I have had to file a BBB complaint, which was closed and no resolution. I was informed to take my truck back to Midas so they can look at it "again". At this point I don't trust "any" Midas locations. My truck is driving worse than it was before I took it to Midas. I am out of $2700 & still have to find a "new" mechanic to fix my vehicle "right", unfair. Some mechanics try to take advantage of women. The BBB complaint was closed, no resolution. The finance company "SNAP" has initiated a dispute on my behalf. I should not have to pay back over $2700 plus and my vehicle is still not repaired properly. I have also had to hire an Attorney because of this situation. The owner did try to call me a few times and I tried calling him as well, never spoke to him. This has added more stress to my life, I am already going through bereavement losing a parent recently. read more

The mechanics a joke . I wouldn't trust them to change a light bulb . My steering is horrible and all they did is throw parts at it . When the end result is the whole power steering going out . Wouldn't you fix that to start smh . Stick to changing oil and light bulbs because the mechanics horrible and The lady that works at the desks and answers the phone attitude sucks . They just take your money and don't fix your car. I took my car to them for an oil change. It was leaking coolant so they quoted me over a grand to fix the leak. I got my car back and it was still leaking coolant, so i gave them a call and they said that they had not put a hose on correctly but they would take care of it. It was still leaking coolant, so i took it back a third time. They said it was the coolant tank and some other things gave me another quote for another grand. I ended up taking it to one of the local mechanics for a brake change and he took one look at it and immediately told me where the leak was. He fixed it for me for less than a grand. A week ago I was traveling through the area and had an issue with one of my tires. They were able to fit me in rather quickly, which was amazing and had my car on the lift within 10 minutes of the appointment time. They fixed the problem and I was on my way in a very timely manner. Tim, the manager, could not have been nicer and more professional. And my apologies to the mechanic as I don't have his name, but he too was the same. He explained and showed me the problem and the solution!! I would highly recommend this place based not only on their employees but the fact that I was a non-mechanic female (lol), traveling through and needing my car fixed... they could have worked me over financially, but they didn't. That speaks volumes to me about what kind of business they run. If I lived in Columbia, this is where I would take my car. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I absolutely would. Not only did they cost me almost $1000 on (not) fixing an oil leak on my Jeep Wrangler, costing me another $900 after their shop, but I gave them another chance with my boyfriends 1991 Mazda pick up truck. They fixed a hose for free and did a pressure test, swearing the truck would not over heat again. I asked for them to look over EVERYTHING and be sure it wouldn't over heat any more, telling them I would pay more for them to do diagnostics and everything else. What do you know? The truck over heated the same day. Took it back today and they charge us $113 to flush the radiator out, and THEN tell us we need to buy a new radiator. Unless you have a plethora of money to throw away, do not take your vehicle here. Absolutely HORRIBLE read more

Car stolen from Midas location at 121 Harbison Blvd, Columbia, SC 29212 (Midas is part of the Palmetto Garage Works' group) The technicians allowed my Fiance's car to be stolen from their parking lot. We asked that the keys be left in the car and the car be locked, as we would bring the spare key. Midas employees reassured us that everything was fine and that the car would be under video surveillance. We were disappointed to find that Midas employees did not lock the car and the vehicle was stolen. Video surveillance footage has been denied to us by Midas but was offered to the police who showed us that clearly, Midas' employees did not lock the car. The car was located 2 days later, and everything from inside was missing that was not attached. We had ~$600 of work done to the car. The contents of the car included a variety of things, but ultimately, the most important of the items was our garage door opener and the key FOB for the car, as well as our address and pertinent information relating to a variety of personal things. The car was located a couple of days later on a road near the Midas location. The peace of mind we have lost cannot be measured, but ultimately, we asked that Midas replace the items stolen from the car and as a show of good faith, reimburse us for the work completed. The total of this would have been around a $1300 cost to their Business. They offered us $800 and to sign a form that would completely release them, Palmetto Garage Works, from liability. Now, someone still has our garage door opener and our Key FOB. Though we have reprogrammed the garage door, and are awaiting the KEY FOB reprogramming, we are still concerned and it has caused a lot of stress. The car smells of smoke as well and am sure that will go away, but it's just a reminder of what happened, every day. It has created a distrust that will take time to get over and now, Midas has completely blown it with their answer to our concerns. read more

Always have a pleasant experience here. I have had my oil changed on three different cars the last few years. They always have coupons and provide great customer service! Most recently I had an appointment that upon arriving to they asked me to reschedule due to being low on staff. The manager offered me a reschedule and gave me a complimentary oil change coupon. Furthermore when I came in and found out I needed synthetic oil, he even honored the coupon. They checked my tires, filled the air, and let me know of an issue I need to take up with my warranty. I starting using this Midas location thinking they would be my go to place for service on my car and truck, and made it clear to them these were my intentions. The problem I have it that they didn't do the work I asked them to do. The last time I went there was to have my trucks power steering fluid changed and brake system flushed with new fluid. Unfortunately they didn't do either job... I watched them and from where I was it looked like they were doing something. Let me add this is work I could do myself but again I was looking for a shop to save me the trouble.... really all I wanted was to receive what I paid for, is that asking to much? So anyways when I got my truck home I checked the power steering fluid, it was dirty and low on fluid. I checked the brake fluid, it was dirty not so low, so I ended up doing the work myself. Worst case of bait and switch I have ever had. Their website advertised a full synthetic oil change for $49.99 and it cost me over $65. They also tried to sell me a new tire, then a wheel alignment. They said they did not have the equipment to reset the tire pressure monitoring system. I then ask the lady what the out the door price would be for my 96 Cadillac for the advertised $24.99 oil change. The lady told me they did not use conventional oil (not synthetic) oil any more and the cost she gave me was more than double of the $24.99 that was advertised. She blamed the confusion on Midas and they had asked Midas to stop advertising it that way. The discounts the lady gave me were totally not the same as the advertised discounted prices. She was saying the discounts were a dollar amount off their regular prices but that was never mentioned in the online discounts. It just shows me that you should not believe anything on their website at face value and you should expect that they will find reasons to sell you additional product or services. read more
