1 star -- A deeply disturbing experience at MidHudson Regional Hospital My husband was admitted to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie on the evening of August 28, 2026, for profuse bleeding from his groin/urethral catheter site and a UTI that was already being treated by his nursing home. I am his legal guardian. This was his seventh hospitalization in approximately 10 weeks for these recurring problems. During his hospitalization, I was asked about another CT scan. I then learned that a CT performed on August 28 had actually been a brain CT. I had not been informed that a brain CT had been performed. The hospital record reportedly listed "altered mental status" as the reason for the brain CT. My husband does become confused/delirious when he develops an infection, and I specifically told the hospital staff that this is what happens to him when he has a UTI/infection. His reason for being brought to the ER, however, was profuse bleeding from the groin/urethral catheter area while being treated for a UTI, not an unexplained neurological problem. I am not saying that a brain CT can never be appropriate for an elderly patient with altered mental status. I am saying that the hospital should be able to clearly explain what altered mental status they observed, when it occurred, what I reported about his infection-related delirium, and why a brain CT was considered necessary in the circumstances. I am also extremely concerned that I was not informed about the CT at the time it was performed. The discharge experience was equally unacceptable. On August 31, caseworker Megan told me my husband was medically cleared for discharge and that an ambulance would pick him up at 2:00 PM. His nursing facility is only about 10 minutes from the hospital. I went to the facility at approximately 3:30 PM to meet him. He wasn't there. I was terrified. Given his condition and his repeated hospitalizations, I feared that he had suffered a medical emergency, had coded, or had been involved in an accident during transportation. I called the hospital and was then told that the pickup time had been changed to 5:30 PM. Nobody had called me to tell me that the scheduled transportation had been delayed by three and a half hours. For a vulnerable patient and his legal guardian, this is not a minor scheduling problem. A guardian should know where a patient is and when he is being transported. The combination of the unexplained brain CT, inadequate communication about significant diagnostic testing, and the failure to notify me about a major change in discharge transportation has completely destroyed my confidence in this hospital. I will never voluntarily take my husband back to MidHudson Regional Hospital. I am filing a formal complaint and requesting an investigation into these events, including the medical indication for the brain CT, the documentation of "altered mental status," communication with his legal guardian, and the discharge/transportation failure. read more

I left a review and deleted it as I feel it is awful to make reviews out of anger. Now that things have settled a bit, I am leaving a true review. It is not much better. This hospital is SEVERELY understaffed!!!! There is no doubt that nurses are running around trying and doing their best and working their tails off (for the most part.). I am aware that this is a level one trauma center. I thought bringing my mother there, she would be in good hands. Not the case. She was left in I. ER for over 36 hours in the hallway. I get it, they were super busy and didn't have a bed. She had to go to the bathroom, we flagged someone down, I heard her say, "she will have to wait". Get that too. They were over stressed. (She is a 78 year old woman with an impaction and a fractured spinal injury). She is out of her mind from all the oxy and muscle relaxers they prescribed her. It was ridiculous! They wheeled her in a wheel chair to the bathroom, left her there and told her to hit the button when she was done. As her daughter, I waited outside after she was wheeled away. I used the same toilet shortly after, there were SEVERAL dried blood streaks streaming down the bowl! I was HORRIFIED!!! Clearly they had been there for a while, I hovered over the toilet, my mom clearly sat on it! I can't even get into the ridiculous details about her nurse, whom told her I was being mean to him as I tried to find out information about her admission, high on over prescribed drugs, she told him not to give me any info about her. I am her healthcare proxy and power of attorney. That is the short version. In her discharge appears, they referred her to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon!!!! She is 79 years old, not a child and needs a neurosurgeon!!! Thank god, she has a good GP that referred her to a good neuro and changed her meds that they prescribed her that had her back in the RR impacted and out of her mind!!!!! She is much better now. I am traumatized by this experience at this hospital and pray to god I NEVER EVER have to visit for ANYONE ever again! read more

The staff were wonderful to my husband and made an extremely stressful experience feel easier. I was not worried when I had to leave for the night because I felt like he was in great hands. They were welcoming at each step and gave us the time to explain the next steps. They were personable and professional. read more

Took my daughter to this ER. This was one of the worst ER experiences I have ever had. I drove two hours to help my daughter, who was suffering from excruciating head pain. She was placed in a hallway in a chair and left there for hours without being attended to. After waiting more than four hours, I went to the nurses' station to address the lack of care. It is unacceptable that no one checked on her during that time. Shortly afterward, several nurses gathered and began discussing me. One nurse, who was tall and wearing pink scrubs, rudely threatened to have me removed for "disruption." I was not disruptive; I was advocating for my daughter, who was in severe pain. The behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful. Patients and their families deserve timely care, communication, and basic courtesy. read more

If zero was a possible rating, this fithy place, eins awards for rats, roaches, dust bunnies lining the hallways. Over worked staff, whom rarely show they are paying attention to the needs of the patient. The "nicer" building in photographs, is not for patients, it's for PR. Hospital was sued for 120 million, at the "better" location. Due to caring for many older relatives, never been in such a dirty place. Chicago, NYC, to Florida, all took better care of my family. Frankly, wouldn't let them care for a cat. Shameful to call this a "working" hospital. Save you time, get to Vassar, if in that area. They took wonderful care, after my father's stroke on Christmas Eve. Cold Spring's ambulance service, deserves special mention for their incredible care, 3 flights of steep stairs to carry him. They literally saved his life, as was due for surgery, in Chicago. Vassar foubd an infection, treated it, thus he survived the operation. Deep thanks to the ambulance ER team. I was hospitalized three times in two years for the same issues and to this day do not have an understanding of why these health conditions occurred and persist. The doctors behave as if they are annoyed that they're being asked questions, with the exception of two specialists. The hospital staff were mostly friendly enough until the night shift which brought change of nursing staff who never responded to the call button, seldom checked on patients and who were so loud that I could hear them laughing down the hallway. The rooms and halls were dirty and the food unidentifiable and nearly inedible. I had never been sick before this, so I cannot speak to the quality of other hospitals, but I can definitely say that Mid Hudson Regional would not be the hospital that I would recommend to friends or family. read more

A friend of mine had surgery at this hospital. They don't have enough staff . I watched the poor helpless patients ring for nurses and there are simply not enough staff. Who is that. ? Also on weekends it's a real ghost town. There is no one to answer calls inquiring about you loved ones. They stop valet service on the weekends. How plain stupid is that. Also they have one person at the front desk to check you in Avoid this poorly run hospital They don't have a complaint site to write to them. They want you to call. Really. Same day surgery receptionist is rude and has no bedside manners other than trash. The OR waiting room was disgusting and the bathroom outside was the same and has not been clean in days if not weeks. The only good experience was from the Surgeon himself. Family member was admitted into the emergency room. The ER was incredibly busy that day, but we were well taken care of. Staff was Miles better than compared to Vassar. Nurses have more of a personal touch versus their counterparts at the local hospitals. read more

FILTHY. The additional star is because medical staff has had a horrific 20 months during COVID. I was brought in by ambulance( that's another review) for severe pain following recent kidney stone surgery. I knew what was wrong with me when I was compelled to call an ambulance. The ambulance pulled up to the ambulance pier and walked me through the emergency room where I was essentially abandoned to the emergency room waiting room. No one came to check on me after the ambulance driver took my signature, presumably so they could get credit for bringing me to the emergency room. They were only a handful of people in the waiting room, each getting triaged and cared for, except me. I managed to get over to the reception window and asked when I might be seen. Receptionist was lovely and claimed no one had told her I was brought in by ambulance and they were not aware of who I was. It took a while longer to get triaged by a pleasant nurse, ( Alyse?), then finally I was brought into an ER room where I was left for a while. SANITATION PROTOCOL IS LACKING: During the next five or six hours until 4 o'clock in the morning, I received intermittent care usually by UNGLOVED staff: The nice young lady who took my vitals used a disheveled and unkempt cart. The connections and cuffs were literally DRAGGING ON THE FLOOR. The nurse who inserted my IV dropped one of the port tubes on the floor, picked it up and inserted it. The technique caused blood and I could feel the needle was in the wrong position. GLOVES and hand sanitizing us non existent: Even the doctor did not wear gloves and NOT ONE PERSON WASHED OR SANITIZED their hands when they came in or left my ER "room". HONORABLE MENTIONS: In fairness, commendation should go to two staffers: the person ( Joe) who brought me to the radiology, and the CAT scan technician. ( also Joe). COMMUNICATION FAILURES: At some point, staff claimed that they did not speak with my on-call surgeon and communicated to him that I was free of pain so his advice was to discharge me. With the doctor failed to communicate to the on-call at my medical practice was that he asked me if I was free of pain while I was on pain medication and seem to under play the part where I had an obstruction which was causing the severe pain. Being so close to the holidays one needs to wonder if they just wanted to go home. I eventually tracked down the on-call physician who gave me two options: admit me or send me home with pain medication that is listed in my chart as an allergen to me. Knowing how dirty the emergency room was and how lacks their hand sanitizing was, I was not comfortable being admitted despite my pain. I will never voluntarily ask to go to the emergency room services at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital until they decide to clean up their act. Don't villainize me because our healthcare workers are working very hard all across this nation and world to combat Covid. Even more reason why the hospital should be immaculately kept and why simple sanitizing practices should be second nature. read more

They traumatized both my mother and my sister when they were just trying to get my sister a physical check up back in august, as a gradual start to get her to recover with her mental health that she struggles with, just to make sure she was at least doing ok physically. They saw that she was having mental issues and INSTANTLY transferred her to the mental unit, where she had a previous horrifying experience. No questions asked, literally zero consent whatsoever, completely against their will, she was put in the mental unit. They took their phones, their wallets, their keys, all their belongings. They forcibly took my sister's phone from her whilst she was on the chair in a fetal position because of everything that was happening around her (screaming, banging, etc.) she had headphones in (probably listening to music to help her calm down) and then they had the audacity to gaslight the everliving hell out of my mom, saying a bunch of nonsense like "oh, she's not having a mental breakdown, look at her, she's nice and calm" while she was in a FETAL POSITION ON THE CHAIR. Not a single ounce of sympathy. I swear they got their PhD from a damn cereal box. They locked them in there for 8 HOURS where they witnessed all sorts of horrifying stuff and where my sister got re-traumatized, and even my mom got traumatized. My poor mother was only trying to get help for my struggling sister to get her back on track and get her life together again, and they just made it a billion times worse. They did all that, knowing that she was struggling with her mental health, knowing the potential effects that what they were doing would have on her, and knowing how fragile her mental state was, and now her and my mom's relationship is worse than ever before. She trusted her, and after the horrifying incident at this place she yelled at her about how terrible of a person she is. There is no way she will ever trust her again. They both cried for days after. My mom even almost cried telling me this story over a month later. Not to mention now I'm actually worried sick about my sister because of this. They single-handedly tore my family apart. The monsters that run this wasteland should be condemned to the deepest core of hell for the way they dehumanize anyone they find to be mentally ill. I went to this hospital hoping to seek medical attention fairly quickly, except I ended up waiting for longer than I should have-- I could barely walk to my room by the time the nurse called me. I then got placed in a room with other beds, which I would not have normally minded, except the people next to me were visibly mentally unstable and I felt extremely unsafe. The first person would not stop screaming and calling the nurses slurs, the second person after them kept getting out of bed, so the nurses attempted to restrain them, only for them to get aggressive, so security was called. This person started panicking and kept trying to walk towards and grab me. While all of that was going on, I barely got fed, mainly because they forgot to accommodate to my special diet. (I was there for two days, and only get fed once, everybody else got fed at least six times.) Also, the doctor who gave me my second EKG (because the first one wasn't done correctly apparently) kept rudely bragging about how he knew the most about hearts, and how he was the best cardio specialist on the planet, and how everybody else was inferior to him, and so on and so forth. At one point during my first night, I woke up to violent screaming at around three in the morning. The screaming only ceased after an hour because I could hear security dragging the screaming individual out. After the screaming individual was dragged out of the hospital, I saw an uncovered dead body get rolled in front of me by nurses. The body was pale and had what appeared to be Rigor-Mortis in the right arm. Like I said, the body was completely uncovered and rolled by patient rooms. The next day, a nurse was explaining to another healthcare worker why I was there, and after I could clearly hear her explaining my condition and what happened, the healthcare worker said to the nurse that I was a 'retard', due to what had happened to me. The nurse then nodded and looked directly at me. I would not go here if I was violently bleeding to death. 0/10. read more

The worse ER ever. I was admitted Oct 2 at 5 am by ambulance. Ems workers had to make bed. 35 minutes unattended then an extremely nasty unprofessional nurse came in to take vitals. Pediatric (16 year old) trauma admission for a severe concussion. The pediatric wing is sparkling new and clean, well staffed (and friendly!) and vastly better than the hospital in Kingston (Health Alliance). I am very glad my son was transferred here. The care and the food, surprisingly, were EXCELLENT. A private room with a sofa bed allowed me to stay by his side. If we are ever in this predicament again before he turns 18 we will go directly to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital! read more

Honestly, I never write these reviews but I make an exception here. I believe no one at this facility has any awareness of how poorly this "hospital" is run. The management is somehow disconnected from the issues and seems to be uninterested in the quality of care here. Vassar seems more focused and concerned about patient-centered care. If you have a choice run away as fast as you can to Vassar or even better Garnet in Middletown if at all possible. The leadership team here has destroyed the morale and doesn't seem to provide any sense of mission or purpose to the team here. read more

I would give this hospital no stars if I could. The doctor in the emergency room had no interest in caring for me. This was apparent in the initial way he approached me. Very sarcastic, no eye contact. Did not want you to answer my questions or even listen to me about anything. This was the worst emergency room visit that I have ever experienced. I brought my father here last Monday as he was having a stroke, and I must say the care he is receiving is exemplary! We had no wait in the ER and there was just a flurry of doctors and nurses attending to him as soon as he was brought back, making sure every possible test and vital sign was checked at least twice by each person. Once he was brought to his room the experienced nursing staff almost seemed to know what he needed before he did himself! If I could give this Hospital zero Stars I would. Every room I have been in since I got here was freezing cold, most of the time it seems like the staff is doing you a favor by helping you move about. And you're really just a Big inconvenience to them. The food is horrible, I am not on a special diet but they decided it was a good idea to put me on a renal diet, and then decided no we'll put them on a diabetic diet period even though I'm not on a special diet at home, and my doctor has put in the order twice to change it to a regular diet somehow, the order has never gone through. I have sleep apnea, they won't let me bring my machine from home because of Covid regulations. I tried to use their sleep apnea machine, but it caused my sinuses to dry out and start to bleed. They tried using a respirator as a sleep apnea machine, but it is so uncomfortable that I could only sleep for an hour or two at a time. I have complained repeatedly that I need my machine from home, and they have still refused. You could bet if I was somebody rich and famous I would be in a private room and allowed to use my own private machine. But apparently whether or not I sleep is really not all that important here. Besides the food being pretty much tasteless garbage, they can't even get my actual order correct ever. How am I supposed to eat the foods that I need to eat when they won't give me the foods that I want to eat? They tried to give me medication that I don't normally take, and I don't even need. And perform tests on me that are also unnecessary. Up until today I was on a heart monitor, but now that I'm not on a heart monitor, they want to do a daily EKG test on me. Trying to milk the insurance company I guess. I also have diabetes and when I'm home I use my freestyle Libre sensor to check my blood sugar before each meal, and then I give myself a medicine that I take before meals that does not involve a shot. Because I refuse to let them stick my finger to test my blood, they tell me that the insurance will not cover medicine to keep my diabetes in check. Even though the system I am using to check my diabetes is an FDA approved device, and my insurance pays for it outside of the hospital. I just had two people try and convince me that I need an EKG I don't believe it's necessary. Their argument was the insurance is going to pay for it, my argument is I don't believe it's necessary. why are they trying to force procedures on me that are not necessary? It's all about the bottom line here more money they can get from the insurance company to happier they are . Devil may care who gets hurt. Also, if you are a larger size person such as I am, do not expect to be comfortable on the bed in the emergency room, don't expect to be comfortable on the bed if you go to a critical care unit or a progressive Care unit, The beds are horrible. read more

Perfect experience last week having an endoscopy with Dr. Gaddam as a day surgery patient. I went in afraid and skeptical after reading other reviews, but my care was flawless. Every person I encountered, and there were about 5-8 from admission thru wheeling me out to my car, was competent and caring. I'll admit that I'm a downstate medical care snob, believing that I'm going to nyc or Long Island for anything serious, but my care was truly excellent. Also, the entire facility was perfectly clean, and I used both restrooms in the patient area. Loved the fancy paper gowns that allow hot to cool air to be blown in as I'm always cold. Every person asked me to confirm my name and birthdate before treating me and I was asked when I ate or drank last at least 4 times to ensure I was safe to proceed with the procedure. Horrible facility. Staff is uncaring, unmotivated and uninformed. Daughter spent 60 hours here without any care whatsoever. None of the staff knows what's going on around them and they don't care. I went into the ER for a psych evaluation and I was treated like I was nonexistent from the staff, nurses, aides. I had a rough day and went in willingly after feeling down, a struggle with suicidal ideation... and the experience i had there made a crappy day that much worse. I was there for so many hours without being offered water, simple water. I had to wear a gown but they didn't have a proper undergarment size for me that came with the gowns, which is ridiculous, and forced me to wear the small one or simply have nothing on underneath while surrounded by people. the gown barely covered my thighs. my nurse straight up lied to me when I asked if my significant other's number was taken down On the initial entry forms, so I was there without any way to contact the only person who would be able to bring me my belongings. I couldn't remember his phone number by heart, but still they should have it down. It was the social worker who said it is on the paper and gave it to me to call. This was 5 hours after I had last asked. There were patients who just needed someone to talk to. one young kid decided to share his story with a staff member, why he was there and she straight up ignored him like his voice didn't matter. I understand they have priorities but the kid was distressed and the staff member was just sitting there, not attending to anything. The head nurse was extremely rude to me when I told her I have to speak to the psychiatrist again, assuming I was lying, not letting me even speak at first, (when it was my turn to talk she spoke over me) when the fact is the social worker put it down in her notes that I am to speak to the doctor again, who was making rounds that morning. I can't tell you how detrimental it would have been to not speak to the doctor again, I would have been there longer! Unnecessarily. And patients were yelled at if they walked around to get some blood flowing. we are kept in a confined space. Scrutinized if we even got up from our assigned seating. my legs were so wobbly from the time I left, from not being able to move the 30 hours I was there! So how was all this suppose to make me feel better ? No food, no water, no movement, a rash forming cause of the small underwear... I don't get it. the psychiatrist himself and the social work team were great, but the rest of the staff I encountered, were unbelievably rude, trying to establish their superiority over patients as opposed to hearing them out. Actually limiting patients access to those who can and are willing to help cause they don't want to be seen as wrong. Ignoring their cries for basic needs like water. in a society that already marginalizes those who struggle with mental health, it is so important for hospitals to provide a safe space when they seek the help they need, and deserve! I was appalled at how some of us were treated. I was discharged and even that took about three hours for them to print the paper for me to sign. I can't stress enough how crucial it is to be able to advocate for yourself, or at least have someone there to advocate for you. If not, you're left to waste away. It sucks that's the reality, cause a hospital should put patients needs above a severely broken system. read more

We will be filing a formal complaint to the health department after last nights fiasco. My fiancé has a history of anxiety and panic disorder, however he is treating it on his own time with his own therapist/psychologist. Yesterday afternoon, (3/6/2022) around 3pm, I dropped him off to be checked out over a reoccurring fever, nausea, and just general flu like symptoms. This was not the first time this week he went to Mid Hudson's ER over the same symptoms. Each time, they have diagnosed him with something else and provided 0 results or answers. One nurse, gabby, severely dropped the ball on this one. Around 7pm, he calls me frantically to please come to the hospital. They made me wait 3 hours to see him and kept telling me I couldn't. The woman at the registration desk is one of the most incompetent people I've ever seen. She told me my fiancé wasn't even in the hospital and that she couldn't help me. She followed up later with I'm just not allowed to see him. Nobody provided me an answer as to why. At the 3rd hour, she told me to just wait and someone will be with me... nobody was for another hour. Finally, one nurse dragged me back to a psych area where I see they have stripped my fiancé of all his belonging and have him in a blue paper suit. For hours we begged for an answer as to why he's in this unit over a fever. Their answers were all different. He went from being a "flight risk" to "self danger". In all of ours years together, he has never expressed any desire to harm himself or others. He never expressed leaving the hospital. He just wanted his blood work to find the cause of this never ending fever. Nurse Nina threatened him stating "we can do this the easy way, and you sit and wait, or we can do this the hard way and security will come restrain and sedate you". Pretty noble claim to make to a man who shouldn't be there in the first place. Nurse hani was the only competent individual trying to get answers. We were placed in a room Hani was in charge of and staff scolded him for speaking with us... it was his department. Hani was the only one vouching for answers as to why my fiancé was in this situation. I was advised to speak to gabby in regards to this situation since everyone claimed she was the reason we were here. Upon my discovery, she went home and I was approached by nurse Lisa. This woman needs her RN license revoked. What a husk of a miserable being. She asked who I was and when I stated fiancé she scoffed in my face and said "that means nothing legally". After asking what the issue was, she proceeded to lie about the admission and followed up with "he was throwing himself on the floor saying he was dying, you tell me where he should be". This was out of line and never happened. She proceeded to claim his fever and flu symptoms are results of his anxiety and shoo'd me away with her hand. I was shocked and appalled. Finally we demanded a supervisor and expressed the situation, she also told us we had to stay until a psychiatrist was in, this could be 24-48 hours. They were holding my fiancé against his will over a mistake one of their nurses made. I got my lawyer on my phone and expressed the situation... suddenly the supervisor was eager for answers and managed to get him a psychiatric appointment within the hour. Even the psychiatrist questioned why he was there and immediately stated to let him go. Suddenly Nina was bringing us water and snacks, completely changing her attitude the second legal action was mentioned. It took us another hour for them to get his items together, since they took everything, went through his bag, and dispersed the contents among 4 different departments. Even as we were leaving, a doctor claimed to have called me and asked why I didn't call back. I showed rhem my phone records and she followed up with, and I quote, "oh! I put you down for the wrong person. Oh well, someone else must've gotten the voicemail." How dangerous and incompetent. That's a very very lethal mistake to make when speaking about psychiatric care. However, nobody would provide the full name of this gabby person who got us into this mess in the beginning. They are hiding something, there is a very deep unethical vibe to this building. Nobody communicates. We will be filing to the state department against everybody involved in the manor for mishandling of information, lack of proper service, incompetent handling of sensitive material, lack of information, unprofessional behavior, and many more. What happened to us last night was an eye opener that this facility need to be heavily investigated. read more

I'm giving it 4 stars. The higher rating is solely based on the people who work there. I was hit by a car walking in a parking lot. The ER team was great. I had my problem diagnosed early and accurately. I was kept overnight and the nursing staff was awesome, especially Lisa and Sue on the sixth floor. They cared. As did Monty and Chanel. The evening ortho doc was great to talk too. The the chaplain was lovely to speak with. The downside? Process driven. They couldn't give me a walker to take home because it was a Sunday and their vendor couldn't process insurance of the person that struck me. So my wife had to buy a Walker and assemble it in the pharmacy on the way home. And now scheduling my follow up surgery at an affiliate hospital is a bit uncoordinated on their end. But their billing department called me already to make sure they had our insurance on record (eye roll). read more

I was to have a 6 mo followup mammo due to issues, first they changed the appt 4 times, then told me that there was NO doctor there to read it as she was in Valhalla, really?????? asked me to wait as they were sending her the film, then came back and said that I may need a ultrasound, after 1 hr I left as they could not get thru to the doctor, seems she as seeing appts???? I then called the next day to make an appt for a ultrasound as there seems to be an issue, first stressing due to the 6 mo mammo appts being cancelled and now this! So I made an appt, oops no go, so made another and guess what I got a call again rescheduling - why ? because they only have ONE radiologist and she's not available, in the meantime, I'm stressing out and there better not be any big issue or else. I have decided I will find another place to go and recommend more do so !!!! read more

Organized chaos. Extreme lack of professionalism. I totally understand staffing covid etc but the treatment received was intolerable. They had the wrong chart! They can't even keep their patients straight, this cost needless suffering. Was kept at an ER room for 4 days! Under no circumstances what I recommend this facility ever. read more

This hospital should be embarrassed for the way they treat people. Cooke is specifically just not supervised. Seeing a dr here is impossible. They do their 'rounds' but never actually come into the rooms and pass messages from nurse to nurse. Even the nurses roll their eyes saying 'hopefully you'll see a dr' I have never seen anything like it and I fear any patient that is here. We tried to move to Vassar but insurance will not let us. The food they provide is full of corn syrup, additives and nothing real. read more

Customer service is awful here. The staff who answer phones are rude. The front desk staff of employee health are incompetent. The hospital should invest more time in customer service skills. Makes me wonder if applying at this facility is worth it. read more

I had surgery there. I will never come back to this hospital again. I was supposed to have surgery at 12:30 pm due to humidity in operating room had to wait until 4pm. Never heard from that. I liked the nurses that prepared you for surgery they where very nice. My nurse was Lisa she was great. My Operating room nurse was Great also don't know her name. I get into recovery. Nurse was very cold and had no compassion now I know why her name tag was on backwards so her name wasn't showing. Short Indian woman dark long hair up in a ponytail that's all I know about her. She just treats Patients like a slab of meat coming off a conveyor belt . My throat was sooo dry due to the breathing tube they had down my throat . I asked for some water. Never gave me any water was in pain I got pain meds. That's when I received a Dixie cup of water. I sat in recovery room from 5:30 aprox. Until around 8:45 pm waiting to get a room. Mind you this surgery was scheduled should a room been scheduled also? I get to the room the pain started coming back I asked again for Something mind you I don't request narcotics only high dose of ibuprofen. I wait from 9pm until 2:30am for dang ibuprofen. My room didn't have any tissues nor did it have any soap to was my face. We had towels though. We had to use them for the floor due to the toilet leaking from the bathroom to my room. Disgusting and it's supposed to be clean a room. My husband wouldn't leave due to a patient screaming and saying threatening things. I didn't sleep all night after my surgery I was to nervous didn't know what what man was capable of doing. Two security guards had to go to his room. They only had one nurse on the entire floor. If someone was in distress forget about it. That patient was on there own. I might need another operation I am going to Vassar hospital. They are much nicer the rooms don't look like inmate cells. And there are chairs for visitors. Unlike this hospital. As soon as my doctor comes in I'm am telling him to release me or I'm signing myself out. He said one night and that's all I can take in this hospital. I really wish I had a better experience like I had at Vassar hospital. What a nightmare it was here. They have a long way to go . Just because they changed the name doesn't make them better it takes alot more to run a hood hospital. They need to update everything every thing is so old and outdated. Especially the patient rooms. read more

The last time we went to Midhudson Regional Hospital ER, our urine sample was taken in the ER placed on the floor and never picked up or checked by the lab. The ER staff was not friendly and when we asked for vomit bags they said they had none. The place was absolutely horrible and we had no attention given to us. We had to sit outside of a room where a hospital sitter spent her time yelling at a psychiatric patient to stay in bed. We listened to this for hours as we were placed outside this patients room in a chair to wait for a nurse or doctor to attend to us. It wasn't until we decided that we were leaving and walked out of the ER that everyone decided to pay attention to us. Never going back there again! How does an ER not have vomit bags for patients who are vomitting. How do they place uncontaminated urine samples on a contaminated floor? In addition, the ER was dirty and un-inviting. I went in to be treated for a head injury due to me not being able to stay up or walk and thanks to the ER team they informed it was due diabetes which I had no idea I had. Everyone who I came in contact with-too many to name-gave me the optimal care. Id recommend this place over any other hospital in Poughkeepsie hands down. read more

My husband was taken to the ER by ambulance on 1/27/24. They discovered he had pneumonia and sepsis. He was put into a room the next day and was there until the night of 2/2/24 when they discharged him. My husband was physically shaking and I asked the nurse if his temp was OK. The nurse's response was that my husband hadn't eaten all day so that was probably why. Pt had seen him a couple of times. He couldn't get in the car because he was too weak to stand and fell. Long story short, a wonderful male nurse got him into the car. Got my husband hone. I took his temp and it was 94!! I bundled him up in bed with blankets and hot packs. Next morning his temp was fine but he was clearly not well. High glucose, low bp, sweating. I called 911 and they took him to vassar hospital. They had to intubate my husband. He was suffering from septic shock and pneumonia! He is now in ICU. Why was he discharged from mid hudson? Unbelievable. We always went there but no more. It's gone downhill. I called patient services about this and, of course, no one answers the phone. I left a msg telling them what I think and to call me. No call back. Don't bother going to mid hudson regional hospital if you want to get well . read more

My father is currently a patient there, and it has been an awful experience for the past few weeks. First off, none of the doctors are on the same page we're getting conflicting responses from each of them. They are pressuring my dad to go to go on hospice despite him, saying multiple times to different people that he's not ready for hospice. They have pressured him to do a DNR. They are refusing to transfer him to a hospital closer to home. this hospital is in the same WMC network. our father along with our family have asked numerous people for weeks now to transfer him. If in fact he is dying the family wants to spend as much time with him as possible at the hospital that is located where we live instead of having to drive 40 minutes everyday to see him. Our family is willing to pay out of pocket for the ambulance to transfer him and they are still not willing to accommodate this request. This hospital doesn't care about patient rights. The quality of care is awful. I would never recommend sending your loved one to this hospital. this experience has been a nightmare during a time that is already difficult enough for my father and our family. read more
