Must stop! Wonderful little diner at the midpoint on Route 66. The people there are so lovely! The interior is just like going back in time--so cute and quaint. We arrived after 3:00 so they weren't serving lunch anymore but we were able to get their world famous ugly pie. We tried the apple, chocolate, berry and pecan. They were all to die for!! There were several other fishies that they had already sold out of--so get there early if you want to try them all. Don't forget to lock the plate and get your midpoint cafe sticker. Let's start with patience! You must not be in a rush or at least know how this place runs their business! In the world we live in today we want everything yesterday!! Faster the better! So if your in a rush you might want to call your order in or maybe choose another spot to eat! If you choose to enjoy a meal you are definitely going to enjoy it and your experience!! Helpful tips... 1) grab a menu on your way to your table of your choice, no waiting/seating so if there is an open table take it and grab a menu by the counter/entrance to the kitchen! 2) make up your mind, push the menu aside and place your order when the fabulous waitress makes her way to you. 3) go shopping/exploring in their cute little gift shop, maybe go outside and take some pictures next to one or all 3 of their awesome vehicles and other well set up photo sites!! We were welcomed although we didn't realize they were closing in 30 minutes. This adorable and ultra clean roadside attraction surprisingly had great diner grub. My boyfriend had a thick homemade burger. I was surprised when the owner offered a meatless alternative other than a burger. She fried me up a meatless chicken sandwich that was the best I've had. Pleasant Lunch Break The town of Adrian is not much but is the mid point between LA and Chicago. However this restaurant is very pleasant and relaxing. The owner Brenda was very friendly. Atmosphere is 1950's clean and a part of history. Prices are a little bit higher but understandable due to location. We both had the cheese burger with chips and thought it tasty. I heard about this out of the way place and believe me, it was worth the trip! This little cage is on the historical Route 66 and sits exactly in the midpoint between Chicago and LA....hence the name. Absolutely one of the best burgers I've ever had.....but beware they are HUGE! I order the double (2/3 lb) angus beef....and too much! They have a single and a triple. Big 10/10! We ordered a cheeseburger, a fried bologna sandwich, and a grilled cheese. All were perfectly cooked. We finished off with Tennessee Whiskey Pie, which was so delicious! The staff was so kind and welcoming and even treated our two little boys to some surprises. The dining area is roomy and comfortable, and the whole restaurant is very clean. Now this is a must for travelers driving from Amarillo to Albuquerque! What a treasure It is located half way between Chicago and Los Angeles on historic Route 66 The pies looked delicious! But we simply had BLTs that were the way the sandwich was meant to be....tons of crispy bacon...delish!!! We had a great lunch at Midway. Very limited menu, but what there was rocked. I had the cheeseburger and it was a huge hand formed burger that was outstanding. My sister had the pulled pork sandwich whickshe said was plentiful and very flavorful. We both had pecan pie for dessert, not because we weren't full but because it sounded so good. I had the standard pecan which was very good, it was heated and so rich but not overly sweet. A do over for sure. My sister had the Tennessee whiskey/ chocolate chip pecan pie. It was also heated. We stopped in for lunch Friday about 40 min before they closed. I had the chopped brisket sandwich and it was YUMMY. Not grizzly or fatty at all. Good flavor and not dry. We are driving Route 66, so naturally we had to stop here for lunch. Our waitress was very friendly, although a bit swamped as the restaurant was pretty full for a Wednesday afternoon. The center of the infamous Mother Road. Halfway between Chicago and Santa Monica. Here is one of the friendliest and nicest cafes on the entire route. You have to try the pie! It's awesome. If you make no other stop along Route 66, this is a must! Not only are there great photo ops, but the pie is delicious (recommend bourbon spiced apple and the Elvis) and the owners very friendly. Of course you have to stop at the Midpoint Cafe. Lunch was ok, I was surprised that they do not serve breakfast. I had the chicken salad and it was so plain. The ugly pies were delicious tho! The owner seemed a little off his rocker and while shopping in the over priced gift shop, I hear him scream to what appeared to be his mother. Although the business is for sale, one lady showed the slightest interest and he was talking them up so bad, it made me uncomfortable. We drove the 1st leg and stopped at this joint. 5 stars is too low for the great hospitality by Brenda and Jollee. On my eastbound road trip from Cali, I tried to get some pie but was told they ran out. On my return, I called to find out but they were closed. Bummer! But after realizing I'm coming from so far away, they especially made a pecan pie for me. Then after finding out I haven't had lunch, they made me a sandwich. Since they were closed I had to take My pie and beef brisket sandwich to-go. Did not disappoint the hype. It's cute and kitschy, and I wanted to love it. My first trip inside a restaurant since the pandemic started since we're traveling through and not many choices. First, they didn't wipe tables down, which you should do for health code even before COVID-19. Second, not a mask on any employee or hand sanitizer available, and I get it... the governor canceled the mandate this week while still encouraging use. We "descended" on this wonderful place as part of our itinerary on a Yankee RV Route 66 Caravan Tour. We all had amazing pieces of pie (chocolate & peanut butter, blueberry & banana, and coconut cream just to name a few...). The gift shop provided some souvenirs that were different and distinct from the other shops we have visited since we left Chicago. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating, even though we filled the restaurant all at once. (Fortunately, our "Wagon Master" alerted them of our visit the day before so they were expecting us.) We enjoyed taking lots of pictures of the memorabilia inside and out. It was a great experience and we would recommend this place, even if it's only to get something to take out. read more

We had been on the road for 8hrs, needing to stop and eat and rest the horses we are hauling. It was 1:55pm and the restaurant was full. Waitress came out of the back after we had been waiting for a couple of minutes and told us the restaurant was closed. Said they close at 2pm. I asked if I could use the restroom and she told me yes. Double checked on yelp and it says they close at 4pm. Told the waitress that Yelp says they close at 4pm. She said those are summer hours and it's winter. Nice shop on the middle of 66 route. They have gift shop which sell hats, t-shirts, magnets, artistic plates, mugs... The prices aren't cheap. However, their sandwich and pie are reasonably priced. Pie is around 5 dollars for a slice, and lunch sandwich is around 8 dollars. They have different flavor pie like cherry, apple, chocolate, coconut, it tastes good, but a little sweet for me. If you pass by, you could stop by and get a slice of 'ugly' home-made pie to try! In front of shop, there has sign of middle point that you could take picture with. The interior of shop has a old time feel , which is really interesting to see. The outside wall of shop is really colorful and playful.
