    chicken and potato samboosa

We didn't mean to come to Middle Eatz, as we had planned to go to Taj but Taj was closing early on New Years Eve. But let me tell you, thank you Taj for closing early! I am so glad that they did, otherwise we wouldn't have experienced the deliciousness that is Middle Eatz! This place is delicious! I am so happy that we stumbled upon it. First off, there are booths on one side and then more cozy-square-ish tables on the other side, and then more seating in the middle. There are beautiful portraits of various landscapes adorning the walls. The food has great choices (even some smashburgers because the owners are from the west coast) but the Yemeni cuisine is delicious! My partner ordered the chicken mendi, which was fall off the bone tender. The chicken flavored rice was delicious. I had a chicken plate with rice, and also ordered chicken and potato samboosa. Everything was wonderful, and the portions were generous. Service was great! I can't wait to go back to this wonderful gem. I overhead one of the owners saying he and his brothers own it, and their sons work there. It is a true family business.

I'm so glad we stopped by Middle Eatz because the food was just amazing. When we entered we were greeted right away and the staff was so patient with us as we took awhile to decide what we wanted. Our waiter even made suggestions and asked us about our preferences so we could make a decision. He was also very attentive to us as we ate. We left with to-go boxes because we just couldn't finish everything. Safe to say portion sizes are generous, or right on par for the price. We didn't try any desserts but most likely will on our next visit because they looked so good. I loved the ambiance of this place, it was very nicely decorated with portraits from countries in the Middle East. I will definitely return in the near future.

I did a take out order for the chicken shawarma rice based plate. The food only took about 15min for pickup. When I walked in the employees were really nice and had my order ready to go. There were a couple traditional floor seating dinner tables. This is a nice place to grab middle eastern food quick.

The first thing you'll notice is how clean the resturant is and how friendly the staff is. Hannah our server was awesome! We had the chicken hummus bowl, sayyid platter, lamb mendi, & chicken & rice plate. Very tasty! The seasoning and flavors were top notch and filling. I'd definitely come again! 10 / (lambs)

Excellent service!!!! Food exquisite Ambiance amazing Well done I recently went to Middle Eatz and I just wanted to say thank you for such a great experience. I have seen this place and wanted to try it. I finally got the chance. I met Jibril (the owner) and he was very friendly and attentive. It was a busy time as it was Ramadan, and their hours were changed. I got a table and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered the Amir Kabob plate. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. I asked for an evening coffee and they made a special latte for me. Jibril offered a dessert and it was a pistachio dessert that was similar to a cheese cake. Very good! I definitely will be returning often.

Honestly probably some of the best food I've had in Nashville. The stew is hardy and filling. All the staff is very friendly and willing to help you understand the menu. I had a wonderful first visit and welcoming environment. Ordered: Selta $19.99 Socials: The Hungry Wonderland

Food was outstanding! Authentic flavors, attention to detail plating, and generous portions. We had the hummus/pita appetizer, Lamb Mendi, Chicken Mendi, Chicken Shawarma fries, Masoob (dessert), cookie butter cheesecake. Everything was delicious . Services was genuine and attentive. Server was very nice and took time to explain the foods and tell us a little about the history of the owners and the restaurant. Restaurant and bathrooms are very clean, will definitely make plans to return.

The staff was super friendly, the place was clean and welcoming, and the food is absolutely incredible! I got the lamb mandi with the salad, and the portions are great! The meat was perfectly cooked, fell right off the bone, and had an incredible flavor. The side salad was fresh and delicious, and the rice perfectly complimented the meat. Will definitely be coming back!

The top middle eastern food restaurant in Nashville and we've tried them all. We bring all family and friends who come to visit. Really fun family style seating for larger groups. The kabobs are so well flavored and juicy, we love the lemon pepper chicken kabob but the sayyid platter is just as good. Their chicken Mehndi dish, a chefs kiss! The chicken just falls off the bone and the rice that comes with it is to die for. My kids eat it for days. The portion sizes are really large. Their sahowka spicy sauce is amazing with the meat dishes, fresh, tangy, and mildly spicy. We also get the hummus and cabbage pickles which is such an experience of flavors all together and comes out with warm pita bread. Their falafel is really good as well. We've tried all the desserts which were just as amazing as the main dishes but the masoob is definitely an experience that leaves you craving your next visit and I'm not typically a dessert person. I would even come just for this dessert and tea experience. The service is so great, everyone is so warm and welcoming, they truly make you feel like family. We never leave disappointed. Amazing food, amazing experience, amazing people. If you haven't tried this place put it on your Nashville list.

Chicken Mendi (chicken and rice are not hot, but the side of "salsa" was spicy HOT."

I'd…read moresaved them in my Nashville bookmarks for some time after they received a lot of acclaim on Yelp - I believe at one time they were on a Yelp list of best restaurants in the US. We were certainly excited to try Uzbek food, as there's nowhere that serves it where we live. The restaurant doesn't look like too much from the outside and the parking lot is a little run down. However, the inside is very updated and super clean and comfortable. There's lots of seating, what appears to be a private room in the back, and some high-tech features, like a machine that you can use to alert waitstaff if you need a refill, a to-go box, or any other kind of attention. The bathrooms were also immaculate. Service was a little strange. I wouldn't say it was slow - every time we placed an order or had a request, our food or items were promptly brought out to us. However, the challenge came in getting the attention of our waitresses. Two ladies took care of us, alternating based on availability. One was very nice and friendly, the other a little gruff and irritable-seeming. But both were completely averse to coming in and checking on us without one of us flagging them down. Perhaps they're used to the little machines? I don't like using those because they come across as too demanding; I'd prefer to just be visited and checked in on from time to time by staff. Not so here. Despite not being very busy, our visit took a lot of time, even though the actual food service was fairly quick. Onto the food, the most important part. We ordered a lot because I wanted to experience as many unique dishes as possible. One waitress first brought out a complimentary serving of pita and what I believe was suzma, which the menu describes as a yogurt-based cheese. This was one of the highlights of our meal, actually, as the pita was hot, fresh, and very lightly charred. The suzma went very well with it. Then we ordered a chicken somsa and some Uzbek bread. The chicken somsa was alright; the pastry was delightfully flaky, but for me it was way too onion-forward. The Uzbek bread was another highlight. It was a temperature and textural delight - so warm and fluffy - if not a flavor bomb. It was great to polish off the remaining suzma from our complimentary treat. For entrees, my husband wanted to try the signature osh, while I ordered chicken shashlik. The osh was probably the better of the two but he didn't love it. It was quite greasy and the lamb was on the gamey side. My chicken shashlik had definitely been near charcoal too long; it had an overly-charred, unpleasant chemical-y taste. The accompanying rice had so much butter or oil in it that it was greasy, too, and although that imparted more flavor into it, I felt gross after a couple of bites. Everything was cooked well, just the flavors really didn't quite come together for us on this visit. It's hard for me to believe, given the average outstanding reviews and consistent praise this place gets, that our experience was an average one. Perhaps we just came on an off day or ordered the wrong things for our palates, since we're fairly unfamiliar with this cuisine. I would be willing to try again some day, but sadly our first visit didn't quite wow the way we'd hoped it would. I appreciate the clean and pretty environment and quickly prepared food!
