X-Ray technician was awful. She gets me from the room not walked in front of me and didn't event demonstrate what she wanted and how to place my leg "against the board." She just said "put your leg on the board" and walked to some small room in the back. I'm standing in front of this "board" with the back of my leg on the board. She walks out of the small room and just looks at me. No words. Just looks. So I assumed she was waiting for me to reposition it. I do and start moving it, she said "I said against the board." I asked her how and she begrudgingly showed me. I then said "oh with an arch." She says nothing. She then tells me to "bend my leg." She is standing so close to me that I can't move my left one so I'm not falling over. She taps the belt I had on me prior to showing me how to position myself. Inappropriate. She senses I'm upset. She asks if I'm okay. I say no. I told her she has not been demonstrating and she said "if I knew you didn't understand English, I would've gotten you someone." I about lost it. It was about 3 times during those X-rays that I almost walked out of the office completely. She started to gaslight me trying to change the sequence of events. No I know the order of what happened first. No bedside manner whatsoever. Will not be going back. read more

If I could give a zero star, I would. 8735 S. Merrion Lane Hometown, IL. Black lady with braids is so rude & unprofession. I suffer with chronic pain and have 2 small tears in my rotator cuff. I came in today 2/13/23 to have the 2nd of three cortisone injections. The pain is so unbearable. Instead of them just rendering medical service to me, they refused my appointment because I wouldnt allow them to automatically take fundings from my debit card or give them $300 in cash. Im on a fixed income, and I pay my debt when I can so I can not allow Midland Orthopedic to just randomly go into my account and randomly withdraw monies that are meant for other more urgent bills like ,mortgage, electric, phone etc. I was refused medical attention because I wouldn't allow Midland Orthopedic to have access to my bank account. I will be reporting them to the IDPH read more

I initially made an appointment in with Midland Orthopedic Associates due to my chronic back pain. This was in 2014. I saw Dr. Robert Strugala. He is honest, very professional. He made me feel at ease due to his calm demeanor. He explained my condition and alternative options in terms that I could understand. Futhermore, he discussed advantages and disadvantages of said procedures. I continue to see Dr. Strugala when needed. He is an excellent doctor and strongly recommend him. read more

I highly recommend Midland Orthopedics as they proved excellent care! Dr. Strugala was wonderful. I had a knee, and ankle injury. I was in enormous amount of pain. He explained my injury to me and the different ways to recovery. He was encouraging and simply a great doctor because he took the time explain the options to repairing and healing these injuries that gave me back my mobility with out pain. I appreciated the doctor's keeping their appointments timely. I usually didn't wait over five minutes for my appointments. This clinical staff are wonderful! They were helpful and supportive as I needed insurance documents completed urgently. This is the place to go! read more

The staff and receptionist should go back to school. They shouldn't even be allowed to work. They can't even read or write a damm prescription. They receptionist on the front desk is incompetent and rude. Took my grandma for an appointment and she couldn't even read the prescription written by her boss the doctor. This place is absolutely awesome. I had recently sprained my ankle (which I had previously hurt so extensively that it required being in a cast for 6 wks). I was worried I had re-torn the ligaments in my ankle and after almost four days of pain, I thought I should see a specialist for it. Thankfully Midland Orthopedic takes my medical insurance of BCBS. This was how I found Midland Orthopedic in the first place. And thankfully Midland Orthopedic allowed me to come in at such short notice. I called early in the morning and was given a call back that they could try to fit me in between appointments. I was urgent in seeing someone and they were so flexible in their schedules for me. I was SO APPRECIATIVE. I had called numerous places (NW Memorial told me to go to the Emergency Room if I wanted to see an orthopedic in one week or see a general physician to see the orthopedic in two weeks) and none got back to me as quickly or were as flexible as Midland Orthopedic. The staff here is so nice. Judy who was super friendly taking my X-rays. Dr. Strugala was the physician that saw me and was very thorough in explaining what was going on with my ankle and why I had reoccurring ankle sprains. Thankfully I did not need a hard cast but I was able to get an air cast to stabilize my ankle to heal faster. I was referred to a physical therapist which is less than a mile away from where I live. They make things so easy here!! The office has a private parking lot that looked like it was open to the public. But the office is easily accessible by public transportation as well. The office is located on Wabash but the 29 State St bus can take you here. Just get off at the 29th St bus stop and walk one block east. I think any bus running south on Michigan Avenue will also go here. I'm actually looking forward to my follow up visit. The people here are professional and friendly and seemed to be all about customer service. Based upon the other reviewers, it seems this place has been awesome for quite some years! I was referred to this place by my doctor after I hurt my knee surfing (not the vacation souvenir I had in mind). My doctor (Dr. Strugala) is a man of little words, but he's great. With a couple of painful torque's he had pinpointed my problem - grade 2 MCL tear. My only complaint is my doctor doesn't offer a lot of information, you have to ask for it. It took me a couple of check ups before I realized this and played along. Unfortunately, my recovery wasn't as seamless as Joe S., it's taken me several months of PT and I'm still not quite 100%, but getting there. Unfortunately, MCL tears are non-surgical. Before you ask "are you on crack, why would you WANT to get sliced open" I will tell you. Knee surgery isn't my idea of a good time, but I think I would've healed a lot faster if they could surgically repair the problem. The one negative here is the billing system seems to be ass backwards and slow. My last appointment was in July and the billing is backed up, I just got another bill yesterday. Every time I pay one bill another comes from a visit long ago, but what's wacky is that they keep applying payments to the most recent visit so every invoice I get is from my early visits! TIP: if you're coming from the loop a bus that goes South on State or Michigan will get you within a block (get off at 29th). read more

Dr. Salvino was addressing my planter facetious, his demeanor and professionalism is off the charts. He listened to my complaint and gave me a thorough examination, showed me all the exercises I needed to do and gave me a copy of exercises to take home. The pain was so bad that I needed a cortisone shot that I received that day. I returned for another check up 6 weeks later, the pain was minimal due to the exercises Dr. Salvion suggested, along with the shot, he then scanned my feet for orthotics. Somewhere the line of communication fell apart between me (the patient) and the receptionist and the receptionist never followed through to research where the orthotics were. After my third call to the office, I asked to speak to Dr. Salvino, I was transferred to his assistant Stephanie, I explained the situation and she got back to me within hours, booked another appointment and re-ordered the orthotics. While waiting in the examination room I had a wonderful conversation with Tina Baxter. Tina's concern is totally all about the patient and making sure the office is run like a well oiled machine. Both her and Dr. Salvino addressed the situation and resolved the issue. I highly recommend Midland Orthopedic Association and Dr. Salvino. read more

Two stars only because I received the treatment and services requested. Find a less predatory office if you have a deductible. You will be required to place a $1000 deposit that the office has no intention to refund. You will not be contacted. Your repeated messages will be ignored. If you do get in touch, your questions will be dodged and you may be lucky enough to be told, "well, you have to understand, nobody wants to give back money." After nearly a year of being unable to contact the billing office, my deposit was returned without interest. read more

The clinical staff is incompetent and rude. The only consistency they have is their ability to blame each for mistakes for patient care without anyone actually trying to fix them. Dr. Brooker himself is a pretentious man. Instead of trying to apologize for his staff's lack of care regarding my father, or trying to help resolve the issue, he belittled the situation and tried to insult my intelligence with misinformation; which is not only unprofessional but unconscionable for a surgeon. Midland Has awful customer service. Also they have payment system in which they charge your credit card you give them for balances without notifying patients. If you can't pay your balance before next appointment they will not service patients. So don't expect a bill in the mail just see it on your credit card or No follow up visit with doctor who did your surgery. I wouldn't patronize this company again. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! The service was excellent and I enjoyed the doctor I worked with (for all of 10 minutes). However, it's not worth going here because they have such a terrible billing department. I paid in their office for the appointment and they continued to try and bill me repeatedly for the same service. It took months of me calling them and giving them information in order for them to realize they accepted payment from me at the office. Today, 7 months after my only service there, I received another bill for the same service but for a different amount than was shown previously. They continually threaten collections actions when the fault is 100% within their own system. The billing pain is much greater than my foot pain ever was. Stay away or be prepared for months of work on your part. read more

There was a billing discrepancy with a co-payment. At my final appointment with the ortho doctor. I was presented with an outstanding bill from Dec 2020 from my first appointment with the doctor. I've seen this doctor twice between that time and spoke to his assistant who was supposed to processed my co-payment. She didn't do her job and nobody called me to rectify the situation until my last appointment. I've tried calling the billing supervisor to go over this matter and haven't received a call back as of yet. The staff is disorganized and no help at all. I was referred to Midland by my primary physician. I have a torn ACL and Meniscus. The doctors here are intelligent and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone with ortho problems. Dr. Nelson took great care of me before my 500 mile bike ride, gave me anti-inflams and a shot of cortisone. I am going in next week for ACL and meniscus and will repost after, but up to now a 5 star place! UPDATE*** 6 weeks after surgery I have full range of motion, highly recommend these guys! read more

I wish I had read all of the 1-star reviews on Yelp before taking an urgent care office's recommendation to come here for a fractured elbow x-ray -- please avoid, these people will surely swindle you!! After seeing Doctor Heller for 20min and receiving one x-ray, MOA billed me for a "global period" of 3 months worth of care -- $1300+ for one visit for an x-ray. This was meant to cover me for 3 months of additional visits, but I did not need any additional visits as my injury healed just fine. They have refused to cancel the charge, even after I have filed a consumer's complaint with the IL Attorney General's office. They sold me a subscription service for doctor's visits without asking me or my consent, and there is nothing I can do about it -- as soon as you come, they also ask you to sign a consent form to have your credit card charged for any balance not covered by insurance, with no recourse. That should have been a red flag for me to turn around and leave. I would assume that they are committing this legal fraud on a larger scale with their medicare/medicaid patients. Fool me once, shame on me.. but if you're reading this before visiting MOA... well! read more

Dr. Maday was the first doctor that has ever sat and listened to my complaints about my shoulder pain without interrupting me. He attentively listened to my complaints, and sent me for an X-ray on the spot which came back clear. He then sent me for an arthro MRI, and it turns out I had a torn labrum. Dr. Maday did my shoulder surgery, and it couldn't have gone better. I had the surgery 4 months ago, and I haven't felt this good in probably 8 years. I have more range of motion than I did before the surgery, and am able to use my shoulder pain-free for the first time in forever. The office staff is always super friendly and really helpful, and the surgical coordinator (Erika I believe) was fantastic. The wait time when calling to schedule isn't usually very long either. Sometimes the wait to actually be seen by the doctor takes a little longer than you would expect, but that's pretty normal in high volume offices such as these ones. read more

Dealing with the surgical scheduler is a disaster. I believe they never had me on their schedule therefore pushing my date further back blaming it on the ever present covid 19. I have a lot of pieces to move in order to make my date and when I told her this, she was less than empathetic, a great trait for a medical worker. Had minor surgery done a couple weeks ago by Dr. Hook. Procedure was practically painless and relatively quick. Wish I could say the same about the therapy but lately, with the guidance and continuous follow up calls from the doctor himself, I'm feeling a lot better and recovery seems to be making steady progress . I have to warn anyone considering coming to this office. I went to see Dr. Strugala twice and he never offered a solution but just said to give my pain some time. When I finally went for an MRI, and it was sent to their office, two people couldn't find it even though it was there and a third person found it. I was told I would have my results read to me but the person who took the message of course did not take the message correctly and it was filed away and never given to the person who was supposed to call me. I called again Tuesday and everyone had left the office and finally two weeks after they received my results I finally received a call with that information. And even when I asked them to mail those results to me, they got the address wrong even though I had specifically given it to them minutes before. Be careful. Dr. Perns is the orthopedic surgeon that fixed my broken ankle. I researched many surgeons and found him to be the best. After continuously seeing him, I know he is the best! He takes the time to answer my many many questions. Ty is always so nice and professional whenever I call for appointments or checking out. The front desk girls have yet to greet me when I am there, just look at me. I needed a doctor's letter and the lady was so sweet and helpful and called me back to discuss it further. A business is all about customer service, etiquette and preparedness. If new billing procedures were in effect than the office needs to train their intake personnel better. As a new patient, I was unaware of this procedure. According to their new procedure a credit card needs to be on file. Well, when I made my apt I made it a point to tell the representative that someone other than myself was taking her and if I needed to give my insurance info now or any other info than I would gladly give it to them. But she said, "no, you're fine, I have your daughter down for 8am...." Now, its time for the apt and my father has been there with my daughter well before 8. I get a call from my daughter as I'm driving on the expressway to work to give her a Credit card number. I tell her that I would call in as soon as I get to work at 9 to give her the number. Once I step into my office, my daughter calls me and tells me that they have her waiting to see the doctor because there's no credit card on file. Which means to me that they have them waiting for an extra 45 minutes-an hour to see the Dr. all because the office was unprepared, untrained and doesnt care for the patient's time! I understand the credit card on file, but that could have been taken care of on the intial apt set up had they mentioned it! They need to get it together. Yes, I called to complain....but the young girl on the receiving end was just trying to say its a new billing procedure..which I get, but you dont hold back patience in the waiting room as other patients walk by and take their time slot over a credit card that could have been easily retrieved had someone called me to inform me! Disappointed at this. Hope the Dr. is more eventful than this morning's disaster! I am a first impression type of person....and as a first impression..I'm not impressed! read more
