Overpriced A few months ago I went to the West Kelowna Midas for an oil and filter change , I booked it online and a lady phoned me to confirm the price and make of vehicle, a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan, I was quoted $119 When I took it in He said it was German and it required a special oil now the price went up to $205 not knowing any better I had the job done , since then I did some research and found out that I was way over charged, I had it done today, oil filter, Synthetic oil and an engine Flush for $145 at Canadian Tire, live and learn . read more

I called Midas on Ringwell in Newmarket today as they did not have a coupon for an oil change on their website. I was told that I would get their special price of $49.95 for my Dodge Caravan, and with the disposal fee and tax it would be $62.50. They said if I got their by 2PM they could fit me in today. When I arrived at 2PM, I was told by someone else that my car required an extra .6 litre of oil and that the total cost would be $82.50. I tried to argue that it was wrong to charge me an additional $20 over what I was quoted. I left promising to never return to Midas on Ringwell in Newmarket! read more

I had high hopes after a referral but the mechanics were incredibly rude. To my face, one said angrily, "I f*cking hate Teslas." There were many other comments said to this effect about Teslas and EVs in my presence. I can only imagine what was being said out of earshot. In addition to being made to feel unwelcome, the TPMS tool was broken so I have to incur additional charges elsewhere. Lastly, they left the pads for the jack on my car, so I had to return so that they could get them (another 20min of driving after the 2hr service). When I did return, the mechanic walked up to my car, said nothing, took the pads and muttered 'thanks' under his breath as he walked away. I came to get a tire changeover/TPMS programming, I left with a half finished job and disrespect. read more

I dropped in to book an appointm ent to change over my tires. They took me right away. Took a bit longer then I expected but service was great price was very reasonable. I will definitely be back. read more

Update to my previous review. I took my vehicle to the dealer for a follow up oil change to the one that Midas botched and they showed me the dangerous repair job that Midas Newmarket had done. As you can see they used RTV liquid gasket to seal the filter housing. The mechanic explained to me how dangerous this is as the liquid gasket can flake off and be taken up into the engine. I now have to worry about monitoring the engine on a constant basis because of this negligent act. Needless to say if anything goes wrong legal action may have to happen. Again, not worth the headaches for such a simple service. read more

Excellent service from Midas Newmarket on Leslie. I've had their mechanics work on several of my vehicles for 10+ years. Much of it has been exhaust, brakes and fluid changes. My most recent service required mechanics to re-weld the flex pipes off of my engine to where they meet the straight exhaust before the catalytic converter. I called to make an appointment and they offered to take it in immediately. The mechanic explained what needed to be done (i.e., welding) as there are no aftermarket exhaust parts for my Ford Flex. I dropped it off at 11 AM and it was ready at 3 PM. The manager, Kassidy Pereira, and his staff were kind and offered coffee and water refreshments. TLDR: I have taken my vehicles to Midas Newmarket for years. I know that I always get quality work performed and, simultaneously, a fair market price for their service and parts. I highly recommend Midas Newmarket for your automotive needs. read more

My wife and I on Saturday were heading up north for a week vacation.We broke down not far from this Midas location just before they closed. Yet they were willing to work together and make sure that we could be on our way so we can be on our way & not miss our vacation An hour later we were back on the road heading north to our resort feeling blessed. Ringwell Drive location Newmarket: Booked an appointment and was very disappointed with the service. They took 1hr 30 mins for an oil change and to rotate tires. Then when I went to pay they tried to overcharge me. No apologies from the manager or owner. My fault.... should have drove further and gone to my mechanic.Will never use Midas again!! read more

After writing my last yelp update I was finally contacted by a person of authority from Midas Head Office (I think their social media department let a higher up know what was happening). It turns out the Ringwell Drive manager closed the ticket and told everyone that I was happy and it was taken care of and didn't need to talk to anyone else. I can say that I am very happy after speaking with Midas authority on the phone and I'm confident things will be handled. He was empathetic to my situation, understood how this behaviour can negatively affect a company's reputation and success, and will look into what's happening, and he recommended another Midas location that he's confident would treat me well. Lesson learned: if you don't like how something goes down, let someone know about it. Sometimes it takes multiple tries until you get through. I'd tried emailing head office first, but my message didn't get through. Thankfully, their social media team is on the ball and helped me out. This 1-star review is for this location only, as others in the company were respectful, listened, and didn't dismiss me. read more

Two years ago was going next door for oil changes and snow tire change out on my two cars, my van was to tall for their hoist and they suggested Midas next door so I made an appointment , they were on time and noted a problem with my brakes ( I already had an appointment with my dealer so it was a known problem, not made up) I asked for a quote, it was significantly lower and more important could be done sooner so I went with it and have never looked back. They have fixed many odd things with my cars, great service and if they can't do it they let me know right away. Today I went in as they we closing and they took the time to quickly look if they could handle the broken mirror, they could and I will call tomorrow to set it up. Great service and they seem to value my time, I truely appreciate this. read more

I responded to their comments by following the link they provided. I also provided all the information they would need to review my interactions with their company. Having had both good and bad experiences with other auto businesses. This was on the better end. They were able too look at it promptly and provided a quote. My vehicle was ready the next day.. On Saturday November 9th I attended my appointment at Midas Newmarket ( 1-1095 Ringwell Dr) to have the winter tires change over on my vehicle. Not to long after dropping my vehicle off, I received a voicemail from Steve advising that there was an issue regarding the wheel lock key breaking and that I would need to take the vehicle to the dealership to get a new wheel lock. When I called Steve back, he advised me the nut broke and it was stuck. He told me that I would have to my vehicle to the dealership to have it fix. Before I went to collect my vehicle, I called the dealership and they advised that it would cost $164 to remove the broken wheel lock where the key broke inside it and $20 to replace the key. When I went to collect my vehicle from the shop, I told Steve about the dealership costs associated and he advised me that its not their responsibility. I advised him that my vehicle was left in his care and custody, who then broke the wheel lock. He kept reiterating that its not his responsible and tried everything to get me to take my vehicle and leave the premises. I asked to speak with the owner and I was told I would have to come back Monday. I took my vehicle to the dealership and they advised that the mechanic most likely used an impact wrench versus doing it by hand. They advised this part does not break easily and if they did do it by hand, they would have found it was too tight. The Midas mechanic then should have advised me t regarding the situation. When mechanics use the impact wrench, there is no gauge if the nut is tight or not. Thankfully, the dealership didn't charge me the full estimate value they quoted me when I called and only charged me $92. On Monday November 11, I called the owner Kamal and explained the situation. He offered me a store credit, but when I advised him that I am not comfortable with taking my vehicle back to the shop, he said ok leave it with him and he will speak with the shop manager Steve and would get back to me. Kamal called me on Tuesday November 12 to advise me that he spoke with the shop manager Steve and then told me the same thing that I was told previously, that "Its not their fault the lock broke and that they are not responsible" and then offered me the store credit again. I explained given my experience that I would not be taking my vehicle back to the shop and all I was looking for was the reimbursement of the dealerships labour costs ($92) and not even the replacement key ($20). He said the store credit is all that they could do. I left my vehicle in their care and custody and the shop failed to communicate prior to the nut breaking or that it was tight. The mechanic was neglectful in his actions and offering a store credit is selfishly trying to secure my business which I was clear that I would not revisit this shop. read more

Ringwell location: I called ahead for an oil change appointment. I was quoted a price of $39.99 over the phone . when I arrived at the shop I was asked again what type of oil change I would like I said the last oil change at this location was $39.99 so the same please. after almost a 2 hour wait I the mechanic came in and showed me my filter and suggested that I changed it . I asked how much the filter would be he said $20.00 I agreed. once the car was ready The bill was $126.00 I was shocked $39.99 plus $20.00 didn't make $126.00. They claimed they put synthetic oil in my car because that's what the oil cap said to put in. so I asked why was my last oil change $39.99 last time and they didn't have an answer. Now my car Makes a horrible very loud sound when I turn left or right. I am not sure what they have done to my car. just not fair. read more

Great customer service by tech Jason today. He looked at a problem with vibration in my car by taking it for a test drive, checking all of the parts, and solved it by melting the snow build up. He could have charged me for the time spent doing all of these steps, but he didn't. It really made my day after the worry of an unexpected expense. This was my 4th time going to Midas, and the staff and service is wonderful. Highly recommend! read more

Went in for a simple quick oil change and got it but found oil patch on my freshly sealed driveway the next morning. Good thing I noticed it so I didn't park on my customers stone driveway. Stopped back in to Midas and after 20 minutes with the truck in the shop was called out to be told there was no sign of a leak or it had been from oil that had collected on the frame during the oil change. I asked them to come and clean the oil (1/4 litre) off my driveway. They sent a young guy over and after seeing the condition of the new black top he called the shop to confirm that what he had would work. I had my doubts. It took off the loose oil but the patch where it had leaked was still visible. I have called back and been passed around from person to person each saying I would have to speak to someone else but that they would make it right. Finally messages were left with the owner with no response. If they can't do a simple oil change with out making a mess what is the chance they will make more mistakes that they will fail to rectify read more
