Came here last night for a friends birthday dinner and we had a blast. The food was sooo delicious, the service was phenomenal, & the entire vibe was great. The staff was so friendly and fun. We ordered a few things to split. The steak skewers & the mussels were my personal favorites. The seasoning and preparation of the steak were perfect. The mussels came in almost a sweet sort of sauce that was irresistible: My friends and I also tried a few of the different cocktails on the menu and they were all delicious. The DJ (Rose) played good music and was sweet enough to "shout out" my friend for her birthday. Our waiter (Nick), the bartender (Bree), and the hostess (Sonny) felt like friends we've had for years. They arent serving late night food any longer (with the exception of the empanadas) but are happy to accommodate you grabbing food from somewhere else and chilling here as long as you still purchase drinks. Saw the good reviews on here and decided to recommend it for a night out with friends. We were quite a large group and they were so kind to accommodate us. Some items we tried included Mussels, Flat Bread, Beet Tartare, Brussel Sprouts and the burgers. All of them were delicious but the standouts for me were the Mussels and brussels sprouts. I will definitely be going back for that Curry broth! I also really enjoyed the vibe here. The service is lovely and prompt, the cocktails on point and there was a DJ but they didn't have him turned up too loud. Certainly a nice date spot or even drinks with friends. Wonderful service, food and room at Midnights last night. First time and didn't disappoint. Recommend the smokey bourbon w bitters cocktail (can't remember name), as it come with fresh (real) wood chipped smoke in glass to top off a perfect drink. The mezcal based Bill Murray was also a fine selection. For mains, the chicken dish was perfect. The crispest chicken you'll find that isn't fried chicken (mmmm, still thinking about it the next day!) - half portion is more than enough. Midnights is one of my new favorites in Brooklyn! We showed up for a 7:30 reservation and were seated promptly outside. We started with the Shishito peppers and the Thai Curry Mussels, and moved on to a Kale Caesar Salad and a Eggplant Milanese. Everything was delicious but the real standout was the Thai Red Curry Mussel dish! The atmosphere on the back patio is beautiful complete with vine all over and hanging light bulbs. I saw this listed as one of the best restaurants in Brooklyn, so we went for a double date. It exceeded every expectation I had. We did wait a few minutes for our table, but the perfectly-bearded and hat-wearing manager sent over bubbly to make up for it. Each of our meals was so spectacular that we were eating out of each others plates. The short rib was braised for 72 hours and melted the moment it hit my mouth. The mussels were perfect, so was the trout and the half chicken. Most of these dishes had subtle Malaysian flavors. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Great spot. We stopped in for late lunch and drinks. Devon sat us in the garden at our request. He could not give us a table as he had a full house of 5:00 reservations. It was 4:45 and the back area was pretty empty aside from 3 tables. We wanted food but had a 20 minute wait for the kitchen to re open so settled in with drinks. Lovely garden setting. We loved the experience but realized the bar area we were seated was not comfy for food so we made a res elsewhere. Later, Devon's colleague invited us to order food. We explained we were eating elsewhere as they were booked. He was confused and said they had room (by this time, 5:20, the outside area had 3 tables with three or so empty). Devon came and apologized and offered us a table. We declined as we were heading elsewhere. No big deal, small mix up. We had a great drink sesh and will be back for food. Super spot. read more

OMG! What a let down. I walked in on a Thursday night. Asked if they had Black Bush. The reply was "no". Wow the bar tender didn't even offer me an alternative. So I ordered and vodka & tonic instead. They took their time making it but when it arrived I thought it would have been worth the wait. WRONG! I don't think I've ever tasted a V&T so weak. In fact I even wonder if here was any vodka in it. WTF! $14 for semi-flat tonic. Not a good experience. Hope they weren't pulling some black-guys-don't-tip-so-here's-a-very-watered-down-drink shit ....... cuz I do. :( P.S. Managment got back to me and apologized. I know this is a new place which is probably why some people are so hyped. However if you actually go there and eat your would realize that the food is not good at all. We ordered the hamachi sashimi quick is around$20 for a portion that is 1/4 of what you would get from a nice Japanese restaurant and it's not nearly as good. The mussels are extremely sweet and greasy, possibly to mask the fact that they are not fresh. The asparagus dish doesn't make sense at all. I'm love creative dishes that have interesting combos but this one does not mix together and treated like a 3 separate things instead of one dish. As I'd eating all of these things, I thought to myself: the hummus I bought at the store today taste better than this. I would have given it 3 stars side the service is ok, but for more than$100 for 2ppl, I feel like I have essentially been robbed by a con artist with fancy clothes. read more

They gave us two "Justin Bieber"s (lol) on the house - I think they were infused with elder flower. Also good, but a bit too sweet. I wandered in after an oyster happy hour in the same neighborhood and was immediately greeted warmly by Teresa from the bar. I had a lovely time, the food was literally amazing, and the drinks with fresh fruit OMG!!! We had some veggie calamari and the steak skewers, trying it for both the veg and carnivores. Devin the owner was here the whole time and made sure we were ok from welcoming us in the bar to checking on our food. MIDNIGHTS. I must say the place is as interesting and intriguing as the name. This establishment is a sight to be seen. It should be in everyone's list of "must eat" places in Williamsburg. I want to comment first and foremost on the crowd because this is the number thing I noticed that I like. The crowd is very trendy, sophisticated and chic. It's such a fresh and different variation in this part of town. It's definitely a good addition to the diversity of restaurants in this neighborhood. I love the modern minimalist decor/ interior with leather seats and high ceilings. The moment you step inside, you will melt into it's elegance. It's very enticing, even the bathrooms are very sexy. They also have an outdoor seating in the back area which will be open in the warmer days. The ambiance is unpretentious and cushy. During dinner, it's neither loud nor quiet. Just perfect. After dinner, it turns into a party scene. Service is outstanding - attentive but not over bearing. The staff are skilled and knowledgeable. Food is impeccable and exquisite. I loved every dish I had. Every bite was heavenly. You can tell that the kitchen uses the freshest ingredients. They also have great cocktails and a small but good wine selection. Everything about this place is just spectacular. It exceeded my expectations and lives up to all the hype. I would definitely go back. I highly recommend it. read more

Another Williamsburg restaurant with 4.5 star reviews and absolutely mediocre food and mediocre to terrible everything. We ended up paying 120/person (includes wine) and would have preferred to spend 10/person on a taco truck in the cold. Burger - greasy (not juicy just grease) and no flavor Hanger steak skewers - terrible quality meat, takes five minutes to chew one bite Flatbread - smothered in cheese, again tasteless Some of the veggie dishes were slightly better (mushroom ravioli and beet salad) but still really mediocre. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable and tight. Finally, they had a DJ come in at 10ish who had no taste, played ear screeching music and couldn't even match beats (impossible given that the software does it for you but somehow he managed). The rating is for the drinks we had, as we did not order food here. Upon arriving, I was struck by the dramatic dark blue decor inside. The bumping, extremely loud music at 2 pm was rather off-putting, but I guess that's what the kids are into these days. We were mercifully seated in the back patio, away from the music. The staff was attentive to us out there, which was a refreshing change from some establishments where the staff neglect the outdoor diners. The patio space was beautiful, and as the place began to fill up, some people just stood around with their drinks like it was a garden party. Very nice and chill. They turned on music outside as well, but at a respectable level of volume. The bathroom is also dramatic, all black and in its own way, elegant. The only downside was when we tried to leave the place and had to navigate around some two-bit "rapper," who was standing on the tables, screaming into a mic, while being filmed by some people for his music video????? A group of us were wandering around the neighborhood after having some drinks and food at Pearls and the bar inside/next door. We stumbled into Midnights and found ourselves teleported into a dope hiphop vibe lounge type setup with the DJ in the corner spinning some banger rap tracks. The lights were on the mellow, candles on the table tops and bartenders accommodating as hell. It was my first time in Brooklyn and after about a half a dozen or so west coast rap songs, some Biggie starts to play. As i'm busy feeling myself and vibing with my group, our bartender (one of two) walks by with a skateboard in hand and tells us peace before he takes off for the night. Our intention was a single round. I ended up leaving with a lifetime memory. Can't wait to visit again. read more

I want to come back for cocktails as I'd probably give Midnights a higher rating. However, this is a review based on a Monday night dining experience with my wife (for her birthday). Very cute space with plenty of available seating at 8pm both indoors and outside in the large, lush patio/backyard. Right off Bedford Ave at N6th, the location is certainly working for it. All around, service was great. Upon arrival, we were greeted and taken to a table outside. Our waiter, Devin (?) was attentive, helpful and kind. I'd give him 5 stars. Drinks - Fantastic cocktails. We started with a "Berry Manilow" (gin-based) & a bourbon-based ginger-infused little number with Aperol. Yum!! As I said, we'd come back for drinks. ($12-14 cocktails) Food - Thai Mussels and Fries, an odd, but flavorful take on the French classic. This was good. The rest, not so much... The vaunted $30 Short Rib was quite large, but also quite tough. You ought not need a steak knife to eat a good short rib. The low point was the burger. First, we found our med-rare to be straight up rare/bloody... no problem, it went back for a little more time on the grill. When it came back, the meat was un-edible. We advised the waiter, discreetly, that the meat might have sat out, or otherwise have gone bad. Learning that it is provided by a reputable butcher nearby did not change the fact that the meat itself was bad. I tried to get through it, but we had to return it all together. Service wins the day, however, as the burger was taken off the bill and we were gifted a draft beer. We'll come back, but need to feel a bit more confident in the main dishes before venturing for another meal. read more

Been here twice and received solid food and drinks, slow service. Very nice $1.5/oyster happy hour. Both times we have enjoyed their back patio, which is lovely, quiet, and very sunny. They have a nice wine menu (which you always have to ask for ... not sure why they hide the wines) and their oysters were good quality. Maybe the speed of the service changes if you sit inside the restaurant. But I find the interior really dark and strangely decorated, almost unappealing (actually when we walked in the first time we thought we were at the wrong place). read more

Loved Midnights! My friends and I stopped in on a Monday night before seeing a show down the street. They have happy hour all day on Mondays, so everything was a great price. The best deal was off the food menu, titled "Tacos Beer and Shot". It is quite literally two (cauliflower) tacos, your choice of beer, and your choice of well shot. (!!) For $17, what a steal! Even though vegetarian, the tacos were substantial, well-seasoned, and the cauliflower had a meaty texture to it that made them really satisfying. Needless to say, we left with full bellies and elevated BACs. Would definitely return and recommend their happy hour! read more

The people who work here are dressed like they were just walking down the street outside (aka casual) so I mistook the host as a customer initially. Service was good; we got the wrong cider but they willingly took it back. Had the cheesy lamb fettuccine, which was actually a huge portion, for my entree. Love that they have Shishito peppers too!
