I'd spotted their truck at community festivals and events more times than I can count, but every single time there was a line...and every single time my impatience won. Until one beautiful Friday evening in July. For the first time ever, Soul Lotta Empanadas and I found ourselves in the same place without a crowd standing between us. This was my moment! The hardest part wasn't waiting. It was deciding what to order. Their menu is packed with creative empanadas and, if I'm being honest, I wanted approximately all of them. After a solid internal debate, I landed on the Crab Rangoon Empanada, the Cheesesteak Empanada and a cup of their Street Corn, mostly because I saw someone else walking around with it and immediately developed food envy. A few minutes later, I was handed my basket of empanadas and my cup of street corn. I was absolutely starving, so naturally the Crab Rangoon Empanada got first dibs. And it absolutely lived up to the hype I'd built up in my head! The filling was rich, creamy and packed with flavor. Everything I love about crab rangoon was there, just wrapped inside a perfectly fried empanada instead of a tiny wonton. Honestly, this might be my preferred crab rangoon delivery system now. Why eat eight little rangoons when you can eat one giant one? The Cheesesteak Empanada was just as generously stuffed. Plenty of flavorful filling, plenty of cheese and another excellent choice. If I had to order again tomorrow, I'd happily get either one without hesitation! Then there was the street corn. It was a little different than what I'm used to, leaning more tangy and bright than rich and creamy, but I actually really enjoyed that! It was topped with crushed Cheetos, which honestly made me smile before I even took the first bite. It also made one thing very clear...I had ordered entirely too much food. The empanadas disappeared, but the street corn came home with me. And sometime around the middle of the night, I found myself standing in my kitchen finishing it cold and straight from the cup like a feral raccoon. No regrets! If you see Soul Lotta Empanadas at a festival and there's a line, wait. Trust me! I spent way too long letting long lines scare me away, and now I know they were worth waiting in all along. My only problem now? I've got my eye on those Apple Cobbler dessert empanadas. Looks like I'm going to have to track this food truck down again before summer ends. And this time...I'm ordering dessert first!

The other ones we tried were also great. But the key, must-have ingredient is their sauce! A combination of sweet - kinda like an orange chicken sauce - and bbq flavor. It is SOOO good you'll want to keep buying more.

I've also seen the tremendous LINE at the Mad Dash food truck at nearly every fair and festival I've attended over the last two summers. Trying one of their artisan grilled cheeses has been on my adventure list for quite a while, but candidly, I'm just not a stand-in-line-for-a-grilled-cheese kind of girl. So when I spotted Mad Dash at Wheel Food Wednesday at Adams-Ricci Park on a late August Wednesday evening with absolutely NO line, I knew my moment had finally arrived. My adventure buddy and I decided to split the Buffalo Chicken grilled cheese, made with chopped chicken, buffalo sauce, cheddar cheese and ranch dressing. At $9.50, it seemed like a reasonable way to finally find out what all the Mad Dash fuss was about. A few minutes later, our sandwich was ready. When I opened the wrapper, my first impression was actually fantastic. This thing was grilled to absolute PERFECTION. Beautifully golden and crispy on the outside. If there's ever been bread more perfectly grilled, I haven't seen it! We split the sandwich in half and immediately discovered there was no skimping on the filling, either. It was PACKED with cheesy, chickeny, buffaloy goodness that came oozing out as soon as we pulled the halves apart. Unfortunately, the oozing never really stopped. The sandwich tasted good, but the filling was so runny that it didn't have much structure at all. Even after it cooled down, everything continued spilling out of the bread. At some point, it stopped feeling like I was eating a grilled cheese and started feeling more like I was eating a very well-executed Hot Pocket. A tasty Hot Pocket! But still. Mad Dash describes its sandwiches as artisan and gourmet grilled cheese, and I think that's where my disappointment comes in. When someone tells me I'm getting a gourmet grilled cheese, I'm imagining amazing thick bread, interesting textures and layers of flavor that make me stop mid-bite and say, "OH MY GOD, THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE GRILLED CHEESE." This wasn't that. The bread was nicely grilled. The filling tasted good. There was plenty of it. But ultimately, it was a pretty basic, runny buffalo chicken sandwich with an unfortunately runny interior. For $9.50 split between two people for dinner, I certainly can't complain about what we spent. Would I spend nearly $40 to buy four of these for a family? Absolutely not. Grilled cheese is awesome. Grilled cheese is even MORE awesome when somebody else makes it for you. But grilled cheese starts losing some of its magic when it approaches $10 and requires serious consideration about whether you should be eating it with a fork. So after two summers of seeing those enormous Mad Dash lines, I'm glad I finally got to satisfy my curiosity. Am I glad I tried Mad Dash? Yes. Am I glad I waited until there was absolutely no line to try Mad Dash? Also yes. Would I stand in one of those festival lines or spend another $10 for this particular grilled cheese? Nahhh. Next time, I'll probably take that $10 to the grocery store, buy the supplies for a whole pile of grilled cheeses and start up my own griddle. Good? Kind of. Gourmet? Not for me. Worth one of those giant festival lines? Also not for me.

Usually at the intersection of Market & 15th Streets in Harrisburg's Allison Hill section, next to O.D.'s place bar. It is worth noting that the truck may or may *not* be there, usually is there & open on weekends, but in the colder months you will not find it. Your best bet is to go on a saturday or sunday during lunchtime. We arrived 15 minutes before closing time. There was a lady who politely told us the choices. The only things they had left were the beef & pork tacos for 1.50 each. It was pretty tasty, the tortilla wraps were pretty large. They were filled to the brim with onions & cilantro. Sadly, we didnt get to try anything else today. Cash only, on street parking. Taco prices have held stead in the $2.00 range for the past few years.

I parked the car around the corner, carried the two year old, and ordered three carnitas tacos. In a matter of minutes (for the incredibly awesome price of about $4.25) they were handed to me in a plastic bag. They were perfectly cooked. The meat fell apart and had just the right amount of those succulent, chewy fatty pieces for which carnitas is famous. Each taco had two soft white corn tortillas which was good because the meat and toppings were so juicy a single layer taco would have fallen apart in mere minutes. Each taco had a nice amount of meat (not like the mere implication of meat you get at taco bell). The tacos were topped with a lovely pico de gallo which had a nice kick of cilantro and some zing from the onions. It was super, super fresh. It must have been made that day. I also ordered hot sauce on all of them. My two year old ate the hot sauce so you can rest assured that it isn't too spicy . . . but it did add a nice flavor. Yum-o to quote that Rachel lady. We will absolutely be back! I can't wait! My only complaint is that 15th street has one ways. Head up Market and you can't go wrong.

It was very disappointing, I was looking forward to a loaded potato but ended up with more of a naked potato. We did reach out with no reply or response, obviously there wasn't much they could do once the food was delivered but a sorry goes a long way. One of the reason we ordered from here was due to having them having a delivery incentive, or I don't think I would have. I believe their food can be pricey. Over all I was impressed that the food wasn't dry and reheated nicely.

Got to store. 15 bone in wings $21.49 15 boneless wings $12.49 $9.00 difference. At store was told they had prepared me 18 wings!!! WHAT??? Should have been 25-26 boneless to balance out the price. They were offering 3 boneless wings for $9!!!!!! First AND LAST time here. Usually go to the Dickeys in Mechanicsburg. Never any issues. This place is a joke. They are supposed to fully refund me. $25 on gift card I used and $6.11 on Visa card. We will see. AVOID this place. Counter person absolutely no help and no manager on duty. UPDATE: That evening I got $6.11 credit on CC and my gift card was refunded BUT only $15 and not the full $25. Called Monday and spoke with the manager Brandon. Very pleasant conversation. He apologized for missing the $10 credit and said he would take care of it. Admitted there was a miscommunication between himself and the employee as to what I should have been receiving wing wise. Said he would address the situation. I thanked him for his handling of the issue and agreed to give them another try. Will try to remember to post update about next visit. 2nd UPDATE After positive experience with Brandon (manager/owner) we decided to try them again. Got the 2/$29 2 meat plate special Ordered on the app again. Order was ready and waiting for me on time. Tried 4 different meats Pulled pork, 2 different types of kielbasa, and ribs. Ribs were slightly dry but did fall off the bone. All 3 other meats were great. Mac and cheese was wonderful. The Texas toast was really good. So I did up the review from a one star to a 3 stars and we will order from them again. Just caught them on a bad day with some poor communication between staff but overall, management made things smooth.
