Very disappointed with my experience at Midas Easton. A few weeks ago, I had my front brakes and rotors replaced, and ever since the repair my vehicle has been having issues. The brakes have been constantly squeaking, and the car shakes when braking, especially at higher speeds. I also discovered that the caliper cover/bracket was damaged during the service. I brought my vehicle in expecting a professional repair and left with additional problems that were not there before. Came for my state and emission inspections since it seemed like they would be cheaper than most. On the phone, I asked for the price "out the door" so I wouldn't get any hidden fees and was given "49.99+tax." On the phone, they were not the most polite, but in person there were no issues. When I arrived I verified if the cost would be "49.99+tax" which they acknowledged. HOWEVER, when I went to pay, there were STILL HIDDEN FEEs like "Shop fees" that was added on. If they had been honest with the cost, would've been more open to coming back, but don't want to go through hidden fees, and dodgy answers. It wasn't an absorbent amount, but it does not seem to be an honest business model to their customers. Be careful! read more

Was just there on Saturday 7/15. I only took it there because my mechanic is backed up. I already knew what it needed. Told them to just do the work i stated. Plus an oil change and No tire rotation. As my one rear tire has a plug and I didn't want it in the front. Well they tried getting me to purchase all new brakes and roters all around. Said they were all bad. Mind you this was after my mechanic already did a full brake replacement last month for state inspection. They were not happy I turned it down. Also my plugged tire is now in the front,where I didn't want it. So they never listened to me obviously. Also they no longer take AAA discounts. Over 1200 in work and yet still tried to get me to do more. I will not be returning. read more

The mechanic I spoke to before and after doing the work was nice, professional and friendly. I would not describe the man working the desk that way. In addition, while every business in the area requires customers to wear masks, this business did not. There was no sign posted asking for that, and the man working the desk did not wear a mask. When I returned to pick up my car, the man ahead of me was not wearing a mask and coughed numerous times while I waited. If I come down with COVID, I will report this business as a possible source of transmission. read more

A couple years back I took my car to Midas on William Penn Hwy. I assume since I'm a woman, they thought telling me I need $847 worth of repairs (new tie ends, new wipers, new brake pads) to pass inspection, would make them some quick cash. Since my car was on the lift, I wanted the mechanic to show me. He said that he didn't have time for that and just needed my approval to start the work. I felt very offended. Did he think that because I'm a woman, I couldn't possibly understand what he was supposed to explain and show me? Needless to say, I took my car elsewhere (Avias). Turns out none of the repairs Midas quoted me were necessary. My tie ends weren't rotted, my brake pads didn't need replacing, and my wipers cleared the windshield. I've been a loyal customer at Avias ever since. There, Mike will answer any questions I have, show me what he needs to do, and if I want the old part, he'll save it and give it to me. read more

They think everyone is an idiot until you prove otherwise. Took a car in for inspection with a coupon for free state inspection, at the front desk was a printed paper stating that with the coupon the charges would be 52.82. They're regular fees are $39.99 for state inspection and emission, $2 for an emisson sticker and $6 for safety sticker. Then I didn't pass inspection and they wanted $700 for brakes and rotor replacement and if I go somewhere else for the work there is a reinspection fee of $20... but they'll waive that if I get the 700 in work done there... how gracious of you. read more

SCAMMERS Took my truck and they told me i needed a new motor at first. $4000 its a 2003 of course i said no. Now time goes by the next day as im headed to pickup my truck they call and state they misdiagnosed. Now its just radiator but its only $1200. i beg them not to touch my truck if they're not sure. i don't want to spend 1200 and then come back to spend 4000. i stressed this, i asked them of they was sure. he promised me they checked the truck throughly and was positive. I pay 1200 to fix the truck in less than 5 hrs the coolant was empty bone dry. Now im speeding money feeding the truck coolant that is just leaking out. i call over the phone he is just saying bring it back. i take it back NOW HE SAY $3000 more. So how do you find a way? stealing is wrong! i cant believe this Robbed me for 1200$ DO NOT TRUST THIS LOCATION its sad that they dont see anything wrong with this not only have they kept me out of what i need to do but to take $1200 like this the truck is doing exactly like it was before i took it there... they misdiagnosed the service and said oh well we got you for $1200. I do not know what the other yelps are complaining about. I took my Mini Cooper along with the new Brake Sensors I needed to have installed. I also asked them to review the brake installation I performed on the vehicle to make sure I missed nothing. Brakes inspected and sensors installed for me all at a reasonable fee with a complimentary look over on the car. They tried to rip me off for $1400 for an inspection. I walked out and went to another shop. I asked them to check the items that Midas said needed to be done (like 3 BROKEN motor mounts). I had the misfortune of visiting Midas on William Penn Highway. I entered and stated very clearly that all I wanted was an oil change. They call me out to the work area and I see various car parts scattered around. They then tried to tell me that I needed $1400 worth of work but they could do it for $1300. At that point I blew my stack, as all I wanted was an oil change! Year and a half later, I have the same car, did none of their recommended repairs and the car still runs fine and has also passed inspection twice. Avoid at all costs! read more

Crooks! Stay away from this place. I went in for a simple exhaust repair and they tried to tell me I needed a couple thousand dollars worth of repairs on unrelated suspension components. I took it to another mechanic in Easton and he found nothing wrong with those components. Seven thousand miles later I still have no problems with what they deemed as being unsafe issues. This Midas does not follow all PA State Inspection standards and MAY NOT pass vehicles that do meet State regulations, as per my family's experience over about 5 years. Be warned. That being said, for a few years our family has brought our vehicles to this Midas for our state inspections and emissions tests. Every time we come in for a simple service or inspection, they seem to "find" something wrong with each and every vehicle. For instance, they provide a free "courtesy" check of your car's vitals, like brake pad wear, battery charge, etc... with every service, such as oil changes. On one occasion a few months ago, we were told during the oil change and "courtesy check" that the brake pads were cracked and should be replaced very soon (note; this same Midas had JUST changed the brake pads about 6 months earlier) and that the battery was not holding a good charge. Come this inspection, brakes had passed with flying colors, a year later. Most recently, what would have been $1400 worth of repairs on components that had "failed" inspection was absolutely passable at another garage under accurate PA State inspection standards. Save yourself the time, hassle, and the money, especially since State Inspections are billed full price, PASS OR "FAIL." Find any other local garage for your inspections and service. If you take anything out of this advice, IF you are told that your car will require $250 or more in any service or maintenance, GET A SECOND LOOK from another garage, specifically a local, non-chain, garage. read more

I have been going to Midas in Flemington NJ for 10 plus years. Great service, honest mechanics (never charged for anything I did not need, prices very reasonable. 100% better than going to dealer) Moved to Nazareth PA and was looking for another location to save me a drive. I have had nothing but rotten service at this location for the following reason. 1-overpriced. Other midas charges 19.00 to patch plug tire, this one charged 32.00 2-Anytime I went for inspection here they try to tell me I need brakes. 2 times they tried to do this. The last time I tested them because my brakes and rotors only had 1000 miles on them so they tried to scam me. 3-Oil change. Picked up car and noticed the drip pan under the engine was hanging and dragging on road. Really? How can you miss that? Anyway drove back to shop and mechanic said that is the way they found the drip pan. Really?? Even if that was true which it wasn't wouldn't you hang the plastic shroud back up???? Ridiculous. 4-Valve cover gasket (oil leak) Picked up car after week noticed still had oil burning smell and drips in driveway. Enough was enough. Took to another mechanic and 2 valve cover bolts missing. What a joke 5- Save time, money and aggravation and go to Midas in Allentown (Haonover Road). My stepdaughter took her car to midas for state inspection(keep in mind her car has 67500 miles on it). They passed her car for emissions, but failed same car for mechanical inspection. It was stated that she required new rear brakes requiring new rear drums, new brake shoes, new wheel cylinder kits, and a charge to bleed the brakes when finished at a total cost of 507 dollars and some change(not including the fee for the mechanical inspection). Having a long lifespan of working in automotive for 40+ years, I knew this couldn't be an HONEST estimate. As I have retired from working on cars due to physical limitations, I did not lose the mentality to know a scam when I see one. I took the same car to a garage in Bethlehem that has been in business longer than I worked on cars and viewed them remove the rear drums(which HAD not been removed due to rust build up around the studs holding the drums on) and the brake shoes had 90 t0 95% of the rear brake shoes still intact, the wheel cylinder kits were still in good shape and functional, and the drums only required a little cleaning to the outside while the inside of the drums was perfect. The car was passed for mechanical inspection at a total cost of 30 dollars for the mechanical inspection fee and 23 dollars for CLEANING the 2 rear drums to a grand total of 53 bucks! That sure is a far cry from the Midas estimate of 507 and some change isn't it? I wouldn't waste my time going back there to argue their attempt at deception because you authorize theft like that when you sign the paperwork to have work done, but be wary of some of these shops and ask around both on the internet(on auto repair sites) and of others with a good background in auto repair before committing to seemingly high repair estimates when in many cases it is needless sometimes downright theft. As a followup note, I witnessed those same rear drums require heavy brute force using a hammer to loosen them enough to even remove for inspection so how could midas run an estimate of needed repairs(especially parts) when they clearly DID not view the insides of the rear drums and the brake components unless there is a new type of xray machine that can see through steel drums without them being removed? read more

I had an appointment today to have the oil changed in my Impala using the $24.99 synthetic oil change special, and when my wife arrived with the car, she was told instead of $24.99 she would have to pay $59.99 for Dexos specifically, instead. When she told them that the requirement is only synthetic blend (and the factory warrenty is expired anyway), Dexos or better, that the synthetic blend oil change would be fine, they refused to do the oil change unless she agreed to pay more than double the agreed upon price. Furthermore, every time I have taken my car there for an inspection they give me a lit of about $1,000 of repairs that "really need to be done right away, but it will pass inspection." My father, father-in-law, and four siblings are all mechanics, and I myself have degrees in both engineering and physics - I know when a mechanic is trying to scam me.
