If I could give a zero, I would. We have been taking our dog there for five years. We called this morning to see if we could bring our dog in because he wasn't feeling well and was told we had to pay $150 Walk-in fee because of Covid. It's obvious they didn't incur any additional expenses due to Covid (If anything, they probably are making more money because of one of those free PPP loans). This is beyond unethical that they would charge an additional $150 to try and profit off this pandemic. There are plenty of other good veterinarians in the area, if you're thinking about a vet, you definitely want to go elsewhere. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

In February of 2020, my French bulldog injured his eye, we were seeing another vet for treatment and it just wasn't responding to antibiotics. We were referred to an eye specialist who essentially told us that his eye needed to be removed but he couldn't do it because he was going on vacation and closing the office for the week. My options were to have my local vet remove it or wait until the specialist returned in a week and hope the eye didn't rupture in the meantime. I called my regular vet, and they told me they don't perform eye removal surgeries. I was now scrambling to find a vet that did. I called Middleboro animal clinic and they saw my dog that same day, and scheduled the eye surgery the following day! They were so compassionate throughout the ordeal and so very reasonably priced that i immediately switched all my animals to this practice. I have never had a problem getting a sick visit scheduled and I love that Dr Johnson doesn't try to sell you on services. He literally plucked a lose tooth from my cats mouth, when another vet would have made me schedule a full dental cleaning/removal. Just overall wonderful clinic! read more

I brought my large dog there after getting him from the pound (abused) years ago. I remember asking what breed they thought he was and they stared at him a minute and said "mutt" and laughed. I though that was a little rude as well as getting rough with him when they gave him a shot and he yelped a little. Doc Johnson slammed him on the table real hard. There was no need for that, the dog wasn't out of control or anything. My dog has never bit and is playful and loving. I could never bring him back there after that. I got the feeling he's rough with his animals. I couldn't stand the thought of my sweet dog being treated like that.... Maybe things are better now.....hope so? read more

Dr. Johnson is amazing. We had to have our last Pug, Luci, put down after just turning 3 due to cancer. Every other vet tried to sell us on soft palate surgery of some type, saying that was her problem. He tried everything he could, but there was no helping her. He was so supportive and helpful during that very difficult decision. We were getting married that week, and I called Dr. Johnson (who breeds and shows pugs) if he knows of a way I can adopt a Pug quickly for a wedding gift for my wife. Turned out one of his grandpugs was available as a puppy! He made some calls and I drove to CT to meet with the nicest two breeders. I was able to bring a Pug puppy home as a wedding gift for my wife, all because of Dr. Johnson. Our Pug, Olivia (Olive for short) is now three, and snoring away in her doggie bed as I write this. She is the sweetest crazy little pug and we spoil her rotten with adventures, walks, and play time. Thank you Dr. Johnson for not just being a great vet, but a great person. read more

This place is amazing. My 15 yr old kitty was having some issues. I got to the office on Tuesday (the day after a holiday no less) as they opened. They clearly had no openings and were booked that day and the next. However, because a surgery appointment hadn't shown up on time, the vet and his staff kindly got my kitty's records into their system and the vet looked at her. I felt no pressure to get any unnecessary scans, etc. done. It was evident they all care about animals. I am just so pleased with them fitting us in without an appointment. Great place. I called early (very early 1:00 am) on a Sunday morning with a cat that was in such pain (cystitis) Dr Johnson called me back at 8am Sunday morning and told me to bring him right in!!!! Made an appointment to have my dog checked out after having some serious health issues, he ended up passing away on the way to the animal clinic and Dr. Johnson was extremely kind and compassionate and didn't charge me to confirm he had indeed passed. They even then had me to go the pet cemetery myself (which is right down the street) to save time on getting the remains back after cremation. 10/10 customer service and compassion! Friendly staff that understands your pets needs and does not push unnecessary tests and vaccinations. Rates are extremely competitive and records are computerized. FINALLY A CLINIC THAT TRULY CARES! I can't say nothing but kind words towards the whole staff at Middleboro Animal Clinic. They are the REAL MCCOY! I drive an hour and 15 min back/forth because they are worth it and because they are the best in NEW ENGLAND! I was referred to them thru a friend/handler. I trust them completely with my pooch. They saved my dog life twice! Dr. Johnson and Dr. Harrison know their stuff from cats to dogs to horses, etc! Their animal clinic doesn't look like a clinic from the outside it looks like a cute red barn. It's warm and inviting. The staff are warm, friendly and the examine rooms are clean. They don't push unnecessary tests nor tag on outrageous fees. They stay up to date with animal science and their hours are great. Sometime the Doctors will answer the phone if the techs are busy - so unheard of! Also they provide boarding that is reasonable affordable. I've been a client for a few years. I thought the vets and staff were great at first but there's been a change in personnel and my dog was treated very roughly the last time we were there. She was there for her vaccinations. She began to whine and cry while they were drawing blood for her heartworm test. The tech pushed me away and grabbed my dog roughly by the collar. My dog is a big dog and she began to struggle and cry when they were giving her her shots. The tech then grabbed her by the collar and began jerking her and yelling at her to shut up. The rest of the staff present at the time found this to be very hilariously funny. I went to the clinic once more a few weeks later to buy a routine medication. The staff present at the time brought up the incident and laughed over it. I won't use this clinic again. read more

My family has been going to Doctor Johnson for 36 years. When I got a dog of my own, I of course started to attend his office as well. I have a long haired dachshund who has had her share of problems from day 1. She is allergic to many shots, and Dr. Johnson caught it right away. Now when she receives shots, she is always injected with Benedryl first. She had lime disease as a puppy, that was quickly taken care of. Just two years ago, she was diagnosed with IVDD. Her discs in her back were calcified and ruptured. Dr. Johnson provided me with many options in caring for her. Ultimately, he referred her to a neurologist, and kept in contact with her neurologist throughout her surgery and recovery. A few months after her surgery, he offered to provide her with laser therapy. Her neurilogist had little hopes of her walking ever again, but with Dr. Johnson's laser therapy and constant communication with me, nine months later, she began walking. He is aware of how much people love their pets, and is very sympathetic towards the care of their animals. I have referred several people to him who like Kathy B, are willing to travel in order to ensure their pets receive the best care. I want to also mention that Dr. Johnson does a lot of pro-bono work. He provides a rabies clinic for the Town of Middleboro in which he administers rabies shots for a fraction of the price it would normally cost. He also realizes the financial burden pets can have on their owners, and is sensitive to that when recommending appropriate routes to the pet's health. read more

My story is about the same-adopted a dog about 10yrs ago and they gave me a free check up at the clinic..very rough...dog was crying while getting his ears cleaned. The vet said that the breed was known to be nippy and punched him...then went to get a muzzle. Hello, if you knew there was a chance of getting nipped, put the muzzle on first. The vet techs are also amazing. I have been taking my dogs and my cat there for over twenty-five years and would not think of going anywhere else. They saved my dog's life and I am grateful for the care and compassion that was shown during that difficult time for our family.
