We have put up with this apartment complex for 8 months now, and I can't stay silent any longer. Like many of the other reviews, the maintenance responses are horrendous. They either do not respond at all, or they slap a bandaid on a massive problem and call it fixed. The latest saga is pictured below, our upstairs neighbors flooded our unit with piss water and the office/maintenance team has done NOTHING about it for days. We were promised someone would be by to look at it today, and unsurprisingly, nobody came. Our AC unit is broken and our apartment reeks of piss. It's absolutely disgusting. We thought we lucked out with this apartment complex because it's deceptively presented as nice, but we were incredibly wrong. The most upsetting part of all of this, is that we're not even in the unit we were promised originally. Two/three days before moving in, in the middle of a cross country drive from California, we got a call saying our top story unit (that was supposedly available a month prior when we signed the lease) was suddenly not available. They said we could take another unit, or we were out of luck. If we had gotten the unit we originally signed a lease for, we wouldn't be in this situation right now. A good summary of how they handle maintenance here is that, when we moved in, we noticed almost all of the nails in the carpet were sticking up and pricking/stabbing us while we walked. When maintenance FINALLY showed up, the told us "oh just hit them with a hammer yourselves". DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS COMPLEX. read more

No response to maintenance requests. Heat broke in the middle of winter and I was brought a broken space heater. My apartment would not go above 50 degrees. Office staff is not helpful - will enter your apartment without notice before or after. Heard from a neighbor that they were in and out of my apartment several times, I was not told. No security, a bike was stollen of my SECOND floor balcony. Not a safe or comfortable place to call home. Snow removal is also absolutely atrocious. read more

It's been more than 60 days that I vacated the apartment and here we are still chasing you for the security amount with no information about the whereabouts of the cheque. First you said you had not updated the correct information about my new address in your systems and now it's been more than a month you said the new cheque has been sent to my current address and I still have not received it. This is my last reminder to you. If I do not get the check at my current address by the end of this week, I will be taking the legal route. By far the worst apartment complex I've ever lived at. The price is super high and on top of that the management staff is super rude and disrespectful. I lived there for over a year and my military job moved me but I had to get JAG involved for them to release me from my lease. Their reasoning was that they had done a google search and the mileage wasn't far enough. The management was super disrespectful and when I went to the office to talk to them, they always seemed as if they had too much going on to even talk to you. On top of that, the stairways were disgusting with spider webs. There was also no security at the complex. In my first few months here we had issues with way too many things in the apartment for the price we were paying. AC - Older units that can't keep up with the heat. They constantly fail and do not work properly. They blame it on the unit freezing up, but don't blame it on the fact that the units say they are from the 80's and are too small for the apartment units! In our two bedroom you are warm in one room and comfortable in the rest of the room. Hot Water - They keep blaming the tanks, but the real issue has to do with the mixer in the shower itself. I had it replaced in one of the showers and that one works perfectly now. The other one, either scalding hot or freezing cold. I'm just glad that it no longer goes from scalding hot to freezing cold without touching the temperature!! I had to complain and ask outside contractors (family) for information so that I could tell them what to fix. They are "patchwork" only maintenance where they make you feel like they do something, but don't actually do anything. The front office isn't pleasant to deal with either. They are not helpful with noise complaints. read more

Worst place I have ever lived. From extremely unprofessional staff (ALL of them, not just 1 or 2) to maintenance, the grounds, work orders, dog park, corporate etc. Complete nightmare. I've lived in apartments since I was born. Put myself through college and decided I would move here to save money while my husband and I buy our first dream home. Biggest mistake of our lives thus far. We couldn't even last 6 months and had to quickly break our 1-yr lease. No central heat or AC from move in March 22- move out November 22. After 3 months, approaching July, our apartment was not once below 85F, going up to 100F some nights. It wasn't until we threatened to buy our own window units and bill them, someone came in and slapped in a window unit COMPLETELY BACKWARDS. Left dirt and tools on my white $200 bed comforter. Literally used my bed as his workbench. I didn't even complain about this, my dad came in and installed the AC properly and we just kept to ourselves. Even after just asking for one simple job to be completed, the maintenance "manager" ROY walks around saying he hates me and my wife and telling our neighbor friends he "can't stand us". Meanwhile we have a leaking toilet, squishy floors in our bathroom, leaking/clogged dishwasher, a HOLE IN OUR SHOWER, a nonfunctional mailbox that never got repaired, no outdoor lights outside (they're all out), 6 inches of packed up leaves in every yard/parking spot, dog droppings everywhere, dog park is RIPPED up and caked with piss and feces. Meanwhile all work orders were marked as complete and maintenance staff just zip around and rip up the yards in their golf carts. It's.....absolutely jaw dropping. If you care about being comfortable in your living environment, getting your moneys worth and having your living community respect you, it's not Middletown Brooke. read more

Worst apartment complex I've ever seen. Apartments are old, nothing looks clean even if you scrub it with bleach. My apartment wasn't even up to fire marshal code and only had one smoke detector when it was supposed to have 2 and they were told that by the fire marshal and it didn't have a CO2 detector either. Customer service is an absolute joke. God forbid you're a busy person with no time to deal with things they just go ahead and do it for you and they don't even tell you they've done it by way of a courtesy call or message. read more

Everything has been repaired but the communication in the beginning was less than acceptable. Also everything was going great, repairs being completed, items ordered, etc. but then the maintenance manager came up to me while I was outside and said he was replacing the oven as a favor to me. I explained to him I am not looking for any favors but for everything to work as they should. He made it seem like he was doing me a favor and not his job. In the end I am happy with the repairs. Mack is top notch and an asset to their team, the maintenance manager needs to learn some customer service skills. I am very happy here and with the community. Regard how quickly MB makes reference to my 'sensitive and personal' matters. It does have about it the odor of a threat, doesn't it? Not an overt one, of course, but a heavy dusting of one. 'Don't complain too much, we might just tell everyone the details of your "sensitive and personal matters."' Also, note how MB attempts to make it out that its management 'work[ed] through' these so-called sensitive and personal matters. I can assure all concerned that MB's very first action of 'work[ing] through' my only late rent payment (which I paid in full the very day MB issued a notice of late payment) was to threaten legal action against me. The point of this review was, and remains, that the posture Middletown Brooke's management is one of arrogance and antagonism with respect to its residents. I find it particularly galling that, after I have paid all that is due to them, they have responded to my review by making veiled references to my personal affairs. But this, at any rate, supports my point about their antagonistic posture. I consider my point made. So, apartment-hunter, if you have got this far in your research, take careful note: There are certainly more pleasant conditions under which one may choose to live. read more

Our air conditioning stopped working sometime around March/April of this year. We promptly filed a work order, and the response we received from management was something along the lines of "we will fix it later when it starts getting hot out." Now, i am very sensitive to heat, and i often break out in a sweat at temperatures as low as 75° Fahrenheit, so i immediately knew that this delay would be a problem for me. We pestered management about this until they finally sent out a repair team to "fix" the issue sometime in April, but their "fix" broke after only a few days. We continued putting pressure on them to fix our air conditioning, but they kept on sending their own incompetent repair men who would always misdiagnose the issue, and nothing got fixed. Sometime around late May, they finally decided to hire a professional HVAC person to diagnose the problem, and he quickly concluded that the ancient condenser unit was broken and in need of replacement. Management's "solution" to this problem was to plop a temporary unit in our apartment and call it a day. Unfortunately, the temporary unit they gave us is barely powerful enough to cool the room it's in, and even using the apartment's built-in air circulation system in conjunction with a bunch of box fans to move the air around the apartment doesn't seem to help much. Even worse for me is that the only place where there was enough space to put the temporary unit was in my dad's bedroom, which is located on the opposite side of the apartment from mine. This means that my room doesn't receive any of the cool air from the air conditioner on the other side of the apartment. So here we are in late June, over three months after we reported that there was an issue with our air conditioning. Managment seems to think that the temporary unit is good enough, as they have started ignoring our weekly requests to have our central air properly repaired. Meanwhile, the temperature in my bedroom frequently reaches 80°, and we haven't even reached the hottest days of summer yet. All of this could have been avoided if management had acted promptly when we first reported the issue instead of dragging their feet until it was too late. We have lived here for 4 years and we always knew that the management was bad, but in the last few months they have really exceeded our expectations of how bad a managment company could possibly be. Needless to say, we will not be signing another lease and are looking to move out as soon as possible. read more

Shower system sucks here. Its either cold as ICE or hotter than HELL! There is no warm. Have to let it warm up for 10 minutes once it finally gets hot, okay? Then once you get in and its finally hot, it lasts about 3.5 minutes so make sure you do all your shaving in the sink or get nair cause you're not gonna have time for that. Also, the nearest main place to dump your garbage is a good 10 minute walk, so make sure you have a truck. Whatsmore, they dont accept 99.9% of any cool dog breeds. Like all the other reviews say, it takes an unacceptably long time to get a response to any maintenance issue. Our AC has been broken for around a month and I'm still waiting for it to be fixed. I had a maintenance technician in my apartment last week for an unrelated issue (that also took FOREVER to get fixed), and he said that, for some reason, a week and a half after the contractor said I need a new AC, nobody had ever ordered one. He then promised he would and I would have an update by Friday. It's been a week of me emailing daily, and I still have no update on if the AC has been ordered or if it will ever even be fixed. We have other maintenance issues that have just never been talked about (a broken cabinet drawer that we put a request in for MONTHS ago), or some that they basically just told us to deal with. One example is there are staples sticking up (the pointy ends) where the carpet meets the laminate. The person that looked at it told me to just bang them in with a hammer. How is that an acceptable response? They half fix things or just never get back to you about them. This is a terribly managed apartment complex, and I recommend you take your money elsewhere. read more

The office staff is very rude and condensing. They act as if you're a bother and are very antagonistic over the phone. I wouldn't recommend renting here because you will not be treated with respect as a paying resident. read more

These apartments are way overpriced. They also send you a separate bill for trash, sewer, water, and pest every month. They're nice apartments but they're not worth the money. read more

We experience the same thing with this shower issue. Multiple work order requested and the maintenance didn't even do anything. Also watch where you park, your car might be scratched or dented by their golf cart. Just so you know, they will tell you to file a report with local police. It is police job to write a report. I have lived here for several months and from the start i was accommodated very well. I had intially decided on one apartment and i changed my mind to a different unit which they seemlessly helped me with. Compared to my last few apartments in the area. This is by far and away the best. The reason for my review however is because yesterday my ceiling was leaking pretty extensively into my bedroom. I made one call to the office and someone was there within 5 minutes and they did not leave until it was fixed. I could not have been more pleased with the response and the followup. read more

Awful, it has been the worst renting experience I've had. The people in the office are not helpful whatsoever. The maintenance guys are extremely nice however we had an issue with our heat in the middle of winter. It took 4 separate service calls to get it fixed over the coarse of 3 months. The heat never got above 60 even though the thermostat was set at 68. Our gas and electric bills skyrocketed because the heat was constantly running. We went to the office to ask for some kind of credit since it there was an issue with the heat in the apartment they said no. We told them we would be moving out 17 days early but would pay what we owed in rent. We had the electric gas and renters insurance set to end the day we moved out. They said we had to keep paying until the 17th even though they could have someone move in since we have them the keys and told them the date. It's supposed to be dog friendly and yet they sent out an email saying dogs can only go to the bathroom in a certain spot. The pool is constantly closed for cleaning issues, the one time we used it there was a used band aide floating around. We had mice in the apartment multiple times, even with the 2 traps they put up. They never came back to check the traps. Even with this new owner we have had issue after issue with them. All the office staff come of as helpful in the beginning but if you have any issues or questions they are extremely rude. All in all it was just an awful experience read more
