Coming in is very welcoming from the ladies at the front counter who always remembers my name, to the hygienist and the entire staff. Having lived and traveled all over the world I love the diversity of the entire team. Dr Nerestant is awesome of course and kept his word and finished my dental treatment before my family reunion date. I've been a patient of Dr. N for years. After I finished with my 38 intense radiation treatments for throat and neck cancer I noticed that my teeth were falling out. I asked my radiation oncologist about that. His words were, 'yeah, that's a side effect of the radiation. Gee thanks doc for letting me know after the fact. I knew I needed a dentist and quick. I started my search and wanted one who can understand my fear of dentists. I came across Midtown Dental and from what I read I knew this was the practice I wanted. I made an appointment and started the process. I expressed my fear and Dr. N put me at ease. He recommended that I do the IV sedation. The day came and I was at the office very, very early in the morning. The staff and RN who administered the sedation were super helpful. The next thing I recall wasking up and Dr. N gave me a mirror and i was totally blown away. The finished product was incredible. Whom ever is reading this review, This doctor is absolutely amazing. He's an artist. His attention to detail is off the charts. I made my first appointment for a checkup and cleaning, however, I just got the check up and x-rays. I was told I need all this work done, and a deep cleaning for $800. I cannot afford an $800 cleaning at this time and called back to make an appointment for just a regular cleaning that is free with my dental insurance. I called over and over and was told each time the Hygienist is with a patient and will call me back. She did try and call me back a few of those times, but I work too and was with a customer. I did try and call her right back, but again, she was with a patient. So it has now been over 6 months and I have yet to get in touch with the Hygienist. This morning I called right when they opened, and guess what, she was with a patient. This is ridiculous and I will never go back to that place. They do not want to see you unless you are going to spend $10000. read more

Great dentist staff is awesome.Very caring dentist. Talks you through everything feel comfortable with the program. He set up for myself and sister. Long process but being done right. Not like I have been through for a year due to poor dentist mistake. The whole office is very caring and pleasant. It is what you need when having extensive work done. So glad I found them. Rachel call every day to see how I was after bad surgery . You don't get that every where. She is awesome. So is Dr William Nerestant. he really cares about your well being . Probably the worst cleaning I've ever had. Water was going everywhere, felt like I was getting a shower. Suction wasn't working right. The office seems to have a lot of turnover - dentists and hygienists. I do not like that you pay in advance or have the dental "savings" plan which doesn't really result in a lot of savings unless you have dental problems. You get two free cleanings per year, but they've got me on a four-month schedule, so I pay for the third or purchase a plan prematurely. Frequently call to see if you can come in early the day of your appointment. read more

I was finally able to get through to someone and came into the office. I was glad to find out that there had been a miscommunication and Dr. N did not know all that had happened, they had me come in the next day and was able to give me a temporary fix right then and I will come in next week to find out what is needed. BEWARE! The New Patient Exam & Consultation (with x-rays) is NOT Free! Midtown Dental may advertise this New Patient Exam as Free, but they will turn around and bill your insurance anyway, leaving you with a portion of the bill to pay. This is unacceptable and inconsistent advertising, a deceptive action on a consumer. A deceptive practice is one that is likely to mislead consumers, whereas an unfair practice is one that "offends established public policy" and is "immoral, unethical, oppressive, unscrupulous or substantially injurious to consumers." My attorney reached out to Midtown Dental regarding this & their attorney's response was "Dr. Nerestant and his staff have been thoroughly educated on the implications of even billing one penny for services advertised as "no charge." Due to this error, he and his staff sincerely apologize to your client. Any money received from the insurance company will be refunded ..." This was over a month ago, and my insurance company still has "not" received any refund from Midtown Dental. I have documentation & can prove all of this. Daphne Toussaint, the dentist I saw while I was there for the New patient exam, is also rude, unprofessional & very condescending. When we were discussing the dental plan/advice that she recommended for me, I told I disagreed and would get a 2nd opinion. I explained more about my dental history & she told me that my dentist and my oral surgeon "did not know what they were talking about" and were wrong. As a side note, my previous dentist (before I moved to Lakeland) had over 30 years of experience and my oral surgeon had over 35 years of experience! Daphne Toussaint has only been a dentist for 5 years, but thinks she knows more than 2 dentists with 6X the experience that she has on her record! After relocating to FL not knowing the area or having anyone to make any recommendations for a dentist, needless to say I visited a few office that left me feeling worst than when I started. Until, I came to Midtown Dental. I've always been extremely nervous about going to go to the dentist, my first visit at Midtown Dental (four years ago) I was shaken so bad, I was hoping my appointment was delayed so I would have a reason to leave. But within five minutes of me getting there, they called me to the back. I was stuck unable to back out, my only defense was to try to laugh or tell a joke in order to ease my nerves. The staff is very pleasant, always being professional from the young man at the door who greets me with a smile acknowledging me by name, to the financial manager Brenda (even though I called her Wanda at times she already knows it's me), the techs and I can't forget Dr. N and Dr.T "Bless your hearts" not sure how you do it. I could go on about how professional this staff is, or how nice and clean the office is or how comfortable they made me feel. However, it was something else that made this office stand out...their compassion. After, my recently visit I received a hand written card signed by the staff and doctors in sympathy of the passing of my Nana. In the world we live in today not only are they professional they had compassion for me during one of the hardest times of my life. It is with a heavy heart that I must update my previous negative review. Only because I believe in redemption, I allowed Dr. Nerrestant another opportunity to provide me with proper dental care. Unfortunately, on top of the previous 23,000$ I paid cash, I was required to pay another $3,000 for procedures and equipment I have never received! I did however acquire chemical burns in my mouth, throat, etc. as well as chemical toxicity from the bonding agent; ie super glue and one large screw to hold a plate in my mouth. I originally sought veneers and was told that's what I had paid so much for! He ordered the dental assistant to hold the bon-dent in place for 5 minutes so the false plate would be stuck in one front corner of my mouth while the other 3 corners are loose. Even after the glue was set, Dr. Nerrestant yanked and pulled on the plate until I cried out in tears for his own sick, sadistic pleasure. *** DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST OR YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONE COULD BE IN SERIOUS DANGER INCLUDING DEATH!!!*** read more

Exam was great and I felt comfortable. ....until I had to meet the financial lady. Will never ever ever go back. Scare tactics should not be used in medical field. I was told if I don't get my teeth fixed I may not wake and see my kids grows just because I didn't or couldn't afford the filling and cleaning. I took my papers and ran out of the office. I took a few cards to put them in the break room at work, the next day I tossed them all and sent a general email to everyone not to use this office. Very disappointed saw this practice had first appointment in January and could not get cleaning until May. Had a broken tooth got seen in one day on a Thursday and told it had to be pulled and was told if if started to hurt to call. The could not give me an appointment for the tooth extraction for 3 weeks. On Monday I called & could not be seen for days & they could only file it down. Since I was in pain & they would not accommodate me, we change dentists. It made us realize that they either overbook or have too many patients & should not be taking more. Beware! read more

I've given this place several chances over the years but keep having some iffy experiences - After my previous dentist left, the new dentist has me refusing to return. I'm actually afraid to let that woman near my mouth again. She did an awful job of filling a small group of cavities on the top of my mouth - the process took over four hours because she kept going to work on someone's root canal at the same time, seriously. The process was understandably more painful than it needed to be since she waited over two hours in between giving me the shots and in between drilling into the tooth 0_0 She then acts impatient about it and like it's my fault for not having high pain tolerance. She was in a rush and didn't polish the cavities or remove all the bonding agents - the assistant felt bad for me and tried to help a bit but I had the leftover bonding agent for quite a bit as I kept trying to work it loose. My appointment was 9:30, I was there by 9:20 in the chair, and I didn't get to leave until about 12:30. It's not my fault she was hungry and overdue for lunch because they want to work on several mouths at the same time. I still have to see another dentist and am worried what X-rays will show since she had to stop drilling up the bottom of a tooth because the shots had worn off and I couldn't stand the drill staying too deep without being numb. Usually if a cavity is filled my tooth looks great after, but not the case with these. I have a loose tooth she kept wiggling, I've been working on the structure of the tooth and not having much luck, with my peridontist. We know it's loose, so why she had to keep wiggling it about five different times is beyond me. I told my Peridontist and they were mystified why a professional would keep doing that. After she told me to put my upper and bottom teeth together evenly, as I was trying to she got impatient and told me she knows I can do it and acts like I'm being difficult on purpose - truthfully it's hard for me at first to even them out completely since I don't have the front back teeth and can't feel the line-up without shifting around. She acted like she wasn't believing me since she was in a hurry. The visit before that, I was point blank lied to about what was going to happen that appointment, and ended up spending an hour and a half in the chair while the only thing they did is one short X-ray and the dentist examining my teeth. She left the room without explaining what she found or what work I needed done. I told the management this when she was trying to give me a new price plan - she was speaking of cavities and I told her wait, I have no idea which is what or what has been found since the dentist refused to explain anything to me. We had to cut the meeting short. Over the years there have been some billing mishaps and appointment errors as well, but I'm mainly concerned about the actual scary dental treatment I received the last two times with the new dentist they assigned me. I have the bad tendency to give people too many chances and the benefit of the doubt, but I'm reminding myself life is too short to do that where my health is concerned when it comes to treatment. While I know it's more the fault of this dentist in particular than the entire center, mixing this experience with clerical errors, billing problems, higher pricing, and these treatments make me lose trust in the whole place. I've been going to Midtown for about four years now. The office staff is always very friendly and courteous. I sometimes bounce around between hygienists depending on availability but last week I had Kim and she was wonderful. I don't enjoy going to the dentist but she really went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and relaxed. She played music and even had a chair massage. After she was finished she gave me a warm towel for my face and let me relax a little. I just felt that she really went the extra mile for me as a patient, and I left the dentist feeling great. This place is a complete nightmare! First I called 3 times trying to schedule an appointment. The first call I provided all of my information and was told I'd get a call back to schedule. Second time I called they asked for my information all over again and hung up. I called back to see what happened to the call and was asked all of my info again by Lexi this time. I still never received a call back. Then I get an email from my insurance that I have a new claim for over $1200!! I called this office immediately and was hung up on twice. I then called my insurance and advised them I was never seen here and in fact had never been to the location had only called to schedule appointment that was never scheduled. TERRIBLE DENTIST - BEWARE! - MUST READ - My daughter went in for the initial extensive initial consultation with several x-rays before the cleaning appointment. They said everything looked good. Clean bill of dental health. Within just a couple weeks my daughter ended up in excruciating pain from a molar. Midtown Dental would not help us and said she would have to wait three days. Three days when my daughter is in excruciating pain really?!? We ended up at a different dentist for help the very next day. Long story short, her clean bill of health has evolved from possibly needing a filling or at most a crown if they had done their job, to a full blown two stage root canal with a crown costing us thousands of dollars even after insurance. We have made attempts to discuss this with Midtown and with the owner Dr. William Nerestant. Instead of working with us they have retained an attorney! We're now in the position to file in small claims or hire an attorney. Beware! read more

By far the best dentist around! Midtown Dental has an amazing staff that is very knowledgeable and polite! I have been there twice and will continue to go there! You will gain knowledge about you teeth and the conditions that may affect you! I recently had two wisdom teeth pulled right away due to pain and Dr. N did an amazing job! Called 6/8/15 to find out what my benefits would cover for a wisdom tooth extraction but they wouldn't even run my benefits without having me come in. No thanks. How about you tell me what I'd have to pay out of pocket with the benefits I have (i.e., will I get my x-rays free, how much of a tooth extraction will be covered, etc.) before I take a day off. AND they wanted me to come in one day for x-rays and then make an appointment for a tooth extraction on another day. Apparently they don't understand that sometimes, teeth are painful and need to be extracted sooner rather than later. I have AETNA PPO. I will look elsewhere. And maybe try staff that are less snobby over the phone. read more

I went there a couple months ago when they were offering Free dental for people who had No insurance or couldn't afford dental, I had no dental insurance and as a single mom it's very expensive to go, everyone working was very nice, I had to come one day for paperwork and the second for my appt when they actually did the work, the dental hygienist who worked on me told me what else I needed done, pretty immediately, said to call back and they would have my file with the work I needed and I could get a quote of the cost, I called to get the quote, and what bothers me, they couldn't find me in their computer, not under my name, or birthday, it's scares me, knowing they have all my information and with diseases you could get from any doctor or dentist I know they have to keep all patience information on file. While I'm grateful for the free work they did, I would feel more comfortable going back if I knew they had my information and it's wasn't floating out there somewhere! read more

I was new to town and started with this dental group. the initial visit was fine. we made plans for my dental surgery. While the initial staff was very nice On surgery day It took 3 tries to start an iv and the surgeon didnt even speak to me the entire procedure. Just not a good bedside manner. I went there the first time with a problem that needed attention . They were able to get me in quickly; the staff was courteous, the service was good. I found it odd that they wanted to schedule an oral check up after they fixed my current problem. Everywhere else I have been does the oral exam before they fix the problem. I even mentioned it to them. They said that's just the way they do it. I found out why when I received their statement. By doing it their way, they can bill you twice; once for the exam of the problem and then again for an overall oral exam. Insurance will only cover one of those charges so your stuck paying for the other. It's unfortunate that they have chosen that practice because they have lost my business as a result as well as recommendations I would have made on their behalf. read more
