The initial contact when reviewing needs of the home definitely took forever; I had planed ahead with questions i was prepared to ask so they would know i had done my research prior to their arrival. I tried to be very clear with everything between the price expected to pay, the equipment used (including the brands), etc to ensure there would be no surprises. The salesman and I agreed to a triple sump pump, dehumidifier and waterproofing the walls. I specifically asked if the dehumidifier was an April Air (whole house) dehumidifier and the salesman confirmed. He also told me there would be a lifetime warranty on the system which would extend out to the next homeowner and I could expect annual maintenance to ensure the system continues working smooth. The workers began installing the systems and the dehumidifier was not only the brand the salesman and I had discussed but it was not set up as a whole house system. I mentioned this to the workers and they said they would reach out to someone and have them call me. Never happened; in fact when I reached out on my own behalf I was told the information given to me was inaccurate. Two years later my system starts to go off so i reached out to the company whom said they could help but they would have to charge me since it would be considered part of their maintenance. I questioned why no one had reached out to set up annual service maintenance the year prior and why the salesman let me to believe the maintenance was part of the warranty and service done. I paid over 20k and don't see why the annual maintenance check ins couldn't be free. I did complain about my salesman and expressed my disappointment in what he led me to believe I was getting myself into but the apology i received felt more like a "too bad so sad" response. If you are looking into getting waterproofing done, I would reach out to multiple companies in your area and consider choosing someone else. read more

Called them up and Wes was super nice, sales man, seemed like a good company until they came out and I saw their work. 6 out of the 12 basement supports that were put in were done horribly. Nothing was straight and it looked like they rushed through the job. Stripped screws, 1/4" gaps in the rafter support boards and missing screws. They came out and fixed it but it should have been done right the 1st time. Very disappointed in the workmanship and the price. Would not recommend them. Was told they were going to go out from the inside of my basement floor with longer supports and they went ahead and drilled where my tile line ran inside my basement. read more

We hired MidAmerica Basement Systems to install a triple safe sump pump in our basement and are very pleased! They came when expected, were courteous & professional, listened to us, explained their plans, worked efficiently, and completed almost the whole project in one day. They even hauled the dirt out and away in buckets, leaving no mess whatsoever ever! They returned the next day to finish the project around my schedule and kept in touch by phone when they were running a bit late. The project looks wonderful and professionally done. When we had a minor problem with it over the weekend after it was installed due to high winds affecting the outside part in a way that hadn't been anticipated, and they were right back Monday morning fixing it. Super pleased with their work and how the foreman explained everything, listened to us, and troubleshooted the problem till it was fixed right. Would definitely hire them again. Back in Novermber we were looking for someone to come install an egress window in our basement. After talking to several companies, we decided to go with MidAmerica because, well, their product simply seemed to be better than most, even if it was a bit more expensive. We were told that we had to wait until the end of April, almost six months later, to have the job done, because "the ground [was] too cold", we were told. Just about a month before the job was supposed to be done, I contacted them with some questions regarding my preparing for their arrival. I just wanted to check a few facts to make sure I was ready for them. They told me they were coming out the following Monday. Obviously, I was stunned by the notion and I asked them to double-check their dates. After speaking to several people about the situation, it turns out that whomever was supposed to set the date for the job failed to do so and thus they took it upon themselves to decide when they were supposed to do the job. Had it been any other week, I might have even gone for it, but it so happens that it was really, really bad timing, and I explained it to them. They told me they could come and do the job in August, and that's when I told them that that was unacceptable. Not only, in the end, did no one ever apologize about the situation in any meaningful way or take responsibility for the mess up, but I was also being given the runaround to get our deposit back. Perhaps we got lucky and we didn't have to go to court to get our deposit back but maybe it is them who got lucky and, in the end, just got a bad review on Yelp. read more

Second opinions said proposed remediation of foundation settling was overly aggressive and not necessary. Company will not respond to my requests for return of deposit. I hired MidAmerica to install a sump pump, dewatering system and wall anchors last year. Sales person and workers were great, however, scheduling was awful, constant rescheduling....each letter saying May 5th date needs rescheduled.....even when we were out to August before the entire work was completed. I did appreciate the friendliness of the workers....even changed a light bulb in my stairwell that I was unable to reach. The workers told me that they had scheduling issues due to some changes is staff. Now I am wondering about having them come and look and see why I have been continuing to get very small amounts of water this spring in my basement. It has been a very rainy spring, but shouldn't the problem have been eliminated? Is it really going to cost me to have someone look at my system? I would love to be able to give this company a 5 star review, but at this point I feel unable to do that. read more

Our house was built in 1866 and had some foundation work done to it by previous owners. Some of it wasn't done very well and as a result, we needed to add support. After interviewing 4 different companies we chose Mid America. They were very responsive and knowledgeable and our crew of Greg and TJ were fantastic. We have had mid america do work for us 2 times ! The first was a sump pump system ,we bought their triple safe system ! Their work was done in 1 day and my basement has not had water in it sense! The second time we bought their power brace foundation wall reenforcement system ! I have a 1929 home that had a failing old water control system in the basement. Two months ago, I paid this company to install a new system in the problem area as well as a new sump pump system ($3200). Work was excellent; however, subsequent customer service was non-existent. Recently flushed system with a water hose and noted that the sump pump did not activate - filled with water. I called today and asked if someone could come check it out. Was told that they could send someone out, but there would be a $65 service fee if the matter was not deemed to be under warranty. Brand new system, sold and installed by them. They couldn't just send someone by to check it out without a "service fee"??? Pathetic. read more

The gentlemen who came to actually put in the window did a nice job of keeping our lawn and neighbor's Lawn from being damaged with their truck. Everything seemed fine when they left after completing the job. Within 3 days we had 3 dead moles in the egressed window. I went out to take a look and there were huge gaps at the back of the window big enough for a squirrel to crawl through. The 4 clips they put on the flimsy cover would not hold the lid down. It needed more clips. I tried to get them to just come out and put the extra clips on and the lady in the office who said her name was Catalina said there would likely be a charge since they only allot 4 clips. Yesterday we woke up after a hard rain and there is at least 7 inches of soil that has eroded away from the front and the side of the window. Obviously the soil had not been packed down enough around the window, nor was enough soil left there in the first place. I sent a text to our salesman, Mac and asked if I could call him, no response. I have now sent him pictures to see if the company will take care of this. We will likely have someone install a proper cover and fill in the holes around the window and just forget about the company following through with customer satisfaction. We have had our window 2 months. I will never do business with this company again. Lesson learned! read more

We had high hopes when MidAmerica Basement Systems sent a rep to our home for an estimate to mudjack in July 2018. The sales rep they sent was respectful and had great customer service skills. He let us know it would be a while until they could do the work, and that they would contact us when they were available, which we were fine with. Then the problems began. We didn't hear from them again until November, when we got a call from a tech at 8am to ask if we would be home to complete the work later that day. We scrambled and were able to make it work that someone could be at the house. When the tech came to complete the work, he completely botched the job. The concrete was heaved, pieces were broken, he moved our deck and fence completely out of alignment to the point that the deck steps are now unlevel (slanted one direction) and the gate to the fence will not close. He shifted our retaining wall and destroyed hundreds of dollars in landscaping. A severe trip/safety hazard has now been created. When we talked to him about it, he made the statement that MidAmerica may just "step away" rather than repair the work. We conveyed that this was unacceptable and that we needed the botched job repaired, and attempted to call the company several times. Neither us, nor their tech, was able to reach anyone in the office (it was a Friday) so we had to wait the weekend. We did not receive a call back from the messages we left, and over the next 2 weeks we called their offices 5 separate times and were never able to speak to anyone but the receptionist. We were told we needed to talk to Howard, but Howard was conveniently out of the office every time we called and never bothered to return our call. They were clearly avoiding communicating with some unhappy customers. 3-weeks later we hear from the sales rep (via text message) that we should get a call from Howard later that day to schedule someone else to look at the damage and "see if it can be repaired." Howard never called. We messaged the rep again a few days later after not receiving a call from Howard, and he has a receptionist call us to schedule an estimate for repair. They tell us it will be another month. We say that's unacceptable, they have left us with a severe trip hazard for 3-weeks already. They agree to get someone to our house in the next 2-weeks. When the next tech comes 2-weeks later, he states the problem cannot be fixed and agrees with our assessment that it will have to be re-poured and replaced. Tells us we should get an estimate, they will get an estimate, and we can choose which estimate to go with and they cover the cost of the repair, and they will have the contractor reach us in the near future. We start to believe that perhaps they will fix their mistake after all. When we finally hear from the contractor a few days later, we are told that we have to pay them additional money for the damage they created to be repaired. We refuse, and they inform us that they will not do the work unless we pay more. To recap: We hired MidAmerica Basement Systems to do a job. They destroyed our property and legitimately caused thousands of dollars in damage to our home. They made every attempt to avoid us rather than work with us to solve the problem. They tell us they will fix the problem they created, only to go back on their word days later and say that they will not fix the problem until we pay them more money. We are now responsible for repairing all of the damages they created, and are left with a massive safety hazard. Do not hire this company or trust them with your home or your property. You will regret it, just like we have. read more

I'm giving this company one star for their quality of work and quality of service. I bought my house without knowing there was waterproofing done by mid America basements. Therefore thought nothing about transferring a warranty to my name (my fault). I had to tear apart my basement because of their poor quality of work. The concrete they used on the job eroded away and caused a flaw in their system. After notifying them a couple times they would just try selling me stuff that would "fix" the issue. It took until the third time calling for them to realize it wasn't my basement that was the problem but their quality of work. The warranty claim department contacted me the following day and told me they would look into the issue and call me the next day. I revealed to them a couple times at this point that I never knew about any warranty needing to be transferred so therefore I never transfered it to my name and they told me okay. Several weeks of me calling them to get an answer on what they were going to do they told me they would send someone out August 19 of this year to resolve the problem under warranty. Thinking to myself great they are fixing their mistake. August 19th comes and 2 workers come in to scope out the situation to make repairs. They inform me that the whole water proofing system would need to be replaced because it's worse than what they thought. Once again I get asked if I transfered my warranty I tell them no and I ask if I'm going to have to pay out of pocket for this to be resolved. Their worker tells me "no it's written down as warranty work it'll be covered under warranty, don't worry". Once again great they will fix their problem. Yet again their warranty claims department was HORRIBLE to work with no calls back I have to call them several times a week to finally get an answer 3 weeks later that they would not resolve the issue because I never transfered the warranty. There are other companies that I hear from my co workers that do water proofing in the quad cities I would give them a call before going to this one. Not only did they give me false hope their quality of work did not last and I had to tear apart my finished basement and will have to do repairs either myself or call in someone else. read more

We hired MidAmerican Basement Systems to install a radon remediation system in our house. The salesperson was very nice and professional. The actual installation of the system was fine. However, they scheduled the installation and then failed to show up on that day. I had rearranged our laundry room in preparation for the install. I put the laundry back so we could use it. We scheduled the install for a 2nd date. They failed to show up. When I called them for the 3rd install date they said they would come the next day. I told them if they didn't come on that date that I would want my deposit back. Trying to get these people to call me back for the rescheduled installations was difficult. I had to call them repeatedly since they failed to call me back even though I left messages on their voice mail. They also said they mailed me a radon test to check our house after the install. It has been a couple weeks and I have not received the radon test. The radon remediation system they installed is working fine, but it is pretty loud. It makes a rather noticeable hum. read more

Completely dissatisfied. Made an appointment to have our foundation fixed on the front lower corner of our home. They came out to give an estimate and SEEMED very professional at that point. That was last fall. When it came time for the appointment IN APRIL they switched it TWICE. Their reasons? Because they had another job in our city and wanted to make them for the same day. They didn't show and called to say they ran out of time and would have to come another day. We got pushed back and they were late coming that day! So my husband had now taken 3 different days off of work to make sure he was around for these people. Then after a couple hours of digging around they said they couldn't do it. Because the dirt under our house kept caving in. They knocked a few cinder blocks loose so now our problem became URGENT because we had a giant hole in our house. We paid a $250 down payment and we would like it back for all of our wasted time. The job was not done and they actually made it worse. He has called at least 5 times or more to get his money back and they ignore him. They say they'll look into it and call him back and not once have they called him. This was May 1st so needless to say we are both very unhappy. So Midamerica basement if you're wondering, yes we got the problem fixed and if you want to make it right on your end, you have my husband's phone number!! read more

We had them come out and give us an estimate. Estimate total was a little over $8,000.00, we decided that we would do this in steps. We put down the 10% and were told we could pay it off no interest in a year. The salesman Mark Kuertz said when he left we were "all good" and that scheduling would be contacting us to set it all up. We were scheduled over a month out. That day came, they were to be at our house at 8am, that time came and went and an hour later came and went. We decided to call and the girl goes on the phone "oh they are running behind and should be there in a few hours"...Really? and no call to inform us of this delay!??? They got there around 11am and the guys were friendly, no complaints there. I was expecting to get a monthly bill from them since we have done this type of payment plan before. Instead we get a call from an Amber who was rather rude and basically accused us of trying to default on payment with them since we didn't contact their loan company to settle our bill with them. We informed Amber that we were never told that we had to contact any loan company, that we had put down the 10%, were doing the one year no interest payments and that we had the paperwork from Mark stating as such. We also asked why they would have come out and performed their services if this was an issue??? Amber stated that she didn't know what to do, that she was just doing her job and that we needed to contact the loan company. We contacted the loan company, got paperwork with a 16.75% interest rate...we will never be dealing with this company again and they lost about $5,000.00 worth of business from us. They also need to give their employees a course in professionalism. read more

They cover a very large geographic area from a base in Davenport, IA. This might not be an issue if you are nearby, but isn't very convenient if you are 2 hours away. The initial salesman was friendly, seemed knowledgeable, and the price was great, so we went with them for a drainage system. He recommended a full encapsulation, but assured us that a perimeter drain with dual sumps would dry it out if we didn't care about using the crawl space for storage. A day later they found some add-ons that were forgotten, I figured, mistakes happen let's still go with it - again the price was attractive. The workers were booked out over a month which was inconvenient, but doable and seemed to be par for the course with crawlspace work. The workers were friendly and didn't make a mess. However, a month later and we still have problems with standing water in the middle of the drainage area. Had them out to look, $65 by the way, for them to tell me later it isn't covered by their warranty because they didn't do a full encapsulation. Then they say doing the perimeter without the encapsulation wasn't a good idea to begin with and that they would investigate why this was done, then offered to do more work for an additional fee. They certainly aren't scam artists as a previous review said, but I won't work with them again. read more
