February, 2026 - Service decline is overshadowing a decade of good service. After 10 years of wonderful experiences with Fakhouri M.D., Bedikian D.O.and Zats DPM the recent decline in front desk service is impossible to ignore. The staff answering the phones are consistently unhelpful or unprofessional, which is a sharp departure from the high standards this location used to maintain. I'm leaving one star today in hopes that management addresses these staffing issues and restores the quality I know they're capable of. read more

I went here to get a finger straight, pinky finger as a matter of fact Had a consultation went to surgery the doctor cut my finger in a horseshoe type cut and did not do anything else. I've been in pain for three months. it still crooked and they charged me $500 and my insurance company thousands of dollars ridiculous people here do not go for help. Due to an injured hand, I was able to meet with Dr. Anton Fakhouri the day after I called. He is amazing, very professional, explained my injury was a fractured wrist, and it was convenient to have the exrays and cast done in my visit, all done there by a great staff. I would highly recommend him - and they have emergency services. The other referrals I had were 1-2.5 weeks out. I'm so glad that Mickey, the owner of Goodlife Therapy referred me here. This is the second time I have attempted to go to mid America ortho in mokena(walk in). The first time was under the advisement from my daughters pediatrician after she was in a car accident. After waiting for nearly an hour, having the receptionist check with the team to make sure she could be seen, we were called back only for a PA to tell us they couldn't see us and to try back on Monday. Today, I called ahead letting them know I was close by and in a lot of neck pain I asked if they had someone available at mokena they confirmed and advised to go to the office. I get there to met with a man at the desk who seemed surprised there are walk ins then stated I couldn't be seen because the computer was down. What happened to having a back up plan? I'm so irritated I will NEVER be coming back and will advise everyone to go elsewhere. This place is ridiculous and has -0- common courtesy. read more

I am giving this one star due to the preauthorization process for this group. I have been waiting since May to get gel shots for my knees authorized. I was due to begin them July 1st. The preauth person named Tammy, never begins the preauth process until the day you are due. That is absolutely ridiculous. It takes at least a month to complete the preauth process. I should have been scheduled weeks ago for my first appointment last week in a series of 3 . It's bad enough you can only get the injections every 6 mos. But due to the incompetence of Tammy, I end up not being able to get them until every 7 to 8 months. My doctor is wonderful and that's why I came back to the practice after getting fed up with Tammy and going somewhere for a year. I would love to hear from others if you are also having problems with this Tammy person who never returns calls and is causing access to care issues. read more

I give this practice ZERO stars. Horrible experience. Horrible communication. My mom went for a consultation December 17th and we are still waiting for her knee injection to be scheduled. After waiting 4 weeks they are now telling us they no longer are offering these shots!! Or is it just because she is a MEDICARE PATIENT we were told at consultation that it is a 4 week process so we patiently waited only to find this out now???? I have called both offices every day for the past few weeks trying to get answers. I have left several messages for TAMMY and VANISHA the supervisor. No call back from either person. Have seen a couple doctors at MidAmerica and none have ever disappoint. Specifically, I have seen Dr. Meisel the most and am impressed w/his demeanor, expertise, he truly knows his stuff, will tell you like it is and you can make your final decision. He recently came to my aid w/a very nasty pain episode w/my shoulder. Took care of it, expressed what else he thought was going on w/cervical and I walked out a happy camper. I had surgery and now I'm disabled. Should have never happened. I have a severe nerve injury after Dr Meisel did surgery on my shoulder. He has ruined my life. I am now attempting to get a job because we used a great portion of my retirement to pay for medical bills. Now no one will hire me because of my disability. I need to go back to work after seven years and no one will hire me because of my disability he left me with . 100 percent of this is his fault but I continue to pay for his error. I would not recommend him at all. Yes he's nice but his surgical skills suck!!!!! read more

The doctor seemed nice but the epidural didn't work. Had an appointment Monday. I am in terrible pain. Doctor said he was going to give me a round of steroids. I've been waiting for 3 days for it to be called in to the pharmacy. When I call to find out what's wrong as to why I haven't gotten this prescription yet. I get my head bit off. Girl said she has nothing to do with that. Yet I hit the prompt to speak to someone about prescriptions. I'm finding a new doctor. I'm done!! read more

Based on my personal experience as a MidAmerica Orthopaedics patient, they do not uphold their commitment to their Mission, Vision, or Value statements. Below are several bullets of this terrible experience. There are far too many details to share in this format that further emphasizes the lack of professionalism. My experience is based on a severe sprain with ankle break. After initial treatment I had calf pain and was unable to walk or put any weight on my ankle (while in the boot). I called their office to speak with my doctor (Dr. Zats). I did not receive a return call until the next day stating I should go to the emergency room with a possible blood clot. This was a call by an assistant (not the treating physician). There was no follow up regarding my emergency room visit. I followed their protocol for physical therapy but was not improving. Doesn't surprise me since there was no hands on by the PT. They simply observed me perform the exercises based on a print out they provided. since the PT was not working Dr. Zats referred me to an outside PT group. As a result, I paid double. fortunately the second PT group was more experienced and trained. They then recommended orthopedic inserts (not sure how this helps for a sprain/break) but I purchased (2) pair of non-custom orthotics at their recommendation. During a follow up visit I was informed my insurance would cover custom orthotics with no out of pocket expenses. I agreed to order custom orthotics based on this information. Prior to the orthotics being completed, I called to cancel the custom version since the original inserts were working fine. They proceeded with the custom orthotics anyway. As it turns out, my insurance would not cover any portion and I was charged $1400 by MidAmerica for the custom inserts (which cause pain so I reverted back to the non-custom inserts). I sent several letters (and calls) asking for an explanation but not a single person from their office is professional enough to reach out to me. If I (or a family member) is ever in need of medical service of this nature again, I will find another provider without hesitation! read more

Palos Office: They do not uphold the services they provide on their website. I had my kids there years ago and loved it. My 23 year old daughter recently hurt her foot somehow and was having trouble walking and I told her to go straight there. I first checked the website to make sure they still took walk ins and it was during the hours it stated. I don't know if she wasn't taken seriously because she looks young, but when she got to the front desk and explained she hurt her foot and needed an x-ray, she was told they wouldn't just do an x-ray she needed to see a doctor. Understandable. She then asked to see a doctor and was told she needed an appointment and they scheduled her an appointment for the following week. She was also told that she needed a referral. Not only did they not check her id, but never asked for her insurance card because they would have learned that her insurance doesn't require a referral. She called me upset from the car and I found an urgent care close by to send her to. This is where they told her she had a broken foot and MidAmerica just let her walk out the door. I called and asked for the name of the office manager to get clarification why she was turned away. Received the name Jennifer Batshon and left three voicemails messages for her over the course of a week and have YET to receive a call back. No wonder why the office staff doesn't make customer service a priority if the one in charge doesn't either. read more

Just finished my therapy for my fractured right wrist and I couldn't be happier with the treatment I received. I was lucky enough to have Talal J., as my therapist and I couldn't be happier. He was attentive and extremely patient with me. Explained everything he was doing and why. He gave me exercises that I could do at home to help with my recovery. I truly don't think I would have done as well as I did with a different therapist. He was doing his clinicals (I hope that is right term) and was I grateful he wasn't done until I was. I truly think he would be a wonderful asset to your organization once he is done with his next series of clinicals. His people skills and talent for what he is doing is remarkable. Mokena Location. The doctor was rude and condescending and most of the staff which were interacted with were not any better. This was surprising and disappointing. They advertise, and tell you on the phone that they have a comprehensive COVID-19 policy but don't enforce it or put it into practice. Doctor who examined did not wash hands, didn't wear a mask, when asked to follow their own office policy and pull his mask up - he was incredibly rude. If that's your thing; you know, being treated like you have no worth, then maybe it's a great place for you. But frankly, I feel that if I'm being respectful that respect should be returned. It's kind of a simple philosophy. Anyway, I hope that they change their ways, for the benefit of others who may come after my family. However, by reading their reviews here and in other places, it seems like their office culture is one to be condescending and provide poor care. Through cancer treatments we found many good doctors who are kind, compassionate, and caring for their patient. Doctors who listen and put the patient needs first. When you live that experience, you know that they could do better. What we witnessed is a conscious decision to not do that. Patient beware. My 5 year old saw Dr. Chapman for a broken wrist. The office staff fit us in for an appointment the same day I called whereas the doctor's office recommended by the ER was scheduling 5 days out. Wait time between our arrival at the office and being seen by the doctor was short, and Dr. Chapman and the staff were fantastic at making my son feel comfortable while getting his cast on and having it removed. We could not be happier with our experience at MidAmerica. read more

The billing department is a joke! I just got a statement TWO YEARS and TWO MONTHS after services were provided telling me the insurance could not identify the patient! I called and the woman I spoke with blamed me saying that I gave them the wrong card and even though they ran the insurance that day and it came back that my daughter was covered, it's apparently my fault because I should have called them when I got a new insurance card!Maybe if their billing department wasn't so incompetent and followed up on denials with both the insurance company and the member, they would have gotten payment from the insurance! Now, they are past timely filing and it's my problem? So, no one called the insurance when a denial was received and no one bothered reaching out to me and it's "oh well, the balance belongs to the patient". Wow! I will NEVER refer anyone to them or step foot in their office again! Not a good way to keep patients!! read more

While crossing 95th street in Oak Lawn, I took a nasty fall, fractured my right ankle in multiple places, and tore my right patellar tendon (OUCH!). After a week of being immobile and in excruciating pain, I was recommended to MidAmerica Orthopedics for surgery. I was unable to walk, bend my knee or pump my ankle. A single mom of three, I was mentally a mess, this accident left me depressed and broken both physically and emotionally. Dr. Adam Meisel and my other care partners (Tina, Kailee, and Jon) were invaluable! They cared for me holistically and took care of my heart and mental health as well as my traumatic injured knee & ankle. My team understood my fears, understood my pain levels, answered my calls, and comforted me when I cried. I would not have recovered as nicely or as quickly without them addressing all my concerns. Dr. Meisel, Tina, Kailee, and Jon provided informative care, timely follow-up's, speedy call backs, prescriptions refills, and handled all my paper work for worker's compensation effortlessly! The entire staff is kind and patient, with easy access for caregivers, and newly remodeled facility that is comfortable when walking is an issue. On October 13, 2018, I called to schedule an appointment with Dr. Fakhouri at MidAmerica Hand to Shoulder Clinic. Dr. Fakhouri has done multiple surgeries on myself and my wife over the years, totaling well over $60,000. He is a great Dr. and we have sent numerous friends of ours to see him as well. Michelle answered the phone to schedule my appointment today. I have been getting excruciating nerve attacks in my right hand. My Cubitle tunnel surgery was about 4-5 years ago. After looking up my file, the first thing she said was that I owed them $7.32 from 4-5 years ago from my surgery. I asked if she was kidding. She said no, and that the bill had to be paid. If they had billed me for it , I would have paid it. Over the years, my out of pockets were probably over 20K with them. I told Michelle that I didn't think it was appropriate that $7 was the first thing mentioned but she kept demanding her $7. I hung up and called back hoping to talk to someone else, instead I got her again. I am in pain. Dr, Fakhouri is my doctor. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars with him already. I need an appointment. I WILL PAY THE 7 BUCKS!! Michelle chose to literally argue with me over the phone and talk over me without my getting a word in edgewise. OVER 7 DOLLARS? I was referred to the walk-in clinic by little company of mary care clinic and was given their number since they are open until 8pm, however i called the number on their website and I got the answering service since the doctor's office is closed. No one seems to know how I can get in touch with the walk-in clinic, so I'm apprehensive to drive all the way out there not knowing if they are actually open or if they can take me. I think it's great that they have a walk-in clinic but it's impossible to reach them by phone. read more

My 12-year-old son broke his radial bone in his wrist. We were referred to this office from South Suburban Hospital. When I say this process has been painless for us, I mean it. The office was modern, the staff was friendly and kind. Dr. Fahkouri bedside manner was like talking to a brother, he understood our concerns. He even let us know he had the same issue with his 12-year son. I was relieved. The staff made my son feel relieved, the gave him tips on how to prevent future injuries. CHECK YOUR BILLING!!! Doctor care seemed to be good, however, the office person made my husband pay $300.00 upfront (even though our insurance covers @ 100%) He didn't know any better so he paid. Then they billed me another $443.00. The bill clear showed that our insurance paid it 100% and they still tried to charge me another $443.00 more! When I called the office they said, "oh yes this is wrong and they shouldn't do that and then offered to send me our $300.00 back and make the balance $0.00 that they wanted us to pay. Once again, my husband would have probably just paid the bill. I told them that they do this for a living and I teach 6th grade reading. Wouldn't THEY have been able to see the error before me? Dr. Jackson has no bedside manner at all. Consultation lasted all of 10 minutes including the physical exam. Began to say something but then changed my mind as I wouldn't let him treat my dog let alone my disc. As a nurse for 30 years, I have never experienced such bad customer service but then again he is a surgeon oh let me clarify a neurosurgeon. Professionalism must not have been a topic at John Hopkins or Dr. Carson. read more

There is absolutely no follow-up here. Multiple phone calls never returned. Received injection for pain. Pain not relieved and is worse than ever. My message also stated I would be unable to perform my work requirements due to the pain.I called repeatedly regarding this. Previous injection received by another doctor lasted for 6 months. I wanted to know if same dose given or less, or another reason it was ineffective. NEVER received a return phone call. I am so happy I did not have my surgery performed here. Eventually that will be my only option. Staff member extremely rude last time I called. Find another facility if you have orthopaedic problems. read more

My experience at mid America has been horrible. They performed carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand. Ever since they cut me i have been in terrible pain. I have had two appointments since the surgery and have told them how painful it is. Their answer to me is more norco. Scar tissue is very painful and my hand is still swollen. I will probably have to have another surgery. It will not be there. My rating on them is zero. read more

On October 17, I went to MidAmerica Orthopaedics S.C. after leaving Physicians Prompt Care. Physician's Prompt care was quick with a minimal wait and we were on our way to MidAmerica within 45 minutes. They got us in, took xrays and Dr. Jefferson was quick and efficient. I was referred to MidAmerica by my pediatrician's office, so I called them to see if they were able to take us. They said yes, they do take walk-in's and to come over and they would get us right in. So I told Prompt Care that since MidAmerica would take us right away that I wouldn't get a splint from them and just go over to MidAmerica Orthopaedics. We checked in at 2:14 pm. I was becoming more frustrated watching patients going into their appointments. I had not been alerted that it was an appointment & walk-in facility. In my experience, when you are a walk-in, they FIT YOU IN. We were not seen until 4:14 pm by a physician's assistant named Dr. Veldman, PA. Dr. Veldman came in about 20 minutes later asking son how his injury happened. He told her. She then said that it looked like a fracture at his tibia near his growth plate and that also a fracture on his femer. She left to get a brace. She came back with crutches that she opened and fitted for my son. She did not bring a brace and brought a piece of paper along with a prescription for a brace. She then told me that I needed to call "this number" to get a brace and I would have to travel to Matteson to pick up a brace when it was available. I told her that I was confused and I didn't understand... why would I be sent somewhere to get a brace when I'm at an orthopedic facility. She said they don't have a brace small enough for my son's injury. So I expressed that I thought this was unacceptable care; that they could call the company and get a brace for me; that this was why I didn't have Prompt Care put him in a splint since I was coming to an actual assessment; that I had waited over two hours already for them to send me to another place? She then said she would call and left the room. So then a nurse or a PT assistant - not sure which - comes in with a brace and tries to fit it on my son's leg. She then takes it off and leaves the room. The PA comes back and says: Come on, let's go get a split put on that leg. At this point, I'm REALLY CONFUSED. We get down to the cast/splint room. I say: First you said he has 2 fractures and you are getting a brace, then you say you don't have a brace and I need to call for one and then you said you would call for one and now you are putting a splint on him. Can you please explain to me what is going on? She say: Well, the place that you would have gotten a brace is closed now. WHAT?! So I say: It's closed? I am here for 3 hours and now you are splinting him. What do I need to do? Can I take this splint off? She says: No, this doesn't come off. I say: Well, it needs to since he will have to change his pants for school tomorrow. She says: Oh, well, you can take it off, but then put it back on. At this point I am very very frustrated. She is not communicating with me and we have been at this place for 3 hours. At this point, a Dr. Meisel introduces himself and asks me my name and if I have problem. I tell him, "yes, I have a problem. I am trying to communicate with this PA asking questions about my son's situation and I'm not getting the answers I need. I don't understand why I have been here for 3 hours to get a splint after she told me he needed a brace, only to learn you don't have a brace his size and that I will need to call "this number" to order the brace and then go pick it up in Matteson. He said they don't have a bunch of (then he used an acronym for an item that I didn't understand) items from all over just lying around and he began to talk down to me. I said that I didn't need to be spoken down to like that and I am just going to go; I had been there too long and I don't like the way I'm being treated. I tell him: I don't understand. This is an orthopedic facility and you tell me you don't have a brace and you tell your patient to CALL a number? That if I had known my son would be getting a splint, I would have had that done at the Prompt Care and not tried to come over here. He said that the people up front don't know what they have for patients. I said: Ok, well, I'm finished. We are leaving now. He says: Well, if you would just stop and let me explain, you would understand. I say: Well, I have been here 3 hours now and I'm ready to go. If you have something important to explain, you can walk me out. This is unacceptable treatment and the worst I've ever experienced. They were unprofessional, uncommunicative and a waste of my time. I had right carpal tunnel surgery, left carpal tunnel surgery and left thumb joint replacement by Dr. Fakhouri. I cannot say enough about the excellent care and treatment I received. My pre-op care was wonderful. Dr. Fakhouri's surgical skills are top-notch, and their Palos Surgi-center staff is the best. My recovery time was minimal, due to Dr. Fakhour's phenomenal surgical techniques, and the very efficientl Occupational Therapy Dept. in Mokena. (close to my home) All of the staff at MidAmerica Orthoopaedics could not have been nicer. Dr.Fakhouri performed a right thumb and right carpal tunnel release on me in November, 2015. I was in a lot of pain.for over a year. He did an excellent job and I can hardly see my scar.
