I've been wanting to write this review for some time now. They were very nice and recommended all the services my truck actually needed, and not more. The thing was they recommended I have my tires balanced with the Oil Change/rotation and I didn't. Lo and behold, while driving down the road, I discovered that that was needed and I had to take it somewhere to have THAT done, a month after I'd just had it on the rack at Benefield. The lady was nice and communicative about what was going on, and they even did it near closing time on a weekend. I would update the waiting room ambiance to compete with a lot of newer shops out there, other than that, no complaints. read more

They completely forgot about me. I left my car there for nearly 2 weeks. Not a call back. Nothing. I left 5 voicemails and even a help email from their website. Not a word. I don't recommend at all. The lady that works the desk is great though very nice. read more

Took my car for an alignment. took them 4 days to do that and it wasn't done right, my steering wheel was side ways, the mechanics don't give a shit i've seen how they park peoples cars, they literally try to mess up your transmission because they reverse it move forward over and over again when trying to park it. caught them. read more

The owner Doug is a compulsive liar. He has been ripping people off and they are not professional at all. I paid $3800 for just a water leak and left a major oil leak I never had. Took it back to get oil leak repaired and was charged again. Listen, my car is still undrivable because of this place. It needs to be boycotted out of business. They are always friendly, quick to respond if they say they will call back, and I never feel like I'm getting ripped off. Recently I got a quote for a repair from a Pep Boys for $525, but Benefield did it for $150. read more

My daughters car was completely dry when I checked the oil level in her car and discovered the the stick showed no oil! I kind of panicked and stopped at a gas station to buy several bottles of oil and put them all in. Five in total. Needless to say I put way more oil than I should have so I googled the closest oil change place and found Benefield automotive. They were extremely busy but took the time to drain my oil and actually were able to use the same oil (which was awesome as it was very expensive synthetic Castrol oil). My car is running great now. I was very impressed with them taking care of me at the last minute, stopping what they were doing to fix my problem. Been going here for about 5 years just because its close to home however, they are not efficient at all. They will keep your vehicle much longer than they tell you and they won't communicate this with you. Their actual work is decent at best but not worth the overpricing/hassle. Company seems to value fleet work over regular customers and it shows in their customer service. I would avoid unless you really dont need your car. read more

These people were just great. I could tell you a long story about an interrupted journey and storing my car for two years in a city 3,000 miles from home after a 13,000 mile trip seeing the US, but you'd be bored. I had my elderly (but still very capable) Tahoe towed in. I kind of hoped to resume the adventure. Fair price, lightening fast service, I was back on the road less than 24 hours after I had it towed there. No up sell at all. Thanks from Savannah, we are headed for Clearwater tomorrow. I'll keep it simple. Very rude people. This establishment is not for the general public it's for corporate fleet service. Asked about an oil change. They said sure. I asked were do we park the car. The woman at the counter said anywhere you can find a space. There were zero spaces because of all the airport hotel vans. Wife pulled backup to the building long enough for me to ask again were to park. I'm not out of the passenger door and a mechanic comes out and screams that we are blocking in the truck he was working on. His tools were still in his hands, hood up and a fender guard still in place. The truck was nowhere near pulling out and he didn't give us time to ask him about parking before he started yelling. So we left. I've waited one month to post this so there would be no anger in this review and there isn't. Benefields auto just isn't for regular hard working people. read more

I have a habit of prematurely falling in love with places only to have to kick myself later. Lots of times I've ended up disappointed with a place after the initial positive experience. So I waited to rate Benefields Automotive, half expecting them to disappoint as well. They haven't. For starters, the customer service at this auto shop is stellar! I don't mean the "we'll be nice to lure you into spending a ridiculous amount for repairs" kind of nice either; they've been very consistent and I realized just how much so when I ended up sitting next to a couple who had been taking their car there for over 20 years! They honestly have some of the best rates around, and I've never been pressured into getting work done before I was ready. Granted, my wallet has decided that I haven't been ready so far but I appreciate how they tell you what's wrong and the time frame in which you have to fix it. They're first come, first served so they don't do appointments and its best to get there early in the morning and during the week. They have a TV and coffee, magazines, wifi and there's a little store/diner in the next lot so if you have to wait with your vehicle its not a total hassle. After having them diagnose my car issues and seeing how consistent they've been, I think it's safe to say that Benefield's really will my spot to take my car! read more

My check engine light was one. Found one of my problems was a thermostat repair. Took 3 weeks total for everything. They screen phone calls and leave u on hold for long periods. Had to leave vm, still not calling back. It's ridiculous and the prices are too high. Plus I had to take my car back because it started overheating. No answer again. I recently had some work done on my car at your repair center. Normally I am satisfied with the service I receive from you. However, this time I am not so satisfied. I was charged close to $400 for an alternator + labor costs for my 2010 Dodge Avenger. Come to find out, I called a Dodge dealer and the same alternator from them would have cost me $260. Now you may say that may have been a generic price and not accurate. But when I inquired about the alternator with the service department, I provided my VIN so that the correct part was discussed. So I am inclined to think that either your parts supplier or you are inflating your prices for parts. I am now questioning the previous repairs that have been performed not only on my car but other cars I have brought there. While I enjoy your prompt service, I will have to reconsider my future decisions when it comes to auto repairs. read more

If I could give them a negative I would. After waiting for over a hour for a simple oil change, after being told there was no wait but it would take about 20 minutes, no one called me back. I was hung up on when I called to check the status. When I got back to the shop no one had even touched my truck. It was sitting in the same spot...in front of the empty bay. I got there around 3:15. I went back at 4:30. I'm not sure how good the mechanic service is but their customer service is deplorable. I'd rather take it back to Dunwoody, be over charged (maybe), but get great service. read more

When my tire pressure light came on while driving to the airport I was perplexed. Weren't my tires new and wonderful? I pulled into the cell phone lot and, sure enough, I had been unwittingly participating in that great Atlanta tradition: running over a roofing nail. It was just after 4 p.m. I looked for the closest tire shop but they were booked up and closing at 5. They recommended Benefield. Not only did the folks there take care of me immediately, their fee was nominal -- much less than I've been charged at Goodyear. I can't speak to full-on auto repairs, but for an emergency tire patch, I'll be forever thankful to Benefield. Nice, helpful folks. read more

My goodness the worst mechanic shop in the world. you are guaranteed to leave the shop with something else broken they wouldn't let you know about. Apparently Russ and Lori would NEVER break anything, when Doug (store manager) is out of town for weeks how would he know? It irritates me that I get done paying a $400 bill and now something else is broken. You can forget about talking to Doug because all he throws out are scenarios that have nothing in relation to your scenario. This is one of those companies that needs to go down in the ground. This company is going no where. Basic oil change shops can do better than this shop. read more

So here we are at day 4 and counting i am attempt to correct an issue that probably would have only taken a few hours, 1 day max had I gone to the dealership. I dropped my car off when they opened at 7am which btw, this is the 3rd time in 3 days I have had to return my car to this place for them to address the same issue! Not good Benefield! I left my car with them to work on while I went to work. I also left my phone number for them to call me with updates about the maintenance progres on my vehicle. 10 am...no update. 11am...no update. 1pm....STILL no update! 3pm...no update!!! Keep in kind that they close at 6pm and I need my car so I called them. Car still not ready but Im told it is sitting there waiting for an okay from me for them to proceed. I get that I should have called earlier but I was curious to see if they would follow through like they said they would BUT they did not. It would have been nice had someone called as I requested and is customary but no one called to ask for my permission to perform a test I was not aware that I needed but wait a minute...I did leave my number so what happened to the communication? Not good! So I give them permission to go ahead, they say they will "jump right on it and call back to update me" but 6pm (closing time) and you guessed it....STILL NO UPDATE!! They keep the car leaving me stranded with no way to work effectively losing MORE money! So at this point, the 3 stars they earned initially have been reduced to 0. Moral of the story is...... you get what you pay for because while the repair costs may have been SLIGHTLY LESS EXPENSIVE; they still A.) marked up the cost of the parts by about 100% to justify overcharging, B.) reneged or failed to offer the discount they so proudly proclaim on their website, C.) failed to communicate updates in a timely manner, D.) couldn't seem to get it together to correct the issue, E.) left me stranded and F.) are now causing me to LOSE money from work by taking time to repeatedly deal with this when it should have been PROPERLY addressed at the 1st visit! Had I gone to the dealership, I certainly would have paid more money but the issues I have experienced here with Benefield would NOT have been an issue at the "stealership". But wait a minute.......they STILL didn't repair my car!!! NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!!! read more

This was the best experience I have ever had at an automotive place. First of all they stayed open to help me out as I had an issue with my car and it was getting close to closing time. They said over the phone they would get the necessary supplies ready for me so they could get started rift away when I arrived. They were very helpful and went above and beyond the normal expectations when I had a personal issue and helped me out with that as well. They were super friendly and helpful and got me out of there so fast I literally was shocked when they said my car was ready. I had blown two tires and was ready to go in less than an hour with tires alignment and balancing. I will definitely spread the word and will come back. read more

***RIPOFF. Took my recently purchased used vehicle in and asked them to "look it over with a fine tooth comb and tell me everything that I may need to fix." I also asked them to "check the timing belt." After 3 hours, I get a call. The lady says, "your car is ready, it needs an air filter." I asked her about the timing belt and she said "they couldn't check that." I then asked if they put it on the computer and she again said they "didn't do that." So I asked what they did do...She said, "We checked the tires, hoses, headlights and underneath." So, for $46 they did nothing I asked them to do. They did look to make sure my headlights were working, just in case i am a huge idiot! They didn't care that i was unhappy and gladly took my money for having done NOTHING! Stay away. read more

These people are crooks. After doing nothing more than popping the hood and reading a number on my battery, they charged a $95 fee. I did not sign anything nor agree to anything before hand. I was not made aware of this charge and that it simply bad business. I have been using Benfield for about a year to service my vehicles. The receptionist is very nice. The manager of their service is constantly trying to run up my bills using any deception or our right false statement he can conjure up. Do you home work before you used this location. Specifically I need and alternator for my Jaguar. I brought my own part form NAPPA. They called me and said the part did not fit. They wanted to get one from there guy. The replacement I purchased was the right part and it cost $180. They part they want to install coast me over $400. Because I had no choice at this point I agreed to pay the additional coast. I spoke by phone with the service manager and Ii asked him specially if the core chard was included in the $400 dollar price and he said yes everything is included. When I arrived to pick up my care I asked them where id my old alternator, I want it back. The service manager then began to stutter and said you have to pay for you old alternator. I said you told me the core charged was included in the 400 dollars. Then he began to may nonsensical statements that were contradictory and false. The alternator that they sold me was not listed on my receipt. No name bran no warranty information. I asked why this information not on the service record is and what the warranty is. The receptionist then left went somewhere, came back and said you have a 12000 mile warranty on the alternator. She said if you want your old alternator you will have to pay an additional $65.00 dollars. I was cheated out of my alternator and the alternator I purchased was an exact fit. read more

Not honest at all. Every time I go, they try to sell me unnecessary service. I usually just decline and only get what I need. Most recently, they held my car for 4 days and didn't even look at it. They told me they could program the computer module for my car, so I left it on a Thursday morning. Friday comes around and I had to call them in the afternoon to see what was going on. They said they were having problems programming the computer and it would be ready the next day. They did NOT tell me they were closed Saturday and Sunday. Monday comes around and again, I had to call them. Only to find out they hadn't even touched my car. So they lied. Next time, just give the customer a realistic time line, and If you can't do the job, just say that instead of wasting the customer's time. read more
