I was very unhappy with the people who took care of me, about two years ago. But these new people went out of their way to make up for that. They work with me on getting new teeth, and the price on the new teeth. Right at first it was different , when the person said oh you are a Medium size, the other people did not , their mole was way to big, and teeth never did fit . Call to get appointment to get a tooth extracted I'm fully covered for it by my insurance with $6000 and they told me that I had to still pay out of pocket for gauze to pack the hole from the extracted tooth a $250.00 charge, so they said they would call me with an appointment and never di, they were lying to me. I just can't get over the way they lie on TV telling people that they're Dental implant's will last you a lifetime when 95% of the patients getting them are over 75 years age so what do they consider a lifetime. We went for 4 tooth extractions. Everything was fine until the surgery day, but my pain didn't go away after the surgery. It's been aching for more than a week and when I call them, they say they'll get back to you and postpone it. Took my brother in and it took the tech doing the X-rays (needed help from someone who used to work there but was doing a different job in the office) to help the tech finish the job. Not sure if it was his first day on his own, but didn't give us a warm fuzzy. Then they wanted to charge an arm and half a leg to pull a tooth. Told them we were leaving and they cut the price in half ) over a grand off). Little pricey if you ask me but he had a cracked tooth so we were just happy they could get him in the same day. I visited the Aspen Dental office in N.Lakeland on December 20th, 2023, after scheduling an emergency appt online the night before. they made me pay upfront as soon as I walked in. I met with Dr.Cartagena after x-rays etc. she said she would remove 6 teeth including my wisdom teeth. I said for right now I don't want my wisdom teeth removed only the infected teeth that were causing me pain. I sat down with Bridget from front office to go over my plan and I wanted to choose the cheapest option as she said my Dental insurance didn't cover much. I then went to the back to have mold impressions done & Bridget came back in the middle of being fitted to let me know. Dr.Cartagena still wanted to remove my wisdom teeth and she would do it herself as she is experienced in wisdom tooth removal but it would cost more. I agreed because they were pressuring me. I then go back to Bridget to schedule around when Dr.Cartagena would be available on January 9th, 2024. I was prescribed Penicillin in the meantime, which turned out I was resistant to and so it did not work. when I came back for 2nd Appt, I was made to pay a further lump sum upfront and Dr.Cartagena was not even around. despite her pushing to remove my wisdom teeth herself. I had to relay my concerns to a new male dentist, who was not made aware of my requests for an anesthesia that would not make my heart race as I have heart arrythmia. he left the room and never came back and the dental assistant told me they had the Mepivacaine there but they couldn't administer it as it was out of date. so I went home for the 2nd time still in pain with no work having been done and my partials handed to me in a sandwich bag. partials that I could not use because they did not have their drugs up to date & Dr.Cartagena not present. despite paying them upfront TWICE! I told Bridget I would like to be prescribed a different antibiotic as the first one did not work. she said dr will absolutely prescribe me something else as they don't want me in pain. my husband picked up the prescription for me and we found after paying out of pocket again, that it was the same antibiotic as the first. I called the Walgreens pharmacist & explained to her. she looked up my previous prescription from Aspen Dental and advised me NOT to take the same dose of Antibiotics twice so quickly, especially if I was resistant to the first prescription as it can do more harm and make an infection worse. she told me to call my Dr and let them know and so I did Call Aspen and they Harassed me over the phone saying if I don't take it. they aren't going to extract. despite me telling them I was advised not to take them. only then did they prescribe a different antibiotic. which I again paid out of pocket for. on day of extraction January 16th 2024 my Mother in law who worked in law came with me after I told her my story with Aspen. naturally outraged she demanded to know why I was overcharged, had to pay upfront and why I was not listened to & bullied into getting work done that I could not afford. the Manager said she drove to Winterhaven to borrow the Mepivacaine from another dental office just for me. they still refused a full refund despite no work being done almost a month later. i decided to go ahead with extractions, I was very scared and also because my trust at this practice was now gone. they pushed for me to have all 6 teeth removed at my appointment and then did not follow through on the last two. while I was laying on the bed during extractions Dr.Cartagena said she is not going to pull the teeth on my right. the one on my top right was broken and infected and the one I need out more than a wisdom tooth. the dental assistant walked me out front so I could go home and so here I am still in pain. Still with an infected tooth. after paying upfront for 6 teeth to be extracted and a top partial I can't even use because Dr.Cartagena did not finish extractions. no follow up appt scheduled for me. they pushed me to have 6 extractions done in one day, charged me for it. then tried to place the blame on me because I needed another type of anesthesia. place needs shutting down. when I asked the Manager why I was only informed on the bed during extraction that they wouldn't be taking out my tooth her response was " I don't know I'm not a dr." perhaps you should know if you're going to call yourself Manager of a dental Practice. she then hung up the phone on me. scam of a place. read more

I just got home with my problem taken care off I totally recommend Apsen Dental. Best I've ever be to. All there are totally great. Only problem I was told I would have 20 per cent off and so far that's not happened. I plan to see them in all issues in the future if we can get bill correct, which I'm sure we can. Totally relaxed. Do not go to Aspen Dental. You can do better and you will be happier with another dentist. They did a crappy job on a crown and are not going to give me a refund. The crown snapped off and the rest of my tooth....under the gum...had to be extracted. Two weeks later and it still hurts. It looks like a bullet hole in my front four. I'm trying to get my $1500 back and they're trying to get more of my money. I am now going to a dentist who used to work at Aspen. I won't share what he told me because it's his story to tell. One of the worst dentist experiences I've had. I had a 10 am appointment and wasn't even taken back until after 10:40am. The dentist gave me Novocain and left for 35 minutes before returning to do the tooth extraction. She then struggled to even get the tooth out and by this point the Novocain was wearing off and the pain was kicking in. As soon as the tooth was out I was pushed out the door with a quick run down on after care. I didn't even get a prescription for anti-inflammatory or pain meds. I will never go back to this place and will definitely never bring my family here. read more

While waiting for my implant procedure to get done I have to use a partial of 3 teeth in the top of my mouth ,my surgery was March 20th I was told that the doctor was not there if I could come back next day to get my partial , supposedly I was going to have it on the same day. Since I took a whole week off for this surgery, I was ok with it .I called the office and notified them that I was a little sore and in pain and was not ready to place anything in my mouth .I went back to the office 8 days after the surgery and the partial was way too big for my mouth size and my teeth. The doctor adjusted my partial and, from the conversation I had with the doctor, my gum was still too sore to fit the partial in. She told me to wait few more days and try again.I did as I was told and it was still too big . I called the office again and they scheduled an appointment for today. Once I got to the office they took me in to fix the partial in my mouth. I told them again the teeth in the front were too big and the one on the side of my mouth was literally going off my gum line like a hook. On the top, my palate felt like there was a gap between my palate and my partial . The lab lady came in and tried to fix it and she told me I have to get adapted to it. I told her if I have to get adapted to something like that that doesn't not fit me, well I preferred to wear nothing. I was about to leave the office when she told me that she can make me another one . I told her ok good , thank you . Then, after taking another impression again for a new partial, I was told to wait until April the 13th. How is that right that I have to wait when I was supposed to have it done the same day of the surgery . This should be a priority. They do have one unhappy patient for something that should be handled correctly. I feel the staff does not care for the patients at all , extremely disappointed. read more

I needed a second opinion on some dental work. I was visiting my daughter and son in law in Lakeland, so I called Aspen Dental and made an appointment. My first impression was positive. The staff greeted and welcomed you with big smiles. The waiting area was crowded but they took me in with little waiting time. I was examined by Dr. Cartenega, she told me my options. I spoke to Brian, finance specialist , and discussed the costs of my procedures. I almost fell out of my chair of the total cost of my work. I was quoted at another dental office in Orlando $12,000 dollars for the same procedures to be done, but at Aspen Dental, I was quoted $5,000 dollars, and they will work with you for payments that I could afford. My procedures were completed within 45 days. I was so happy with my results and got back my big smile. read more

Dollars, then I received a statement from my dental insurance that had pay the agreeable amount When I contacted my insurance was told they were violating contract and should refunnf me the 135.00 I paid and if Aspen did not proceed they will get involved, Im contacting the in reference and also asking if I did not complete the treatment they owe me some money, And I did not returned to that place because they are not honest an charge all treatment in advance instead of collecting as completing procedures. Pros: The x-rays and exam were free with a coupon for new patients with no dental insurance Kim, the x-ray tech was very friendly. Sasha, the dental hygienist, greeted me with a smile, made sure I was comfortable, and did a great job cleaning my teeth. If I were rating Sasha alone, she would get five stars and I recommend her to everyone! My hygienist, Sasha, didn't make me wait long, less than 15 minutes. Cons: It took over three weeks to get an appointment for an exam. Reception isn't particularly friendly or welcoming When I went in for my initial exam there was a VERY long wait in the waiting room, again in the exam room, and again before being allowed to leave. The exam rooms are not private They do not offer nitrous oxide Dr. Yarelis Cartagena wasn't friendly at all. She did not smile and didn't address me by name. When I held out my hand to greet her, her handshake was like holding a dead fish. Both times I saw her she seemed annoyed to be there, she was short with me, I'd even say rude, and I will never return for an appointment with her and I don't recommend Dr. Y. Cartagena to anyone. Aspen Dental does nothing to help with anxiety. Friendly faces, soft music, and a comfortable atmosphere can go a long way. I chipped my tooth and needed it repaired. I waited in the dental chair for Dr. Cartagena for 45 minutes after waiting in the waiting room for over 30 minutes. I felt trapped. My anxiety levels were high; I was restless, palms sweaty, and I had stomach cramps. A woman (I don't know her name) saw that I was uncomfortable and asked what was wrong. I recently relocated to Florida. Before going to Aspen Dental I was in extreme pain. My upper right gums and face were swollen due to an infection. I had seen another local dentist prior and was told the infection was due to gum disease and they wanted to charge me $1440 for a deep cleaning. Wanting a second opinion I went to Aspen Dental. Aspen dental immediately saw that my tooth was cracked and that was the cause of the infectIon. Sure enough my tooth was completely split in half. Unfortunately the tooth could not be saved. :( Since having the tooth extracted the infection has subsided and there is no need for a $1400 deep cleaning. I really like the dentist here. I liked the office help until I had a question about a bill. I explained what I was confused about and they acted like I was crazy. They gave me pages of info from 2015-2020. This was from a different office. I asked if I could have information from when I started there. I didn't start there until 11-2018 but they still had info from the other office. They were getting aggravated because I still keep questioning the bill. I'm an accountant I really should be able to understand the bill. I called the next day and got a cool reception. I asked for the dentist as I needed a stronger pain medication. I was told that I hadn't had any work done. I had spent more than 2 hours with the dentist trying to pull out my tooth. She said well the tooth is still there. Then I asked if they could renew the 800 mg ibuprofen they already given me. She said just take 4 200. I really didn't think that she was qualified to make these decisions. My husband and I went to Aspen Dental and they took our insurance cards and checked and said that we had coverage for almost everything they were going to do and it would cost us only $50.00 each person. We said okay and THEN..AFTER they did the work they told us the insurance was the wrong kind and it was not covered! After a horrible experience with rude employees at the zephyrhills location I had to go to north lakeland to have my two teeth extracted by the oral surgeon. The oral surgeon Dr.Freeman was great. But my appointment time changed by an hour at the last minute without any explanation. Then when I arrived at the office and signed in after a few minutes I asked if there where any papers I needed to sign or anything. They told me they couldn't locate my chart so they called zephyrhills and have it faxed over I pointed out that my appointment was made 3 weeks in advance and I shouldn't be standing in front of them 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment before they decided to send for my chart. Then after another couple minutes they "found" my chart set to the side... At the end aspen is ok.. Not great while they do have some great dentist. They are all about the money. Every patient needs a 1200$ cleaning that still shocks me. If you go just go with the understanding that you will get good work at a ok price ( if you for-go the cleaning and tooth brush they try and sell you on) with terrible customer service from their office staff and never try and call you will just get more frustrated. read more

Stay away! After confirming cleaning appointment via email, after waiting a year because of backlog, they decide to tell me when checking in, they need to reschedule because they only have one tech. They can't seem to hold onto techs because when I call to schedule that's the excuse for the year wait. Insurance pays for 2 cleanings a year. Not meeting this quota. Then you wonder why you have to refill out the paper work because its been a year since last appointment! They seem to put the "new" potential clients ahead of current clients.
