I had the strangest experience at this Midas location today. I had called yesterday and made an appointment. Dimitri was super friendly on the phone. I came in for an oil change at my appointment time. The team took my car straight in. They performed an oil change service and tire rotation. They gave my car a clean bill of health, charged me 30 bones and some change and sent me on my way. While I was in there, I witnessed Dimitri treat 4 different customers like family. I couldn't believe how nice he is. He genuinely seemed to care about every person who walked in the door - myself included. That's what made my experience here so strange. The service provided was unsatisfactory. I took my daughter's vehicle in to have the air conditioning system diagnosed. In my opinion, if I am paying for a diagnostic service, I should receive an accurate diagnosis of the problem--not a guess. Once I know what is actually wrong, I can then decide whether or not to proceed with the repair. I was given an estimate of more than $1,300 to repair the A/C system, even though the shop did not appear to know with certainty what the problem was. I was told the vehicle needed an evaporator and new A/C lines, and that because of the age of the vehicle, the parts would be difficult to find. One of the lines they claimed needed replacement was estimated at around $320. I found the exact replacement line from an online auto parts supplier for approximately $12. I would suggest not using fear tactics or claims that parts are "hard to find" as a way to justify expensive repairs. You never know who you are talking to. I am a mechanic by trade and have experience diagnosing and repairing automotive A/C systems. I replaced the line myself, noting that the condenser was already brand new. After installing the correct line, vacuuming the system, and recharging it with the proper amount of refrigerant, the air conditioning system worked properly. The total cost of the repair was well under $100. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service department for A/C diagnostics or repairs. My issue was resolved and fixed by me with a new $12 line from rockauto.com , refrigerant from AutoZone , I also borrowed their equipment to vacuum down the system and put in new refrigerant less than $100 total invested, which was a far cry from the $1,300 estimate I was given. read more

Over all the shop seems ok, they can get the job done, But beware, women, teens, and people that don't know something about mechanics an your own car. I took my car in for rear brakes and possibly rotors. Demitri came back with an estimate for 1675.00! For front and rear pads, rotors, and rear calipers. Also a wheel bearing. I had them put the truck back together and took it to my normal "non chain" mechanic. Needed back brake pads and rotors. Everything was fine! 470.00 later my truck is driving great! I feel entirely taken Advantage of and will warn others. A month later and everything is just fine. Calipers not seized, no beating issues. read more

I drove my car to this Midas with the ABS light and Stabilizer, check engine light on. The check engine light came on after ABS light, so we assumed ABS triggered it. Midas diagnosed the car. Told me Front Hub, Speed Sensor, was causing the lights to be on. But also code for 1 fuel injector, Valve cover gasket & spark plugs was suggested be repaired. I agreed to have work done. I picked my car up Friday afternoon, it smelled like gas had been poured in my car. By Saturday afternoon 3pm, my car would not start and gas was pouring out the bottom of my car. I had it towed back to Midas on Saturday, they were already closed. I got a call Monday Morning, telling me, "the reason my car is leaking gas is because I need to replace the other 5 injectors on my car. The injectors was never the issue on the vehicle. Now my car is not drivable due to this Shop. And they have not taken responsibility for none of the inconvenience they have caused me. They have lost a customer and I won't recommend NO ONE to this place. The manager is one of the most unprofessional, inconsiderate, unapologetic,people I met in my entire life. I've been to this location several times. The first time I had the AC recharged and an axle replaced on a '97 Lumina. A pressure test was performed to see if the system had a leak. Supposedly there was no leak. All was good for a few weeks. Returned a few weeks later in late May because the AC wouldn't blow cold air. They put a black light on it, you guessed it, it showed residue on the underside. I was quoted $750 for parts and labor (almost $500 for the compressor). I had them replace the spark plugs and wires which cost me $100. I thought it was fair price for labor (provided my own plugs and wires). I did some shopping around for the compressor. With little effort I found the part at Auto Zone for $220. That's a savings of 127%. Found a mechanic to install the part, 45 minutes, $80. Lastly, I took it elsewhere to have it charged $80. The AC works great and I saved $400 by not using Midas. Midas is good for basic work like oil changes and of course their specialty mufflers. But I would be cautious about using them for more complicated problems with your auto. Lesson, have a trustworthy mechanic you can call. The staff at this Midas was both courteous and polite. They seemed knowledgeable, but that is questionable. read more

Took my car in for 2 tires to get put on. In which they broke my sensors. They didn't call me, they just put them on (WTF). They denied it of course and said they were already broken. My Land Rover would have notified me (chime or a dashboard light)... They said we'll cut you a deal on 2 sensors significantly less than the dealer... It was too... But for some reason now my dashboard lights are going crazy now, I take it to the dealer and they tell me, those are the wrong sensors (WTF) ... Now they say they can't help me, cause they threw away the old sensors... Wouldn't trust them guys with filling up my gas tank... read more

I brought my van in because I was hearing a noise when accelerating. My vehicle was diagnosed and I was told that it was belt and pulley. I was quoted a price of $720. After sitting there for two hours, I paid for my vehicle and was told that they can still hear the noise but it was not "as loud" and that it was likely my transmission. I drove around the block and the noise was just as loud. I even took the employee on a test drive and he stated "he thought the noise sounded better and it was the transmission. While driving, not only did the noise NOT seem lower, I was hearing it when the car was in park and it would slowly die down. This is something that my car was not doing before but when I called Midas back, he claimed it was doing that when he got inside of it. Now, my car is jolting when I try to accelerate and even when I am driving. I don't even feel safe driving my car. I wasn't met with any explanation other than "it's probably the transmission. So I paid $757 dollars for absolutely nothing. When I called back, of course the tech was gone for the day and there wasn't much they could do. This place is a rip off! read more

I have never left a review for an auto repair shop before but these folks deserve it! I am so used to chasing down different shops whenever I need auto work based on quotes I get prior to going in, and then expecting to spend time arguing over what needs to be done and what they want to do to drive the price up. No doubt these folks had the best price I could find, but they also had amazing customer service. The gent that I spoke to and worked with, Demetrius, was just genuinely friendly. All that said they did a great job, didn't push unnecessary repairs. Not only that when I asked how much it would be to rotate the tires, his response was "no charge" we have the tires off to do the brakes anyway. I can't even begin to say enough about how happy I was with the service here. The oil pressure indicator came on in my car yesterday while I was on the way to the train station in Aberdeen. When I got to my stop, I called Midas, explained what was going on, and that my return trip would put me back in Aberdeen shortly before they closed for the day. The owner told me to bring the car over, and they would hook it to the computer to read the codes so we could schedule service. When I got back to the station (later than expected), I called to make sure it was still good to come over, since it was only 2 minutes before closing time. They told me to bring the car in, and they'd take a look. So, I did. The light was not on when I started the car or when I got it there, but, they checked it, and checked the oil level. They found the problem to be that there was not enough oil in the engine to even register on the dipstick, but, they also found no leaks in the system (which has me questioning the place that did the last oil change). Even though it was after closing, they stayed nearly an hour to perform an oil change, then took the car around the block to make sure there were no further issues and that the light didn't come back on. Having had an engine seize up due to lack of oil where the indicator never came on (thanks, Honda), I was lucky, and glad they were able to handle this for me so quickly. In talking to the owner of the shop, they want to leverage their proximity to the train station to offer commuter friendly service by offering pick up / drop off of the vehicle at the station, as well as text messaging to let owners know what they find and to get authorization for repairs. That, alone, tells me they're as committed to customer service as they are in providing excellent mechanical service. read more

My brakes had been squeaking badly, but I don't drive often and wasn't concerned about getting them checked out until I had to take a small road trip for work. I was really pressed for time and called several places in the area to try to get my brakes serviced on a Saturday. Dimitri was very nice on the phone and said they would squeeze me in, no problem. (While I was waiting at Midas, their schedule filled up, but I heard him refer people who were calling for service to other places in the area that do good work and are reasonably priced. That's great customer service, in my book.) So I drove the full hour to Aberdeen (I live in a rural area on the Eastern Shore) and the waiting room was busy; I was seen immediately. As I waited, Dimitri made sure to check in with everyone to give them timely updates on their service. Not long after, he checked in with me--with great news! It turned out my brakes were 100% functional and in good shape; the squeaking, they explained, was likely a result of some air getting in grooves in the rotors, which can happen in European cars. He said I really did not need to replace anything and that I was completely safe. They also checked my headlight for me; the bulb had come loose, and so they popped it back in. They also checked all the air in my tires and filled them before they sent me on my way--for free. Not a single cent for the brake evaluation or for checking out my headlight. It would have been so easy to tell me I needed new pads, new rotors, and to charge me hundreds or even a thousand dollars to do so. These guys are courteous and honest--and won my business for life. My first experience at this location, I went in to get a tire and took longer than I expected, however it was no fault of the location for the tire. On that visit, I immediately felt comfortable because the employees made feel relaxed, even though I was in a rush for the tire. My second experience was when my muffler came off just as I pulled off the exit from I-95 to aberdeen. I called this location to see if they could accomodate me with a muffler on such a short notice. I was told to bring the car in and they will do the best they could. I can honestly say that this experience far out-weighed my first experience and at that moment I knew I would be a repeat customer. Not that I wanted special treatment, nor felt I deserved it, however fromt he moment I walked in, I was greeted as if I had been a customer for many years. The exhaust system I had on the car was rigged together, however they took the time to completely correct the exhaust system and it wasn't as expensive as I expected it to me. My most recent experience was a slow leak in my tire. Took it in and in no time I had the tire fixed. I can honestly say that I would recommend this location if you are looking for friendly, professional and honestly service. A few months ago, I took my Chrysler Sebring to another place (auto dealer) for an oil change and as usual, was informed of other work (Left hub bearing, serpentine belt and alignment) that was needed to get done. As usual it is not always the parts (although sometimes it is), its normally the labor. Normally I shrug my shoulders and go away with the mechanic's recommendations but this time, I wanted a second opinion. Last week, I decided to take the car into Midas and get the second opinion on my car. My left front tire was now giving me problems so I wanted that looked at as well. I like the fact that they drove the car to get a feel of it, and not just taking my word for it because I'm not mechanic savvy. Turns out I did need the left hub bearing and the alignment but I did not need the serpentine belt. Plus the mechanic tested the car after placing the let hub bearing and turns out I didn't even need the alignment. Saved myself over 80 bucks!! Could have pulled a fast one on me and did the alignment anyway. Appreciate that kind of honesty. The owner and the guy who was at the front desk that I believe was his son Dmitiri (I hope I spelled that right) kept me in the loop about the entire process, the amount of time it would take, and also quoted me prices for other car services I inquired about. Again I appreciated it all because I'm not mechanically savvy. Overall, no complaints about Midas. They were kind, treated me with respect and were extremely helpful I will definitely bring my car back, along with my husband's and recommend their services to others. Dimitri was understanding and changed my appointment to fit my schedule. He gave me the special even though it was outside the window date. He explained what he did and didn't do on my vehicles. I got to tell you, that Dimitri is one cool dude. He is very friendly and has a good heart. He treated me as though he has known me for ages. I brought my wife's 2011 HHR into the Midas in Aberdeen to get new pads and shoes and have the front discs and rear drums resurfaced. This was the first time I ever paid someone to do a brake job, but I'm very busy lately, so I thought I could trust Midas instead of doing it myself this time. Within days the brakes were squealing badly. The car was going to Firestone for an alignment and tire balance/rotation under lifetime deals I have there so I asked them to check the brakes for me. They said they didn't think the fronts were resurfaced at all based on a significant lip around the edge and bad grooves and waves on the disc. The rears were resurfaced badly at best. They also pulled a spring out of the rear passenger side that was hanging by one end only. I went back to Midas the next day and the man running the desk that I assume is the manager had the mechanic pull the tires off and then pull the drums off. He tried to say they had done the resurfacing work and the lip was because they wanted to stop and leave as much material on the disc since the pad doesn't touch that area. I've never heard of that or seen someone stop the machine before it got to the edge. I ran my fingernail on the disc and could feel the waves and ridges easily. I told them that at best it was done on a machine that was either messed up or their tool head was very dull. They were very confrontational. They tried to say that I or someone had disconnected the spring and they couldn't see any groves from it eating into the drum. I explained that the spring showed some wear but it was softer metal than the drum so it wouldn't have much effect on the drum and that it was hanging from one side on near the top of the shoe so it might have only bumped the drum a little. After some back and forth the manager told the mechanic to re-install the spring correctly and to resurface the drums and discs. I told them that I wanted my money back. They put my wife and 9 month old daughter at risk by not installing the upper return spring correctly and I didn't appreciate them not doing a job properly but charging me for it. After more back and forth the manager told me to return the pads and shoes and he'd give me my money back. He told the mechanic to just install the spring and put the tires on because I was returning the product. I ordered new discs, drums, pads and shoes from Amazon. 2 days later when they arrived I went to do the job properly. As I was removing the front pads I realized they didn't have wear indicators on any of them. The new AC Delco pads had the metal squealers on them but the Midas pads didn't. I've never seen a set of pads without any wear indicator (squealer or wire harness). I have to assume that is how they can be warrantied, for life and why we'll never hear a squeak. We'll hear the grind when the bracket starts to eat the disc though, and then I'd imagine Midas would be happy to sell me discs and try to tell me that happened because of some defect in the caliper or something similar. I have pictures of all 4 pads laid out but I returned them to Midas per our agreement. They also didn't grease the pins per every recommendation/procedure I've ever seen on replacing brakes so the caliper possibly wouldn't float as designed. The rear brakes had more surprises. Even though the mechanic was told specifically to replace the spring correctly by the manager, he didn't. He must have thrown it out because it was gone when I removed the drum. The driver's side spring was connected improperly also and fell off as soon as I touched it. I can only assume they don't actually know how to hook up the brakes correctly on a 2011 HHR. They did change the brakes somewhere between 2007 and 2011 and most manuals I've seen cover the earlier version which has completely different springs. I'm surprised they didn't take apart 1 side at a time to use the other side as a reference but some people get ahead of themselves and pull everything apart before they put one side together. I'm curious about why they wanted to pads/shoes back and what they did with them. I'd be willing to be that they installed them on someone else's vehicle. Even though they only had about 200-300 miles on them, they aren't new products, so I'd call that fraud if they install them as new parts. These guys knew this was my wife's car. There was a car seat carrier in the back seat and we had my 9 month old daughter in the shop with us. They endangered my wife and daughter by not having those brakes together properly. They endangered my wife and daughter by not resurfacing the discs and drums properly because that drastically reduced the contact area for the shoes and pads, thereby reducing brake force. I will never shop at Midas again. I really want someone to do something about this place though, so they don't end up killing some innocent person and possibly their kid, when they put together someone else's brakes wrong. read more
