Small shop, but they are personal and a part of the community. The history behind the shop I don't think I could ever sum up with words and do justice, but one word, name is all you have to say... "Smitty" and always thankful for cuts. Although he's retired, the guys in the shop continue on and that's why I come back. Not only do the cuts make me look my best, the pleasant experience of just interacting with the great employees at Vera's Barbershop makes the trips more than worth it. I always get a great conversation from Big D, the barber, and all employees are respectful and professional. I made the mistake one time by going to a local barber in Annapolis and paid the price, literally. The cost of the hair cut I received was 75 percent higher than that at Vera's Barbershop, and I almost had to hide from my friends until I could get back to Vera's. But let me tell you, the first guy took 45 min, second guy was 75 min in and still going by the time I left. The first barber (light-skinned latino) took 45 min, worked hard and did an excellent job on an older man. Honestly, while I waited and saw him work, I wanted my cut with him. Unfortunately he left to go inside their building and was replaced by this young black haired latino. He was working on this guy who walked in with a Phil Foden cut and 75 min in, largely unchanged but with a clean trim on the sides. (There was hardly any hair on the ground ) One reason his cut was taking so long was this barber was too busy live-streaming on his phone, occasionally looking at peoples' comments. It also didn't help he was cutting at a snail's pace. It's one thing to be attentive to detail (something the first barber was good at). It's another to just go hair by hair. Bad for business, wasting peoples' time, so much that I don't feel like stopping by the actual shop. Hope the business sees this and if they do, please let me know the name of that guy. If I ever do stop by, I'd like to avoid him at all cost.

When I walked in I asked if they felt confident about cutting my hair. Bey said, "man, hair is hair--have a seat" along with a big smile. It was a no brainer to give one a try. I have had three different hair stylists on three different occasions. All of them were attentive to the kind of cut I wanted. They all delivered a satisfactory cut. The recent one was extremely good. He took real good care of my hair and scalp. He went above and beyond to ensure I get the prefect cut I requested. The place is very clean. They have two large TVs to keep the guests entertained while waiting. They are often not busy during the weekdays afternoon after lunch. Price is nominal. Costs about $30 for men's haircut. I highly recommend this one and I hope more men would give it a try.
