I visited this fabulous establishment 2 times over memorial weekend- yes I HAD to go back a second time!!!! The friendly, relaxed environment was perfect and the food-- OMG OMG OMG!!! Everything was full of flavor, unexpected yet amazing combinations and chicken was grilled perfectly as well. I have a lot of stomach issues that can be unpredictable, not one of their dishes caused me any problems! a rare GEM of a restaurant! I was at tie me on a few weeks ago and saw that they had opened a Turkish Grill and Bar where the old milkshake shop used to be. Today, I was over with Nate who was opening up Harding House Brewery and decided that I needed to try Kardes for their Turkish School. I have visited Anatolia and some of the Kurdish restaurants in town but I think this is a step above. I ordered the mix Grill which includes a chicken skewer, lamb skewer and meatballs. Along with grilled pepper salad and rice, plus some Turkish pickles. While we were waiting for the food to cook he brought over some kisir and za'atar. I thought I knew Turkish food but this takes it to a completely different level. I'm a fan of Anatolia, but this is at a different level. The kabobs are succulent and have a wonderful flavor. They went very well with the za'atar. Pickles have nice spoce them. Great acid on the salad. The chickpeas in the rice was a great addition. I am not normally a big fan of beads, but the kisir was great. Grabbing baklava to go. Braised lamb with be on the list the next time. read more

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Do not skip the MEYHANE EXPERIENCE (for two). It is the perfect start to your meal with endless warm pita, and different delicious creative dips. The staff goes out of their way to explain to you and make sure you're good. They also remembered me the second time I came back and accommodated my preferences from my first visit! I mean every single dip is so so delicious. Perfect place to celebrate with a group and share plates or go on a date. I also got the mixed grill which is perfect to share for two as well. It also gives you a chance to taste all of the different meats and comes with a salad and delicious warm fluffy rice that has chickpeas. Delicious Turkish food and possibly the best Hummus in Nashville. Kardes, in the L&L Market, is unimposing, but their food and their service are excellent. A friend and I visited for lunch. We sat at the counter and we were cheerfully greeted by our server who immediately poured us water with ice. My friend and I shared the delicious warm Hummus. There are yummy pieces of smoked sausage in the Hummus that totally elevate the flavor and the texture. It is served with warm pita bread and the server brought us a second round of bread without us asking for it. I then had the Meatball Wrap. The meatballs are freshly made and well seasoned. The sandwich was loaded with meat, lettuce, sauce, and some cherry tomatoes. This sandwich is better than most Gyros in Nashville. It was delicious and I would order it again. Kind people. Nice set-up. Delicious food! We really enjoyed our first trip to Kardes. They greet you with a complimentary high-quality hot tea. The menu is small, but the servers go over any items or questions with you. As a vegetarian I had an option that was not yet on the menu. Such beautifully crafted Turkish cuisine. We shared a delicious carrot dish as an appetizer. I got a dish with sunchokes and pomegranate seeds. My friends had a mixed grill. The other diners appeared just as happy as we did. Kardes is one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville! The food is so authentic and delicious. My four year old son is obsessed with it and ask to go there all the time. Highly recommend the Kisir. Absolutely delicious from beginning to end, with warm and generous hospitality to match! We loved the intimate feel of the main semi-circular space, which makes it easy for staff to interact with diners. We loved the warm hummus with pastrami to start. They brought fresh, hot pita one at a time so we'd get the best experience--lovely service touch. We also got to sample the girit ezme, which has such flavorful feta I wanted to lick the plate! For mains, we tried the chicken skewers and the braised lamb neck: both were amazing -- you can tell the chef is very thoughtful about sourcing top-quality ingredients. Really generous portions for the price, and they validate parking. A great date-night option. Such a great new spot with amazing food and even better people A friend suggest so I checked out this brand new Turkish restaurant and honestly loved everything about it. The food was fresh, cooked perfectly, and was homemade and you could tell. I had the Kisir (kind of like a bulgur salad served in lettuce wraps) which was light and delicious. The Börek was flaky and hit the spot. And the pumpkin dessert with kaymak was unexpectedly good. The kaymak (had to google it - it's clotted cream) takes it over the top. Finished with a Turkish coffee, (it's supposed to have grounds on the bottom) which was strong, smooth, and exactly how it should be. The owners are Cem, Selim, and Oscar and are so kind. You can tell they care about the food and the experience. They make you feel like you're a guest, not just a customer. It's rare to find a place that feels this genuine right from the start. We've come here twice, unfortunately only for to-go orders, but the food and the hospitality is outstanding and deserves 100 stars! The open kitchen allows the staff to interact so easily with customers, we always feel welcomed and cared for as if we're dear friends. We're treated with hot Turkish tea while we wait and the staff is always so kind to our toddler, treating her with fresh fruit from the kitchen and so much warmth. Food is prepared with care and attention to detail, quality and taste are fresh and delicious, but most importantly, I would come here weekly if I could just to enjoy the company of the Kardes staff - some of the warmest humans I've ever met, and so refreshing to be treated as a guest instead of a customer. Amazing! I am so excited finally have the BEST Turkish food in town!!!! Lamb is very well done, we also loved kofta and highly recommending the meze platter! Girit and hummus were my favorites! We came with friends who have kids with soy, garlic, dairy, and egg allergies and chef Selim suggested lamb for them which both kids loved!
