I've stayed at Midas Hotel several times for one reason or another, mostly because of its strategic location in the middle of Roxas Boulevard. The lobby is fairly impressive, although I don't quite understand the use of Hermes boxes as a décor (there's a floor to ceiling display of them!). They offer welcome drinks as you go through the check-in process, though it's a bit annoying how you actually have to prompt the front desk people to serve them to you (actually, you have to stand up yourself and claim their from the counter).
Compared to the public areas, the guest rooms itself are not as impressively decorated although they do have the standard features: a desk and chair for working, fridge, electric water pot, clothes iron, etc. We have always gone for non-smoking rooms but I hear the smoking rooms come with a small veranda with wrought iron table and chair. Wi-fi is free but the reception in the rooms are weak so I've had to go down to the lobby to check my email.
The complimentary breakfast buffet has a fairly decent spread--- they usually offer cold cuts and smoked salmon, along with three or four varieties of good cheese. Most importantly, they serve bacon. All the nice crispy bacon you can stuff in your face. Kids will probably prefer the waffle station, with its choice of toppings like chocolate chips, chopped nuts and fruit bits.
The hotel has no pool, which is kind of a bummer. read more
