Went in for a wheel bearing replacement and they charged me $1200. Then they did it wrong and it failed, so I had to take it back for them to redo it. Then checked with Les Schwab and they said they would've charged me $720. Terrible work terrible prices. read more

The absolute worst experience I've ever had! First,... a simple oil change took over an hour and a half and that's first thing in the morning with a reservation. Apparently they don't read their reservation list because I signed up for the special and left instructions to do nothing but oil change. No other services including leaving the tires and air filter untouched. The tech was about to try and fix the TPMS issue I have by adding air to the tire. I told them to leave it as it is that I know what's wrong and he said well your sensors are off. Then he "completed " the oil change by closing the hood without checking the oil level. When I asked if he was going to check the oil level he simply opened the hood pulled and wiped the dipstick without turning over the engine. I also found out that they didn't have my type of oil so that delayed things then when I got the bill it was for $98.00. I informed them I wasn't paying that and that I had signed up for the basic service. the manager then proceeded to argue with me and told me I didn't know anything about vehicles. considering I've done over 200 oil changes on the exact model of truck as mine, donee the brakes, air lift bags, lift kits, tire kits and other mechanical repairs I think he might've been mistaken. Then again he could've been distracted by his daughter coming in and insisting that he took care of her car over customers cars but that is just me assuming. Back in mid-November 2024, I dropped my Honda off for snow tires, came back hours later to find it parked right on the side of their exit - not exactly the safest spot! Then, BAM! A delivery truck backs out, and *wham* - the whole driver's side is wrecked. Initially, the manager, Stan, seemed really understanding. He said he'd handle everything, get me a rental, the works. He even asked me *not* to call the police and suggested I take it to Harrison Automotive for an estimate. Everything seemed fine... until the estimate came back over $6,000! Then, poof! Stan suddenly disappeared, and I was told to deal directly with their insurance company. Fast forward to today, April 8th - I finally got my car back from Russ's Autobody. Nearly four months! The whole thing with Midas was such a headache. No calls, no apologies, no offer to help with anything, not even the $120 I paid for the tire change! And get this - the final straw? I heard from my insurance agent (at Stockman's) that they're *still* parking cars in that same dangerous exit spot! Unbelievable! Just thought I'd vent a little. I've been a good customer here for years, but things have changed. Wyatt, the new manager (?) totally gas-lighted me regarding a "stuck lug nut", and wanted to charge $200 to fix the problem. He was full of compliments about my car, my tires, etc. and very charming, but totally lying. The tires did not get rotated, consequently. Another tire shop quoted $75 if indeed the lug-nut was beyond useable. My regular mechanic checked, and the lug-nut (which I made Wyatt indicate with a Sharpie) was not stuck at all. I feel that maybe since I was a woman and older, Wyatt thought he could get away with this -- not so! But it could happen to anyone, young, old, man, woman. I am very disappointed, to say the least. I am contacting company headquarters to report this, and try to get reimbursed for the tire rotation I didn't get. I will not return to Midas. My advice is to be very aware of the suggestion of unnecessary repairs, and to avoid this place if possible. read more

Go here, as long as you aren't a woman. I came in telling them I had a upper radiator hose leak and I wanted an estimate on replacement. These idiots gave me a 800 dollar quote and tried to explain to me I also needed a lower hose (because it's soft) but this was not mentioned at two other shops I took it too. I told them to take off the lower hose charge since it was not necessary. They gave me a new quote of $612 but kept the labor charge of 500 bucks the same. I don't know about you but if changing an upper house is 500 in labor (industry standard rates per hour range from $75-$130, I'm sure they pay they're mechanics under 15 per hour though) that means they need FIVE HOURS to change out a upper radiator hose. I could ask a toddler to watch a YouTube video and change it out faster. Here's a photo of their estimate and another shops. This Midas location takes advantage of female clients, and clearly fails to follow the Montana regulations as an operating auto mechanic. client requested an inspection for battery/alternator, the test is standard at auto zone / advance auto parts / and O'Reillys FOR FREE. There was no written or formal estimate regarding the completion of the work they ended up completing, nor was there any client approval because they failed to provide that informatio. client received a phone call stating the work was complete which they thought was the inspection. As an operating auto mechanic failure to accurately report, estimate, and communicate said work is against Montana Code 23.19.202 and the failure to accurately communicate what the inspection report was, the estimated cost for said inspection results, and the complete inability to verify and confirm client approval for said work order is a complete failure of client trust, consumer confidence, and moral integrity. this has been reported to the BBB, the Attorney General of Montana, and the Consumer Protection Bureau read more

Update to my review from two weeks ago. I went to Midas because they could get me in for an alignment before a trip I was taking. It turned into a bearing replacement before they said they would do the alignment and charged me $1200 for the replacement and alignment. I found out afterwards that is twice as much as what others in the area charge for that service. My truck still didn't feel right and I took it to another mechanic and they actually aligned it and could provide the before and after paperwork, something Midas didn't. It now confirms my suspicions that the bearing replacement wasn't needed and they took advantage of a minority woman all for the sake of lining their pockets. Not a trustworthy place Took my Subaru in for some inner tire wear, and they called me suggesting #1 new tires and #2 new tie rods. They also said that the last person to change my oil put power steering fluid into my break fluid reservoir. So they also wanted to #3 put new break fluid in. They also checked my breaks and measured them. All of this for the price of $800! Too good to be true, right? However I decided to take my car somewhere else after talking with some family members who work on cars for a living and also because #1 how good of tires are they putting on my car if that price was so low? #2 it was a 2012 Subaru so I couldn't see how my tie rods would have already been worn out and #3 the old power steering in the brake fluid is a classic scam repair stores used in the '80s. I then took my car to the Subaru Dealership only to find out that it was a simple alignment issue that would only cost me $90! The tie rods looked to be in "perfect condition" and they said whoever messed with my breaks last, put my BREAK PADS ON BACKWARDS. If you're looking for an honest, reliable company to work on your car. Look again, because this store isn't here to help you. read more

I brought my car in to get a power steering leak fixed. They told me it was most likely the pump, which is a pricey part to replace, and I told them to go ahead with it after receiving a quote. I got a call the next day explaining that they'd cleaned off power steering fluid that had soaked the area the night before and noticed that the tube was soaked, so they put a new tube in (about $400 cheaper) and suggested I drive the car for a few days to see if the only problem. Turned out it was, and I saved about $400. I've had troubles with auto shops in the past, and as far as I can tell, this was the first time an auto shop has went out of their way to actually SAVE me money on a repair. read more

Misdiagnosed leak and left me with broken car. My car was leaking some type of fluid and I had plans to go out of town, they said they would check the fluids and put a wiper blade on. They brushed the leak off as air conditioner condensation. When I went to drive it I could not turn the steering wheel. The owner came out and was condescending and rough with my car and drove it around for 1/2 hour. He messed around under the hood and said I needed a new power steering pump. I was not liking the pressure and the fact my car was fine when I brought it in. I immediately took it to another shop who drained the overfilled power steering resevoir and said I needed a pump but it may have been exacerbated by the other shop and misdiagnosed the leaking fluid. They fixed it by coming in on off hours. The owner is rude and shady. Awful. read more

this happened in August so my memory is a little off. but i remember the basic details. came into town for a music festival driving an old GMC van with brake problems. it was the weekend so we had to scramble to find a place to fix it. had some dude look at it for free and tell us what we needed to do but he didnt have time to do it. so we begrudgingly called Midas because we figured nothing else was open. dude on the phone was about the nicest person in the world so i thought maybe we lucked out and found a decent spot. i told him a few simple things: -we needed some brake work (cant remember what right now) -we needed the van back by 1pm the next day because we were playing a show and had to leave for the rest of our tour his response was that it'd be no problem and that it'd cost around $275. the guy, again, as nice as nice can be, told us they'd have a look at it that day and because we had music gear in it, would even store it overnight. the next day, walking around Missoula around 9 or 10am, I see some dude driving my van around - meaning they just started to look at it. fair enough - i know how work is and how things jump up on you. but not what the dude told me. around 1:25pm, I give the guy a call. he says he's just writing up the estimate and he'll call me back. MEANING NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE. dude then doesn't call me back. so again, i call him back. from there, basically gives me the run-around, tells me the same things i already know (from what the guy who first inspected it told me) plus now, my brake pads are bad and all this stuff needs to be replaced. and that now the estimate is somewhere around $900. and that it would be ready by Wednesday. DESPITE THE FACT THAT I TOLD HIM WE HAD TO LEAVE. so i tell him to give us an oil change and we'll just have to drive through the mountains and risk total death. he cautions us and in more words, tells us we're probably going to die. we got the brakes and everything fixed in Olympia, WA, for $550. read more

I received service here that was above and beyond. I went to Midas to get snow tires for my car. It turned out that the bolts on one of my tires were so rusted that the tire wouldn't come off. They suggested that they might have to break the wheel and sell me a new one, which probably would have put snow tires out of my budget. So they spent WAY more time than they should have had to in removing the bolts in order to preserve the wheel. And they hardly charged me for all of this labor. Stan was generous and helpful to work with, and I'll certainly go here in the future for anything I need for my tires. read more

I took my van in to the Midas Shop. We take our vehicles there to get the oil changed because it is close and convenient to work. A few days after the oil change, my van started to make a strange noise. It was a chirping sound, very loud. But then......it went away. So I didn't think anything of it. A few days later, started up the van in the morning......the chirping sound, AND the car would die. Got myself to to work, called my husband to come and get the van and take it to Midas. He came, no chirping sound, no dying. Picked it up, Hank said he thought it was the fan belt. Changed the fan belt. A few days later the chirping sound again, and the car dies. Long story short. After several weeks of this happening, and I left he van there over night twice so they could have it cold in the morning, which was when the problems start, I came into the shop to talk with Hank. He takes me back, gets on the computer and shows me the computer program they used to troubleshoot the problem. Says they can get the part, shows me the old part, and THAT is where the chirping was coming from. Makes me a deal. If they fix it, I pay, if they don't fix it and it still chirps. I don't pay. He says he will let me drive it for a few weeks to make sure it is fixed, So far so good. But these guys, Hank, Sean Jim and Brenda are awesome! They have.... THE MIDAS TOUCH :) read more
