Dr. Hudson removed my wife's cataracts a few years ago. She is professional and congenial. My wife's eyes have been perfect ever since. The same cannot be said of her office staff. I arrived early and parked in the handicapped area since I am an 85 y/o disabled veteran. Non-handicapped parking was significantly closer to the entrance. I had the usual paperwork to fill out and did. I was informed by a stern woman whose previous job must have been as a Drill Sergeant at Parris Island. I was to list all my meds and a specific reason for taking each. Also, I was to list every surgery I'd had in my 85 years. The meds were to be explained in one small box and the surgeries in another. When ordered to give my whole Social Security number, I asked why. The drill instructor yanked the clipboard from my hands and walked away. Very rude staff. Called several times with no answer. Finally got an appointment only to have them cancel a week before my appointment. Called a dozen more times, no answer. This office has very good technical and professional staff however they are a typical old school optical shop running the same old scam on consumers. They will not provide customers their pupillary distance (PD) reading (required for an eye-ware purchase) with an exam unless you buy glasses from them. I paid for my exam and it all went very well until I asked that my PD be included in my prescription. They flat out refused. Actually the optometrist said I could have it during the exam but I had to get it from the front office staff who refused. I offered to pay more for it to be included. Again, they refused. I hand delivered the two doctors in the practice a complaint letter and notified the FTC, Health Board, Better Business Bureau and TN Attorney General and they have both just have ignored me. Next I plan to appeal to my state representatives to change the laws in TN so shops like this will stop ripping off consumers. Beware of Middle TN Eye they will scam you. If you know of ophthalmologists who will not run this scam on you in the Cookeville, TN area please let others know. read more
