I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with Chase Veterinary Clinic following our recent experience. My wife brought our nearly one-year-old dog in today for a routine spay procedure. A couple hours after she was dropped off, we received a call informing us that, prior to surgery, our dog had been administered the wrong medication and dosage through an IV -- specifically 1 ml of bupivacaine instead of being held for splash block prior to spay. According to the report we later received, the error was serious enough that ASPCA Poison Control had to be contacted to monitor the situation due to the potential for complications including bradycardia, hypotension, tremors, seizures, and methemoglobinemia. Symptoms would have developed within 30-60 min. and there is a medium risk that those signs would be serious or life-threatening. Thankfully our dog had no clinical signs present but our family has trusted and used Chase Veterinary Clinic for many years, which makes this situation even more upsetting. While we are grateful our dog was being monitored and the correct steps were taken to ensure her wellbeing, this incident has completely broken our trust and confidence in Chase. We understand that accidents happen in the vet medical community however as a result, we will no longer be using their services moving forward. read more

All these reviews are incredibly old and from my understanding most of the staff has changed within the last couple years other than Dr. Caffarella and a couple long term technicians who are quite lovely. Chase Vet is an amazing clinic. They do genuinely care about your pet, and I find the people that complain the most as far as clients always tend to be the most difficult ones to deal with as well. (This goes for ANYWHERE; not just medicine!) Anytime I've needed my pet seen, if they were not able to get me in they offered resources for local urgent cares. This field is incredibly short staffed right now so I appreciate all that they do for my fur babies; even if they can't get me in they never leave me hanging and point me in the right direction. I feel like a lot of people have unreasonable expectations as far as what Vet hospitals can and can't do. They deserve kindness, respect and patience. Hell I don't get a call back from my Human Dr concerning lab results, or inquiries for WEEKS. Sometimes I don't get calls back immediately from Chase but it's still within a reasonable time frame considering the struggles Vetmed is dealing with: Thank you for all that you do Chase! I have been taking my dogs to Chase for years. These old negative reviews from COVID years or during the transition to new ownership are simply no longer relevant or accurate. The current staff and vets are friendly, knowledgeable, and legitimately care for the animals with compassion and timely treatment and follow-up. I have had my dogs treated at two other vets during off hour emergencies or while traveling, and find that Chase's prices are in line with industry standards. read more

Chase used to be a great vet but recently they have become careless and dangerous. Prescribing and giving medications of their choice rather than what is needed. It is really sad that a once thriving pet focused business is being changed over to a business that is just focused on the bottom line. read more

We had been taking our dog here for three years. This last visit has to be the worst veterinarian visit we ever had with our dog. The vet clearly didn't read the dogs history in the 3 years he'd been going there or she would have know he had Lyme disease prior to this visit and could test positive. Instead she just tells my wife you can get a test or give him a course of doxycycline. They take zero responsibility in knowing the history of your pet or making recommendations which are both knowledgeable or practical and inline with your pets health history. After asking for the Lyme test he did not need treatment but they wouldn't take the doxy back or just destroy the meds and refund us for their mistake and lack of follow through. The vet tried to give me some song and dance about only having 20 minutes per dog, like that means we should let someone who makes no effort to know the medical condition of our pet treat it? What else could they get wrong from neglecting to look at your pets medical history. Also don't by your medications from this over priced hack clinic, the medication they sold us was 4 times the price you can get it at CVS. Talk about a rip off. Had been taking my cat there for 11 years. She has a history a struvite crystals and has been on RX food the entire 11 years. This week they tell me no more food because she missed her last wellness exam - (during a pandemic mind you - while she is completely healthy - as long as she has her RX food!) She is up to date on all of her shots which I completely understand she must have in order for the technicians to be safe but still no food - I explained all of this to the person on the phone but "no" - she can't get me an appt for two more weeks which by then my cat will be out of food and have a UTI or blood in her urine. I guess the $150.00 is super important while making a healthy cat sick. I did not realize Dr. Chace sold the place a while back - that is why these changes are in effect. read more

The vets are very rude and clearly don't care about the animals. They are not gentle when trying to hold animals in place and are quite obviously more concerned with getting everything done as soon as possible than they are with making sure they dont hurt or scare the animals. Not every vet in this office is this way, ive met 1 or 2 that were actually quite nice and patient and clearly actually cared but they were assistant. The actual vets are impolite and rude and mean to the animals. It seems like they do know what they are talking about medically but thats not all that matters. Made a appointment for my dog to be seen for a spider bite early in the week finally ready to be seen and they tell me that they can't do anything because they close in 20 minutes. The vet tells me she will have a staff meeting and tell her staff not to make appointments that close to closing. Made me wait for nothing! Recently visited as new patients. 5 yr old boxer mix and 12 yr old chihuahua. We were able to schedule both pets for 1 appointment time on a Friday evening. Super convenient! We were called at our appointment time, not sure if that is common. Also checked out promptly with meds and all info. Quite a different experience than previous office (NEAMC) where there is a wait for every phase of appt. So grateful for referral to Chase Vet.! read more

Such a weird set up with the entrance/exit here. I brought my pup here, and literally almost couldn't get her into the waiting area from the little foyer entrance way. She immediately started shaking as if petrified of this place! They bring you in another room off the waiting area, and you are rushed so fast that before you know it you are at the exit paying! My dog had vibes, and I should of listened! The Doctor (Chase) was too aggressive with my dog. No privacy with the Doctor. Claustrophobic atmosphere. I will go to a Vet that doesn't freak my dog out in the future. read more

Sometimes the front staff comes off as grumpy and rude, but I just think some of the ladies are a little rough around the edges because I always change my mind about them, so I guess as time passes they warm up a bit. Dr. Chase is a wonderful man. He is helpful, caring, and takes good care of the animals, but I cannot say I was as impressed with some of the other veterinarians (but these just may be personality flaws, so I can overlook them). I am a certified veterinary technician and have been for 15years. Recently I had to help a friend in a very rough situation. Her 4lbs, 8yr old, female chihuahua had been vaccinated on a thursday (with a history of vaccine reactions, so not even sure why they did this), but a few days later got very I'll. Now, a vaccine reaction typically happens in 24hrs or less, and even more commonly within 30mins. So when I got this call, It seemed obvious to me that it was not vaccine related. Let me ask other readers a question... when u call your vet for 2 straight days trying to get an appointment and say "she is very sick, and I dont know if she will make it through the night", you would expect to be seen right?! Not given an appointment for a day later and told to pick up meds that were given WITHOUT AN EXAM TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG!!! Especially a medication that no reputable veterinary professional would put up without seeing the pet, or without bloodwork to make sure it was safe to give. As it turns out, my friends was also never educated, due to the rush out the door they have, on the dangers of not spaying her dog. Had she known, she would have gotten the surgery done sooner. When i got to her at home, she was very I'll with an infected uterus (pyometra) and we rushed to ER. Unfortunately she was in septic shock and didnt make it. I can not believe that she wasnt offered an appointment, even if she had to wait in lobby until someone became available. That is how a veterinary hospital should treat their clients. Where I am employed we regularly have no available appointments, but a client calls with a sick pet and we fit them in, that is what SHOULD BE DONE!!! Also, they had vaccinated her a few days prior and she was healthy..... maybe they should have been concerned that the vaccine stimulated her immune system to the point of not being able to fight a brewing pyometra in a known, unspayed female dog. I got the story, signalment and history, and in 5 mins had a pretty good idea of what was up. If they cared enough to take the time to look at her record, maybe they would have realized the importance and severity of the problem. But, they showed no remorse and sent her with meds she NEVER should have been given. Then I called to make the hospital manager aware of the treatment the owner recieved, (with the owner's knowledge) and I was spoken to in the most rude manner I have ever been. I can not believe that they couldn't be bothered to have a calm, professional conversation. The manager got very defensive and said "she wouldn't discuss this with me and was letting me go" and ended to conversation. If that was my hospital and my employees, I would want to know so that it never happens again. No client or patient should EVER be treated like this. I can not say enough about this place. I now live in Dedham & still bring my cat to Dr. Chase (or trusted colleague) My cat is not your average house cat ..... He seems to find medical problems. He has had his third eyelid need surgery & he has needed stitches on his behind (don't let him know I told ya) ..... This cat finds trpouble in all kinds of places! Chase has been my families choice since Dr. Rice in Carver left years ago.... He has seen and cared for many pets over the years and I even saw some chatter on Facebook about him caring for horses..... I would recommend him to anyone! I will say, that in a pinch I called a local vet in Dedham due to my cat's attempts at making friends with another male cat here...... Yep, mine lost!!! and they couldn't see the bruised and battered baby of mine..... so, 45 minutes south to Middleboro i went .... again making me realize how wonderful Chase Veterinary Clinic is and how worth that 45 minutes it is to know he will make time when it is needed! read more

ks ago Doggie Beware I have been going to Dr Chase for many many years. Since Dr Chase sold the business the quality of care, and customer service has been very compromised. It has become a place where making money is their number one goal. They over prescribe expensive medications in high quantities that may not be safe for your pet. They also gave our dog a non-routine vaccination behind closed doors that was not requested or required and was without notice or our permission. $80 was the cost, for something we were not educated about until after it was given and only after we asked. No offer of an apology to speak of. This was an outrage! After 26 years of bring our dogs to the same place year after year, we are going elsewhere. Dr. Chase should have taken his name with him when he retired. One of the original vets remained there and is the only one that represents the original quality of service they once had. read more

I have been bringing my elderly cat there since her last vet retired. We are talking probably ten years or so. During her last checkup they missed an ingrown claw, but when we brought her back they took care of it free of charge. We bring my young cat there now. She had a bad reaction to her vaccines and they talked to me over the phone the next day and when I ended up having to bring her back for fluids and some "kitty Zofran and Benadryl", they did all that free of charge too. It is medicine. It isn't perfect and things happen but they have always been very helpful to us. read more

I don't understand all of the poor reviews of this clinic. My experience here has been amazing. My senior dog came in as an emergency case, I was hysterically crying and had a brand new crying baby with me. The staff took excellent care of my dog and comforted me throughout the entire experience. Dr. Caffarella, the techs and the girls at the desk were warm and welcoming. I had to leave him there for several hours and felt confident in doing so, even though it was our first time there. I've since gone back just for a follow up and some imaging and was met with the same care both times. Dr. Caffarella has taken the extra time to personally follow up with me to explain test results and has shown genuine compassion and care. It's very clear she, and the entire staff here, love animals. I'm really glad i found this practice and would recommend them to anyone. I am livid!! Had an absolute worst experience taking my pup there for the 1st time today!! Never again, that's for sure!!! Staff was rude, careless, unprofessional, and had zero bedside manner. Young vet tech took it upon herself to lecture me on why "raw meat is BAD for the dogs!!!" and proceeded to give me a silence treatment when I asked for rationale to support such uneducated statement. Dog was handled roughly, like an object, with no compassion whatsoever. The vet greeted us already armed with vaccine syringes PRIOR to examining the dog, or discussing any of them with me first, then proceeded to elaborate on the dangers of raw diet ("it's germy!"), AS she started injecting the dog before I could even question any of it. While I thought my pup was getting his rabies and lyme/lepto vaccine, he ended up getting stabbed with an additional and totally unnecessary distemper vaccine, which I showed to them he was up to date with. To say I am pissed is to not say anything!!! This is so NOT OKAY! The front desk staff was hesitant to provide a printout of services rendered, and not overly happy when asked to record today's vaccines into dog's vaccine book; I was told "you can do that yourself!". Great veterinary clinic! I have been Roxcee there for two years and am totally amazed at the lack of sticker shock! Our last vet charged twice as much and could never get an appointment for an emergency. Chase has been wonderful and am so glad the rescue that I got Roxcee from recommended them or I would still be stuck on stupid at my old vet! They have the pet portal so when you need to print out a record for boarding etc, it's easy to get. read more

My family and I have been going to Chase veterinary clinic for almost 30 years. We would always see Dr Chase himself and he is amazing! Ever since he retired I feel like the prices have gone up and the staff cares more  about the paycheck than the animals themselves. The reception staff has always been pleasant, I have nothing bad to say about them. Both Dr. Browns are amazing and almost all of the techs are friendly. I recently had an appointment for my two dogs for their physicals with Dr Capperella. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with this clinic. A male tech with glasses comes out 45 mins after my scheduled appt, which no big deal, I wasn't in a hurry and I understand things happen and sometimes appointments run late. This tech starts taking down some info on my pups. I told him that I want to discuss other options or medication for one of my dogs acid reflux because his current meds aren't working, both dogs anal glands need to be expressed, their yearly shots, a diet plan because they're overweight and one of my dogs has some lumps that I want a needle aspirated done. (This dog has a history of mass cell tumors) A dog's physical is an opportunity to get all concerns checked out and this was what I intended to do. So he takes my pups in as my husband and I are waiting in the truck due to covid restrictions. Dr Capperella calls 30 mins later and says the boys did great with their shots and then she gave me a new med to try for the acid reflux. I asked how they did with their anal glands and she said rather abruptly, "you never asked us to do that". I then said I told the tech while he was out here and she said he never wrote it down. I then said, they really need it done. She sounded annoyed but agreed. She then said she checked the lumps and they were negative. I then remembered there was a concerning spot on his chest that looked like his previous mass cell tumors. She then expressed that she can check but it would put HER appointments behind and I would need to wait a bit. I told her I would wait as long as I need to. (You should never tell a client you are putting their day behind, thats very unprofessional. Also, you were 45 mins late for my appointment and I didn't express any kind of annoyance.) Another 20 mins goes by and I get a call stating the boys anal glands were done. She also said that she couldn't find the spot I was concerned about on my dog. I told her I would be happy to come in and show her or if thats not allowed, I can show the tech if he brings my dog outside. She again sounded very annoyed and said "no...no.. its fine. I'll look again." I was only trying to make it quicker and easier for her but she'd expressed her annoyance yet again. Another 20 mins goes by and I see the tech come out with the boys and he puts them in the back of the truck. I then said, oh good, so she was able to find the spot I was talking about? He said, no.. she wasn't able to find it. So now I'm really annoyed.. this Dr knowing the history of my dog, dismisses my concerns. I then pulled my dog out of the truck and the good boy that he is, laid down and rolled over. I showed the tech the spot and said this, this is what I want a needle aspirated to be done on. And the tech was quiet and you can tell he was annoyed that I would request such a thing, his face said it all. He reluctantly took my dog back in. Another 15-20 mins later I get a call from Dr Capperella with a changed voice (nicer and more compassionate) saying "this spot didn't look like his other lesions but this one came back positive for a Mass cell tumor." I told her it's exactly like his other ones and this was why I was so concerned. I said well I'm glad I went with my gut and sent him back in. She just shrugged my comment off and said, I'm off tomorrow but I'll call you Monday to schedule the surgery.   She never gave me any options, never asked if I was okay with surgery.. what if I couldn't afford it?? The tech brings my pup out and I looked at him and said well I'm glad I pushed for him to have that spot checked because he has cancer again. He showed no care in the world and asked for my payment. Its Thursday now (was supposed to be called monday)...I haven't received ANY calls from Dr Capperella to schedule this surgery. I am so disgusted with how this appointment went. Her lack of concern could have ultimately cost my dog his life. My dogs go yearly for their check ups and who knows what would've happened to him if I didn't speak up and go with my gut. Needless to say... I have found a new vet who seems more concerned for my dogs wellbeing rather than a paycheck. read more

Chase has been great for our 4 cats and our dog. Prompt appointments and great care. Everyone there is kind and loving to our pets. Would take them anywhere else. I wouldn't say Buck, Sunny, Blackie,Charles or Joshuwina like going there, but they are always treated with great care when they are nervous. I would give this veterinary clinic zero stars if I could. They are not compassionate at all. I understand now, with covid, things are more difficult but this business is all about the money and not at all about their patients care or their families. My family has been bringing 4 dogs there for more than 10 years and at the beginning they were compassionate and caring towards their animals but they quickly went downhill after Dr. Chase retired, they never notified anyone that they were sold and boy did we find out the hard way. Our 11 year old golden retriever was not feeling well and her breathing and behavior was really concerning. We called chase on Monday and they told us they couldn't get her in until the end of February. We called again on Friday and they said "the breathing sounds concerning and I wouldn't wait" but then referred us to an animal hospital. They would not even take the time to see her. You would think after spending 10+ years at this vet, with 4 dogs going regularly for check up, we would've received a little compassion. The women that answer the phone are emotionless and eager to get off the phone with you and do not care at all about your situation. They treat animals like it's a transaction and they are nothing more than money makers. Will never go there with our animals again and will tell all of my family members never to go there. read more

I used to be very happy with Chase Clinic; I'm a 20 + year customer. Recently, I find that the vets want to perform numerous expensive tests, rather than check most obvious probable causes and suggest less expensive treatments first. Have they have changed ownership, and now belong to a large conglomerate? It seems like they have strong incentive programs in place; the more the vets rack up charges, the higher their paychecks. They're probably competent practitioners, but given this incentive based approach, I'm ready to take my business elsewhere. read more

Brought my cat there for a check up. Everyone was really friendly. However, my one complaint is that i felt a little rushed because they were such a fast place clinic. I felt like i had to spit out all my concerns before they booted me out the door, and paid $115 for a five minute service. But they did handle my cat with good care so I'll give them that! read more

The vet vaccinated my dog and my dog started throwing up and went completely lifeless I was very scared the vet told me she was just scared told me I could go home but I refused to! She ended up having a terrible reaction and they had to hook her on iv ,vet had not idea until I demanded her to be checked read more

If I could give them no stars it would be perfect!! Have nothing good to say about them. We have had several bad experiences at Chase Vet. but last night was the final straw. My first poor experience was with my 13 year old Chin that was brought in for a cough, only to be treated for an ear infection with meds that caused her to go deaf. When calling about this, I was told by a different vet that she never would have prescribed those ear drops to a dog this old due to side effect of causing deafness...never even said sorry or refunded my money spent on the sick visit nor was the cough treated- total waste of $200!! Now, yesterday my boxer was attacked by a neighbors pit bull and upon frantically calling Chase Vet around 3, they said they had no appointments except emergency ones and it would cost $185 to be seen. I flew there with my injured dog that was bleeding from neck/chest wounds only to be told have a seat and wait. Doctor finally took us in and in less than 3 minutes told us they cant treat puncture wounds and to bring her to West Bridgewater emergency center for treatment and would probably need more than sutures. They did give her a pain med and told us it would be $250 instead of the regular amount of a scheduled appointment. Not sure why they even pulled us in a room since they clearly saw the wounds when we walked in and spoke with the rude receptionists/ vet techs at the front desk that think nothing of trash talking customers when they are sitting right there. I had no choice but to pay them in order to get my dog out of there and over to west bridgwater for medical care. The dog went in for emergency surgery due to the extent of the injuries and brought my out of pocket cost up to almost $1800. I called back to chase after my dog was in surgery and spoke to the office manager and plead my case asking if they could at least refund half the amount of the emergency visit fee since they did nothing and only wasted less than 5 minutes in an exam room with my dog- I was told NO and she also said the doctor that saw my dog agreed with her decision to do nothing for me!! Very poor run business and rude front desk help- they are all about money and not about caring about animals health and being sympathetic!! Stay away at all cost- they are not humane!!! read more

We have been going to this vet for 13 years and really never had a problem. However, our 9 year old boxer/greyhound mix is not doing well at all. I called earlier this week to get them to see him and they wouldn't get me in until Saturday. Today I called and begged them to see him and they wouldn't help us. After 13 years,!!! And we've been loyal customers with eight animals that have gone to them and no exceptions. I just called a new vet in Carver and told them the story and we have an appointment in two hours. I will be transferring all of our records there now. No customer loyalty or concern at all. Who would want people like that taking care of their pets??? read more

Dr. Bernstein is by far one of the best veterinarians we've ever dealt with. My mom and I have been taking our animals to chase vet for 30+ years and sometimes contemplated taking them elsewhere until Dr. Bernstein started there. From dealing with my cat with a fractured pelvis, abscess that got bad and needed to be stiched, random incidents we went through with him, plus an older cat that has frequent uti issues that Bernstein always helped us get her on the right meds right away, also taking care of my 3 dogs over the last few years (one had a tumor that she helped us through the whole process. The dog had to get checked into a major animal hospital and Bernstein continued to call to check in with me, ask me if i had any questions, etc even though we weren't dealing through chase!) Today we had a major scare as my accident prone cat was not himself. After contacting her, she got me right in even though she was supposed to be out of the office for the day. Wow! By the time we got home he was already acting like his normal self and got the antibiotics he needed. She has the biggest heart for animals which makes us trust everything she does or suggests. She truly goes above and beyond! I'm not one to leave reviews but after our little scare today and thinking back on what we've been through I hope she knows how much we appreciate her! read more

Please Read!! I hope this post possibly saves a very ill pet from dying. I used Chase Veterinary Clinic for a Well Visit after receiving an AKC puppy out of state. It was only 8 weeks old and we had gotten her two days prior. We noticed the pup coughing when we picked her up but not too bad. By two days later upon seeing the vet for their first exam they told me that she was totally fine. By the next day, the puppy was very lethargic and lifeless. I called the vets very upset wondering if I should bring her in. Instead of telling me to come in...they basically diagnosed her over the phone and said that they would leave antibiotic drops for her at the front desk for me to pick up later on in the afternoon. About an hour later, I called back and wanted to see if they could have the med ready earlier because I was worried the pup was really sick at this point. When I called back, the front desk woman was so rude. She answered my questions with a question..told me if the dr. said a certain time of day, then that's when I pick it up. I told her how weak the pup was and that i was nervous and all they said to me was that if the meds didn't work, they "might" be able to squeeze me in the next day. After getting off the phone with them for the 2cd time. I decided to take her to the hospital. Upon arriving there, she had a 105 temp, was so sick they told me they had to keep her and run tests. I got a call later on in the day from the hospital saying to me that the pup was so sick she had hardly any white blood cells, she had phenomonia , and kennel cough... they weren't even sure they could save her. She spent the next 3 days in the hospital. But in the end, she made it out ok. I was able to take her home and give her breathing treatments and meds at home to nurse her back to health. I am upset for the way the vet handled my call... they totally dropped the ball too with the puppy seeing as they signed off on her being totally healthy the day before. I would never risk her life with them ever again. Had I not gone with my own instincts to bring her in when I did.... the hospital told me she wouldn't have made it through the night. I can't give these people a good review becuase I think they were horrible with screening emergencies and had 0 compassion over the phone. I plan on calling them in the am to let them know that i will not be using them anymore. There are plenty of really good vets out there...
