Today, was my FINAL shopping experience at Burney. I had purchased a few screws for a project a week or so ago and didn't need them. Today, I tried to return them and buy some more items. I thought I had the receipt in the bag but I did not seem to have it with me. I asked if I could return them without the receipt. The total for the four screws was a whopping .82. I was told that they couldn't return them without the receipt as they have hundreds of SKU numbers and they wouldn't know which one I was returning. This made logical sense until I looked at my bag a little further. The gentleman that helped me pick out the screws didn't seem to write down the SKU number on my bag! How was it rung up when I purchased it? I assume by some generic key that charged me the .82, the same generic key that could have refunded my .82! Sorry Burney you lost me for good over this one, shame on your staff!

The tech called Stihl and sent them pictures trying to get them to deny doing the warranty. The saw had a scratch from where it sits on my trailer. The tech told Stihl I did some crazy stuff when he didn't even know. So Stihl denied it. I called Stihl and they told me they don't know why the tech called and sent them pictures trying to get it denied but they said yea clear warranty problem. I've emailed the store several times trying to speak with a manager and the won't respond. They kept my saw for two months before they called me and said we can't fix under warranty. Now I have to take saw to different shop out my area. Sorry place. Hate I spent so much money there

Over the past month I spent approximately $2000.00 at Lowe's. I purchased a refrigerator and landscape blocks and then on 30th I spent approximately $500.00. I won't be going back there and will recommend to my family and friends not to purchase from there. Your employees represent your company so you would think they would be more interested and polite.

This is as historical as it gets in the Sandhills and I enjoy it every time I see it. From their website: The Shaw House is typical of the antebellum houses which followed the cabins of the early Sandhills settlers. It is less elaborate than the seacoast plantations and has the charm and sturdy simplicity which was characteristic of the Scottish families who settled in this region. The interior is highlighted by fine detail on two hand-carved fireplace mantels of unusual beauty, and by many outstanding early examples of Moore County pottery and "plain-style" pine furniture. A wing was added to the house in the mid-1800s and a kitchen was added sometime in the 1920s. Charles C. Shaw, a first-generation Scottish settler, acquired 2,500 acres and built the house around 1820. The date of 1842 on the chimney is thought to have been the year that the front porch and the two attached "travelers' rooms" were added. One of his 12 children, Charles Washington Shaw, inherited the property and lived in the house, becoming the first mayor of Southern Pines in 1887. The house remained in the Shaw family until it was acquired in 1946 by the newly formed Moore County Historical Association in a grassroots effort to ensure its preservation.

There is a parking lot in the front of the museum and admission is just $4. The museum is much larger than it appears from the outside. If I remember correctly, it is 4900 sq feet, so there is a lot to see and read. The museum covers a lot of topics from local history and industry to rocks and minerals to Native Americans to taxidermied animals in all parts of the world. There is a large section devoted to Andre the Giant who made his home on a farm in Ellerbe. The exhibits are very thorough with the artifacts so you will learn a lot. I was impressed with the diversity of the exhibits. I didn't know that the French Wrestler and Actor lived in the small town of Ellerbe but it was great to read about his life and he chose to have his ashes scattered in Ellerbe. I highly recommend visiting the Rankin Museum.

If you like local history, there are key pieces here that the state museum wanted (and was disappointed they couldn't secure). If you're into Pop Culture, the Andre the Giant exhibit is a nice treat to see, with his enormous rings, and a number of other wrestling mementos. The woman who worked here took the time to show us around, explain the history of all the pieces, and told us the wonders of the town. If you're looking for a way to break away from the highway, and explore a one-stoplight-town then this is the place for you to check out. There's also a kid zone here, with some fun brush away the dirt, and reveal the fossil pieces.
