Mike D and Nicole were warm, friendly and never pushed any service or tried to tell me extra things like some places do. Maybe it was a mistake, but the response was to refund my credit card for the service?? It's not a refund if there was no service performed. I called the last shop to verify the make an model of the filter that they had installed and it's the one still installed (ACDelco). I called Midas and asked what filter they had installed and their records showed Purolator. I wanted more than a refund this is ridiculous, and possibly fraudulent. If it was a mistake then the fact that they overbook so much that this can happen is ridiculous. I have and sent them the pictures clearly showing this is not a new filter, but I got a refund on services not provided.

On the negative side is the upsell - you go in for an oil change with an engine flush and you are pressured to consider any number of additional services. All well and good if there is actual evidence that the work needs doing (lights that are blown; air filters that are clearly dirty); but others are recommended without any evidence that there are necessary (replace your spark plugs? clean your fuel lines? replace your transmission oil?). My advice - negotiate the price for any work that you actually would value being done (expect to get at least 1/3 off the quoted price) and refuse any work for which there is no proof that it is required for your specific vehicle (do not buy into the argument that "the manufacturer recommends this work be done every 10,000KM"). That way, you will get the basics done at a reasonable price and can agree to whatever optional services you might actually value without paying the high mark up in the listed price.
