On January 14, 2026 I went to the location on Harbison Blvd. Called ahead to get a quote and check that they worked on BMW. Arrived, waited 40 minutes. When they were supposed to start, they informed me that they don't have the European oil needed. I sat in line 2 cars back and they didn't bother to check before making me wait or when I double checked they could do the oil change before waiting. Terrible service and management. read more

This place or at least this location has both its up and downs. I think that it's good for oil changes and tire rotations. Things that require more intensive mechanical work, then it's just ok. We had some work done and received two different prices for diagnostics from two different locations. This location had the higher price, but we decided to give them a shot since we've used them before. It took two visits to correct the problem and of course each visit meant more money. read more

A week ago I visited this location for an oil change. When I purchased my car 6 months ago it supposedly had fresh oil, but as I check my oil once a week, the oil looked dark and old. So, 3500 miles later went to this location for service. Nikki was my technician and did a great job explaining every step of the process. They replaced the oil with synthetic specialty variety and a week later the oil was clear, full, and fresh. They showed great integrity by replacing the old oil with the proper kind of oil specific to my vehicle. Totally recommended! read more

The management & most of the mechanics at this location have changed since the last time I was here in 2022. The new manager, Mack, lied to me, tried to sell more work than needed, and covered up negligence. My truck had a battery light on after I replaced the battery. I took it in to have the oil changed & find out why. I explained - truck has been sitting for a year. They suggested fuel injection service and a $20 "enhanced" inspection. I paid $191 for inspection, oil change & fuel injection service. They told me the light was on b/c I needed an alternator, quoted me $512 for parts & labor, said it would take 45 min. I came in next day before work to wait for that to be done. After 2.5 hours I asked questions -- I was then late to work. Mack said the 1st alternator was bad & they were waiting for another. 30 min. later, it's ready. But the bill was $593, including a $50 discount. And the battery light was still on. The mechanic said it was "probably the battery, so drive it & if the light stays on, have the battery replaced." I told him the battery is 3 days old; he said "If a new battery doesn't fix the light bring it back here." I asked Mack about the bill being higher. It was b/c they also replace the belt when they replace the alternator; the previous quote was wrong. So I paid and left -- I had to get to work. The battery light stayed on & I noticed I was charged for another $20 enhanced inspection. I called, asked what the diagnostic showed when they did that inspection since the mechanic said it's "probably" the battery. Mack assured me "It's definitely the battery." I took it to Advance where I bought the battery; their test showed the battery is fine & the problem is the alternator not charging it. Back to Express Oil -- Mack promised to refund the 2nd $20 enhanced inspection fee. They replaced the alternator again & called -- light was still on so they were going to "take a deep dive into the engine to see what the problem is." Two hours later Mack called with "happy" news -- an animal had chewed the wiring. I said I wanted to see the wiring & talk to him in person about an estimate. When I went there, I saw that the chewed wiring was right on top of the engine & obvious to a basic visual inspection, and anyone who replaced the alternator (3 times!) would have to put their hands directly on those wires. I took pictures. I calmly said that I was having trust issues with him because he lied to me about it being the battery but Mack ignored that and said "We should replace all the wiring because you don't know what else might be wrong." I said "No, everything else works fine. If it's not chewed, don't replace it." He was visibly disappointed and said he would have to find the part and then call me with an estimate. For the next week, every time I called them, they were "trying to find the part" which was discontinued (true but you can order it online). I asked for the part # so I could help look, they dodged my question with "there's no part number because it's a part of a part. No one has a usable one so far." So, I went to Pull-A-Part on Monticello Road, found the part needed, and brought it to Express Oil. Mack accepted it, as if I was his delivery girl, but he wasn't happy. He said no "thank you" or anything for bringing in the part he couldn't find, but said they would splice it in on Monday. They did & called me. When I got there, Mack met me with keys in hand before I came close to the door, nodded at my truck and said "No charge." He clearly wanted me to just get in my truck and leave. I have no paperwork on the wiring work, I wasn't refunded the bogus inspection charges, and I paid $593 for an alternator I didn't need. Mack never acknowledged their negligence, nor apologized for his lies. I've trusted this shop for years & referred friends here. I will never go back here and I don't know about other locations either. read more

We recently moved back to Columbia and started using express lube on Harbison Boulevard for all of our oil changes as well as repairs. These guys all know what they're doing, and they never charge me for something I don't need. They have done a fair amount of work on several of our cars that are over 15 years old and keep them running in top shape. Recommend them for oil changes and all types of repairs. They are very trustworthy and fair which is something you don't normally see in a lot of oil change and repair shops in my experience. read more

Prepare for this long review, I promise it's worth the read. I've given this place so many opportunities to keep me as a customer but I think this last time was my final straw. Last year I came in to get my oil changed, like I do routinely. I'm a 23 year old girl, I don't know how to do it myself. I do know that your skid plate shouldn't be dragging when you pull out of the parking lot. I called and drove back and they fixed it and apologized for their "oops". Fast forward to last August when I needed 4 brand new tires. I decided that some places make mistakes, and I would give them another shot. I left and had to come back immediately the next day as my dash was lit up like a Christmas tree with tire error lights. The guy in the tire department made me feel absolutely stupid for having to come back and it was an "easy fix". I wrote a negative review, Derek called me and I edited my review as he was apologetic and told me they valued me as a customer. Apparently I don't learn because I gave them yet ANOTHER chance this past Saturday when I needed another oil change. Everything seemed fine until the next day when I traveled 2 hours away and heard something dragging underneath of my car. Call me crazy, but naturally I'm going to assume this was something to do with them since I didn't have this problem before my oil change. I call and speak to Mack who tells me to bring it in (he immediately knew what kind of car I had which is so sad because I shouldn't be there THAT often). I bring it in, Mack calls me over in front of 5-6 men and embarrasses me by saying "I don't know how you drive, but you must have hit something. I don't know where you got the idea that it was your skid plate" and smirked. Perhaps I might be a little accusatory since it wouldn't have been the first time they messed something up on my car. This place is a joke. Not to mention on Saturday I got to witness two techs laughing about a customer and saying they weren't doing an oil change for them 15 minutes before they close. This was my second time here since I moved from NYC 4 months ago and I can honestly say their work is great! The staff is super friendly and helpful. This time I came in with a flat tire on my way to my kids music concert. I was totally panicking and about to cry because I didn't know how long it would take them to repair it. The guy at the entrance greeted me and I told him what happened and he proceeded to help me and get this fixed ASAP so I would make it to my sons concert on time! Alright you guys. I have an irrational fear of getting my oil changed, probably because I'm a young woman and I'm afraid of getting pressured to buy anything that I don't want. My car is also a little beat up, I love my car but people are judgmental. I went to the Sunset Blvd location and one of the mechanics made a comment about how I need to get the body of my car fixed. Yeah dude, I'm aware my car is messed up, I didn't ask for your opinion. The employees at this location are extremely respectful and they won't pressure you into getting anything that you do not need. There was a time in the past where I forgot my debit card, and I realized it after the service was complete. They let me drive off of the lot to the bank, because I'm a regular customer. The mechanics here are not professional. I call them thieves. My car was leaking oil. They kept my car for couple days, charged me 1293 dollars, and my car was still leaking. They told me that the leakage was fixed, and there was some oil left on parts, and it will stop leaking. I waited for couple days, and the leakage was increasing. They told me that they could diagnose my car properly first time, and demanded $800 more to fix the leakage. Be aware , there is a lack of good character. Thanks read more

Went in for a quick oil change. Once they got to my car, they were very quick about topping of the fluids, giving it an inspection, and showing me everything they found. Once everything is done, paid for, and I'm going to leave, all sorts of warning lights show up on my car. I point this out and they told me "It was like that when you drove in.". I assured them that was not the case. They called the mechanic over with the computer to run the checks, and he determines they had not reconnected an oxygen sensor. Received excellent customer service for an oil change by the assistant general manager. Was quoted several pricing options for new wipers (my right one had rubber coming off and I had been procrastinating that) and they put air in my tires. Got a full report of the goings on under the hood of my car and how long I should wait to do each maintenance for transmission, rotating tires. Felt satisfied with the amount of information I received. Deluxe oil change, and upgraded wipers for $75. They even put air in my tires for me. CONSUMER BEWARE...This location uses deceptive business practices to up charge. I went in for a standard oil change. The attendant told me that the charge for a standard oil change was $36. When the work was completed the technician presented me with a bill for $68. I asked why was the bill $68 when the attendant quoted $36. The technician proceeded to tell me that my car required synthetic oil. I told him I've had my oil changed many times even at the dealership and that it does not require synthetic oil. The technician then proceeded to tell me that he would replace the synthetic oil with standard oil but that it would void my warranty on my car. I told him to change it anyway because I wasn't paying $68 for an oil change. At that Point he proceeds to tell me that I will need to sign a waiver agreeing to put standard oil in my car. I told him to get the waiver and I would sign. He continued to state that I had to have synthetic oil in my car it was required. I told him I was paying $36 only and he just needed to do what he needed to do. Instead of presenting me with a waiver and replacing the synthetic oil with standard oil that he will just give me the synthetic oil for the standard price this time. Upon leaving I went to the Ford dealership and asked a Ford service technician if my car require synthetic oil. He said no it is not recommended. I told him what had happened. He chuckled then opened my hood and showed me my oil cap. The oil cap Clearly states the type of oil that is required for my car. It was standard oil not synthetic. In my opinion express oil had to have known the type of oil my car required, intentionally put in a more expensive oil and then lied when challenged. I would not go back to this location. I prefer to work with businesses who are honest. read more

First of all, I pulled in waiting for an attendant to come and tell me which bay area to wait in as two of the bay areas were already occupied and being worked on. After about 3 to 4 minutes of waiting someone from the tire service which is a completely different building came over and apologized and asked me to pull into the first bay area. I waited behind somebody having their car serviced for about 15 minutes all the while watching other bay areas being emptied and new services being pulled in and worked on immediately. None of the service attendance took the time to ask me to pull into one of the available bay area's or even acknowledge that I was there. After waiting for almost 25 minutes for no service at all I pulled out and drove away. Completely and utterly frustrated. read more

The guys at express oil change on Harbison Boulevard are amazing! I live in the Rosewood area and I still drive all the way over to the Harbison store to get my oil changed. It is the only place on Harbison Boulevard I do business because the traffic there is so bad. It's the only place worth going. Karl, Travis and Nick took great care of my Toyota Corolla today when I went in to get my oil changed. I also needed a new headlight and fluids. Karl told me that my air filter could have lasted longer without being changed and I appreciate his honesty. I chose to go ahead and get the air filter changed even though it still had a little bit of time on it because I would rather get it all taken care of at once if I can. Their personalities make the experience one that anybody can enjoy. I had my 13 year old son with me today and we never stop laughing. It is nice to see guys who truly enjoy the work that they do and you can tell that they love their jobs. My son even made the comment "when I get old enough I think I wouldn't mind having a job at a place like this they look like they really enjoy what they are doing". The price was reasonable and even though I know how to change my own oil myself I find value in not having to get out of my car and building a rapport with the staff as I go each time (even though I need to go a little more often lol) It had actually been just under a year since I had had my oil changed and they did not make me feel like I was a horrible person, they just smiled and laughed and may be suggested that I do it a little bit more often next time. this is not a place where you feel pressured. this is not a place where you feel like they are nothing but salesman, I was offered a quote for suggested work but at no time did I feel like I was under the gun to get anything done that I did not agree to.
