Midas Auto Service & Tire complaint Beware!! Midas prays on unsuspecting customers with lies, deceit and bogus charges for unneeded services. It seems they use their mandatory $39 inspection for these scrams. Midas charged an extra $45.33 to clean front brake Drums on a $119.99 brake replacement special making it $165.32 to replace brake pads. Plus, added another $100 to clean front rotors and $49.99 for unnecessary oil change. On 06/15/2020 my niece and I had our 2015 Hyundai Accent GLS inspected prior to purchase. The inspection stated two front wheels were bent, 1 front tire had heavy wear and front brake pad were 2mm. All needed replacing. The Mike, inspector stated the back brakes and all rotors were OK. The car did not need anything else done to it. On 06/16/2020, I sent my niece to Midas for the $119.99 brake special. Since this is her first car and she wanted to handle it herself. I instructed her not to let them talk her into replacing anything else including rotors. Since the car was completely inspected the day before, my niece called me frantic because the Midas representative told her the car had no oil, the dip stick was completely dry. When I spoke to the representative she stated, "I didn't say it was completely dry, I said it was completely dry but had a little oil on the tip of the dip stick. It's very dangerous to drive it that way." I called the company that had done the initial inspection. Mike explained that the Hyundai the dip stick only goes down 1 quart. If there is oil on the tip, there is 4 quarts of oil still in it. The Owner of Forsyth Imports also stated that to my niece and to have them top it off. The Midas employees claim to be professionals and should have known there was 4 quarts of oil still remaining. Yet, they kept insisting there was no oil in the engine. Since we didn't know the date of last oil change, we had Midas change the oil. Even thou my niece kept telling them continuously that the car had already been inspected, all she wanted was $119.99 brake service, they continued to try to sell her on other services. I didn't realize she had already paid an inflated bill before I arrived or before the worked was even done. Upon inspection of her The original $347.83 work authorization list; ROTOR (RESURFACE 2 FRONT) RESURFACE 2 FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. $100.00 (charge removed) Next line; DRUM (CLEAN AND ADJUST) LABOR CHARGE ONLY $ 45.33 ( charge remained) This $45.33 appears to be a double labor charge for the front pads. It should have been taken off when the $100 to clean front Rotors was removed. My niece stated she thought it was part of the labor of the $119.99. Even thou these statements do not say so, the service representative and mechanic kept insisting it was a charge to cleaned the back drum. Please refund the $45 double charge. Total bill paid $239.23. They said they didn't start working on the car until after I arrived. I did not go inside until I saw the inflated bill. The only thing I saw the mechanic do to the back end was put the wheels back on. I have 3 other vehicles. That's the last time I will being one to them.. read more

I have been a customer of this Midas location for 15+ years. I formed what I thought to be a respectable, trustworthy relationship with the owners. On October 10, 2024, my car would not start, and I had it towed to Midas. It was late on a Thursday evening. I did not think the tow truck would arrive before closing so I stopped by to let them know the tow truck was in route. I had already called a few hours earlier but wanted to follow up. When I got there, I spoke with Sherry (owner's wife) and told her the tow truck was in route. She said she would be working late and offered to call me to let me know when my car arrived, and she did just that! The next morning around 10:00/10:30 I went to Midas to check the status and spoke with Perk. His response was "you broke it". I asked what the solution was, and he said, "open heart surgery". I have absolutely no idea what that means in reference to a vehicle. I asked if he could break it down in Layman's terms for clarity. He went on to say it's internal and they will have to go in the engine and mentioned something about the timing chain. I asked if that was something that Midas could do. His response was that he had a technician that could do the work but would have to get authorization from Rob (the owner) because it is time consuming. He then went on to say the car will not start and they cannot do a diagnostic test since the car won't start. I told him he should have led with that and that I cannot do his sarcasm and asked to speak with the owner. How did you come up with open heart surgery and a timing chain when a diagnostic test hasn't been performed? As I'm leaving, I see Sherry and requested that she contact me with an update as opposed to Perk. She agreed. She called me about an hour (11:41am) later and said a diagnostic test would need to be done to see what the code is and that it would take a while and would be a $130 charge. The check engine light was never on so there was no code to be read. Around 5:00pm I called to check the status and again spoke with Perk. He said the part had just arrived. What part? I was never informed of anything but now the part has arrived? Being a customer for 15+ plus years I had always been called to inform me of the issue to include a price and asked if I wanted to proceed. This was not done. I called again early Saturday morning and was told that the part (Kam Shaft sensor) was changed; however, the car still would not start. Perk said I needed a timing chain. I asked if the timing chain and timing belt were the same. He said yes and I then asked the cost. He said he would write up an estimate and let me know. I then went up there. I asked if he had worked up the estimate. He responded with a sarcastic response per usual. Needless to say, he did not have the estimate. I asked him if the car would start and he said he didn't know. I then told him that if the car will start, I was going to pay for the diagnostic test and leave, if not, I was going to have it towed. The car did not start, and I called a tow truck. The tow truck driver called when he arrived and asked, "what is wrong with that dude?". I told the tow truck driver there is a breakdown in communication, and he responded, I can see. The tow truck driver then repeated what Perk said to him which was, "I'm done with that lady. I don't have the key. I'm done with her." Now unless something happened that I was not aware of, how are you done with me? This is not your place of business. You do not have the authority to make that call. I ended up having the car towed to the dealership. I showed the dealership the paperwork that I received from Midas and told them what I was told. The dealership stated the part was NOT changed. The mechanic showed me where the part was housed and said the bolts had never been removed. The mechanic showed me a bolt that had been previously removed and said there would be some markings around the bolt; however, the bolt where the part was housed had never been removed. Midas did not change the part. I called to speak to the owner (Robert) twice. I ended up speaking with the Manager Frank each time. To this day over a month later, still no contact from the owner. I have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment and have referred numerous people. I wasn't even offered enough respect for the owners to engage in a conversation with me. The final result from another mechanic was the car needed a starter. Needless to say, I will not be patronizing Midas in College Park, Georgia again nor will I ever refer anyone. As a matter of fact, I will deter anyone from getting their vehicle serviced here. Midas' motto is "The car care industry is full of B.S. We're putting an end to it". I called the day prior to make sure they had the tools to work on my car and at first the owner was very professional and advised me to not come in that day. Instead he said to be there early they open at 8am . I arrived at 7:50 the mechanics were working on vehicles from prior days but the owner who works the front desk arrived late and then sat in the back drinking a Red Bull and smoking a cigarette didn't address me or the other customers about being late and had us standing in the sun . I decided at 8:50 to call around and see other options . I left at 9am a whole hr after scheduled hrs of operations and he still hadn't open the doors . I decided to leave . Completely unprofessional and inconsiderate . I would NOT recommend the location to anyone . The only reason I gave it two stars is because the employees where there on time. read more

Shame on you MIDAS, for having such bad rep at this location. If I could give zero stars I would. Do not come to this place, one word that come lactose mind, DISHONESTY! The wonder boy that owns this shop, Robert, is a completely dishonest guy. The mechanic that works there, a young fellow, smokes cigarettes inside the bay while he works on your cars, and looks like a drug addicted. I wanted to get some preventative maintenance done on my car, nothing was broken, Time was coming up on changing the timing belt and water pump on my car at 120,000 mile service, I wanted to make sure my car is not one of those pt cruisers you see on the side road with a broken timing belt. It's a challenge job on my car, due to the lack of Space on my 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, a notoriously hard job to do. I was calling up a few places to see who will be willing to do the work. Robert was very nice and took my car in, I had another shop quote me for work $500, however I wasn't able to get the job done there in time. Robert at Midas, instead of quoting me how many hours it would take, just quoted me flat price of $1000 for this fix. I decided to go with them. I was out of town for two weeks. A week into it, Robert calls me tells me there's some other parts they can fix, for preventative maintenance, it's an additional $700 for parts and labor, the total is now over $1700. Once the work was completed, my wife picked up the car since I was out of town. Robert is the owner of the shop. When I finally get home, I turn the car on, and it's making a scraping noise, a loose accessory belt tensioner pulley noise, a plastic cover in the bottom not attached, that should have been obviously attached, and parts on the top of the engine not secured. I did not have this noise when I took the car in. When I come down to the shop. After getting me on a credit card and $1700, we find out another part was broke, that was easy to fix when they had the car apart, that now this nice guy owner, Turning not so nice, Robert is now not willing to fix! What a piece of work, took $1700, created an extra problem and when the time came to fix another part, cited my demeanor for not willing to do the work. I just wanted my car fixed and done right! Stay away from strung out drug addict mechanics. Let me ask the reader a question, when you take a car in for preventative work, and then you pick it up? Would you expect the car to not make any extra noises and for the shop that keeps quoting "INTEGRITY", to stand behind their work? Well this place didn't, I am sorry I took it there in the first place. Bad service! Save your money and go somewhere else, the owner is only after getting you on a credit card and getting you on the hook for a high value labor/part. Not for integrity driven work with people that know what they are doing. Don't let the owner's nice demeanor fool you into making a bad decision! Had a brand new code reader sitting on my passenger seat when I went in to get a part changed. When I left this establishment to go grab some food, I noticed in the drive in line that instead of my brand new code reader, there was an old dingy one pieced together with electrical tape in its stead. Called the shop and asked them to find mine, they instead took theirs back and searched my car pretending that I had misplaced it. Walking in I was greeted with a smile, working in the hospitality industry myself being greeted is such a huge thing for me. Christian, the manager, was amazing such an amazing individual. He told me right then and there what the issue was with my car and the resolution. I left my car and picked it up a few hours later, once they called me. Thanks for pulling a fast one. I will never go to any Midas again after this episode. My car had midas brakes with lifetime warranty on the pads and this Midas location still charged me money to inspect my brakes. What is the warranty good for anyway? Oh well lesson learnt. After this episode, I did my research and I realized it is way cheaper to purchase the brake pads and rotors online (brakemotive) and have a mobile mechanic come to your house/office and replace them. I got the brakes and rotors replaced for under $230 (both front and rear). I am extremely grateful for the bad experience - you helped me find a better more cost effective way. About a week ago I got my tires rotated and balanced at this location. I was told that one of my rims were slightly bent. When I left I still felt a little vibration but when I got to high speeds the car shook uncontrollably. I took the car back a few day's later talked to Bob the owner . I wasn't upset or anything " said hi Me Bob I got tires rotated and balanced few days ago and it's still riding rough can you check it out for me"? Was told well you left her it was good now it's not? I said no it was vibrating and when I got up in speed it's shakes really bad. He told me well you know your rim bent I continued to ask can you just check it for me. The took one tire off and said it's cause your rim bent . I asked well was the other tires out of balance I was told we check them and they are fine and the car had to previously ride like that. Well I left and the care still rode the same so I took it to Mavis tire on Sunday and found out only one of my tires was balanced and the weights were completely wrong either way to much weight on the tires or no weight at all. Also the tire that was supposed to be bent wasn't bent at all . After two mins I'm on balancing that tire he said it's something inside this tire maybe some water or something causing it to spin wrong. He took tire off and found it indeed had something in it. Now it took the time to make sure everything was done right instead of putting 30 weights on one tire. The shop joked about how they had never seen a balancing job done so wrong . When I left Mavis my car rode smooth as ever!! I called Midas on Monday and told them that my tires were not balanced as I was told by them and I have video and pics to show to prove it . Bob told me well just come get you money back so we can be done with this. I went Monday and spoke with Robbie (Bob's son) I have him the receipt and he asked for my card informed him that I forgot it he immediately tossed my receipt back at me and said you paid with a card I need the card to do refund. I kinda of looked at the receipt that was tossed at me kind of upset and was thinking I'm a customer to be tossed anything is disrespectful. I left I didn't say anything so the following day I came back with my receipt and waiting at the counter. Robbie came up to the register ask did I have the card I said yes have him the card now not one time was I rude , upset , or said anything to him or his father out of the way. Well he ran the refund and was mumbling under his breath I asked him was he talking to me he ignored me. Once he did refund he told me ok I won't waste anymore of your time I would like it if you don't waste any of mine!!! It was said so rude !! I asked him do you upset cause you told me you performed work that you really didn't do or did it so poorly that my car rode horribly! That was the worst customer service and disrespect as a paying customer I've ever received!! I don't recommend you taking any of your business to this Midas location!! If you NEED your car within hours of being fixed DONT take it here! Took my car on Monday for a water pump job was told by SHERRY it would be a 6hr job and would most likely get it back Tuesday morning... That didn't happen went Tuesday just to be told the part came in late. Then called Wednesday to be told by BOB it would be ready at 12 just to wait a extra 2 hours before calling to be told its not ready then later ROBERT calls to stat it's the timing belt and not running smoothly and should be ready Thursday morning. UPDATE WENT THURSDAY AND CAR IS STILL NOT READY... NOW ROBERT JOHNSON STATED IT COULD BE A WHOLE DIFFERENT REASONING OF THE ISSUE OF CAR! I NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED. read more

I generally only like to leave reviews when I have nice things to say because I feel that people are quicker to complain than compliment and I'd like to change that. However, as much as it pains me to do so, I must leave this review because quite frankly, I am tired of being ripped off by places like this Midas. I am a woman and perhaps that makes me an "easy target" for car maintenance and repair. But I do not appreciate being treated like I'm stupid. This past Saturday, I went in because my Check Engine Light was illuminated on my 2003 Honda Accord. I told Rob that I needed an oil changed and I wanted to see about whatever the cause of the CEL. They completed the oil change and then Rob informed me that my car needed a new "Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor" and that it "wasn't that bad actually....with parts and labor only $519." He was quoting me at $399 for the part. He explains to me what the part is and why it needs to be replaced. I sit back down and do some research while I'm waiting for my car to be pulled back into the garage. From what I can tell online, there are places selling the same part from $117 - $175. I take the highest priced on to him and ask if that's the same part they are replacing in my car. He says, "something similar, yeah". I ask him the justification for the drastically different price. He explains that what I'm finding online are cheap Chinese parts whereas what he is getting for me is a genuine Honda part. He tells me that customers come in all the time with a these cheap parts, and he replaces them, and then they come back in a month or two needing the same work done because the part was cheap. i sit back down to mull this over for a second and then I ask him if I buy the part elsewhere, would they install it? He said,no, they only install their part. But he had JUST told me that he's done this time and time again. So which is it? I told him I'd take a pass on this and he was visibly upset and rushing me (though he said it all with a smile on his face). I have two cars and I am a loyal customer, if you treat me right I also recommend businesses that I can stand behind. The way I was just played in simply unacceptable. I understand SOME markup because Midas has overhead and also they want to make a profit. But when the markup is beyond justification, I know I need to take my business elsewhere. That's the last time that Midas will see me or either one of my cars. You are the reason why mechanics have a bad reputation!!! read more

Poorly serviced and ripped off. I went to this place on 6/27/17 to get a wheel alignment performed on my 2005 Nissan Quest. After a long wait, I was finally called at the front desk. When I got there, I was explained that I need to remove and replace my wheel bearings ($453.99 including $234 labor), remove and replace both front control arms ($499.99 including $260.00 labor), alignment which I went to the shop for was $59.99. My total including tax and shop supply came up to $1092.13. I told to the attendant that I could not afford that and I asked him the following specific question: "Are you saying that if I don't fix all of the above the alignment can't be done?" He answered: "the alignment will be better event if I don't fix all of the above." Based on that answer I went ahead and asked them to do the alignment, I paid and left. Back to my work place, I asked our mechanic to drive test my car. What a surprise! The mechanic got back and told me that the car is bearing right which is a proof that the alignment wasn't done right. I called them right away, and was told to bring the car back today. When I got there, and after arguing with someone who seems to the manager, he said that all he can do is give me a $59.99 credit I can use toward fixing the control arms and that was it. Since I don't want to use this shop anymore, this probably means a loss of $59.99 for me. This is a very poor service, and a rip off as someone should've told me since the beginning that no alignment will be performed until I fix the wheel bearings and the control arms. Their duty should not be taking people's money by any means, but also provide good advice to customers who trust them with their vehicles. read more

Excellent, friendly service. I drove in to this Midas location about two weeks ago to have my tire serviced due to a suspected air leak. I took my seat and waited about 15 minutes.. It's not a very lengthy repair job. Later, a worker handed me my keys and said, "thank you for stopping by, it was an easy fix, no charge. Please come by again for your future service needs." I mostly likely will be stopping by, because of this remarkable service. Thank you! read more

Well what can I say? I've had an oil change done before. The next time I go they say they can't do it. Oh well, garages are a dime a dozen.

I went in for for an oil change and received superb service, not to mention the guy behind the front desk was extremely nice! My car was given a simple inspection and I was immediately notified about my windshield wipers that were worn out and my tire was over inflated in which I received new wiper blades and some air was let out of my tire. I will recommend Midas to my family and friends and most definitely will be returning for service on my car. read more
