The only downside is that refilling your water can be tricky, so make sure to bring a large water bottle. If you get hungry, Neomonde is a great quick option just down the street. Overall, I've found everyone at the courts to be welcoming and inclusive, making it a great environment for newcomers like me.

Honestly I was going to give this place a 5 because I love it so much but the restrooms were looking pretty neglected today. Lots of things to do on the playground including a sandbox, 3 toddler slides, and 3 large slides, lots of climbing and spinning equipment too! It's right next to Crabtree creek trail which links onto a greenway. There are also tennis courts and plenty of parking spaces in the lot.

It's a pretty steep hill, so if that isn't your thing I wouldn't plan to take that walk. It's quite pretty in the middle of the trees. From the moment we arrived, it was clear why Gipson Play Plaza has quickly become one of Raleigh's most beloved public spaces. Spanning 18.5 acres, it's the largest adventure playground in the Southeast, thoughtfully designed with climbing towers, imaginative play spaces, gardens, public art, and sweeping views of the Raleigh skyline. Parking was plentiful, making it easy to start exploring. Our first stop was the beautifully restored House of Many Porches Market, where you'll find snacks, cold drinks, indoor restrooms, and a welcome escape from the summer heat before heading back outside for more adventure. The children loved moving from one area to the next: running through the water play features, climbing, exploring, and discovering something new around nearly every corner. One of the most memorable moments of our visit was feeding the fish, a quiet pause that became an unexpected highlight amid all the excitement. One thing to note is that on especially hot days, some of the metal slides may be temporarily closed for safety. While completely understandable, it can be a little disappointing for children eager to experience every part of the playground. If I could change one thing, it would simply be adding more traditional swings on the playground. That's purely personal preference, though, and certainly didn't take away from what is an incredibly well-designed space. Gipson Play Plaza is more than just a playground: it's a place where families can comfortably spend an entire afternoon. Refereeing can be hit or miss which is very common for any sport. What are my likes? It's an artificial turf field, which can be tough on the skin when it comes to sliding, but it's a pretty nice field. It's well-marked and has soccer and lacrosse goals for use. The disc golf course is pretty fun as well - the majority of it is wooded, but there are a few more open holes as well. It's decently marked, so it's not too confusing to follow. Parking usually isn't an issue, but since it is right next to the high school, trying to find your way around can be a bit confusing.

You need to call and reserve and it usually takes a couple minutes to do that
