My experience with MidAmerica Orthopedics has been extremely disappointing. The lack of…read morecommunication, follow-through, and basic coordination has reached a level that I consider unacceptable for a medical practice. I have had multiple issues involving prescriptions, with problems requiring repeated effort on my part to get addressed. Communication at checkout has been just as poor. I have left appointments with little to no information about follow-up care, next steps, orders, prescriptions, or what I was supposed to do after leaving the office. Patients should not have to chase their medical provider for basic information related to their own treatment. The most frustrating example involved an MRI. I had specifically communicated that I am claustrophobic and would need medication in order to complete the procedure. Despite that, I drove approximately one hour each way for the MRI only to find that I could not complete it because the necessary prescription had not been handled. Whether the physician did not adequately document or act on what I told them, or the staff failed to follow through and transmit the prescription, the end result was the same: I wasted two hours driving, lost an entire morning and roughly half a day of work, and still did not get the MRI completed. That should never happen. A patient should not be sent to a procedure when the practice knows--or has been told--that something must be addressed beforehand and then fails to make sure it is done. The clinical appointment is only one part of patient care. Prescription management, communication, coordination of orders, follow-up instructions, and making sure a patient is actually prepared for a scheduled procedure are basic responsibilities of a medical practice. In my experience, MidAmerica Orthopedics has repeatedly fallen short in these areas. Mistakes happen. Repeated communication failures that cost a patient significant time, missed work, unnecessary travel, and delayed care are something different. I expected a much higher level of organization, accountability, and professionalism from MidAmerica Orthopedics.

Dr Branovacki replaced my right hip and left knee within 4 months...knee is getting replaced by another Doctor (11 months later!!!) and the hip has to be put on hold until I can get the knee revision and all the work after that. My "bad" hip feels better than the replacement. He is pleasant when he meets with you but don't be fooled!! He wants to do many surgeries (did 13-15 with both my joint replacements in a day!!! Unheard of after talking to multiple new doctors!) and tells his patients the replacements last 30 years!!! My knee lasted 11 months and the hip he replaced will be next!!! Do not use Midwest ortho in Orland or oak lawn!!!! Do your research...there's many better ones out there!!! Your time and quality of life matters!!! Dr Branovacki took my quality of life for the last 1.5 years!!! I've seen Dr Leonard for shoulders who has you wait forever and has probably also gotten too many patients and rushes you out of the office. Dr Emily mayekar for my hand...talk about no bedside manner...so rude. Please steer clear of this place!!!! Do not use Midwest Ortho!!!

He explained the slides and the action plan. He answered all my questions and gave thorough and knowledgeable explanations. This is a repeat visit for me with torn meniscus on my other knee now. I never thought twice of who I would go see for my knee. He cleared up my left knee 2 years ago, and I have every confidence that he will clear up the right knee. I did the round of P.T. and my chiropractor taking care of it, but with it not clearing up, the chiro finally said -- you need the Ortho now. I know I'm in good hands with Dr. Stender. I found Dr. Stender to be arrogant, rude and condescending. I was already dealing with a lot of pain and I had come to him with high hopes...that was my mistake. He was more interested in bragging about himself rather than focusing on my concerns. It always seemed like he never looked at any of the reports or documents that I gave him because he always seemed to get defensive when I knew more about what was wrong with me than he did. Furthermore, every time I brought up a question or wanted a little bit more explanation, he would always respond like he was speaking to a child who didn't know any better. I always left with the feeling that I had done something wrong to justify this constant type of behavior. But in reality, that was just his approach to me. I thought I could stomach this a little longer in order to keep seeing an orthopedic doctor, but there should be no trade off when it comes to my h I hope that anyone who reads this, will think twice before setting up an appointment. I understand that it is hard finding the right doctor, but you have a choice. The doctor that you choose can either aide or hinder your recovery. With Dr Primus & team please bring up all the issues you have in order for treatment to be successful. I came for my knees I believe I slipped and fell when it icy out onto my knees, maybe 4-5 years ago but I didn't break anything. My knees finally had it and started to buckle after exercising last spring. Dr Primus performed surgery on the left knee which gave me the most problems. The right started feel the effects of overuse so I received a steroid injection. My surgery went well I was able to maneuver on my own without crutches within 5 weeks. Trust when I tell you that the recovery is painful but you'll get better in time. Trust the process with keeping up with appointments PT and doing exercises at home. PT team is all that, always attentive to working my knees using equipment and body calisthenics. You don't wait for them normally give precise appointments so you're not rushed but again let them know how you are feeling and all issues. To care for yourself after will aid you in recovery. A 9.5 out of 10 for me but be prepared to wait for Dr Primus. He is very skilled, attentive and trying to help out everyone. For the most part people are willing to wait to wait for him. Bring your patience when choosing Dr Primus, you will wait some times but he is so worth it!!! Before coming to CSO I previously went to a center whom I shall NOT name and they were not attentive.
