Had gone in to get a quote on front brake change for my BMW X3. The staff gave me a quote of $1200 for a brake pad and rotor change with a complete brake flush? I said I did not want a brake flush and he gave me a revised quote of $917 and even suggested that the BMW showroom would charge $1700 for the service. And this quote was including a $100 promo off and he said the off was valid only if I did the service right then. I refused and I finally got the brake pad and rotor change in the BMW showroom in Edison for $700. Midas Edison guys completely tried to scam and overcharge me!!! Will never go again. read more

I literally got a flat at 7:15am the tow truck arrived at 7:25am I arrived at Midas at 7:28am they open up at 7:30 and I waited until 1:25pm to get my tire replaced due to them having to order it. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Had them diagnose a burning smell from engine. 2-3 hour job turned into an all day mess. And a very bad coincidence, when they finished exactly at closing time. Ugh. One week later still having the same issues and oil stains on the driveway. Had to take Van to Dodge. I took my suv to get my Axles replaces in 2019. Midas for whatever reason cannot repair my car. Every year my Axles are damaged. They have to keep replacing them. This is frustrating. Last year I went to my dealership for a repair and they brought the issue to my attention again. They said my Axles need to change. I said I'm taking back to midas it's been just a year since the last replacement. Midas it's just slight wear and tear and I'm good. If it's worst they will be replaced. Well fast forward to this year. I went to AAA for maintenance and was told my Axles were shot and I was lucky my car did not collapse while I was driving. Midas agreed to fix them but is charging me for labor which I don't think I should have to pay if had the job properly the first time. This last replacement was done on July 12th. Guess what? Went on vacation came back a week later drove my car for 5 days and the left axle is blown. What the hell! You can't make this ish up. This company is incompetent. I want my money back. I should have taken my darn car to the dealership the first time. Trying to save. Look where its gotten me. 5 changes in 4 years. The hell! read more

I went there last night to have them look at my brakes after hearing noise. I needed new rear brakes. I dealt with the manager, Anthony. He brought me into shop to show me what needed to be done. He honored a coupon that wasn't for his store location, which saved me $50. We had a very nice conversation while I waited for my car. He appeared to be an honest and sincere person. He also told me I had a brake light out to save me from getting pulled over. The guys (sorry I didn't get your names) did a great job fixing my car. One of my bolts was stripped and the guy ran to Home Depot to get me another one! I love the fact that the brakes have a lifetime guarantee. My car is safe and rides like a dream! I am extremely pleased at the quick response, and seriousness that Midas had with my complaint. They are investigating the issue. *****UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES****** Please beware of Midas in Edison. Tried to rip me off the day after Thanksgiving! ... I normally go to the Midas in Paramus for my brakes services, and I had them overhauled about 1 year ago, and serviced again in Sept. On thanksgiving, my brakes began to make a grinding noise, and I went to straight to the closest Midas (Edison Rt 1). After hours, they told me I needed EVERYTHING (roters/pads/drums/Front &Back), and they couldnt put the wheels back on! I protested, said I didnt have the $1100, and took my car. I went to Midas in Paramus, and was told I only needed $99 brake job, simply replacing my front pads. Please feel free to contact me, I only wish I had a copy of the estimate to post on every website. Save your self the TIME and MONEY, stay far away!!!!! read more

I am APPALLED. I came in for an oil change and tire rotation today, very simple. As a courtesy Midas will check if you have any problems with your car. They pointed out some things I didn't know about and one problem needed to be fixed ASAP. I decided to not get the work done at Midas. I go to MAVIS to get the job done - and the mechanic comes back to me telling me that MIDAS GAVE ME A LEAKY OIL FILTER! are you kidding me?! 30 bucks wasted. Don't go to this location. Go to another more trustworthy place. If they can't get something as simple as an oil change right the first time then don't bother. They lost me. read more

One of my calipers seized up on my car. Brought the car in and was told that i would need new caliper and break pads. Was quoted a price of over 400$ by Anthony the manager. Felt that price was a bit much but it was not safe to drive the car and agreed to repairs so in left it at the place. Got a phone call about 2 hours later and was told that the xontralateral side caliper was bad as well and I would have to replace it as well. Grand total came up to 564$ for rear break job. They were also pushing to replace the rotors even though they werent that worn. Picked up the car few hours later and noticed a slight rattle while going over the bumps. Brought the car in when I was in the area again 3 days later for them to evaluate the noise. Anthony the manager that was not there at the time. Was told by mechnics that noise was possibly due to rotors not being changed. I didn'tint have time to leave the car to change rottors at that time so I ordered parts online and had my mechanic change them. My mechanic changed rotors and informed me that when calipers and break pads were replaced a retention spring for break (simple 2$) part which should have come with the part was not installed and that break pads were rattling because of it. At the time he didnt have that spring in stock so I took the car back to midas where repairs were originally done. After inspecting the breaks Anthony told me that my mechanic didnt install rotors corectly and that they were loose. He proceeded to tighten them up but refused to take a test drive in the car to listem to the nose that was coming from both back wheels which continued after adjustment. At that point he and his staff became belligerent refused to talk to my mechanic whom was on the phone with me. They told me my car is a piece of shit and its not their fault ita making the noise. Essentially told me to get off the lot. I orderd the retention spring and had my mechanic help me install it in my driveway in less than 10 min. Noise is gone. I will never patronize any midas location and will make sure that my family and friend s know what a crappy experince I had. Stay away. read more

I wish there was a zero star rating because that's what I would of chose. I went to this Midas location to have my breaks checked, I was told to leave the car and I would get a call with an estimate, I had to call the store and find out what was going on since they didn't call me. They said I needed all breaks and rotors replaced. I trusted them and since I have two young children and wanted my car to be safe. Today I come to find out that the front rotors were never replaced !!! Midas put my kids safety at risk!!! I paid well over $900 dollars to find out I was scammed. I hope to hear from a regional or corporate soon , if I don't I will escalate this issue to the next corporate level and will continue until I get the CEO and PRESIDENT involved and aware of my issues . looking at the reviews it looks like I'm not the only one that this location has lied to. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to note the excellent customer service by John at the Edison Midas shop. John explained to me in detail how the struts worked with the other components in the suspension system and had great patience with answering my many questions which was much appreciated as this was my first time having struts replaced. HORRIBLE service. I had my rear rotors and brake pads changed May 2014 for over $700 (i.e. I was ripped off). 6 months later: brakes are grinding again. I take it back December 2014, and Ben the manager tells me the caliper needs to be replaced. Charges me another $150. Fast forward one year later. My right rear brake pad is now worn down to metal and the Midas shop I've taken it to in my hometown tells me the brakes were never installed properly and that's why they've worn unevenly. Price for full replacement of all 4 rotors and brake pads? $650. i.e. about the half the price of what Ben charged me down in New Jersey for a job he didn't even do right. Needless to say, I am taking this up with HQ. DO NOT take your car there. read more

I went to this location earlier this week, I was very pleased with the service. I went in to the store because my car was making a loud noise and i expected the worst. However after a thorough inspection it turned out to be a simple fix and i was on my way!!!!!!! I originally had service performed on my vehicle in June, where a tune-up, spark plug replacement, fuel system service, and belt replacement were all performed. A few weeks ago I was driving on a highway and heard a rattling under the hood. I pulled over and found a service tool loose under the hood of my car. Needless to say that this was a very disconcerting discovery, and I fear for the potential hazard this could have caused had I not pulled over when I did. I brought the tool and my vehicle back to the Midas and explained the situation. They asked if I knew of any problems, to which I reported a squealing of the belts. The technician proceeded to inspect and tighten the belts. However, the issue of the tool left under my hood was not addressed, and I remain troubled by it. I paid nearly $400 for service, and was subjected to an extremely hazardous situation. With this issue unresolved and unaddressed I will likely not be returning to this Midas location, or any others as a result. read more

Had some time to spare in Edison after coming over from PA. On the way my Chevy Impala muffler started to make more noise (I knew this before -the muffler was starting to go). Stopped by the restaurant next door and saw the Midas shop. I asked them to check my muffler and let me know how much to replace the muffler as I new that was the problem. They put it on a rack and a tech inspected all items, and said the muffler was bad, but I had to wait to talk to the manager. During my time waiting, I went on line to see the price of a new muffler. About $80 and google estimated the repair between $150 to $250. After some time the manager took me into the shop and told me I need a complete new system from the converter exit back to the tail pipe as it was a one piece. His cost was $900 plus to do the job. I told him why not just replace the muffler. Said he could do that, but the cost: $300 for muffler and $200 labor. I explained to him the internet muffler price and he said not the same thing. He said the internet sold after market mufflers, which I said don't you do the same. Then I was told he has to make a profit. Well, with that, I told him to forget it and take the car down. Went to Meineke and did the same thing half expecting the same results. Well, this time they said I only needed a muffler and also got an oil change for a bit over $200.
