I recently switched dry cleaners about a month ago and decided to try Midtown Cleaners. The ratings were decent and the location was about a mile away from my job downtown so it seemed like a good start. I can say that so far I am pleasantly surprised with the customer service, the friendliness, the turnaround and most of all the finished product of my dry cleaning. They took several opportunities to replace some buttons on my shirts, free of charge! What a pleasant surprise! I had a terrible experience here using their tailoring services. I believe their dry cleaning services are perfectly acceptable. I have never had an issue with dry cleaning at this establishment. However, I dropped off a pair of jeans a week ago to have them tailored in the waist. The jeans were measured and chalked by an employee at the store. They were tailored incorrectly and would barely button up. I called and asked to have them corrected. I ask the clerk to provide me with the manager's name, He was not available or present at the store at that time so, I asked what time he would be present so that I could give him a call and find a solution. He called me and would not let me explain what happened, spoke over me, offered to fix them, but gave an excuse that sometimes jeans are "just weird that way". We hung up and I found myself unsatisfied with that answer. I felt like his response was very dismissive and placed no value on my experience as a customer. So I called back. I explained to him that I would just like my money back and then I would like him to put my jeans back the way that they were. He stated that it was store policy to give me store credit and that I was no longer welcome at his establishment. He then went on to say, "I deal with people like you all of the time and you can get store credit". In my opinion, this business does not value the customer and their experience. I found the owner to be both dismissive and extremely rude when asked to correct a problem. I will be filing a claim in small claims court to get my money back. He then went on to write a rebuttal to my Google review saying that I was looking for a "cash grab " because I asked him to give me my pants back and undo the work he did along with a refund for the services rendered. He claims to be the owner, but he sounds more like a spoiled child with an accountability problem. Stay away from this business they will ruin your clothes and then blame you for it. read more

Insanely overpriced, I walked in for a 3 inch patch on the inside of my jeans, no wider than a quarter inch and they wanted to charge me $25. Not to mention, the receptionist didn't do anything more than glance to price it. As it is, I have personal experience knowing tailoring can be an easy way to overcharge people, but this place takes the cake. I had the worst experience at this place! I brought in my wedding dress to get the shoulder area tailored and they did a horrible job! I brought in my dress 7/01/25 and was told my dress would be ready on Friday 7/4 and that I would get a notification when the dress was ready. I knew they made a mistake because that day was a holiday. I never got a notification and I ended up calling Monday 7/7 and was placed on hold for like 5 minutes and they proceeded to tell me that my dress was ready so I took a lunch break to go pick lot up and since I was in a rush I didn't pay attention to the shoulder area and when I got home I noticed that they sowed the material to the strap that is meant to use to hang the dress on a hanger. It looked horrible so I called and was told to call the following morning to speak to the owner. I called and immediately the owner was extremely rude speaking over me and not letting me speak. I told him he was being rude but of course he kept talking over me. He ended up telling me to bring the dress back and that they would fix it, he also stated that he would be in since I told him I'd be there between 11-12 and to my surprise he wasn't there when I went. I was told by 2 female employees that they were aware and that my dress would get fixed. I was told my dress was already sowed to fit my shoulders and that they only needed to remove the material from the strap and that it would be ready in a couple of days. I came back to pick it up and upon trying it on the dress was definitely not fixed and it still didn't fit my shoulders so I was very upset and was told to leave the dress and that they would fix it AGAIN however that is not what happened. I went back for the 3rd/4th time and of course it was not fixed and the dress still didn't fit me. At this point my wedding was 2 days away so I ended up taking my dress home because I didn't want to risk leaving my dress again for nothing to be fixed. I complained and was very frustrated and I asked about getting partial refund and was told by a lady that she was going to talk to the owner and the lady who "tailored" my dress and that I'd be receiving a call from the owner or the tailor person however I never got a call from anyone. I would NOT recommend this place at all. The owner was very unprofessional by being extremely rude, not being at the location when he said he would be there, not following up with me after I asked for a partial refund. Giving them 1 star only to be able to leave this review but I'd give them 0 stars. read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE: Tailored clothing (a broken strap on a romper and a t-shirt converted to a tank top) took over 10 days to get back due to an emergency with the tailor. ( I wasn't told that until the 2nd time I attempted to pick it up on the date they gave me). I pick the items up, and on the hanger, it looks good. Got home, tried it on, and its not what I asked for. I asked for a tank top, and I got a version of a mens muscle shirt. I go to the store, and they call the owner over the phone, and he says (summing it up): The store policy is no refund, its not posted anywhere because its on the back of ticket. I asked for a full refund, then asked for at least $20 back, and he could keep the shirt. He said no, and it's either 50% store credit OR 25% cash back that's it, end of convo. He didn't see me with the shirt on, so he had no clue why I was upset. The alteration of this simple t-shirt was $45!!!! I didn't know the price til pickup, my mistake. So 25% cash back is $11, and I didn't take that or the credit because I'm going to look into other options on getting a refund. I know its a lot of hassle for a shirt, but it's the principle. I WILL NOT RETURN OR RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE I KNOW. As an attorney at a large law firm and a woman of color, to be spoken to in the manner that I was by the very owner, Mark, was quite appalling and disgusting. When I first started going to this business, I was unaware that Mark was the owner, because each and every time I had entered into this business and he was the only person present, he was unkind and unwelcoming. However, it was not until I had a question regarding my clothing order and its pricing, that I found out the sad truth. When I was picking up my clothing order, I inquired about what service was done and the pricing. Because the two women working at that time were unable to answer my questions, they advised that I return the next day to speak to the owner. The next morning when I was getting ready to drive to this business, I received a phone call from the owner, Mark. To my surprise, instead of Mark asking me (as the customer) what my questions or concerns were, he stated that he heard I had a problem and then began ranting off some things that he clearly wanted to get off of his chest. As I tried to inform him that I only had a question, he cut me off mid sentence and started yelling that he is the owner of this business, he owns many businesses, he charges x,y, z, no one is going to tell him what to do, and many other ego-driven statements. I was shocked at the way he was communicating with me and unsure what he could be so upset about. I asked him, was he going to give me an opportunity to explain what my question was or was he going to continue to talk over me. He paused for a moment as if he was going to let me continue to speak, but again... as I started to speak, he cut me off and begin shouting. As part of this rant, he yelled at me THAT HE ISN'T GOING TO GIVE ME ANY HANDOUTS OR DISCOUNTS. Again, as I am an ESTEEMED LAWYER AT A LARGE LAW FIRM and A WOMAN OF COLOR, this comment was EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL AND INAPPROPRIATE. I had NEVER asked for a handout and I definitely DON'T need one. The duration of the conversation continued in this manner, where he was clearly combative, argumentative, and ready to fight with a customer rather than address customer concerns. The only reason this conversation came to an end, was because I ENDED IT. As an owner of a business, to INITIATE this confrontation and be DISRESPECTFUL, DISMISSIVE, COMBATIVE, and UNKIND, is shocking. I have never felt so disrespected by anyone in my life. This is why I was particularly surprised to be treated in this way by the very OWNER OF THIS BUSINESS, Mark. As you read each of the negative reviews, the owner's response to those reviews is consistent with this behavior I'm stating in mine. All of this stemmed from my ONE question, whether my clothes were steamed and what the pricing was for steaming. I had never thought to have my comforters cleaned professionally, but wanted to give it a try after learning my king sized down alternative comforter really doesn't get washed properly in such a compact home washer. I did some research & decided to get it professionally cleaned at Midtown Cleaners. The staff was absolutely wonderful! Everyone i encountered was knowledgeable, helpful, & attentive at both drop off and pickup. I was also surprised by the quick service time & the exceptional cleaning job performed on my comforter. I would never recommend this business. I went in to get 4 expensive shirts tailored. I have a slightly larger upper body and thinner waste, so I usually just buy shirts that fit up top and just have the waist brought in, simple enough right? Well, not at Midtown Cleaners. I specifically asked them not to touch the sleeves or chest area and to just bring in the waist. When the lady was putting in the pins to mark where to alter she was sloppy and seemed confused. That should have been my cue to run out of the door. There is also no real "changing room." There is simply a closet sized room with a mirror that was already half filled with dry cleaning bags. I dropped them off early on a Monday morning and was told they would be ready by Friday. I was told to come back on Saturday at 1:30 to pick them up even though they close at 3. When I finally got my shirts back I tried them on once I got home..... Not only were the waists hardly brought in at all, but they had tightened the chest so much that to extend my arms I felt like it could possibly rip. The absolute worst part however, is the fact that they tightened the sleeves so much that I can barely squeeze my arms through making putting on a tie literally impossible. It would be a stretch to imagine that I might be able to bend my arms enough to drive my car, type at my desk, or take a drink from a cup. Do not go here for any alterations. I have gone to another tailor in Midtown before but decided to try this place since it is a little closer to my house. Biggest mistake I've made since I moved to Houston 6 months ago. I am going back tonight to see if I can get any money back for my ruined shirts, If they are reasonable and willing to work something out I will update this review to note as such, as this would be a redeeming quality. After reading these other reviews, however, I am very doubtful that they will. ...... Two weeks after initially dropping off my shirts I was finally able to talk to the lady who originally marked my shirts for tailoring. They had their tailor let the shirts back out so that I could at least fit in them. All of the shirts were the exact same cut and material and yet they all turned out vastly different. In the end, I received the money that I paid them for their services and the shirts back. The shirts' seams are no where near the quality they were before and I still need to get the waists brought in. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plaque. And to those of you possibly thinking, "oh this guy is blowing it out of proportion," I promise I'm not but feel free to get your nice clothes ruined. read more

I am in upper management in the Oil and Gas field. I do a great deal of drycleaning while in town and in hotels alike. Really, the place was "ok/average" but their customer service is quite lacking. They are pleasant and polit as long as you dont need anything. Anytime you have a special request or issue, forget about it. I was using the place for a while purely out of convenience since I drive by it daily. (though their hours of operation are terrible if you have a career, and I could only get their before work since it closes at 6pm). HERE IS THE BIG PROBLEM: This month one of my suits came back damaged. There was a small hole in the pants with a snag going lengthwise down the pant leg. I had not taken it out of the drycleaning bag yet when i saw it. Unfortunately I was out of town on a weekend trip at the moment, and this was the only suit I brought. So, i wore it to the wedding as it was not terribly noticeable in the dark fabric. Upon return, i brought it to the store. They took the position that they will not accept responsibility since I left the store with it. In other words, they expect you to take all your drycleaning out of the bags and inspect it all before leaving the store. Ironically, they claim they have a triple redundant inspection of all garments as they do not accept damaged clothes. Hence they admit it was undamaged when it entered the store. This argument only hurts their case. the only argument they could have made is that it happened before i dropped it off but i did not notice. I know 100% certain it left the store with this damage, so the only conclusion is they confirm they did the damage but refuse to accept responsibility. This is a $1,400.00 suit so this was not good news to hear, but hence worth a moment to warn off others. The place is family run by an asian couple maybe around 50 and their son in his twenties. I think their approach to customer service is maybe coming from abroad as they do not seem to understand the American levels of expectation from a business provider. I would avoid them at all costs as they cannot be trusted with your clothing (as indicated in the other reviews you will read on here, except family friends). I would recommend the place to all of my competitors in the oil field. Please use them and i will see you with ripped pants on the convention floors soon :) read more

One of the better cleaners that I have been to in Houston. It is a family run business and they entire staff is super friendly. They are on my way to and from work and have worked wonders on my clothes. They open early in the morning (6:30am) and provide same day service, for no extra cost, if you ask them. This has been a life saver for me. They also have done some alterations on a few of my jeans for a reasonable price. read more

Midtown Cleaners has been our dry cleaners for at least five years, and they always provide excellent service and deliver that service flawlessly. Sounds like a backhanded compliment, I know, but they've never damaged any of our clothes - which is obviously the most important standard in selecting a dry cleaners. Their service is almost always next-day. They've even helped us out a couple times when we've needed a rush service for an out-of-town trip, etc. They were once nice enough to make an exception and stay open ~5 minutes late so I could pick up a much-needed suit for a wedding i was attending in DC that weekend. I used this place for a few months before I finally gave up. First they ruined one of my dresses, and when I told them about it they didn't offer a refund or even apologize and then refused to give me any kind of refund when I asked. I'm not sure why I went back, but I kept using them. Then they gave me a couple of shirts with the collars wrinkled. When I told the lady about it she got really defensive (even though I approached her very nicely about it) and said I should have brought the shirt in (I had shown her a picture I took). After a lot of back and forth and rudeness from her, she refunded me the cleaning for the 2 shirts. Won't be returning. They don't care about their customers. read more

I went there 1-2 times per year consistently. Then they took a whole bag of my dress shirts and did not record my name. I came in asking for my clothes and they couldn't find them and blamed me for the issue. They did not record drop off dates or anything that could be used to find my stuff and basically told me I was out of luck. I told them I was not leaving without my clothes so they "allowed" me to sit in back for an hour looking at each bag for my stuff but it was not there. Let's face it, dry cleaning is a commodity so the rock star service and smile better be there if the price is not low. These guys are fast, but the prices are absurd. Here's my first impression. I would not recommend this place as they do not SEEM to car about their customers or potential customer. I went in to inquire about pricing and asked for a pricing sheet. They do not have one. I asked how much it would cost to dry clean a shirt and slack. I was given so many prices for the same items. When I tried to clarify, she threw in other prices. Here's the quote as far as I can remember: "dress shirt 1.39, if you have dress pants/slack, the pants is 1.39, if you both slacks and shirt, the shirt is 1.59 and pants is 3.59. if you have only dress shirts it 1.59, 1.79, pants 3.79". I am not kidding. This was the explanation of pricing from the owner regarding my pricing inquiry. For those of you who love this place, I need some of your money. I brought 4 pairs of pants in for cleaning, these pants were brand new and been worn twice each. 3 of them came back with holes in them all in the exact same location (by the back pocket) and the 4th came back with discoloring and a stain around the entire waistband. I did not notice the holes until I went to wear them the next time. I brought the pants back in and requested them to mend them and was told the holes were due to wear and the stain was due to my belt. As their policy is to not clean items that are damaged, and I have not worn the pants since, it is impossible these holes in the exact same place of 3 brand new pants were due to wear. These cleaners are rude and do not handle clothes properly nor take responsibility for their damages. Go elsewhere. read more

I show up to pick my stuff and not only did they say that they couldn't clean it, but also the stuff they "cleaned" had stickers that they couldn't remove the stain. These people are terrible! I had the complete opposite experience of the first reviewer. Midtown cleaners is a total ripoff! My husband and I dry clean a lot of Indian clothing with heavy beadwork (think prom dress or wedding dress type detailing). Since these are very expensive, one of a kind pieces, we always make sure to ask any new dry cleaner if they have experience with Indian clothing. After our wedding in India, my husband and I had a ton of Indian clothes that needed dry cleaning. My husband sent some of the clothes to Midtown cleaners. Off the bat, they told us they were uncomfortable with dry cleaning some of the pieces. Completely fine by us, we'd rather take them back dirty then to have them ruined forever. They did say they could clean the rest of our clothes. However, when we returned to pick up our clothes, we saw that most of the stains on our clothing hadn't even been touched. And we're not talking about major stains, just stains that occur during normal use. When we asked the person at the counter why the stains weren't removed, she had the nerve to say that they didn't have experience with this type of clothing and couldn't guarantee the stain removal. AND she said that since they had tried three times to remove the stain, they would have to charge us three times for their effort. Really? Did I authorize you to run my clothes through the dry cleaning chemicals three times? I don't think so! The receipt confirmed an extra "miscellaneous" charge was added to our bill. We were furious, but ended up paying the bill and leaving because they were starting a commotion. Don't trust Midtown cleaners with your clothes--you'll get them back dirty and will be charged thrice for it! read more

I have been a customer for a little over 4 years now. The cleaners is located near a Subway, which is very convenient when running errands on my lunch break. As a customer I have had no problems, my shirts and suits are always done on time. Parking can be crowded at times, especially around lunch time and right before they close at 6:30.
