy in the back area and one guy was just staring at the computer trying his best to ignore me and my wife. We made eye contact with the guy at the PC and he looked away. We were standing there looking at the battery tray for about 6min until I asked the guy Hey! Could you help me with your battery selection.. he rolled his eyes and said " yea what" I told the guy what I was looking for 2x 5000mah 6s batteries. He proceeded to pick up and toss the wrong batteries on the counter like he was annoyed with my presence. So when I told him these are not the right batteries and not what I was looking for he seemed to get annoyed at this point that's when I told the guy..you know what nevermind you can keep it and we walked out. idk if he couldn't read or what but the customer service is hot trash in this place I would not recommend this place to any black hobbyist in the RC hobby..find a rc group on FB for help and when making purchases just pay the extra bucks and buy your supplies online cause this place obviously doesnt need your service...now keep in mind the shop wasnt really busy meaning there were no customers in the RC area as it was mid afternoon when I stopped by. I've been in the hobby for about 12 years and this was a very disappointing experience the guy at the counter seemed to not have much knowledge of the hobby. I should rate them minus 5 stars as I have no money left. Lol No but seriously they are a great place to go to for just hanging out, answering questions, getting your stuff fixed, and buying your next new to you toy. In all honesty I feel like when they work on my stuff which I break weekly I still owe them more than they charge as they are all about service and helping you out. Every time I go there I find a 100 different new to me things I didn't see the last time I was there. I wish I owned a house so I could buy more stuff. read more
