There is an older gentleman in the pro shop where you get carts, etc. He is very rude. Not friendly at all. I've encountered him at least four times and each time was unpleasant. I'm not the only one. He is abrupt with everyone. This is a sandy course with a lot of pine trees so there lots of pine needles everywhere. So much you lose the cart path. I didn't see a lot of maintenance workers clearing them. I've been to a lot of courses since my daughter started playing golf years ago and this one isn't my favorite. At these prices, I would think there would be a higher level of comfort. There are no cart path signs and they desperately need them. You sometimes have no clue where to drive your cart. There is one restroom along the course at hole 7. There are water stations along the path. Watch where you drive! We got our cart stuck and I had to push it out. The carts need work. Ours would break properly and it kept beeping. This was our second cart. The first one we picked wouldn't accelerate. If you plan on walking, plan for lots of hills.

What we experienced at Longleaf Golf & Family Club was beyond disappointing--and frankly unacceptable for $150 per person. There were no real fairways--just brown, patchy ground with little to no grass. On multiple par 3 holes, we had to hit off mats, like we were at a driving range instead of a course charging premium rates. Even worse, the course had active construction happening throughout. We had to play around excavators, dump trucks, and heavy equipment in several areas. At one point, large construction vehicles were using the cart paths while we were trying to play. It wasn't just frustrating--it felt unsafe. None of this was communicated ahead of time. Had we known the true conditions, we never would have booked. Instead, we paid full price for what was a severely compromised and substandard experience. The only positives: the gentleman who helped with our bags was outstanding, and the young woman at the turn was friendly and professional. They did their jobs well--but they couldn't make up for the overall experience. If you're considering playing here, I strongly recommend you do your homework first. This was not the Pinehurst golf experience we traveled for. #Pinehurst #GolfTrip #GolfReview #Disappointed #GolfLife

The only thing that makes it interesting is the Donald Ross design. From the very beginning, our group of 12 was not impressed at all. There are no directional signs to parking or bag drop. When you walk up to the Club House you are immediately confused on where to go. There will be carts parked in the front and a big sign that says 'Cart Return'. There was no one there to answer questions or greet us. The two guys in the club house would win the prize for dour personality and sour disposition. The course is poorly maintained and unimpressive. There are few signs along the course that will designate the next tee boxes. Poorly maintained fairways and worse tee boxes. The only reason we played this course was that it's in the Top 100 Golf Digest ranking and a Donald Ross Design. The ladies in the Club House Restaurant and Bar must be new. They had no idea of what questions to ask. The first being are you starting or ending your round? After all it is a golf course. They had an attitude with our group of 12 and kept asking if we wanted a table. Someone in our group said 'we are all here to play golf and have a tee time in 20 minutes so we are on the clock. Her response was 'well I guess you could have said this was a to go order'. It was clear there was little training and these ladies were not happy. They certainly added no value to our experience. They made multiple errors on our orders and we were all frustrated and ready to get out of there as soon as possible. Skip this location as there are so many better options in the area.
