Boyd tire was recommended by a friend of mine. I assumed by the name that they only do tires but no...they do almost everything. My battery light came on as I got to work near by and I didn't want to get stuck so I gave them a call. They were able to take care of it while I was at work, and the price was reasonable. Very very impressed with the work they do. Not once have I ever seen a tire shop actually torque to spec lug nuts. It's usually one and done with an impact but here they tighten them snug with an impact and finish off with the torque wrench. I had had the fortunate/unfortunate pleasure of working with Boyd on many occasions now. From anything as small as tire pressure all the way to tire replacement, Boyd is my go-to place! Most recently I encountered a nail on my way to work. I didn't realize until I had parked at work that the tire had deflated so I very carefully made my way over. I left my car and walked to my office. When I checked in I was warmly greeted (which is always the case here). Once my account was pulled up I was ready to go. To make things even better I was offered a ride to my office (way above and beyond even though I refused). I got a phone call shortly thereafter that my tire was a goner. The nail had punctured and collapsed the sidewall. I was given many options to choose from including the best option to match my current product. This was after they did everything to find my discontinued tire to no avail. The work was done near-immediate, affordable and impeccably done. I continue to be impressed by this place. Having recently relocated to GA (driving cross country on my old bucket) I immediately began scouting for reliable mechanic you can trust. My first visit to dud in ellenwood didn't go to well. Wasn't trying to go back. I had repeatedly been seeing this place in Hapeville. A tire place that looked professional enough. Got a good vibe from em so I decided to get some tires. I was very pleased by every aspect of that experience that I decided to inquire with the mechanic, Ronnie. An older gentleman, who knew what I was trying to tell him was the prob even when I said the wrong thing. Intake runner stuck open..."yea that's it". Fast forward two months later and it's time for renewal of registration. With check engine light on, I fail emission. So I hurry to Ronnie for the fix. Have to wait a week for appointment. Cause they're that good and busy. Needless to say he fixed the issue. Wasn't cheap, but by no means do I feel overcharged. So now i no longer have the stress of finding a mechanic. While leaving a sales conference, I noticed I had a flat tire. I was able to pump it up, and upon a suggestion from a fellow sales rep, who recommended that I go to Boyd Tire, I was able to make it to the shop. George was quick to get my car in and remove my tire. I had ran over a sharp piece of metal and the damage was too much to repair. George showed me the inside of the tire to verify the damage. George selected a replacement tire to get me home which was 130 miles away. Before taking my car to Boyd Tire my breaks started squeaking. I had had no other issues with the car in the 4 years I drove it. At this point I've had to get 3 break jobs in 10 months. The first 2 were with Boyd Tire and the most recent one was with the dealership. I spoke with George, the owner of Boyd Tire, to let him know according to the dealership inferior work was performed by Boyd. The result was that I had to pay for 2 break jobs that I shouldn't have. George took no responsibility for the his company or staff, made no attempt to correct the issue and had no interest in speaking with the dealership currently working on the breaks. I'm extremely unhappy with my experience with the owner of this company. He didn't care or seem to be shocked in the slightest that inferior work was done. After my experiences with this company I've started to wonder if the positive reviews they've received are real. read more

I had a breakdown while traveling thru Atlanta - a heater hose broke in my 2001 Chevy truck- and I came in first thing in the morning after sleeping overnight in my truck. Cold engine. Told them my predicament, asked if they could get me on my way quickly if possible. Foreman took a few minutes to diagnose my problem, then announced that "GM uses a special fitting on their heater hoses. Takes a special tool to remove it, which we don't have. We'll have to cut it off. It's a 5-6 hour job. You're looking at around $650." I explained that the outtake hose had broken the previous summer (the intake hose was now broken)and a garage in Delaware fixed it for $64, and that $650 was not an option. "Huh. Well, we could just bypass it and connect the two hoses instead of cutting that fitting off. You could drive it home, but your heater won't work." Being May, I took that risk. They got me on the road by cutting the good hose and joining it to the broken one, then refilling my radiator with water. Total cost, $109 and a couple of hours. Not bad... ...until I got home and saw that the "special tool" is a $6 part available at any parts store. I bought one (it's reusable), removed and replaced the good after-market hose connector the Delaware shop had replaced without comment, removed and replaced the freshly broken one, and bought replacement hose to replace the one these guys cut in pieces. Total time for me, a non-mechanic, to do the repair- 20 minutes for both hoses. I found the cut hose pieces still laying in my engine compartment where it's lucky they didn't drop into my fan belt assembly. All in all, I find it irregular that a shop in business for 40 years hasn't managed to purchase a $6 GM heater hose quick disconnect, and even odder that they would tell me this was a 5-6 hour job. I think they were trying to prey on a traveler in distress. I can imagine the talk after I drove away..."Well, it was worth a shot. I thought he was gonna go for it there. At least we got him for a hundred bucks for a hose connector. Now, whose next?" read more

Good locally owned all in one tire/tuneup place. They're not the cheapest, but I think they're fair and honest.

I always take my mom's old Ford to them every year to have it serviced. They will take you back home and as soon as the work is complete they will come and pick me up to go back to their store and pay them and pick up the car that they have just serviced. They have competent mechanics that are good at diagnostic test and inturppting them. They also have excellent tire prices on any name brand tire. They also have been very good at providing warranty work or replacement on what they sell or on their mechanical work. read more

I just remembered these guys! About two years ago now I bought a set of tires for my lady's car as a surprise, I had a friend at a tire dealer at the time but nowhere to get them installed easily without her figuring out the plan. She was working in East Point so I googled tire places locally and Boyd was the first to come up. Good reviews online so I called and discussed my plan to bring the tires by to drop off, then bring the car back soon after for installation and balancing. They were extremely courteous over the phone and obliged my every request with ease, arranging for me to come down on a day that met everyone's schedule. On the day in question I dropped the tires off and dealt with what must have been one of the Boyd family members, very professional and very polite, helped me unload the tires and set them aside for later and discussed what they would do as well as give me a few options, but nothing was pushed on me, he was fine with just making the sale he had. The place is easy to find with good signage and in a busy section so there's plenty of food places within walking distance. Parking is ample and easy to access. I brought her car right back after stopping by her office to 'borrow' it (she had no idea) and they pulled it right in to get working. The time estimate I got was fair without exaggerating and I went on in to the large waiting area to hang out. There's couches and chairs, a TV, plenty of magazines of all types, and vending machines close by as well. The lounge overlooks the shop so you can follow your car's progress without being in the way too. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. After getting it done I was called to the cashier who went over everything with me again to verify I was happy, and Boyd, or the man I was calling Boyd, gave me a polite thank you as well. Super friendly, honest, and professional people. My lady no longer works nearby or I'd keep going back to them for tire work, they truly are good people. read more

Took my car in for an A/C repair. People seemed nice, work appears to have been done well. Labor costs seemed to be quite excessive, though, even considering what mechanics' rates usually run. I was very disappointed with the service but outraged by the customer service. I brought my car in for routine service and was quoted a price three times higher than just taking it to the dealership. I told "Ronnie" that I would take my business elsewhere. I had my wife Uber over to pick up the car as I was at the office and they tried to charge us $100 for the inspection. She protested the fee and a shouting match ensued. The service technicians and the cashier ganged up on her insisting that they were owed the $100.
